Best radio for low reception area - HTC One S

when im at my house my reception is bad...it goes in and out form edge with no service alot of the time. I upgraded to the JB radio and noticed that it may be even worse with them. Which radio do ppl suggest for bad reception areas? thanks

If you're in an area with bad reception then changing the radio really won't help

Flashing Radios and Matching RILs

I cannot seem to find the answer straightforward so I will ask, if you mix a radio with a RIL that does not support it or vice versa, do you brick your phone or do you just get no signal?
Thanks!

No brick, but possibly slow speeds & poor signal.
Thanks

you can lock on ONE signal by
Pressing *#*#4636#*#* and you will see phone information, go their you will then be able to access another pull down menu by where you see your current network signal, lock on the one you want , then scroll down press refresh and your good to go!

again, it's normal. The OP isn't talking about switching between gsm and wcdma

what do you mean what does that do?
it allows me to lock on one signal so it does not continue switching back and forth. Works for me.....

what did you set it to ?
and for some odd reason i get full bars 2g and 1-2 bars 4g
WCDMA only which gives me H or 4G but its a personal preference. I got tired of my device switching to EDGE, try to surf the web on EDGE, not fun! After I learned how to lock the signal I've been on H ever since! Thanks to a friend showing me this trick! Just thought I'd pass it on to you. Works for me and my complaint was similar to yours. Let me know if it solved your problem please. I honestly think it will. Just trying to help

thing is different areas get stronger and weaker signals i
Am not familiar with your area but its worth a try if the switching is a bother.sounds like one signal is stronger just as in my case however switching to wdcma or H I have 5 bars.

ya i see what it does but for some reason signal is just spotty at my house it fluctuates between 1-2 bard then drops to none and repeat.. t mo just must be bad in my area
I'm sorry it didn't work! Seems tmobile is spotty everywhere! They really need to work on that!

ROMs/kernels have nothing to do with download/upload speeds. its all about the radio
So how do you go about choosing the radio?what factors do you go off of?and do you just flash a different radio on your phone like a Rom or kernel? Is there a web link that list all the different radios? If you would point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

It depends on your carrier, the signal strength & the Radio that you're using.
There, I've answered another completely pointless question that was one search away.
As for radios, you'll need to experiment.

Apparently OP has a Sensation, GS2 and HD7 according to his post history. I'm doubtful if this is truly the case. Or I'm just overly cynical.
I also have a amaze,HTC s one and a G s 3.

Very weird LTE issue

I am using AT&T One X now, and I signed up a 4G LTE 2 year contract. However, my phone only gets to HSPA+ but not LTE. I've tried different ROMs, flashing radio, choosing the network type(changing into “LTE only” will only cause no signal), etc... None is working.
Any ideas? I live in Diamond Bar, which there are lots of hills and low mountains... Will the signal be a possible cause for the LTE fail?
LTE can be finnicky with signal, but what APN are you currently using?
Are you sure that your city has lte not every city has it yet.

This. It's the most obvious answer but it's probably it.
I live near diamond bar and I get LTE everywhere I go, granted I don't go there..

With the att ruu, the apn is locked and there is only one. So it is definitely the correct apn. With other roms, I tried all apns but none worked.

Since LTE runs on such a low frequency, if you are even a little outside of coverage area, on the fringe, or in low-lying areas, its very possible that you simply dont get LTE coverage. have you tested or witnessed any other LTE devices functioning in your area?

That is true, but you won't necessarily have LTE data unless you've called customer service and had them activate it for your plan.

Poor data speed and signal.

I'm currently using viper Rom 1.2.0 I changed Rom from trickdroid T-Mobile. Right now I'm suffering extremely slow data speed and poor signal. please help is there something wrong with my radio or what?

If you live on the East Coast it could just be a byproduct of Hurricane Sandy.
Let's try this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1884249
First thing I would do before changing anything is call T-Mobile and see if there is an outage or scheduled maintenance in your area. I know people don't like to call tech support but as that s what I do for work sometimes people can really mess things up when it wasn't even on their end.
Not saying you would in any way, but it's good to cancel out all possibilities that are easy first
Ps..questions go in the q&a section...questions and answers

It's been like this for over a month. I live in Seattle so it won't be affected by the hurricane sandy.

Have bothered to call your carrier? Maybe your provisioning is off etc etc. Were you ever throttled does it happen on every rom?
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
all of the above
plus, pull your sim/check apn's/see if your network is set to wcdma preferred on phone
