okay my aunt has an
AT&T LG Phoenix P-505 phone with Android 2.2 on it (Here is the phone)
i was thinking of putting JellyBean on it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1811325
BUT i dont know what i need or what to do for this phone............... PLEASE help with step-by-step of how to........ i would like everything to be on the Micro SD-card (like the Nook color can be), if it can't be than thats fine!. like i said i am in need of a step-by-step how to
Please & Thanks
A step by step guide will be unlikely. Making a rom comes from experience and knowledge. It will take alot of work to get that done on your aunts phone. Honestly i don't think its worth it, there is so much involved in trying to develop a rom for a phone. I would just experiment with the phone, do some theming and become use to how the phone works and functions, remember...its all experience

well can someone help me make a back-up of the phone, then help me understand how to change it to the CM10? from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1811325

No
i don't know how to or where to get the stuff to do it, i found a little guide(HERE) and where you download the CM10 rom from is here same for its "source" of the info on there..... but it nor here tells me or helps point me to where i can get ClockworkMod Recovery installed to be able to root it(dont know if thats needed or not)...... so thats why im looking for help
my aunts phone has a mind of its own.... removes photos, music, contact and so-on when ever it wants turned on & turned off, but if i was to root it with cm10 i know it would fix it all(the phone has been used by many ppl in her family that have messed it up)
Well
Root your phone by this method

thanks for the info
what are the downfalls/cons of rooting this?(im the type of person who likes to know what the outcome can become)
Advantages
1)You can install a custom ROM
2) You can upgrade or downgrade your phone
3)You can link apps to SD or make a part of your SD card internal memory
4)Performance will be better than stock ROM
Disadvantages
1)You can Soft brick your phone
But you can also unbrick by some methods (This will happen if you don't follow instructions carefully )
2) You can hard brick your phone
(You will have to buy another phone or replace your motherboard)
3)You void your warranty by rooting.

Yeah, it's because the NS ran REAL AOSP. Which has the colored bars that you're talking about which does mean that you're sync'd.
But, the G2x runs LG's stupid wannabe AOSP. The bars aren't colored because it's their own custom skin. It's sync'd though, you just can't tell because LG made it that way.
I just got the G2x few days ago, couldn't stand their custom ROM. So I rooted it and flashed CM7 the second I had the chance.
I would suggest you do the same as well.

1. Install Clockworkmod via One Click NVFlash tool. Do not use ROM Manager.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
Now you have two choices.
Boot into Clockworkmod Recovery (power + volume down) ...
1. Install my root zip if you want to stay on stock rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255214
2. Choose an already rooted rom from dev section and flash it. Make sure you wipe everything before flashing an alternate rom or a bootloop may likely result.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1117
I've hard bricked a couple of phones (not a G2X) in the past and based on what I know this phone is very hard to brick. The only way to do I think is to issue errant commands in NVFlasher, but that is why we have the One Click Recovery flasher to isolate us from that possibility.
^^ damn that guys boss! Do his instructions to a T and you'll be all set.

sup ppl i come from the evo 3d forums and just bought this phone today. but the volume rocker is bad, so i have to request.
1) how do i fix the volume rocker.
2) and how can i get it to boot so i find out what hboot the phone has so i can root this bad boy.
thanks in advance
1) what's wrong with the volume rocker? did you buy it second hand? If not why not return it and get it replaced if its broken?
2) to boot into boatloader is volume down plus power button, but hboot versions don't matter on our phone. Its all rootable currently
The down button doesn't work I need to replace it. I've been watching YouTube videos on how to do this. But still need help on what I need to do. I just bought the phone today second hand for 75 bucks

Ace hack kit comes with a manual. Open up the folder and click on the "effen manual" and read it entirely. It tells you everything you need to do to make everything work. Make sure your USB drivers are current. Most people have USB issues that can be fixed by merely updating the drivers. It tells you in the manual how to do that as well.

Follow all the prerequisites and read everything down to the last section called FAQs. There is important information throughout the whole thing which attn1 has made this way so that you see the answer to all the questions people ask over and over. I would be going against the wishes of the dev if I told you any more than this. It really is easy though once you soak in all the info. Good luck. You can do it.
Yup reread everything tried downgrading that went bad also. I'll just I've rooted many phones b4 this is the only one giving me trouble ill just sell it.

I know you succeeded in rooting your phone, but there is a free app from the market called Quick Boot, which requires root, but allows you to reboot into recovery, bootloader, simply reboot, and power off. It may help you down the road.

No it was that dam code I was using the one on the zip lol I feel mad and dumb at the same time haha. So all I need is a T-Mobile sim card right. Will I have to unroot the phone to set up a T-Mobile account or an at&t account?
Thanks man but does it require the up nd down volume buttons. I'm planning on fixing it maybe next week.

I'm not completely sure if an Att phone will just work on a tmobile network. It would be ideal to activate it on Att or if you already have Att just pop in your sim card. If you are already on tmo, you could pop in your sim in and see if it works. I'm not sure if they need to be unlocked even with custom roms. Does anyone else know the answer to this?
Update: the volume button thing could be an issue if you ever soft brick your phone so you might want to get that fixed asap. It's the only way to fix a softbrick is through hboot.
Hello
I own a LG P500 2.3.3..
So, i decided to root my phone (i hardly have the basic knowledge of it)
anyway i followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1200167 and rooted my device. Everything was perfect..
Now i'm stuck on what to do next?
I downloaded Titanium backup removed few Dumb Default Apps and Backup'd the rest
What to do next?
What about ROM and stuff?
Custom ROMS
Install Adfree from the market
Get wifi hotspot working if it is disabled
Remove bloatware

I agree with whodisname. When you root for the first time it's all about learning what is available. Just keep checking your phone's forum and reading everything you can about the ROMs and the kernels.
Next comes the frustrating part: installing and having things go wrong. They will, so make sure you are ready to reinstall all of your apps manually a few times. You should have a backup made from before you do any changes to your kernel or ROM. Keep that no matter what. And btw do not install anything ROM or Kernel that is not SPECIFICALLY for your phone model. You do that and it's game over Chuck.

All excellent suggestions. I ROM switch at least once a week, just to ty different ROMS. I am using my Thunderstick right now because I am in the process of unbricking my Rezound. It's learning and pushing your phone to the maximum. It is the same reason my PC is liquid cooled, take it past the basic specs and try something different.
Hey guys I am new to the charge. I really want to root but I have some concerns first. For one I have already replaced this phone twice since I got it. If I un-root it will Verizon notice I rooted it at all? Also how safe is it? I really don't want a $300 paper weight. I rooted my old sch-m828c from straightalk and the phone wouldn't connect to the computer anymore; is that a concern with the charge? As from the last sentence I have experience with odin but my old phone lost the root somehow and i was unable to boot it back to stock. Is the charge better about stuff like that? Please respond with any help. (Best mods, safest methods etc.) Thanks in advance!

3) Run SuperOneClick: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
