Hello. I need some help with group texting on the G2x. You see all my friends friends have iPhones when the receive a group text then they can respond to the whole group.
Let's say person A texts person B, on person B's iphone he sees a text message from person A in his conversation list. Now lets say after that person A texts person B again along with person C,D,E, and F as well. Now on person B's iphone is a new thread listing person A,C,D,E separate from the original thread between A and B. Also, if person B replies to person A in the group thread then everyone else in that thread also receives the reply. It is sort of like a group conference call but for text messages.
Now when I receive a group text message from someone, I only see the original sender of the message not the other recipients nor can I reply to everyone in the group. My messages only go to the Original sender.
Is there a way to allow my phone to do this?

Have you tried 3rd party SMS apps like GO SMS Pro?
MIUI has something like this. When you text a group of people at once, it keeps everything in 1 thread. I don't know if your phone will send out multiple texts to everyone.
See on the iPhone it isn't really text messages... (I don't think). Once you send a group text, it converts it to a data IM. It still shows up in the Messaging program, but it isn't SMS.
To do something like this strickly with SMS, you'd be sending out 5-6 messages at a time every time you sent a comment. If EVERYONE's phone sent a reply SMS to EVERYONE, it would work. But I think the iPhones convert it over to data.

That's exactly what it is. It's iMessage. It only works between iPhones. Guaranteed if the other person does a group text to C,D,E,F, B will see all the group members because A sent B the message using an iPhone and B had an iPhone, but let's say that C doesn't have an iPhone, they won't know it was a group text.
Annoying, but meh.
Got a Desire Z with Cyanogenmod 7.
The SMS app displays only with whom I was in contact but it does not indicate if I received the SMS from that person or if I sent it.
I tried a couple apps from market but they were all alike, including GO, Pansi, one other I already forgot. (Plus they had tons of features I don't need, ad supported. I need something *simple*.)
Suggestions appreciated.
I don't really get what you are asking for. Sms to and from one person are grouped in conversation. You can see which sms you sent by looking at the alignment of the person's picture (or placeholder for that). If you wrote it, its right-aligned.
I believe the OP is asking like the other NON-Smart phone SMS display like you see messages in folders with Inbox and Sent items.
Well in android, I have no need for that coz grouping is the next generation and much logically displays your logical conversation.
Still you can do all your SMS tasks with this.
Did you try Handcent sms app?

Receiving a group sms makes a different individual message thread become locked in an "unread" state even if no individual text message has been received. Reading the Individual thread doesn't allow it to become "read". The only work around I have found is to long press the thread and mark unread then tap the thread to make the thread into a "read" the thread.
This is not a critical bug but its an annoying bug. Maybe I'll have to root and slim my phone.
hello xda webmasters
i have tried to send a private message but i have no reply i thinks there is a problem sending private messages
on the forum
and i cannot read my messages sent
any idea ?
Hi,
I'm sure the person just hasn't replied. Also, if you are on a browser or computer, you actually have to check a box to save your message to your inbox. ?
