I was using my Fuze the other day, and was scrolling down a website with the stylus, when all of a sudden the god damn stylus scratched my screen. As you can imagine i was mortified and shocked. A big gash only a week into owning my beautiful new fuze. So i take it in and tell them what happened and they gladly replaced the phone. Nice people! Guess the 30 day period does cover scratches, if by stylus!
thats odd, glad they swapped it for you. was your stylus's point sharper then usual?

It's a good thing to treat your new styli to a bit of emery cloth before you start playing.
Erm... The first thing I did when I got my fuze was throw on that screen protector. Would be foolish if ya didn't do that the second go round.

When you say "that" screen protector. Are you saying they provided one with the FUZE in the box? Or did you buy one separately?
Yes one does come inside the box.
I was applying my invisible shield today and a little bit of the solution got into the earpiece duct, about 10 minutes later my touch screen was no longer functional. I've already returned my phone and getting a new one Saturday. Be careful with your phones guys, a little liquid and its all over.
I love the included screen protector. I've used alot of protectors over the past decade and the stock one holds up better than most (especially for free). I still don't have so much as a blemish on it even with alot of active use and it traveling in my pocket (but no keys). And it's such a good fit that when people check out my phone they tell me that, "You really should get a screen protector before you get any scratches on the glass."
Joke's on them.
I never even looked in the bag with the quick start guide, sure enough a screen protector and another screen protector that comes on the phone with all the warnings on it.
Included protector
Does anyone know the manufacturer of the included protector?
I didn't get mine aligned properly, some dust started peeling it from the corner so I had to ditch it and got an invisible shield, but I liked the included one because until you get use to it, the invible shield takes some getting use to.
Just peel your included screen protector off, wash it with some soapy water, and reapply it to your screen again (while still damp, but not drippy wet). Smooth it out and gently move all the bubbles of water out to the edges of the screen, and voila.
It doesn't specifically use a tacky glue so you can reapply it again and again. I do the same trick on my DS for perfectly clear and aligned protection.
Same trick people that tinted my car windows used for getting the plastic onto glass.

Did you wait 12-24hr before putting the battery back in and powering it up after installing the invisibleshield? Because you are supposed to, to prevent exactly what happened.
Dang It, I need to double check my trash. I had no idea they provided a screen protector. It was in a bag with the quick start guide?

I don't own a Nexus S (I'm here doing research ) but that seems like something normal?
If you have a protected surface next to unprotected ones on the same area, it'll get less UV exposure and there will be some very light wear on the unprotected areas that might look perfect to your eye but because of these micro abrasions they're more likely to retain oil/dust/etc.
One of the very main reasons why I don't like screen protectors is that the phone doesn't "age" uniformly .

It seems that buying a new Nexus S online was not an option available for you ....
However , I would not spend more time trying to clean the screen with different things , those screen are fragile and I'm sure you don't wanna mess it up more than it is ...

Honestly, who protects just the "touchscreen" part of the screen?
I mean as much as I can gather from the pictures, the screen protector only covered the 4 inch screen not the whole front of the phone. Was it cheaper or something?
It's normal for the oleophobic coating to fade. Not using any screen protector from now on will probably result in it evening out in time.
If it's that distracting, just buy a full size screen protector, clean the screen really well and apply it. Wet application screen protectors are best on the nexus because they stick to the curved screen better.

What Flukzr said, the screen would have been fine if it was a full size screen protector. I've never actually seen a protector that is JUST for the 4-inch screen and not the whole glass front.
Sadly there is not much you can do aside from replacing the glass, the oleophobic coating at the top and bottom has worn out (i believe this requires the lcd/amoled back too). However, you can use a full size screen protector and you shouldn't notice it.

I'm guessing the only way to naturally remove the coating, would be to use it without a pouch, and keep it in you pants' (jeans) pocket.
Not that I'm recommending this, but you could try solvents, nail polish thinner (acetone), lighter fluid, alcohol etc. and see which one works. Since the screen is glass, it should be ok, unless you use acid or really strong solvents.

If this discoloration is driving you ape s#!t, consider purchasing a new digitizer... Once again this is just a thought, as I do not own a Nexus. I was just surfing and thought I'd add my 2 cents...

LOL, I've never seen anything like this. who protects only those 4 inches of the screen? when i read the title of this thread i got a little worried since i use a screen protector on my nexus s but mine covers the whole thing so i think I'm in the clear.
Honestly i think your best option here is to just use a screen protector on the whole screen. Or just leaving it alone and hopefully let time do its thing. I guess you have to choose which one bothers you less, the annoying rectangle or a screen protector.

Probably why they say a thin layer, and to squeegee it away from any opening. I have a Skinomi shield on. Did you also let it sit for four hours before turning it on? Following the instructions is important. I hope you had insurance on it. It's such a great phone to lose because of a little water.

Well you are one of the lucky ones, i had a few phones in recent years that had gorilla glass...but still got little scratches on the screen that were super annoying. One from keys in pocket the other one fell of a table and knicked a pebble.
I will never go without one on my phone
I won't either, but rather have tempered glass. Maybe some day it will be out. I dropped my phone once with a tempered glass shield. The shield broke, but the screen was undamaged, and the seller sent me a new one free.

I feel for you. I was almost in that boat.
The edge part of the note is where all the water goes. It gets in by the spen and hits the main board.
I let mines dry for a little bit then turn it on and the screen was fine (minus the dots or lint) but then when it boot the screen went brown and crap. I pulled the battery and took the phone apart and blow dry it for 30mins. Put it back together and my heart attack stop.

But yes be very careful with the phone and water. I recommend removing the s pen and wraping a towel around the phone once done. Let dry for a hr then blow dry it for 20mins.
I never done a wet protector either but I think I got it now. Isthe inky problem is they seem to get more lint from the mist of the spray. But also I'm not in a dang white clean room.

Best place to put it on is in the bathroom after a shower. It becomes the most lint free room in the house. [emoji6]

Just take it apart.
I posted a pic. Just unscrew the bolts and slowly lift up the board. And blow dry it on low.
There are push connectors for the power button so it's possible that has started to short out.
I wish you the best with recovering your phone.
I wash my protector off and put it back on. So all is good for me now.

Well, it really depends. All my phones so far since gorilla glass was invented were without screen protectors and I've not had a single scratch. I realised that was also partly because I've always kept my phone inside my pocket alone, with nothing else inside together with the phone. My wife chucks her phone into her bag together with everything else, wallet (with metallic zippers), coins, keys etc, and she got a deep scratch within days. So if you are those who chucks your phone into your bag, it's still safer to get a screen protector.

I always keep up with my phones, in a pocket along, take good care of them, but to me it's the case of what if.
If the seen gets scratch that's it. If a protector gets scratch I can change it and not live with a messed up screen.
BAD NEWS:
so the phone came on again, for about an hour and everything was working perfectly. I thought i was good, so I charged the phone. After I did that, vertical green lines appeared through the screen, and eventualy, the phone randomly went into bootloop. It got so bad I was not even able to reset the thing to factory settings.
GOOD NEWS:
For some reason, the water damage indicators did not activate so I was able to exchange my phone at AT&T as I was still within 14 day return period. I explained to the manager what happened and he said it was fine. Just finished setting up my new phone and bought a ZAGG invisible shield DRY from AT&T. It is super hard to install, and I got it in there with much mediocrity. Im going to wait for something better to come out, as I am now traumatized and will not even take my phone into the restroom because now I feel a tiny little splash of water will make the phone explode.

I have been using wet application screen protector on my smart phones for the longest time. Brands from skinomi and bodyguardz. I have use this type (wet application ) of screen protector for so long , that i believe i have mastered the art of installing it Lol. wet application screen protector is the way to go vs. Dry application.

I can tell you that they feel much better.
This was my frist wet one. Had some problems at frist but in the end all was good.
I'm a pro at installing dry ones tho. But I may go with more wet ones in the future I'll see how this one holds up.
Been using Skinomi protectors on several devices without any ill effect. I love the feel and look of the protector!

No scratches on my S5 with not even a case for almost 2 years
its not bout scratches its bout how well you take care of your phone because it comes with gorilla glass 4 so it shgould last if you take care of it.
Gorilla Glass 4 my ass. I baby my phones and have never scratched a screen until this one. Super disappointed with GG4 or Samsung's implementation...
I also take care of my phones VERY much, and can see some scratches visible on sunlight after 3 months. I never put my phone with something that can scratch it. But then again, I saw those little scratches on every phone I had. Good thing about older phones is that it wasn't so freaking hard to find a screen protector

When U live in Serbia, ordering things is a pain in the.. Neck
I have a friend that works in a larger phone accessory shop here, and he said that none of the protectors they have are full screen or that they always have bubbles.
Have U tried any? Maybe a suggestion so I know which protectors are good for ordering online.
I have a galaxy alpha with gorilla glass 4, and also have the small scratches.
These small scratches come from sand,dirt,dust that is harder than the screen and rubs against your phone in your pocket, these small scratches are unavoidable without screenprotector.
But these are small so they don't bother me, what worries me more is the back glass which is not GG4 and scratches more easy.

One day around month 3 I was removing the phone from my otter box case and with the littlest bit of flexing the back glass cracked horribly. I found this to be very annoying since this is supposed to be a "prime" quality phone with gorilla glass 4. I think it was more like gurly glass 4 as I bearly flexed the phone at all and am a very caring / gentle phone user and have owned many and never cracked a case/screen ever. My question is has anyone had broken glass, front or back replaced under samsungs warranty or am I crap outta luck? I called Samsung once and they said it's not covered. Since it was not outside of proper use I feel I was fed a line. Any help or suggestions? Very dissapointed in gorilla glass 4,and Samsung for placing it all over all sides of the gs7 in a very thin manner.
Makes me rethink if I'll ever purchase another Samsung again.

Hard or rigid protectors can't cover the whole screen because the edge has a bevel. I got an anti-glare matte screen protector and it works great

Well those back panels can be bought for like 13 bucks and can be easy to replace but you will lose the waterproof tho.

But I don't really want a rigid protector, I mean, i have been using plastic film protectors on all my phones, because I'm very gentle with them and just want to keep them from small pocket scratches. I just need a full screen one that will go over those 2.5d edges of the glass. I also don't like those matte protectors, they totally mess up the screen quality
I had 3 years SG S4 and only one little scratch. After 3 days having S7 I have already weird "graze" (is it correct word in English?) . Is not visible when screen is clean but dirt always stay in the same place. I'm VERY disappointed. Also afraid about home button made of plastic !
My first S7 edge had a super Deep scratch right on the screen curve, stay that for awhile before it turn in a crack going across the screen.

I bought a Fosmon screen protector for both mine and my wife's S7s and they fit really well. If you apply them correctly then you won't have any bubbles. I never use the guides or anything to put it on, I just go slowly and use a credit card to smooth out bumps. Cleaning your phone screen first with alcohol and a lint free wipe cuts down on anything left on the screen to cause bubbles.

Since you went hostile... You might wanna to stop being a **** and start your own thread, for your own issue, instead of hijacking this thread. You broke your phone and that isn't a warranty issue, which Samsung already explained to you. He offered you info the help you quickly & easily fix your phone for very little $.
As for screen scratches on my S7, I don't have any so far. No screen protector either. I guess it's probably nerdy, but I carry my phone in a Nite-Ize holster, on my belt, and never in my pocket. So far, I've never scratched a screen on any of my phones since the OG Droid. I had a screen protector on my OG Droid, for a few months, but that's been the only one I've used.

What's your problem? Maybe you should just STFU then if you get mad bout people helping your dumb ass. You break your own phone and come in hete crying bout warranty while this treath is about scratches on the screen. So next time calm down or dont reply
Personally if your just using it day to day you wont see any scratches on your phone especially since the Galaxy S7 has gorilla glass 4. I would recommend a screen protector or even a glass screen protector if you are the type of person who chucks around their phone and doesn't really care about it.
You should be fine using it without a screen protector

Samsung says you shouldn't remove the OEM screen protector... but is it okay to do so?
If you ask me... I would recommend not to remove the OEM screen protector at the same time don't use any 3rd party screen protector too...

I use the Skinomi screen protector on mine, been using them since my Pixel 2 XL. The Samsung one is a flimsy piece of hard plastic that loves finger prints. So glad I took the "risk"
You can find a number of videos where people apply their own. Definitely recommend, but it is scary while you're doing it
My tip after applying it: Keep the phone unfolded overnight!

It feels so much better. I've had it on for about 3 months now. Keep in mind I never liked glass screen protectors. The 'rubbery' ones that require water feels better, and makes sense for a phone where you're not likely to drop it on the screen
No problems, just remember not to fold the phone for at least the day afterwards (I have a very small bubble there due to my impatience). Plus, the rubbery ones self heal so it always looks great. The fact that it never shows fingerprints too. No more constantly wiping the phone after every use

When installing the Skinomi, what's the best way to deal with the hinge dip when "squeegeeing" the protector to the screen?
Just ordered the Skinomi.
I almost got T-Mobile to exchange the whole phone. They finally asked me when I bought it and determined it was still under Samsung warranty and directed me to Samsung.
Once again, Samsung sent me on a wild goose chase to Best Buy and the Samsung Experience section which, no longer exists at the 2 Best Buy's I tried.
Dismal support from Samsung!

I think I first tried squeezing from middle outwards, but the phone did fine doing it normally (from top to bottom or vice versa). I was only worried about water getting into the hinges, but apparently these phones do well with water according to YouTube durability tests
I hear a lot of people with the same experience for the lack of Samsung support. It's a shame
