[Q] kernel panic, upload mode on p6800 with cm 10.1 4.2.1 - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I installed cm 10.1 jb 4.2.1 on my GTab 7.7 3G and works great! I love the interface, it's smooth, etc. But there is one problem: kernel panic. I'm not sure what it is, but I leave it in standby and, sometimes, I see a black screen and KERNEL PANIC UPLOAD MODE
I hold the power button 10 secs. And them reboot and everything works just fine.
Q: What should I do? Do you know any jb kernel for this model?
ROM: Locera CM 10.1
Galaxy Note 2 - Android Revolution ROM, 4.1.1
Galaxy S III - Wanam Lite v5.1 ROM, 4.1.2
Galaxy Tab 7.7 3G - CM 10.1, 4.2.1
Galaxy Camera - Stock, not rooted
Galaxy tab 10.1 3G p7500 - Stock, not rooted
Galaxy S - bricked )

I've never seen that error on CM 10.1. Can you screenshot it next time? When you flash any CM ROM it comes with it's own kernel. Right now, you can't use a custom kernel with any CM builds for the GTab 7.7 unless you created your own. You also might want to post this in the CM 10.1 thread to see if any other users are experiencing this. So far, I haven't seen anyone else yet. Only random reboots and wifi disconnection when the screen locks/goes to sleep.

Well, I don’t think it is possible to make a screenshot in that condition. Also, I installed another ROM to avoid that error. But I can, however, describe what happens: black screen, something written in red in the left upper corner, an Android and next to it written in yellow, KERNEL PANIC and below UPLOAD MODE
also, where can I find this cm 10.1 thread?

[Q] Is cyanogenmod 11 a custom rom??

Explanations needed about custom roms for the Tab 2.
I have install CM 11 ver 4.4.4 on a Acer A700 & Nook HD+; no problems. Now with the Tab 2, I see all kinds of "custom roms" but the ver from Cyanogenmod isn't listed as a custom rom in the 'everything you want to know about the Galaxy Tab 2' thread or something like that.
I do see SlimKat, OpenKang, Expresso, Omnirom, etc but no mention of Cyanogenmod (CM 11) except as that the custom roms were derived from it(?). The big question is that should I use one of the listed/known "custom roms" or stay with what I got from the Cyanogenmod site even if the Cyanogenmod wasn't listed as a "custom rom"?
I guess the problem is that I've only encountered the A700 & Nook HD+ with only 1 version of CM 11 on the XDA forums. Since Cyanogenmod has their own website, was that the reason that it wasn't listed or considered as a custom rom?
Definitely some confusion here. HELP!

Yes, CM11 is a custom ROM. The version from CM's site works well.
If you are looking for other good custom ROM's, I would try @Android-Andi's Homemade OmniRom.
It has multi-window and really good battery life since he fixed the KK battery drain in his version.
SlimKat is another good choice. If you flash CM11, you should also flash @Android-Andi's AA_Anykernel CM version and the vendor blobs.
His kernel fixes the battery drain issue.

Just remember that not everybody has the drain (I never have) so may not need Andis super Kernel and may be able to try others. FYI

Question regarding 2 devices running CM

Hey, this is my first post so I hope it's in the right section.
I just installed a custom build of CM13 to my Galaxy Tab 4 and trebuchet is very unstable and randomly crashes (And getting support is near impossible seeing that the build was last updated in January...)
I also have a Galaxy S3 thats on the same android version but is on nightly builds of 13.
Would it work/solve any issues if I grabbed the trebuchet apk off of my S3 using root and throw/replace it on the Tab 4?

Galaxy tab 2 10.1 P5110 - Latest stable Android based OS?

Hi everybody,
I am now using a Galaxy tab 2 P5110, running under Android 4.1.2, not rooted.
My problem is that my Tab is really slow when I use basic apps (chrome, office apps).
In order to get a bit more power from it (removing the Samsung layout, but I know it's a 2012 tablet...) I am looking for the most stable ROM I could use, and if possible running under a quite recent android version.
I am quite new to this kind of manipulations, so I am also looking for a tutorial to instal the ROM you could advice me.
I know I have to root my tab before doing anything. Does the tutorial available here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657056 - by Weltwon) work with 4.1.2 android version?
Thank you all for your answers!

Edit: I have an other question. Is the root enough to remove the Samsung touchwizz layer? If yes, how to do it?
Lineage OS 13.0
You could get a Lineage OS 13.0 nightly, and from my experience those are fairly stable.

For starters if you want to get rid of TouchWiz you can remove all of the bloatware and Samsung apps (like TouchWiz home, AccuWeather widget, Samsung Apps, Group play).
But I recommend just install custom ROM. Maybe cm11 or cm12.. I am using Dhollmen 4.4.4 on my tab for 1 years and it is working very well for me.
Thank you for your advices,
@tasnim_tamim: I dont know Dohllmen. Is it à cyanogenmod Android version? Which tab do you run under this ROM?
@orionboughton: are nightly versions if lineageOS stable? I have heard that these are update vert often, and some Android functionality can be disabled
Its a ROM based of SlimROM.. I am running it on my galaxy tab 2 7.0 p3100
Lineage OS 13.0
Lineage OS is basically an updated version of Cyanogenmod, so i guess that's what it's based off of.
I've been running a nightly of Lineage OS from their website at https://download.lineageos.org/espressowifi , and it's really smooth compared to touchwiz and the ram is managed much better. The camera works, the gyroscope works, and I've only had one or two problems (like root not being enabled out of the box, and needing to flash a supersu zip to get that running), and besides that it's all good. If you have a problem, rebooting usually fixes it and I've rarely had to do that in the past few weeks I've been running it.
Another plus is it runs android 6.0, which seems to be better in every way. Great standby time, 4h or more screen on time, etc.
However if you do decide to get it, make sure to flash with the latest version of twrp, and if not you might softbrick your device.

Need Help - Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5110 / espressowifi - Random Reboot - LineageOS 13.0

Hello dear community,
I've got a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 running the latest version of LineageOS with the pico OpenGapps package and the tablet is randomly rebooting while using it and even when I'm not using it. Furthermore different apps keep crashing. The tablet than says, that the specific app is not working anymore.
I tried some other ROMs and it didn't help. I tried to reflash stock Android and it didn't help either. This problem appears on every ROM, even on the Stock ROM by Samsung.
Is there any solution to my problem?
I'm using this combo (kernel DhollmenM + cm-13.0-20161001 from MARKOX89) and don't get any reboot problem. Latest LineageOS doesn't give any new features and stock kernel doesn't support overclock, that's why I'm not using it.

Good Custom Rom for Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 GT-P5113

I have finally got a different charging cable for my galaxy tab 2 10.1 and now i can charge it and use it again. I have an old LineageOS installed but sense it has been removed from the website i am looking for a new custom rom to use. I want to use something around Kitkat. Any ideas?
I am using lineage 11, really good kitkat ROM. If you pick lineage 11 I would pick build 3 because the builds after that have broken root access.
Try SlimKat. Its based on 4.4.4 and it really runs like hell. Tried it after my weired problem got solved, but I prefere to use CM13, the latest build from andi34's github. It runs really stable and I really love the old CM logo, the LAOS13 is very unstable in daily use. My dad told me that a while ago...
The main reason why I prefere Android 6 instead of 7 is, because it supports many older XPOSED modules and apps like SetCPU does still work. :good:
CM is the one and only for me, big thanks to the dev's :highfive:
Anyway, here's the link for andi's "Slim" repo: https : / / andi34 . github . io / roms_tab2_slim . html
