[Q] GB to ICS (CWM) - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

I'm rooting for a friend and trying to figure out how to get a newer version of CWM but not finding the phone in Rom Manager...is there an equivalent to the SGH-T959V? If not, how do we go about flashing an ICS ROM with an old recovery?

Rom manager does not work with the sgs4g. If you need the newer cwm flash a kernel that has it.

[Q] I really need help...

Im a bit confused...
I have worked with so many HTC phones, rooting those and installing CM7.
Now I have to do the same with a Samsung Galaxy S 4G of my cousin.
So right now I rooted the phone using SuperOneClickRoot v2.1.1.
Now I don't find a way to install a good ROM. I see CM7 don't support this phone. I have installed ClockWorkMod and it looks really rare in this phone, It don't have the options to backup, restore y install a zip.
So I come here asking you guys if there is a form of getting Gingerbread to this phone and How I can do it?
Thanks!
How did you install cwm

I think I installed it using Rom Manager, but It dont installed.
I just want to know how I can install a gingerbread on this Galaxy S 4G
Rom manager does not work with sgs4g. Go to dev section and find the thread cwm final by krylon360. That is how to get cwm recovery working.

"no infuse option"? Where are you looking for? Are you using ROM Manager?
Because officially rom manager does not support the Infuse...
There is a thread in the dev section on how to install cwm.... You need to flash the I9000 version, but you must modify recovery first. Or you could just flash the community kernel with voodoo and cwm.

[Q] Does installing clockworld mod from rom manager need root?

Hi.
Do i need to be rooted to install clockworld mod from rom manager?
Thanks.
You need to nvflash clockwork mod. Look in dev forums. Do not use from manager.

Do I need to be rooted for nvflash?
And also why cant I use rom manager for clockworld mod?

Nvflash is safer. Rom manager will not help if you brick your phone. It is a fake flash. Takes 5 minutes to do it the right way. No you do not need root.
Ok so far I already installed cm7.1, but I couldn't install the kernel because the one I wanted is currently unavailible. Can I install the kernel afterwards when it is availible even though I already flashed a new rom?
Thanks.

You can install a kernel later.

[Q] CWM

Hi!
This weekend, I reverted back to stock Rogers rom. I have the stock kernel that came with it as well. Although stock, I am still rooted but without CWM and Voodoo (stock kernel).
I was just wondering if I use SGS Kernel flasher from the market, will I be able to flash a new kernel (Infused) so I can have CWM and Voodoo? Or will I brick my phone?
Phone is running 2.3.3 UXKG3 stock from Rogers.
Thanks!

Also, would I need to replace 3e with the modded one or will it be part of the Kernel flashing?

In order for sgs kernel flasher to work, you first need to root the phone.
instead of rooting, you can flash the GB infusion kernel..gtg, bedwa or entropy-all based on Rogers, to get cwm. You need to do this on download mode via Odin or heimdall.
You can use the heimdall in my second post on the uclb3 thread
I am rooted already. I just need CWM.
PS I tried using SGS Kernel flasher to flash the kernel listed on the "How to root Rogers Infuse" by GTG, but it said "Invalid zimage file" so I wasn't able to flash it.

Also, will Entropy's Daily Driver kernel also provide me with a CWM if I flash it via SGS Kernel flasher?

Yes, it will provide you with red CWM recovery.

I would upgrade via kies to gb, then use the heimdall one click for antonx's kernel.
Im not sure if the sgs kernel flasher will work with froyo but if it does you need to make sure you are using a froyo kernel and not a gingerbread.

You can't use kies to upgrade to GB on rooted Froyo. Use the guide in the second link of my signature to upgrade to GB. Then look at the guide in the first link of my signature to root and use SGS Kernel Flasher.
