help restoring after soft brick - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Well i soft bricked my vibrant 4g and cannot get any of the says ive seen to work to restore it....i found this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223765 but when it says to put in the pit and pda files on the first part....my computer doesnt list them anywhere and its very frustrating...what exactly is the file called after it downloads...can someone help me i have been without a phone for tooo long!!

Do you have a vibrant(t959) or a galaxy s 4g(t959v)?
If you have a galaxy s 4g then put it in download mode and one-click back to stock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19601787
If you have trouble with getting into download mode there's a guide for that, if you have trouble with your phone being recognized by your pc assuming it's windows plug in the phone in download mode and go into device manager and delete all the USB drivers, reboot and try again.
Lumin also has a nearly noob-proof guide that everyone swears by.

And if you have a vibrant you're in the wrong forum. Don't do anything I said.

[Q] Samsung Captivate Hard Brick :(

Hi,
I installed cynogenmod 7 on my captivate, but due to some issue regarding TV out I tried to uninstall it. I used one-click stock 2.1 ODIN to go back to stock. But now my samsung captivate is not working at all. I am using charged battery, but the phone does not start at all. It only goes into download mode and nothing else. ODIN hangs at factoryfs.rfs. I have tried almost all methods on xda forum and tried almost everything from google searches. Nothing is working. I used Win 7, Vista and XP and 2 different computers. The phone is not recognized by the PC many times.
I talked to someone and he said that my phone has hard-bricked. And it needs advanced soldering and a special box to repair the phone. Can anyone help me, please?
Thanks!
you might be able to hard reset it. unless you totally effed the EEProm. which the only way to fix is to put it into Developer Mode and try to put a Stock EEprom back on it. (or find the ClearCMOS pins and short them)
chalk this up to a learning experience, better to learn a little at a time than to just dive to the bottom of the ocean with no recovery.
do you even know about the hardware in it? if you did, you could grab the developer tools. (I like QPST and QDXM myself)
backup the important stuff, just so in case you totally brick the thing.
I do not know anything about the hardware in my samsung captivate. The phone connects to the computer some times. Device manager shows Samsung USB Component Device and Samsung Mobile Modem #2 in Win 7 64bit. But QPST, QDXM and adb devices do not recognize the phone. ODIN recognizes it but now ODIN is stuck at <ID:0/005> File analysis..
Since the phone does not start at all, I can not hard reset it. Nor can I go into developer mode. It only goes into download mode saying "Do not turn off target!".
Do you think there is a way to repair / unbrick the device? Can you guide me through the steps, please?
Have you tried taking out the battery and the sim card and then putting the battery back in and using the 3 button method to get into download mode so odin will recognize you? Or have you tried buying/making a JIG?

[Fixed] HELP: phone will not go into download, recovery, or boot up :\

I'm going to be honest. I flashed the wrong .zip file on my Infuse (just swapped SD cards over from my SGSi9000)...
... and well, it did not end well. I cannot boot up, go into recovery or download. ADB does not recognize the device, and I cannot use the Ultimate Unbrick.
I need help recovering it. :\
Thanks. I'm stupid.
Did you: Remove battery, replace battery, then while holding 'Both' volume buttons plug in the USB cable that is attached to you computer?
Did your computer recognize your phone before? If not install samsung usb drivers. If so, try a different usb cable.
Been there done that. But when it happened to me I had an image of a phone being connected to the pc instead of the samsung splash screen. But other than that there was no recovery download or boot. So I just did ultimate unbrick and it somehow saved me...

Ok! Changed USB cables to the one I'm guessing came with the phone (lol; I need to separate my SGS stuff). Both made by Samsung so I didn't think it would make a difference....
So I'm in download mode; however, the device is not recognized by Odin for Ultimate Unbrick.
Looked up that the best way to completely get all the drivers is to install Kies?
AH!!! Rejoice! My phone has been resurrected.
Thanks for the responses

Ok relax ive had that problem before, and theres a few options.
1.- Did you installed Heimdall drivers? Because if you did you have to revert them so Odin can recognize the phone, if you didnt then ignore this point.
2.- The Odin provided on this link usually worked for me: http://www.mediafire.com/?8rf8jo1r8kw88ql (property of h8rift all credit to him heres his whole post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092021&highlight=stock)
3.- You can use AdamOutlers One click back to stock package wich will simplify a lot the process: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331381&highlight=stock
Its a self executable file that will do all the work for you.
Surely one of those will solve it
Thanks so much, i really apreciate this. If you had a pay pal i would have surely donated. I will let you know how it goes.
nothing is working, im panicing!

[Q] Soft Brick sgs4g HELP PLEASE!!

I accidentally flashed a kernel for a vibrant onto my sgs4g. This isn't my first flash and I wouldn't consider myself a beginner. I just didn't realize that my phone wasn't the vibrant until after the fact. After I flashed this my phone would only boot into cwmr if the sdcard was in. I'm assuming this was because the update.zip was on the sdcard. However if i tried to flash from zip on sd card the device said that the sd card wasnt detected. I'm stuck on the samsung logo screen and I have been able to get the phone into download mode. I tried using heimdall to go back to stock gingerbread, but my computer wouldn't recognize the device. I have another sgs4g that works fine. I put it in download mode and the computer recognized it just fine. I'm pretty sure that if i could get my computer to recognize the device that the heimdall would fix it. If anyone has any idea how to get my computer to detect it, it would be greatly appreciated! Not sure where to go from here. Is it bricked for good if the computer wont recognize it? Thanks!
Even if it doesn't recognize your device using heimdall, just double click on the Jar file and you will notice that the status of heimdall says Connected. Flash once then flash again without leaving heimdall with the option flash boot loader checked. The package of one click contains the drivers within it, you don't have to do anything. It is really a one click solution, double click actually on some systems

No, it doesn't say connected. The computer will not recognize the device. If I plug in one device it will connect and the soft bricked device will not. Is there anyway I can force it to connect? To be specific I flashed fluid kernel for the vibrant onto the sgs4g and it soft bricked it.

Odin Broke my Phone, Flashed TWRP Using Odin 3.10.7

I went into Odin mode and flashed TWRP in the AP/PDA as all tutorials say (I am skeptical about that, I think this is what caused my phone to brick. BL obviously stands for bootloader, but I wasn't going to question the experts). Afterwards, I went to restart my phone and now I only boot to a broken Odin mode which says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again." I cannot turn it off without taking the battery out, it reboots immediately. I tried plugging my phone in and running Kies, but I left it to detect devices for 10 minutes and it was still attempting to connect to my SGS2. I have absolutely no idea what to do, I've never gotten this message in Odin before. It was tricky to even get Kies as Samsung took down their link and replaced it with SmartSwitch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
idk which tutorial youve read but you should of read mine, it uses odin3v1.87 and only pda is ever used and/or needed for the skyrocket.
u could be sol but trying my tut shouldnt hurt.
if theres life theres a chance for it to be revived.
you could try flashing twrp or better yet a full stock firmware so all partitions get reformatted/repartitioned correctly, fingers crossed.

Thanks; the only problem is that I can't even flash anything at the moment. My phone needs Kies and the drivers first, the Odin/download and recovery modes cannot be accessed otherwise. Kies has never had my phone drivers beforehand as I never had Kies before my phone had problems I should have looked harder for more detailed tutorials like yours first (one of many oversights that I neglected as a newbie). I also forgot to mention I visited the cm wiki to try to flash a newer custom OS and the tutorial asked for Windows users to use Heimdall suite, which failed to work properly in Windows 10 (at least for me). I used it to install a driver which may have replaced my Kies driver but now that I had uninstalled Kies completely and reinstalled it just after my phone broke, I no longer have a way of getting those drivers back since Kies apparently uses the history of my connected phones to install the drivers. I may be completely wrong (I feel I am) so please correct me.
thers a stand alone usb drivers link in the 1stop thread under the utilities section

Well it's not the drivers. Kies simply won't connect for whatever reason. I've tried Kies emergency recovery but it needs my phone to have been plugged in to another computer somewhere in order to get a recovery code or I need Kies to simply detect my phone. I've installed the new drivers multiple times but it doesn't change any results.
fyi you dont need kies for any of my tutorials.
uninstall kies, restart pc and reinstall standalone usb drivers and restart pc.
then follow my guides to the "t"
