Alright, I have been answering threads for simple stuff about rooting, and modding the p3113, and its cousins. If you have questions about how to do anything, please post them here, and I, and others will help you. This way we can keep a running q/a thread without flooding the forum with the same question. I am in the process of writing new how to's so hopefully we have the answers to your questions in a easy to find thread. Happy new year.

Is there an alternative place to find espressowifi-recovery-5-18.tar.md5 other than from goo.im...
Or what could I use for an alternative,
Thanks

RESOLVED: The ODIN flash did work after I used the right tar file.
I buried this in another Q&A thread and have no replies so far. Maybe you could give me some advice.
I tried flashing one of those firmwares for 4.1.1 which was only 357 MB and it got stuck at the boot screen, It seems I had bad instructions I followed with a link to an incomplete flash file, perhaps part 1 of a 2 part download. When it flashed it last said it was updating remaining files and then went back to the recovery, When I rebooted it stuck at the recovery even after a data wipe. I tried flashing a 3113 rooted stock rom and it gives me an E:signature verification failed. I used odin to flash the 4.04 stock rom which passes, but it still freezes at the boot screen even after a data wipe. Should I try flashing CWM recovery through odin to get around the signature verification or does someone know another procedure that has worked to get back to stock 4.04 from this condition. I have seen this mentioned a couple of times in the development threads with users indicating that they got back to stock, but without details of exactly how.
The firmware I apparently partially flashed was GT-P3113_P3113UECLI4-OTA-P3113UEBLH2_XAR_374372839
Also I was not able to see if usb debugging was enabled since I could not do anything but recovery or download modes on the tablet.

Hey megafatporky, sorry I am late, check here.

How to a boot into recovery on this tablet I forgot...
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app

Okay....
How do I get back to stock and have no root access at all. I dont mean just flash a deodexed ROM and say thats it. I want to completely recover my device (P-3110 , same as P-113 just no IR blaster) to the original settings as supplied by Samsung.I need it to be fully updateable via kies and accept OTA updates.
Thanks

Power button and the Volume button directly next to the Power button will bring you into "Recovery mode".
Power button and the Volume button furthest away will bring you into "Download mode".
To boot into "Safe mode" When the tablet is on press the power button till the reboot menu appears then press and hold the Reboot button , until you get the option to boot into safe mode. Reboot and you are good to go.

Thought I'd try this rather than a new thread.
Hi Jeramy, hopefully you have some advice.
My problem: I want to be able to install some apps on the SD card, and still use the stock 4.1.2 that I upgraded to using Kies.
What I've discovered so far:
Samsung doesn't like moving apps to SD (Link2SD for example which makes a soft link in the normal Samsung place to the SD card)
First must jailbreak
Jailbreaking uses "odin" (something to put Roms on) and a ROM
So far I've got Link2SD, and downloaded some ROMs, but there doesn't seem to be a good ROM that is basically just the stock + superuser. I do see some for France etc.
One thought I had is will this work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1887757
Wherein they install some Zip somehow. What's the CWM do? Is it version dependent?
Anyhow, thanks I hope this makes some sense.

Moving apps to SD went out with ICS 4.0.4 Goggle dropped it from Android as not needed, not useful anymore.

@Sean Seany
Thanks Sean for picking up the question. I have been shirking my duties here, and I apologize. Are you serious about your question, or are you pulling my leg. I know you have been around here much longer than I have, and have answered one of my questions already. If you are serious though, cant you just Odin back to stock with official firmware, and take the ota? This is my first Samsung so I am learning as I go. Though rooting Samsung's is so much easier than my Rezound. We have to short the board with a paperclip to achieve s off on it.
Edit, I used this to install the official from UK.(p3110) on my p3113. Complete stock. I would imagine you would do the same, just use all 3110 files.

@ QFX
First, sorry. I havent checked this thread today, and whenever i need something answered, i want it yesterday. It sounds to me like you haven't been in the android world too long. If you have, I mean no disrespect. So far, I have ran a few custom ROMs, but the stock experience is really smooth in my opinion. My best advice is to try a couple, and see what you like. Now to answer your questions. Clockworkmod is a custom recovery that allows you to backup your tablet in the state it is in when you make the back up. It also allows you to flash custom ROMs Like the ones you downloaded. It is a must have if you plan on rooting(jail breaking). Yes they are version specific. There are guides that will walk you through this, and it is pretty simple. If you look in the threads for cf auto root, the thread will walk you through it. After you do this, you will need to flash Clockworkmod. It is in the same threads. Look under development. Both of these files have to be flashed through odin on your computer. As soon as you flash Clockworkmod, reboot into recovery, and make a backup. This way, you can flash other ROMs, and if you want to go back, just restore your backup in Clockworkmod. I am crashing in a few, but will send you links to the files that you need tomorrow. Remember to read the guides a couple of times to make sure you understand everything before you try. After I send you the links, if you need additional help, pm me, and I will walk you through it. Good luck, and have fun
Add on
Apps2sd no longer works, but there is a script that allows you to switch your Mount points for external, and internal storage. I have a class 10 32 gig SD card that now works as my internal storage. The only thing is that you have to manually switch the files between the two at the start so the os can find what it is looking for. I will send you a link for that too.

Voice sound driving me nuts
I just updated Tab 2 7.0 P3113 to stock jellybean (not rooted), and now every time I swipe to a different screen it tells me which screen I am on. How can I turn this off?

I believe if you add something like a shortcut, then remove it, the message will go away. Let's try something easy like this first.

Hey stark. Here is a Odin flashable zip that will give you root, Clockworkmod, and has Odin in it as well. Download it, unzip it on your PC, and place the cf root file somewhere easily accessible. Install Odin, then follow the guide. Pm me if you need any more help.

I don't think that Google did this. My friend has a Galaxy II running 4.2.1 (custom ROM CM10) and can move apps to the external SD card.
I've tried rooting the my tab and installing the latest stable CM10 ROM but I still don't get the option.

I'm trying to root a galaxy tab 2 7.0 p3113 on 4.1.1. What I'm wondering is, can I use the same stuff as the 4.0.4 that I found in the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788625 or are there specific files for 4.1.1?

Hi Jeremy,
I just rooted my 3113 and I've lost my external sd card when looking in my files. It is however showing that my internal storage is 29.7G. Obviously I've gone and loused the thing up somehow.. After exhaustively searching the fourms, installing "ntfs mounter" and "ntfssd," trying to mount from CW, and trying different cards - I'm more than a little fustrated. I just realized that the movies that I had on the internal memory are not showing either. Any help for a "12:00 Flasher: would be appreciated
I've got CW and I used "gtab2_jellybean_rooter"

@ caniknow it sounds like you flashed the partition swap that swaps the external, and internal memory. Try powering off, and removing ad card, then reboot. See if it can't see internal at all. That will give me some idea of what is going on. I highly recommend cf auto root for jellybean. Super simple, and works without issues.
@ rains try cf autoroot.

Ok, I did as you suggested
After rebooting without the card: Memory shows 4.49GB
Movies stored on internal have returned
My Files show correct list again
YAY!!! It's not broken!
Ok, now with the 32G card (formatted NTFS - forgot to mention that) reinstalled, the memory has reverted to 29.7GB and showing everything (yes, everything from internal memory; though it is showing that there are memory using applications, file and such, though different amounts) has disappeared once more. GRRR
Tried NtfsSd to mount card: nodda. Tried Ntfs Mounter again: nodda Tried powering down and loading CW, inserting the card and mounting there: nodda Tried touching my left ear whilst standing on one foot in 10" of snow and holding the power button, then swiping left, left, down, uppercut, triangle, square.... once again, nothing.
Back to without the card and rebooting. Everything normal. ?????? I'm now at a total loss.
All I want is to seemlessly transfer my +12GB movies from my media storage to the tab and watch them in the car using the bluetooth interface for the sound. I need the NTFS to do this without chopping the movie into little bits that ruins the sound - and so began this quest which is turning out to be epic. Please help me slay the monster that is my lack of programming knowledge.

[Q] now that I have root, is it different to get CWM?

easier perhaps? I read about a rom manager you download from the market...
Thanks to what efforts everyone contributes here, I've found after getting out of soft brick, I managed to get root. And I'm almost happy with the handset, now that I got root explorer to work. It works best as a browser for the 20 gigs of junk on my sd card, I've found.
What I have is the SGH-i727 att branded, returned to stock, 2.3.5, my kernel is 2.6.35.11 also I flashed something in the i777 forum, is the reason for "returned to stock". My handle could be adjusted to "stupidbiker". And I've been properly scolded.
So what's a good way to get clockwork mod in my situation?
And I don't care about a warranty or a counter, or does the counter do other bad things?
And a link for operating clockwork mod? Everyone here can push three buttons except me! LOL I've pulled it off a few times on accident, but I bet in here somewhere there is a correct procedure outlined for operating clockworkmod. A link to that would be way cool.
Wow I'm stupid. K. Thanks.
This is question and answer right? I got lots of questions!
Once I get clockworkmod in the device with all the colors, I'm gonna flash a rom, the ice cream rocket I saw, also I want to test CM7, I'm in L.A. and in the LTE area and looks like I could provide input.
I'm using search, but if someone plants a good link it would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

download rom manager, install cwm from that, select tmobile galaxy s2 when asked.
see what I found
First you need to flash Clockworkmod Recovery. Then you place the zip on your SDcard, do a Nandroid backup through clockworkmod Recovery (not necessary but highly, highly recommended... especially if you have never done this before.) Then select install zip from SD card, find the .Zip file and run it and you should be golden.
What is nandroid? I use Mybackup Pro. Same sort of stuff right? I'm getting close to getting my arms around everything....

Thank you for such a quick reply. I am on AT&T. Why would I select Tmobile?
"because that's the one that works"
is an answer I can accept. I'm not fussy just stupid.
Thank you!
I have successfully flashed ClockworkMod Recovery using ROM Manager. I'm so pleased I'm gonna get premium. I see directions! It shows a button for flashing a custom rom that I store on my SD card? Do I dare?
I picked the tmobile thing and so far so good. I got data and just tried a phone call. Happy.
I will follow the other threads now. If a moderator thinks people will get more stupid reading my new thread they may delete it.
I soft bricked
figured out Odin enough to flash back to stock
got root
went to market and installed ROM Manager
turned on wifi as ROM Manager recommended
after a good hookup, I flashed ClockworkMod recovery
Surfed the web, made a phone call, took a picture, uploaded to facebook
Looks like I'm all good.
I'm feeling ready...

apparently they are very similar (but dont get crazy and start installing the tmobile gs2 kernel/roms) - also there is no skyrocket version yet...
but yes cwm does work perfectly from rom manager when you select tmobile gs2
i did this myself the other day... works fine..
just download rom manager, have fun.. good luck
hey ****enbiker would you say your kinda ''noobish'' when it comes to this ? lol I'm just super scared to do this. To avoid voiding my warranty I was even thinking of just saving a check and getting a nexus s to fool around with, but if your new to this and would say ''ALMOST anyone can do it'' I'd say I might be game. I just would like to learn somethings from newer rooters rather than annoy/piss off the Vets!
I have screwed up every phone I got my hands on so not a noob exactly. I am at present using cm7 and considering the new kernel released this morning. What's holding me back is how well it works and how easily I screw up and screen rotation work around is good enough so why flash and set up again... oh I will flash again but just got it all restored back and gotta take it to work tomorrow ...
Yeah pretty much if I can do it anyone can. I really am ignorant compared to a programmer or developer. But not many noobs have broken as much stuff as I have!

YouTube stutters on CM
Okay after I finally settled in with version 4 I have figured out that version 3 it was okay YouTube did not stutter or jerk, it is this new Da_G's kernel when the video went to hell. I remember the problem appeared in version 3 after flashing Da_G's kernel.
I have not tried any other kernel beside Da_G's with version 4. And YouTube is skippy jerking all to our dismay here. Or there, where ever I was to report this, beg pardon.

edit:
I see you don't have to press the power button?
I always begin that way, I press all three at once.
Volume up, volume down, and power.
After it buzzes three times I keep the volume up and down held, but let go of the power button.
I keep the volume up and down held until I see a logo on the screen. Then I let go of the phone and it boots into the scarey black screen with dos writing and you have to navigate with the hardware buttons.
That's how I've been doing it and it puts me into cwm recovery straight from putting the battery back in, every time.
If a true noob is reading this, you're dropping in after I've rooted and then obtained clockworkmod from the market, granted it superuser permissions, and then, after getting past the advertisements, you select to flash clockworkmod.
Also you'll see discussion of not getting a signal and getting an APN. Before you try CyanogenMod or CM7, which is what I use, you take your handset that has a working signal, and download an app from the market called "APN backup and restore" and do a backup of your APN. (not for those who refuse to populate the phone with a chip) (also not for those who don't have a working wifi readily available) Now make sure you have a copy of that on the other chip. The Skyrocket has an internal SD and also an external SD which ATT turns out is too cheap to put one in there when they sell it...
Make sure you have ApnBackupRestore folder with it's xml content on both chips.
Then go to CM7, in the op, get version 4, then go to the kernel thread and get Da_G's kernel, and put them on BOTH sd cards (so you won't have trouble finding it LOL)
And there you have it. Yet another blue collar attempt at helping folks that are smarter than I am that aren't as brave as I am!
Pull the battery, and apparently only hold the two volume buttons after putting the battery back in, never tried it that way! Wipe Data/Factory reset, find the rom and install it, find the kernel and flash that zip as well (install it, trying to help with lingo) reboot, then hook up to wifi, download APN backup/restore from the market (your phone will sync and load it for you when you log in with your google gmail to set up the handset. Run the APN backup and restore app and enjoy CyanogenMod!
My favorite, can you tell, LOL

[DEV & CWM Recovery for Pantech Crossover]

Forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong section. Forgive me if I'm not allowed to post here yet. Just forgive me in general. I don't want to be banned or anything like that. I'm Extremely interested in android development.
I made a working port of ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.8 for the Pantech Crossover. I wanted to do this before I started tinkering around with porting cm7.2. So that I would have a way to backup, restore, and flash new roms, etc... Or else when I make a noob mistake like yesterday and have a non booting phone resulting in having to flash my old boot.img with fastboot...anyways..
DANGER: DRAGONS AHEAD
FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
The method I used to flash the recovery was:
1)adb push recovery.img /sdcard/recovery.img
2)flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
3)repeat step 2 (for some reason it gave me a read error out of memory the first time)
Here's the link to the custom recovery:
http :// dl. dropbox .com /u/20070520/ recovery.img
I know I'm not supposed to post links yet. Remove spaces
I just hope that there are others with the Pantech Crossover that are interested in this and the possible future development of custom roms.
Also if anyone knows if there is a good way to get ahold of koush let me know, so I can give him what he needs to hopefully add this to Rom Manager. I couldn't message him on github because he doesn't have an email set up with it
And while I'm at it. Here's the method for rooting your crossover. I'm not going to provide the files since they can easily be found with a google search.
1: Find a copy of gingerbreak.apk and copy it to your sd card
2: Enable usb debugging and allow installation of non market apps
3: Install gingerbreak
4: Root device with Gingerbreak
5: You can uninstall Gingerbreak when its completed.

Thanks so much for this! I have a friend with a crossover and is always looking for my help with making it work better. I realize this is a newer thread, I was wondering how things were coming along with CM? Anything I can do to help perhaps?
crap i need a rom to fix my crossover the buttons are no longer mapped after a hard reset. please help.
Slow
Well, it's been slow goings so far. I downloaded the open source files for the p8000 and it looks like they just built the original rom from a generic build. I've been trying to get a more customized build setup but I need to do some more reading so far. One of the problems is that instead of an akmd(2) binary for orientation and compass it uses three separate modules. Plus the hci_attach is a bit different as well and so is the bluetooth. So that significantly hampers the ease of even a basic port.
As far as the gentleman with the question about a rom to fix your device. The best I can do right now is to upload a clockwork mod backup after I do a factory reset. I don't get much time to work on this between my wife and daughter.
Also, do you have adb access to your device? Surely it wouldn't be too difficult to adb push the correct keymapping files back to your phone.
You say a hard reset messed up your mappings? What problems were you experiencing prior to the reset?
Crossover
Hello,
I just wanted to let you know that there are people watching your thread. I am very interested in this as my parents have Crossovers and have recently rooted and unlocked them (well, I did) and set them up to work on Net10.
The only issue I've noted is that there are some failures, like the Market refusing to install apps no matter what is done. I'm going to install your ClockworkMod in hopes that later it might be useful.
I realize there isn't a large development scene for the P8k yet, and maybe there won't be but it's always a great hope that those with the capabilities might take pity. I was almost thinking that it might be my foray into actually looking deeper at the code than the small bit I've done.
Kind Regards,
Kaylus

I haven't had any problems with the market refusing to install apps but I do sometimes run across the no connection error with the market when on wifi. Although I did notice this before I rooted my crossover. Sometimes disabling and re-enabling the wifi helps. I really do think it is a bug somewhere in the original rom.
As far as the custom recovery image. Everything seems to be working pretty good. I use it mainly for restoring previous backups. I would say I've restored my backup at least a dozen times. Occasionally it states there was an error restoring .android secure but I have yet to track that down. I need to double check the recovery.fstab to make sure I have everything set right for the mount points.

I'm actually completely stuck at this point. I'm rooted, unlocked, different carrier, APN set correctly. I can access data and voice -- but it just hangs at "Downloading..." on the market. If I factory reset it works initially but after reboot it fails. I'm not quite sure why this occurs and if it is just this phone or a side-effect of using it on a different carrier.
Strangely Wi-fi doesn't resolve it.

I'll give your recovery a run and let you know, if you manage CM7 let me know I know it's a big undertaking. Thanks for the response.
Market Error
As far as the Android Market hanging. I see a few references to it being cause by the .android_secure folder becoming corrupted on the sd card.
One temporary fix suggest moving all the installed apk's back to the phone memory and deleting the .android_secure folder. Then rebooting and moving those apps back to the sd card.
That seems like some wasted time if it doesn't happen to work. I would just turn the phone off, remove the sdcard, and restart (granted any apps that were moved to the sdcard wont work until it is reinserted.) Then I would try to download and install an app. If that works then shutdown, insert sd, and reboot.
I'm really curious if the problems with .android_secure that you and i are having aren't just more bugs in the original rom.
Just as a poster above me said, I am watching this thread and really appreciate everything you are doing. Thanks again.
Well I appreciate the support. I just hope to be able to offer a rom sometime soon. Unfortunately I won't have anymore free time till Tuesday

Pantech Crossover Update
Ahhhhh check out the pantech support page for the crossover. They finally have the Gingerbread update.

Which is great because I soft bricked my phone (don't ask) and this was going to be the only way to fix it.

Mildly related, but have you figured out how to root the gingerbread ROM? I've tried ginger break to no avail.

anyone have a stock image of the 2.2 for android my phone came preupgraded to 2.3.6 and i would like to have it rooted over being on gingerbread since a root method hasnt been found yet for the new firmware
Bricked?
I tried to use the pantech provided gingerbread update this morning. It got about an eighth of the way through and failed. It instructed me to reboot while holding volume up and home and power. That put it in software updating mode. I tried the upgrade 3 more times, it failed at the same point each time. Now my phone is stuck in S/W Updating mode and I can't seem to get it out. I've tried pressing volume up and down for 10 seconds, and pressing volume down and home while powering on, nothing seems to make a difference. Any thoughts about how to at least get me back to froyo?

[Q] Galaxy S2 Skyrocket - CM9 Nightly from July24th

After much reading through these forums, coming from never having flashed a ROM before, I was able to successfully flash and am thus enjoying CM9. I had been waiting for this to come out for the Skyrocket since I bought the phone last year, so, thanks
My question(s) is in relation to CWM Touch. I would like to update CWM to CWM Touch.
1) Is CWM Touch going to foul up any part of CM9? (that is, prior to CM9 i had CWM installed, but now due to "internetz confusionz" am unsure if the current version of CWM after CM9 flash, is one that came with CM9, or not)
2) Where I've read to basically never go near ROM Manager for flashing CM9 for now, what about using it to update its own CWM to CWM Touch? I see the option to do so but when I click it, it reads along the lines of "You must first install CWM before installing Touch"....which i thought i...or at least CM9 did..see question 1.
3) Alternate method to #2, I found " download.clockworkmod.com / recoveries / recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.3-skyrocket.zip "and have downloaded it. I thought perhaps I could simply flash this through CWM itself (due to another post somewhere saying this was ok, but it referenced a SGS2, not a skyrocket). Will doing it this way force me to reinstall CM9 (as yet, still other, posts on the internetz would have me believe?)
Overall the goal is to end up with CWM Touch and not have to reinstall CM9 as i've spent far too long customizing the crap out of (and enjoying) it.
thanks!
This is the general section. This thread belongs in the Q&A section.
General is for anything and everything so don't sweat it man. And for the using of ROM Manager I think you should be good to flash touch through it, although I have never tried. I flashed mine via Odin. As for the question will it affect your cm9 the answer is no.

lolno. If it was for anything then we wouldnt have a Q&A section and it would just be in general.
Although I marked the post as a question during submission, I have no problem with an Admin moving my post to a proper section if it will yield more responses so that I may average out any and all contradictions as well as receive answers to all questions.
thank you
To answer your question, recovery has NOTHING whatsoever to do with a ROM. They are completely independent. You can flash any recovery and it will not affect your ROM. Some ppl had issues with the new CWM recovery so I would recommend you to stay away. I do not know if it was fixed. I would highly recommend sk8terwiki's (sorry sk8 if I butchered the spelling ) 5.5.0.4 v4.2 recovery in the dev section. Its the one I use and it gets the job done. He has a zip that you can flash in CWM. I have not used TWRP but heard good things about it. To install twrp just get goo manager from market, hit menu->install open recovery script.
Sent from my SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
rolled the (weighted) dice based on swisser's response.
I "Installed" CWM via Rom Manager. What this really did was update me from 5.0.0.27 to 5.8.4.3 for the skyrocket (after i chose it from a menu).
*As discussed 30 something pages deep in the CM9 General thread, this **BROKE** the ability to flash anything from *EXTERNAL* SD Cards. Flashing from Internal worked fine, so I rebooted my phone and copied over the 5.8.4.3 CWM Touch i had downloaded from the site in my first post, to my Internal SD Card. Rebooted back to CWM and flashed from internal SD and now i have CWM Touch Working.
I've run out of tools and toys to flash so i haven't tested if CWM Touch will flash from External SD, but according to that thread, it does.
One thing i've noticed *MISSING/REMOVED.../Moved(?)* (basically i couldnt find the ****er) was the ability to Mount USB Storage while in CWM. This was a handy escape route for me previously and i'm sad to see it (seemingly) gone in both TOUCH and NONTOUCH 5.8.4.3
Moved to Q&A. General is not for "anything and everything". General is meant for discussions and or news regarding the device . Questions belong in Q&A. Side note OP did you try looking for you answers in CM9 discussion thread in general as well?
Cheers

^^what prbassplayer said. you really really need to read. if none of these roms are working for you: you either dont have a skyrocket, or you're not reading all of the instructions. check out the dev section and the general section. if you read in both those sections you will find cm9. you could probably read my signature too... but dont go doing that until you do a lot of reading first. =/

[Q] ICS/ParanoidAndroid issues

I've tried searching for the solutions to this, but some of them are difficult to search and I'm struggling to get relevant results. So I apologize if any of this has been covered elsewhere.
Anyhow, I just installed the ParanoidAndroid ROM last night, and it all went very smoothly, and I was pleased. But, there seem to be a couple issues that either I need to iron out, or that the devs need to. And I'm fully willing to believe it's an issue on my end and not theirs, so, here we go:
1) In CWM, the top half of the screen or so has the rainbow glitch going on and there's a de-centered kind of effect happening that makes it very difficult to use.
2) I'm unable to get my external SD card to mount. I've seen plenty of threads about this similar issue, and I've tried tweaking the build.prop entry regarding this, but nothing I'm doing is helping.
3) The flash only works once per boot, even with included flashlight app. I haven't tested the flash's functionality in the camera yet. But in the flashlight app, the flash will turn on, and when I turn it off, it won't come back on until after a reboot.
4) I now have two installations of the stock Gallery app (com.android.gallery3d and com.google.android.gallery3d). I'm sure I can just uninstall one, but is there one that would be wiser to uninstall?
Otherwise, everything else seems to be working just fine. Thank you all very much in advance.
I've since discovered and fixed a new problem. My phone was apparently not sending or receiving any MMS messages, over WiFi or otherwise. But the APNs described in this post fixed that entirely:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23806717#post23806717
As problem #4 from above goes, I deleted the com.android.gallery3d app and kept the com.google.android.gallery3d app as there were internet and syncing features that were omitted or nonfunctional from the former one.
Just so you know, if you read through the paranoid thread in the dev section or any of the ics ROM threads actually, all of your questions r covered. I cangive you answered/jumping off points for your questions.
1. The rainbow distortion comes from having Froyo bootloaders instead of GB. To fix this you will need to use Odin or Heimdall to flash the GB bootloaders. Look in the ISET Super Everything thread that's stickied in the dev section. BE SURE to flash something else with Odin or Heimdall (whichever you choose) before you try flashing the bootloaders. If you lose your connection while trying to flash bootloaders, you can hard brick your phone which basically means you have a shiny coaster.
2. Your external sd card is found in the emmc folder on ics ROMs. You need a root enabled file explorer to open it.
3. Using your camera flash as a flashlight which I believe is referred to as torch is one of the few known remaining bugs on Infuse ics ROMs. The flashlight app that is included is currently the only way to get it working. The flashlight should turn on everytime you open the app but it won't turn back on if you turn it off while in the app.
4. MMS is an issue with the APN settings. Look at the last few pages in the dev section. I know it was recently covered on a couple different ics ROMs threads. To get to the APN settings, go through the following path in the settings.
More (under data usage) > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names, click on the AT&T listing, then change MMS Proxy to 66.209.11.32
I'm pretty sure that is all you have to do to fix MMS but read some dev threads for more info. I think you can also try to look in the Dev Tools app if it is included with the ROM. In the app, click connectivity then start MMS. Again, further reading should give you more info.

Yeah, the flashlight thing, I knew was a known bug. But the latest update claiming that "all bugs squashed" misled me, I guess. Because that bug obviously persists. But, c'est la vie.
As the rainbow glitch goes, I never installed Froyo on here, I went from stock to Gingerbread to... actually, here's specifically what happened:
•Initially, I installed 3e Recovery and CWM on my stock Android 2.2 per the instructions here, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y09p-J_g_Rg, and everything went fine.
•Then I flashed Gingerbread UCLB3 per this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508619, but unfortunately, I made a dumb mistake. I neglected to disable Voodoo Lagfix first and softbricked my phone.
•So, I went back to the Infuse Super Everything Thread and found this fix, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092021, brought my phone back to stock, just fine.
•Then I flashed to UCLB3 the same way as before, only this time disabling Voodoo and it all worked perfectly.
•Then I immediately flashed to ParanoidAndroid and everything went as described in the thread and now here I am with the CWM glitch.
So I've only been stock or Gingerbread ever before on my phone.
Anyone know how to simply change the font or install a new one?
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
I use ROM Toolbox Pro.
Edit: Check the Paranoid Android dev thread end of page 32 and beginning of page 33. The guy that maintains the PA port just posted a link and instructions for the fix to rainbow recovery.
I'm no expert so I may b wrong but I'm pretty sure that if you had a stock AT&T infuse then it most likely came with Froyo originally. Just bc you flashed a GB ROM doesn't mean you got the bootloaders. To get the GB bootloaders, you need to run Heimdall a second time with the "Install Bootloaders" checkbox checked. I'm not exactly sure how it works in Odin but I think you have to have a file in the PDA slot in order to get the bootloaders installed.
I do know that if you have rainbows, it is bc you have Froyo bootloaders. Our at least that is the only reason I've ever heard of and I've read of people with the issue numerous times. I would just read through some of the dev ics threads bc there have been a few times in the last week that I've seen people pay steep by step instructions explaining exactly which Heimdall or Odin to use. I just know that you have to take extra steps to install GB bootloaders. With Heimdall that means checking the flash bootloaders checkbox. They do this bc it can hard brick your phone so they don't want you to install them unless absolutely necessary.

Ah-ha! Very good, someone else is having my same problems, lol. I'll definitely be using Odin, as that's how I fixed my softbrick issue and I could never get Heimdall to install on my computer properly (Java issues or something, couldn't figure it out and Odin worked anyway).
Do you know if flashing the bootloader will cause any loss of information or settings? Or will it affect nothing else?
I'm not 100% sure on that one. When I did it, I was using Heimdall to fix my soft bricked phone at the same time so I was basically starting fresh. I'm not sure if it is possible to just flash bootloaders in the Odin PDA slot and keep everything else. I would assume that you would lose everything and have to reflash the ROM from recovery but that's just an assumption.
I would get titanium backup (if u don't already have it) and backup everything and sync with your Gmail account just in case. That way u can save it apps and their settings.
You may b able to ask that question on the PA dev thread and get a better answer.

There's an XDA Forum restriction on newbies. I can't post in any Dev forums until I've... done something, I forget. Ten posts or ten thanks. I forget what. Either way, I'm not allowed in there yet. lol
Anyhow, based on some threads I've found, it seems possible to flash only the bootloader in Odin. I'm still just waiting to find out how much information is lost in the process before I dive into it.
But yeah, I do have Titanium, and now that I have everything installed and set up just the way I like it, it is time for a backup anyway.
Supposing I need to, is there any problem restoring system apps and data once I do this? Because everything will be identical, minus the bootloader. I just know I've read enough about the dangers of restoring system data on the threads here to be cautious. Even though I'll just be going from ParanoidAndroid to the same flash of ParanoidAndroid, plus a new bootloader, but better safe than sorry.
Thanks for all your help, man.
Appears as though that question's already been answered here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1603220&page=5
Bottom of page 5 states somewhat affirmatively that no data will be lost. So, lovely. Now I've just got to flash the bootloader, and then work on my forum searching skills. I can never find ****, when clearly it's somewhere. lol

[Q] noob trying get redemption rom on GT-n8013

Trying to smooth out my tablet before college stats back up. My model is a gt-n8013, and i have already downloaded the files for the Redemption Rom onto the internal storage, and did the zedomax root. I am currently staring at the cwm mode, and a bit unsure of how to proceed. I read through every post of the original thread for the note 10.1 redemption rom, and tried to put my first post there, but was redirected to the Q&A. I would really appreciate if someone gave a clear-cut (for dummies, if you want to call it that) step by step on what thing to selected, in order, while in (high-on-android) CWM mode? also I am unsure if i am to use the whole downloaded file i got for the rom, or just select certain files that are specific to my GT-n8013. I did spend hours reading through every post in the original thread as well as many other things on google, but I am still a bit confused on where to go to get it right. I apologize for any inconvenience, and greatly thank all of you in advance, as you have helped me find out just how limitless things can be.
Also, I have never heard of aroma, and can't find out how to get into it on cwm...

If your in cwm first thing is to back up your stock rom to external SD.
