Hey everyone I've run into a problem and have not clue how to fix it. I had purchased a Rogers s3 and unlocked it with an unlock code and currently use it on the Bell network. I had my phone rooted so when the service provider was rolling out the jelly bean updates I missed mine. So I flashed the new OS onto the phone myself (the one from Bell) and it seems I no longer get LTE speeds. I was wondering if anyone else has gotten these problems with the new OS. Also should I be installing Rogers updates or Bell updates? It's the same model.
Lastly a buddy recommended juice defender to help with the battery life. When I use it at times when I unlock my phone to use it I don't get any reception whatsoever or the data doesn't turn back on. I need to reboot time get service and data back.

Hey there, my brother recently inheritted someones old Rogers Galaxy S2 LTE. My brother is using MTS which uses the same bands/freqs (same towers in fact) as Rogers and was wanting to use this phone instead of his crappy Nokia.
He threw his SIM card in and got the screen asking for the network unlock key. He went to cellunlocker.net and purchased the unlock key and unlocked the phone.
However with his SIM card in he still doesnt appear to pick up any signal at all. I have an android (GNex) on the same network (MTS) and have never had an issue.
Do I have to flash a non-rogers ROM to get it working? I saw the SKY ICS one and was thinking I might flash that one to try it out. Unfortunately I wont have access to the phone until tomorrow
EDIT: I should have mentioned that his phone is completely stock right now. I have read about "Locked" radios and am wondering if that isnt the cause of our issues. I have heard from other I727 owners who were able to get their phones on MTS
Hi
So I recently stopped getting verizon service due to there bad reliability in my area (I could have 4 bars but not be able to load a webpage or make a call), and i am considering switching to metropcs, since there cheap and have decent reception where I live. I already have a Note 2 from Verizon and I know the SIM slot is unlocked, but I know without metropcs APN settings I cant get data on it. Can I change the APN settings without a root? I am running the stock version of 4.3 if that helps. I know rooting or custom roms can void your warrenty and I have over 6 months left and dont want to lose it.
If you have any idea if this can be done please let me know, thanks :fingers-crossed:
well im going thru alot of postings im certain my answer is no but just in case i may have missed somthing its been awhile since i had a s3
got my hands on this s3 4.2.1 did casual and just using it on h2o with a mini sim got e
but thats boring
will upgrading it to 4.3 enable anything
like on my verizon s4 upgrading to 4.3 enabled lte for my old tmobile sim but yeah i know thats diff bands altogether
but i went to h2o so as to be able to use my iphone too without unlocking it
so im just screwing around poping my simcar din and out of all these devices
im happy with hspda on the s4 and 4g on iphone
but using this s3 is almost archaic to me now with edge 2
im wondering if either changing recovery loading a rom and or kernel radio combo woul dyeild anything interesting or just waste my time
for refrence
h2o is att mvno
ill keep looking in the meantime
i also had a really odd issue with another s4 verizon where h2o failed to even register on 4.2 i never did figure out what was wrong i even went as far as upgrading it to 4.3 it acted like it was blocked out in the end the only way to get it to even register service was to root enter service menu and set the band myself global mode seemed to aquire signal then bump off network or get network but couldnt place a call i never did figure out what was wrong with that dumb handset
i wonder if forcing this handset onto a certain band would do anything or acquisition order or am i missing the band alltogether
ill keep poking around
this is also my first galaxy handset with screenburn how wonderfull looks like ghosted dialer screen ..

I've got a Verizon HTC M8 running DigitalHigh GPE 5.0.1 12/21 build, stock kernel.
I've had 4g issues with the phone since the first time I ever flashed away from stock. And the whole RUU back to stock and factory reset thing has never worked for me. The phone simply refuses to stay connected to 4G...
The first time I had the issue and I couldn't resolve it I called Verizon. Was sent through to tech support, who "opened a ticket" and told me I would hear from them once it was resolved. Never heard from them, but the issue did go away on it's own and the phone connected to LTE once more on its own. I was running BoneStock ROM at the time (this was back in August 2014).
Fast forward to November and I decide to switch to GPE and I start seeing 4G issues again. My phone would connect to LTE at first boot but once my Sim "activated" it would only connect to 3G from there out. I tried everything to get it back. I did RUU back to stock and factory reset, I flashed new radios, etc...
Finally I activated a new SIM that I had laying around and BAM! LTE service again.
... For a few days. And then back to 3G only.
I used an app called 4G switcher to force my phone to connect to a 4G signal and when I did that it showed that I was roaming... So I would dial *226 and update my roaming list and it would no longer say I'm roaming and would say I'm connected to LTE... For about 10 minutes and then back to 3G only.
I went to the Verizon. Wireless store today and they gave me a new sim and told me to call prepay customer service to see if I can get a warranty replacement. The new SIM instantly connected to LTE and has been connected for almost 6 hours now.
Is there something wrong with my phone that it keeps frying the SIM or could there be an issue with my account on Verizon's end, maybe something telling it to reprogram my SIM to not connect to 4g?
I have used my phone overseas for a month with a European SIM and a service that was only 3G, not sure if that would be relevant at all.
I'm fairly sure your problems aren't on Verizon's side. From reading over the thread, the GPE ROM certainly appears to cause some folks issues regarding LTE service. GPE wasn't designed to run on Verizon. It might be a good idea to stick with something built from a Verizon ROM.
Its a Lollipop thing. Happens on gpe, and Aosp 5.0 ROMs. Just wait till official gets out and they should figure out a fix.
Hi! We purchased a sealed (unlocked, we think) Galaxy S7 (G930A) online, and are using it in Canada with the Bell Mobility network (using a Bell SIM card). The connection works, but, we noticed two things:
1) The signal sometimes cuts out, as it drops off the network, and we need to power off and power on the device, and
2) The current version of Android software is 6.0, and when we try to do the Software Update, it says there are no updates available.
I have heard that because we are not connected to the AT&T network here in Toronto, it won't send the OTA update. Does anyone know a way around this? I am not against using Odin software and trying to manually install the new software, but, that would be our least preferred option.
I have tried purchasing an AT&T prepaid sim card (did not load any value on it), and it still says no update available. We jhave tried using the Smart Switch software, but it says no updates available.
If anyone else has gone through this situation before, we would love to hear your story. Any help on how to get the software update would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.
