Remove Blocking Mode Icon from status bar? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Is there any way to remove this from the Jelly Bean OTA?

Verizon Jelly Bean does not have Blocking Mode.

Yes it does. Download quick short cut maker and you can add it that way.

Then the Icon is in systemUI or framework-res apks or both. Have to remove them.

hoping someone has a quick way of doing so..

You can't just turn off and even if just remove icon there may be a blank space there without other xml or smali edits.I just run Root Call Blocker app and can turn off at will.

I know, I was hoping someone made a .zip to install in recovery to remove this or something. There is a thread for the international version where someone did just that. Just hoping to see someone on the Verizon end of things doing it as well...

[Q] Disable Ticker Animation (Notification Privacy)

I am talking about Paranoid Android's very useful tweak. The "Do Not Disturb" option in settings menu where it completely disables the ticker animation whenever there's a notification.
This is a great tweak for me because whenever a friend borrows my phone to browse the web or to send an sms, he/she sees the COMPLETE incoming text thru the ticker animation. This is really an annoying accidental invasion of my privacy.
"So why don't you just use paranoid android rom?"
Well, because that mod is the only reason i was able to stick to that rom for almost 2 weeks.
I am more than willing to create a custom rom that suits my exact preferences but i lack the time and skills to do it.
Okay so i've searched EVERYWHERE (trust me) but i can't find an individual mod that does exactly this.
Thanks for reading and I am very grateful if anyone answers. :good:

Does it only affect SMS/MMS? If so, the mod can probably be cleanly packaged into a modded mms.apk and the setting option/toggle moved from PA settings to mms settings. Can't say, never used it, but someone with time on their hand can probably track it in the PA git.

It affects all ticker animations that pop up on the status bar whenever there's a notification.
For example, when i turn the feature on and i use titanium backup to do a batch restore, the icon is still there but there will be no ticker animation.
It's quite redundant if you ask me.

Still not possible thru stock SMS. I use Textra SMS and it's got the option to hide the ticker animation

Still no luck? I am searching everywhere, like you, but I can't find a mod for this. It is found in Cataclysm rom, but I can't understand why this is not asked for more. Every rom should have a preference to disable all notification tickers.

I learned to accept the fact that noone will make a stand-alone mod (or even an app) for this specific feature.
I am in exactly the same boat.. I don't know how many hours I've spent looking around and found nothing.
I need to specifically for WhatsApp; no such luck.
Did you guys find anything?

No luck here. Almost 2 years looking around.
If I had a better idea how ROMs work.. I would've had a look at the one you mentioned in your OP and maybe create an XPOSED mod..

Yes. I have also seen those settings on mahdi last week
So nobody has helped you yet? Strange.
Decompile SystemUI with ApkTool (Import the framework, decompile)
Open res/values/bools
Modify the string <bool name="enable_ticker">true</bool> TO <bool name="enable_ticker">false</bool>
Recompile the app with apktool using the command: apktool b -c SystemUI.apk.
DONE

It says it does, but launcher stays locked in memory, so it doesn't effect anything, but you get the toast message.
The code changed in 4.1.2 so the kindacrap way doesn't work on the newer ROMs. I don't know of anyone working on this, as menu works the same (you just lose the half @ss 'search' function) and multi window should be coming...

I know coding has changed in the new update since kinda crap. What I was trying to say was just to see if he can decompile it and look at it to compare the differences. Who knows, what needs to be changed might just stick out to him and may be any easy fix. Just an idea...

Yes, I have tried diffing the code MANY times, can't get it bro. My smali skills are limited, I am going to try and get some outside help though.

no soft keys

Hi xda developers, some of you probably have the same question so for those of you who do listen up, I want to get rid of my softkeys on the Kindle Fire HD 7 and use LMT launcher instead. So to do this I edit my build.prop with qemu.he.mainkeys=1 telling the system not to show the softkeys. The problem with this is it gets rid of the app overflow bitten in the action bar. This wouldn't be a problem but the app overflow button didn't work on lmt launcher for some reason. So I have no way to access my app settings. How do I fix this? Anyone no?

Wrong forum, please post in the Q&A section. The stock Amazon software's navigation bar sticks no matter what, even if you eliminate the bar itself, it's like they partitioned the screen to have its own special navigation bar section.
This remains the only tweak on my device that I haven't found a solution for. There are several ways to remove the soft keys, but the gap where the bar once was remains. For some reason, it bugs the crap out of me having that gap, so I'm still using the soft key bar for now (even though I also have LMT installed). If someone finally comes up with a solution for this, please speak up. Is this something that can be remedied with CM? I currently am using Kinology.

Lollipop Quick toggles

Hello, im running stock lollipop and i somehow deleted bluetooth toggle and added invert colors toggle to my notification bar. I have absolutely no ideea how this happened. How do i customize my quick toggles?

Hey guys
Playing around with Lollipop I accidentally added Invert colors into my quick settings menu. All the information I found said I needed to root and clear SystemUI data in order to remove it, but then I found this
Enable USB Debugging
Connect to a PC with adb
In a terminal type: adb shell pm clear com.android.systemui
Reboot phone
It will clear your wallpaper, but it does reset QuickSettings!

neat. i didnt realize that it was a feature in lollipop, you can add stuff to the quick toggle! what i did was just use a function(hotspot) and it got added to the pulldown
can u tell us exactly how to add or remove if possible?

use a system function(like hotspot). while its on, itll be in the pulldown. if you dont use it for a little period of time, itll disappear.
So you cant add or remove toggles willingly, its based on how often you use it.
