i think CM9.1 is the best :good:

aokp build #8

Best way to choose rom for you is to check out what the roms offer, for me one is best for you maybe something totally different, so check out the threads and make a choice, if you don't want to do even this its better to stick with stock.
Sent from my HTC Explorer A310e using xda app-developers app

everyone has a different perception of what's best so asking others won't help.
Make a list of what features you want in the rom then check in the different rom's thread. Select the one which has the most features from your list and that rom would be the best for you

most stable has no bugs

i wanna rom wid no bugs and full lworking camera and other features thnks for ur repliies
if u can provide me llinks that wll be awsome

in that case, i would recommend you cyanogenmod 9.1 nightly build 11 by ayushrox. i, personally, have used it.
what you will love is, without any calibaration or battery saver app, you get 9-10 hours of battery backup with moderate internet usage (2G-3G auto switch).
for me, the camera crashed 4-5 times, the first time i flashed it. (camera caputers more clearer pictures) but, later all worked fine. i found usb tethering to be a bit unstable.
still you, will love it. less ram usage. increased internal space. hardware acceleration. it's lovely bargain. :good:
no fm radio !! :crying: i love listening to local fm radio stations.

I played Temple run & Dead Trigger.
Temple Run needs spontaneous touch gesture input & Dead Trigger requires the same but, also has to provide high-end graphcis as much supported by our gpu, simultaneously.
Now, in cm9 rom, the processor & ram management are done alongwith hardware acceleration (ics's legacy feature). So, Temple Run performed good. And, Dead Trigger impressed me with it's fast graphics rendering (high end games like this, tend to eat up your battery, but the cm9 rom lasted the battery for longer times  )
So, overall verdict is, high end / hd / large games will take some time loading first, once you start playing, you will love the experience.
Though i would recommend using Advanced Task Killer (or something else to kill all your running apps), so as to free up ram for the game. I use the Game Speeder feature in Advanced Mobile Care app. It does the same thing in one click & optimizes your phone too.

priyansh03 ... can you please provide the link of what you are saying ?
and btw, htc sense 4.0 is a firmware (UI). it cannot be a rom, because rom is an operating system.
the rom can be based on gb / ics / jb with htc sense 4.0 as UI.

[Q] Buying an Inspire when it's back in stock..

So I'll be coming from a S***sung Craptivate after it killed its own memory, resulting in not having enough room to load a back-up or a fresh ROM after a full wipe. (Phone is actually in two pieces, divided straight across the center) I had the phone flashed with a rooted deodexed and lagfixed ROM (Paragon RC6) and undervolted and stock clock speed (1ghz). I also had a different launcher, text based icons, widgetlocker, basically nothing was "stock" about it, but that was out of need, to fix the shutdown problem, the crappy GPS, the crappy sound, the crappy speed, the crappy lag.. etc etc..
I will be buying a Desire when it is back in stock locally, hopefully with tomorrow's shipment. But I have a few questions...
How much different is everything about modding this phone? I've read the guides and the stickies, and liking the Ingersol ROM (with just a battery notification mod, would like it to be white and turn red below 15% instead of the crazy colors it does.)
I only have 3 questions really... but one or more may become more. Please bare with me.
1. It looks like to root I'd have to DOWNGRADE.. what does this downgrade affect, or is an up-to-date version flashed after the root?
2. Can anybody tell me what HTC Sense is all about? Is it the launcher? It seems like a combination of apps already out there but from HTC (Flip to silence for example). What do I lose by going with a non-sense ROM? Also I take it using Desire based ROMs don't use Sense? But why would people want to use a ROM based off a different phone altogether?
3. Gingerbread ROMs (CM7 and the like) were buggier than all hell on the Captivate. Sure it looked good (but that's theming) and was supposed to be fast, but all over the Craptivate develpment forums was posts about widgets/apps not working, not refreshing, or force closing constantly with 2.3.3. A lot of the phones functionality was lost too, like the ability to take pictures, or use it for social networking (Facebook not working..). How do the 2.3.3 ROMs take to the Inspire?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advanced!
You need to downgrade to get unknown sources back. HTC sense is basically a theme that designed for there phone if I'm not mistaking. The gingerbread themes here are very smooth and good. You will encounter bugs but that will always be fix from the developers

It only enables the exploit to get S-OFF (think recovery 2e from the Captivate, vs 3e which required signed update.zip's). Once done, you don't have to worry about it again. There are plenty of stock based ROM's like TPC or dilligaf for you to choose from if you so desire.

Sense is more than the launcher, it is a complete rework of the Android framework, like TouchWiz, but nowhere near as craptacular. It is actually useful. Any HTC sourced ROM will originally have Sense in it, but some HTC ROM's that say "no-sense" have a good chunk of that removed and are more like AOSP Android, but not quite all the way. Then there are other ROM's like CyanogenMod, which are based on actual Google AOSP code and have NO HTC software in them. It really is your choice which to use. I tend to flip between them. My personal favorites are CM7 and RCMixHD 5.9.4. I would flash them both to see what your preference is.

They work perfectly, with only the minorest of troubles that tend to be app specific, like the Gmail word wrap issue(which is not even a big deal at all). I haven't used a Froyo ROM in weeks.
And finally, welcome from another former Craptivate user! You will be MUCH happier with this phone.
Thanks!
In terms of stability, "snappiness" (at 1ghz clock speed), and resource consumption/management, is there a noticeable difference between Sense based, and AOSP based ROMs?
I'm also looking for decent battery life. I understand that screen on time and brightness, along with reception are the biggest consumers, but do one of the above based ROMs seem to do a better job of managing power consumption?
I am pretty weary of flashing a GB ROM just because of the numerous compatibility issues that I witnessed on the craptivate forum..
On the RCmix ROM, does it come overclocked by default? It says to use SetCPU to adjust it, so I'm assuming it runs at 1.0 ghz right off the flash? That ROM along with the theme with the white notification bar icons seems to be what I'll be flashing first. Thanks for the helpful information thus far!

The only thing about sense that really eats battery is the constant data usage of the HTC sense account, if you don't set up an account, your battery life should be rather good. As far as the gb roms they are all working very well, and you will find a small bug here and there, but all the major roms are very good daily drivers.
Most of the roms here have numorous tweaks for stability and snappiness, and you would probably be pleased with any of the major ones. I would say there is more difference between stock sense and tweaked sense than tweaked sense and no sense as far as performance goes. I ran stock for all of a few hours when I got this phone, and have been on a few roms with and without sense, and all of them have been very snappy and smooth.
Any of the major roms that support clock speed adjustments will use setcpu to adjust it, you can run at basically any speed setcpu lets you(within reason, and check the rom post for exceptions and recomendations) I currently run at a maximum of 1.5ghz on miui and my battery life is just as good as it was running 1.2ghz on android revolution.
And last but not least, don't be afraid of gingerbread here, most major bugs have been worked out and 90% of the problems posted about are due to the installer, not the rom.
Welcome aboard!

Just an add on note:
Gingerbread sense ROMs do not have overclocking right now. But really they are so butter smooth especially when compared to a captivate. RCMix5.9.3 has no compatibility issues I have found.

Yep they are GB. There is also Ultimate Droid, which I am using now. This is the best ROM I have used so far, but all of them have been rock solid as far as performance goes. I don't think you will find a bad ROM on here. You will recognize some of the devs from the captivate forums.
As for my battery life. I have been unplugged for just over 15hrs and I am down to 21%. That is with 2 push email accounts, 3 hours streaming rhapsody, 2 hours mp3 music, 30 mins of calls, and about 1 hour of browsing/gaming. It also helps that I am on wifi for 90% of the day.

Are there any benefits of going with the GB version of RCmix versus the Froyo version? Basically I don't feel comfortable flashing an OS not designed for the device so I'm leaning towards the Froyo based version of that ROM.

I am using bruces CM10 ROM. Working great!
I'm on DragunKorr's Paranoid Android 2.11.
Buttery as hell and i love the hybrid modes. It's not 100% working yet, but the missing elements are so minor that they don't affect me for how I use my phone.
If I weren't using this, I'd be on Bruce's CM10. He really set the standard there with that one and it's only cos I love the hybrid modes that I'm not using it.
Both ROMs have breathed new life into my phone - finally, the full power of the sensation has been realised!!!
pyromod CM9 here, pretty stable and fast. Good battery life too. I would definitely suggest it.
On Bruce's cmx and enjoying it very much very pleased that the CRT animations are fully functioning and the stock SMS app had pop ups now like hand cent does ^^ once they manage to get the front facing camera functioning I will never leave it I have also used berserk mode on by memnoc which I thought was very nice but the fact that I couldn't use wii remotes through Bluetooth on my emulators pushed me to full aosp not too sure where I am going with this aside from Bruce's cmX is highly recommended by me  front facing camera and usbotg is all we need now

What about battery life, how is it?
I've tried several different roms. Virtuous Inquisition is good but it was giving me wrong battery reading, kept jumping up and down and I couldn't tell how much battery I had. CM9 is nice but the front facing camera doesn't work (at least on the versions I've tried). CM10 Jelly Bean by Bruce is great but it's unfinished, a couple of things are not working (front facing camera for 1).
I'm on ViperS 1.2.1 right now and I LOVE it. The rom is pretty fast and stable. I enjoy the tweaks the devs have put on it a lot. Battery life is pretty decent. I got around 18 hours on average use.
I think if you want speed and smoothness, go for the CM or AOSP builds, they beat all other in that department. I personally enjoy Sense 4 so I go with Viper S.
I used HyperNonSense for 5 months and just flashed Android Revolution HD an hour ago, no reason other than trying new rom
you have not forgotten anything? smartdroid daemon sense 4? I do not see
Used OpenSensation for some time and was very satisfied except that many icons and fonts are just too small for me. Switched to Anroid Revolution HD 6.7.2 and I love it.
Battery life is just average I think. Since I disabled Wifi, I can live with it.

Hi there, I'm using Viper Rom. I am happy with it! The update had made it much better I do have some weird issues sometimes like Bluetooth turning on by itself but for me that's about the only negative issue I'm experiencing. I do like the customization and really like sense 4.1. I would like to see better battery life from the Rom.but I'm now using sebastian kernel with mod and a slight under volt plus a new mugen battery and I've actually managed to stay on 100% for three hours! Thank God! So hopefully the battery issue is solved. But all in all for the people who like sense roms, yes I would recommend viper. Hope this information helps some how and I wish you the best!

I use Viper 1.3.0
Major categories of custom ROM according to me are -
Sense based - sense 4.0 based or
Sense 3.6 based
sense 4 based
Eg viper, insertcoin, ordroid etc
Sense 3.6 based -
Eg arhd, elegancia, etc
IPhone look - MIUI
Samsung look - cyanogen mod
Plain android - AOKP/AOSP Based
I have very less experience on these. I prefer sense based.

(Q) What would it take for slimics

I was on the galaxy s2/3 forums and I found alot of slim and basic roms, aka slimics and slimbean. I'm very interested in getting a Rom that could potentially be 60mb, or maybe 70mb due to our qHd display. What would it take to begin porting or building one from source?

And most of that size reduction is just stripping out apps so the user can add only what he or she wants to to.
Hyper NonSense also stripped out Rosie and all most Sense UI framework, essentially leaving it as a defacto AOSP rom (even though it was still Sense at it's core) That removed a good amount of size, but the bulk of the small size was that it came with just the bare essentialls for it to boot. If you wanted SMS, you had to add the SMS app you wanted. Etc etc etc
That said, it worked great. I loved that ROM for several months.
Check codename Lungo. I have not tried it but probably is what you are looking for http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1930403.

Best ROM
The best and lightest rom I ever used and belive me i tried them all it's hypernonsense. It keeps the good sense camera , it's light, I ususaly have 300 MB RAM free, the battery life it's the best.I usualy get 2 days with 3,6-4 hrs of sceen time.
My settings are :2G only , minimum brightness , data disabled, wifi off when phone is sleeping , autosync every 30 min.
I liked albino's and bruce ROM too but there are still bug's , and MHL isn't working.
Worst ROM's for performance and battery were Sense 4.x ROM's but i liked the interface and customizations.
Sense 3.6 are a little lighter but still eat the battery and slow the phone.
Hypernonsense just flyes and has all the features.

Bug-free AOSP rom?

So I've tested many roms here on xda and I can clearly say that I couldn't find any bugless fom. (No offence for devs) When I used to usd HTC Desire there was an oxygen rom which was really bug free. (I've reached 1000hrs uptime without even single FC) Does rom like this exist for sensation? I don't care about android version.

That's not really true EVERY Rom no matter the dev or company has bug's. That's why updates are always released . Since your asking for a bug free rom i am using a sense 4.1 rom with no Major bug's well tbh i been using for 1 week and not any bug's i found with anything and i have tested it to the max over clocked to 1.7GHz and runs like a rocket. Let me know if you want ill upload to dev host x
Albinomans latest is basically bug free
Only MHL doesn't work

Vipers 1.6.3 is pretty, full customisable, fast and smoothness (Sense 4.1 based)

No FC doesn't mean there is no bug. It might also be that you haven't used all the features yet. There are bugs where something doesn't work in the intended way, but without FC.
Any product, just any, has to have bugs. Do you know how many testers are paid worldwide?!

Depends on your requirements for phone usage:
-Gingerbread rom = battery last mosts, lowest battery drain, not very stylish, used for watching movies or gaming for it's around 200MB free Ram and long phone usage with Wifi.
Rom i recommend: GingerSnap from neko95's blog site.
-IceCreamSandwich: this one has a little less battery life and free ram, but it has better UI, greater app compatibility, It's something between Gingerbread and JellyBean.
Rom i recommend: IcySnap again by neko95.
-JellyBean: if it weren't for the big battery drain - expecially when on Wifi, I would choose this. You definitely need sdext script for its low free internal storage, will experience some stress when you need to do something fast but your phone start lagging as hell suddenly. Oh, wifi teathering has still some issues. Definitely not for gaming. But I'd still go with this if it weren't for the big battery drain.
Rom i recommend: CM10.1.6, get it from my thread "Jenkins" or search for "jenkins armv6" on google.
If it's for your GF why not stick with stock rom?

For GB, I experience OXYGEN by popdog is very smooth and fast for gaming in particular compared to Neko's GingerSnap. Of course, need comprise on UI.

Kitkat themed...why didn't you've said so in the beginning..
There is a Kitkat themed ROM based on latest stable JB, Link will be given in next edit.
Edit 1: All the ROMs for P500 have built-in kernel, you don't need to flash another kernel cos the build-in is probably the best for the ROM.
Edit 2: Here's the link .

LOL, I just going to say the same rom as MW, the themed kit kat 4.2. It has a all the features (specially the bluethooth working), and has kit kat experience. But battery is not as draining as you said, yesterday I went all the night with 5%. The wifi is the only battery killer, but otherwise not too much. I use the one power guard to save battery and is the heaven.
Well the Kitkat is based off CM10 and yes, CM10 has the biggest battery drain.
You wanted Kitkat themed alike and noting comes close as that ROM, still no-one said it would be perfect
If I were you, I would just get ICS ROM and get some Kitkat theme for homelaucher and theme manager. Satisfy both battery and kitkat UI
