Hello,
I was trying to install xrecovery into my x10. I copied the files as per the below post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=950324
but when I was trying to copy the files into the bin folder of my system, I could not find any bin folder in it. What can I do for this and is this the reason for my phone switching off regularly when i am trying to use net, camera, or even a call?
Please help.

I can't copy or move files stored in device ROM.
I've tried with Resco Explorer and Total Commander, but without success.
I didn't understand if there's a registry hack that allows these operations.
I've notice (or so it seemed to me) that I was able to substitute/copy/move some files having the ROM attribute, but many others not (eg: I've tried to copy the nleddrvr_sec.dll, obviously without success, otherwise I'd post this here!).
Surfing in many forums, I read many others asking for the same thing, unfortunately I haven't seen answers to their question about this.
Hope someone explains to me how to do or why is impossible to do.

You can not copy / move / delete files in ROM. Thats the point of "Read Only Memory"
These files are not stored as individual files but are in fact packed in a special way as part of the device image which can only be written (flashed) by special tools.
If you want to extract OS files you need to use a ROM dump tool.
I suggest you look in the WiKi.
What you can do is overwrite one or more "ROM files". What will happen in reality is that a copy of the file with the same name will be placed in storage memory and the system will go there. If you hard reset your device or rename the file it will go back to the original file.

As you said here and here (Changing Files in Windows Dir )
it's impossible to move/copy ROM files, just overwrite 'em.
Doing so the system looking for these overwritten copies.
So now the question are:
- there's a registry entry that points to this substitute ROM files?
- to modify an existent file resident in ROM I MUST dump my ROM or another one same or similar?
Mersì bo q, anyway.

oh..thanks .....and there is nothing free ?
EDITk i bought resco explorer...but i can't use the recycle bin: I deleted a file ...but the recycle bin it's empty...what's wrong ?
Using resco explorer go to menu-->options-->general. Go to the files tab and make sure all prompts are checked. Also go to menu-->options-->add-ins-->recycle bin and make sure 'Do not move files to recycle bin' is unchecked. When deleting files you should get a pop up that asks you if you'd like to send your deleted files to the recycle bin or just delete them entirely.

Thank you so much man
If you want to see deleted files in Resco Explorer then it should had been installed before deleting the files
Currently there is no way to recover those deleted files (unless if deleted from the system or ROM) which in case can be recovered simply by soft reset
Moving this thread to Q&A section where you will surely get better directions

I'm curious....I thought you couldn't delete anything off of the rom. Isn't it restricted in that domain? I know of a lotta things I'd like to be able to change, modify or delete from my windows directory. I already know of trying to access the files from activesync....doesn't work though. Is there another way?
Hi there.
is there a 'recycle bin' on the X1?
reason is I deleted a small video i was looking to upload.
so do we have a 'recycle bin' type thing, or has it gone forever?
thanks in advance
edit> if I do not have Resco Explorer installed, there is no way of recovering this video?
If you delete files from the device's storage you can't get them back unless they appear in the recycle bin.
if you delete them from the storage card, you can restore them/some of them using ActiveRecovery (for instance).
if you deleted something accidently, DO NOT copy ANYTHING else to your storage card.
take the card out, put it in your comp, and use ActiveRecovery to recover the sectors.
thanks very much mate
Hello,
I have accidently deleted all the files from the PanelManager folder on my X1.
Now when i press the X Panel button, i get an error message saying the file doesnt exist.

Hey,
I would like to help you.
Which folder you want me to upload? Where can I find it?
PanelManager folder
Hey,
Its the PanelManager folder. If you go into the file explorer, its under My device storage. Inside Program Files there is a folder called PanelManager. I need all the files that appear in this folder. If you could add them to a zip file and upload them, it would be much appreciated.
Many Thanks,
Neil

Hello i Need the same help
Help Please!
I've been trying desperately for a while now to change the name of my service provider in my banner and lockscreen and I think I'm almost done but, I have one problem!
To change my Service provider name I took a copied version of my eri.xml file off my phone and changed it from "MetroPCS" to "AndroJordan" using HexEditor. Ok, so far so good. but then after putting the new banner eri.xml file back onto my phone I wasnt able to use it to replace the old one.
How do I delete the original eri.xml file so that I can put the new one in? Or better yet, how do I access my phone's system files through my computer? Everytime I connect my phone to my PC, I can only access what is on the SD Card.
When I try to delete the original eri.xml file through Astro File Manager on my phone it just gives me an error message saying that it was unable to delete the file.
Someone please help me! I really just need to know how to access my phone's system files so that I may move/delete files
