Hello Everybody,
Could anyone of you tell me how is it possible to have the voume controls in the status bar? During video visualization there is any chance to modify the volume from the Gui of the App (i.e. youtube).
I don't know why only the hardware controls are available.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Bye,
Paolo

Volume Control
Download and install "Volume in Notification" from the Play Store (Free). You have to click on the Status Bar to see the Mute/Down/Up buttons then.

First of all,Thank you very much for your prompt reply but it sounds very strange for me that a such basic control is not available directly in the application interface. I don't understand this choice moreover I've seen that other customizations (i.e. Mediacom) have volume controls in the system bar after return home and open application buttons.
Bye,
Paolo

It's such a basic control that there are even hardware buttons for it. Why duplicate that functionality in software? (except to spare the flimsy hardware buttons on the TF700)
What issues do you have with the hardware buttons Paolo? It's difficult for us to understand your problem as Asus provided not only the hardware volume on the pad but also on the keyboard as well.
I don't use YouTube (I deleted it), but its website has volume controls, so I suspect the app does so, too. Just not in the Android taskbar. Tried tapping the video to see if any controls pop up?
Most videoplayers have internal volume controls by swiping up and down on one side of the screen in the video. A third(forth, if you count the dock) volume control is both overkill and entirely redundant.
My issue is quite trivial, I know... it is matter of comfort during visualization, many times I'd like have controls directly on the Gui maybe is a choice specifically designed for portable devices as tablet and smartphone.
Thank you very much for your support in any case.

Hi, I attach a couple of screenshots where both YouTube website and app interfaces don't have volume controls. Is not a problem, as I told in previous messages is just matter of comfort during visualization because the tablet controls are partially covered by the case I added.

There is a simple app called "Volume in Notification" by Jimmy Hu available in the play store.
Actually there are few that do the same.
All it does is put volume +/- and mute down on the bar...works quite well.
I've switched to using the volume controls in Button Saviour - seems less intrusive...

Yes, that was me!
I just found that with the dock notification, screen orientation, Widgetsoid (for launching floating apps), and the volume notification, that I was running out of room...

zMooth works on rooted Droid's with rooted android 2.2+.
zMooth lets you use gestures to mimic your device's hardware keys (back, home, menu and power(in Pro)), you will be able to use very intuitive gestures to navigate your device.
zMooth is unobtrusive and uses minimum amount of screen space but very easy and intuitive to use. If you use for couple of days you won't even think about using the buttons.
After you install the app you will see a blue area at the bottom of the screen, swipe left on this area to go back, swipe right for menu, gesture a up-arrow(^) for home and gesture a lightning strike/thunderbolt to power off. Please check the screen shots and video for more info.

Support is built-in to the app, "Preferences->Help" will resolve most issues. If not resolved just contact me through "Preferences->Help->Contact Support" and I will be happy to resolve any issues.
Thanks.

Would appreciate any feedback from DroidX users.

This is a great app! Sometimes it has trouble picking up back and search, but that's only because it will only pick up gestures to a certain degree of crapyness.

Thanks for feedback, updated OP with info.
Still using this and just bought the pro version so I.could.customize more. Now to get my button lights to stay off.
EDIT: Really like the turn screen off with the paid version. Don't have to use any of the hard buttons anymore, I don't use the search except when in stock recovery.

I'm using this app since the first versions and now I can't live without it!
I have just installed in my galaxy tab and it runs like a charm!
Five stars in the market!
Thanks!
For me, a perfect solution (after trying Button Savior and Softkeys). I came from the Incredible, and quickly learned to dislike the hardware buttons of the DroidX.
Zmooth solves the problem and really speeds up operations. Stable and configurable, too.
Does anyone know of a widget to control volume and brigjtness. I was looking for something with sliders.

If you click on the notification tray area and then on the settings icon you get some quick settings like brightness. Works from anywhere in the device. As far as a full on widget for the home screen I don't know. Quick searching in the market Power Control Plus ($1.99) should work. I haven't used it myself.
check out widgetsoid, free from the market
you can place more than one in the home page, can turn on an doff settings can add short cut to apps can configure the look.....work great
[Q] Setting up swiping keyboard 3.2
I think since 3.2 that the "swyping" keyboard ( onscreen) isn't working as often in "swype" mode. Is there some finer control over that?
Thanks,

Onscreen keyboard tracing control.
I had forgotten I'd posted this for months, then just searched and found it and realized I still don't understand if there's any control we've got over when the onscreen keyboard works in 'tracing' mode, and when it doesn't.
It does seem to me that it works much less in tracing mode than when I got it. I've got the 3.2 SW, rooted, and the stock ROM and Kernel aboard, so it is likely not anything I've changed.
When I look at the keyboard settings I don't see anything that addresses this so any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Hashi

As the title suggests, is there a means to assign the volume up/down keys on the transformer to changing music tracks when they are long pressed?
As far as I am aware, none of the current ROM's provide this feature using the stock music app; would it be easy to implement such a modification or is there an app to enable it?
Good question
I also would like to know it. I'm missing it, since I use it on my htc Desire.

You could probably recommission tasker for that problem

This is just a quick question for those that already have this tablet (still waiting on mine). I'm used to most android devices having a menu button that interacts with the given menu of a specific app. So given that this tablet doesn't have that, how do you pull up and nteract with in app menus now? I tried looking at video reviews and not one mentions anything about this.

Apps that have a menu will show the three dot menu overflow button.
Take a look at the pic in this article:

Long pressing the new multitasking button to the left of the home button will also bring up menus.
Thank you so much for the explanations!
