I'm trying to install Xubuntu with the CD. I know that I can just click the install button on the desktop. But what trouble's me is this.

I can easily erase disk but I want to keep my Windows 7 Partition and as I'm seeing the Erase disk option erases your windows 7 partition. I select the 'Something else...' Option to see if I can make a separate partition to Dual Boot from Linux to Windows. Well I'm stuck here.
Can anyone help a fellow newbie here?

Screenies were misplaced. But the last one is the one I wanted to place inline. Where it says I got stuck.

Uh.
Re-install Windows. Don't know if there's a way to restore it, sorry - I'm a n00b with this sort of thing, too - I'd have to Google it. I have no idea if you just formatted the whole HDD or if the data is still there or not written over enough as to be able to be retrieved or what. Partitioning is something I have never had much call to do on my own.
Then go to the Ubuntu web-site and use their Windows 7 installer. It will let you pick Xubuntu when you install - and it will dual-boot and does everything automatically. That's how I did it because I'm a n00b and didn't want to screw anything up.
Your getting no help because this isn't a computer help forum this is a mobile device development forum. There is a thread in the off topic sub forum for computer help use that. Or head over to the Ubuntu help forums

tried to reinstall the system through DOS?
---------- Post added at 08:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:18 PM ----------
Go to the DOS boot then set and the first to set up boot CD-R or USB flash drive there because I do not know of which you are installing
Please simplify,im a noob when it comes to pcs...

Hey first remove your RAM and clean them. And reboot if works then good else install new copy of windows with media.
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
When you turn the system first boots hard drives, etc. At this point, press DEL and entering in DOS mode, there should be a tab or something related to the boot and give 1st CD-R, for example, now you give the disk a second time while turning kompa after a reboot instead of pressing DEL, F8, and then should be the selection of the drive for installation and the installation process itself probably does not need to explain
You mean entering bios?

After getting the windows install it with formatting the partition where you installed the system. Disappear, viruses and other pests if any were.
You should just burn a Linux distro ISO from another PC and boot that up. If that fails, I recommend trying UBCD to debug HW issues.
If it boots into linux, you can mount your ntfs volume(s) and copy any important data off to an external drive.
THen you can do a clean windows install or even better, just install Linux
For linux beginners, I recommend Linux Mint.
Hi all i know there are various other threads in google on installing whatsapp on a tablet but some of the info seems outdated some is confusing some requires root.
I was wondering if anyone has successfully installed whatsapp on there 10.1 without root, as stated in the title i have whatsapp on my note 2, can i not just copy the files somehow and paste them into my 10.1? A step by step guide would be very helpful i know im not alone on this as it seems quite a popular problem on google.
This is what i see when trying to install whatsapp normally...

Would there not be a way for someone clever to just modify the installer so it installed on the 10.1?
Sent from my GT-N8010 using xda app-developers app
I don't think there's any way to do that as the issue isn't local, it needs a sim card to set itself up with whatsapps servers.
I have it on my N8010 but I am rooted and sideloaded the app using Titanium.

This has worked for me on my Nexus 7 WiFi:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30498475
I just successfully installed Whatsapp on my 10.1 using the following technique which does not require root:
http://androidforums.com/nexus-7/62...-nexus-7-without-root-updated-12-02-12-a.html
You used to be able to back up the app with TiBU on your smartphone and then restore it + data on your tablet. I'm not sure if it still works that way.

Big thanks ... i copied the android forum version but with the latest whatsapp from the official site as i was given a 6 digit code on bluestacks whatsapp not a 3 digit code as stated in the instructions. i did run appguard on the tablet install though as stated and blocked phone permission. i got the code via bluestacks whatsapp on my pc as stated after entering my mob number. Funny thing was after all the effort it didnt even ask me for the code on my tablet. But its working!
BIG THANKS

Also I am on 4.2.2. Just got phone today and spent a good 2 hours trying before asking for help! Hopefully it's a dumb mistake on my end and is an easy fix

The furthest ive gotten is doing it manually in cmd and it says the image file is not a loki image and when it boots recovery its blank black screen. No one has any help for me? Should i try going back to stock recovery first? How do i do that?

So you'll never guess what happened. I woke up next to my phone and it was in cwm! But guess what?! My phone did the OTA on its own while I was asleep and bricked my 2 day old phone! Any help WITHOUT using Linux? I can't even get into recovery anymore because I tried to install another recovery zip to fix it and now there is no recovery

I'm making an appointment with geeksquad (phone came from best buy) and the service rep I talked to said they'd most likely replace it for me. If not, my computer asks me if I want to format the drive (repeatedly when I plug it in with every drive letter of the alphabet) what would happen if I did?
Sent from my P9070 using Tapatalk
Just restore back to stock. There is a lot of info on how to do this on this forum. You don't need the geek squad.

This is for hangouts and chrome and things but the only problem I have is with play games and google now. Any chance you'd know what to do with that? ?

I'm sorry but I can't find anything else regarding your problem on XDA. Have you tried contacting Google regarding your issue. Click on the help when you get that pop up.
I actually kind of solved it. All you have to do is download hosts editor(you need root) and when you open it all you have to do is add the things found in here. Don't add the things that are already there.

I'm glad you got it resolved! I'll close this thread now.
Hello. I just wanted to restore my nexus 5 and i used NRT for it. I pressed restore and after that it startet booting. Now the phone turned on and it wrote: optimalizing (starting apps) 2 of 2. After that it restarted again. I know i was stuck in bootlomp. My pc is not working properly and 90% of images i downloaded were corrupted. In flashing in hashcheck it wrote missmatch. There is photo that i dont know if it is ok but i will post it anyway.

There is a guide to how install the drivers in NRT. Idk where exactly. Just have look. As I remember it right it should work without have your N5 connected.

i tried it, but it didn´t work for me. NRT were not able to find my phone. Is there any other plan to fix this by any other app or something else?
Don't use a tool kit. Just flash the factory image using fastboot. See the general forum for the sticky on how to flash a factory image.
