ClockworkMod Recovery -- Latest grouper Official & Nightlies
This thread is for the Nexus 7 2012, Wi-Fi (grouper) model, ME370T.
"Nightlies" and changelogs are posted in this thread each time a version bump is made in the source with no official update on ROM Manager. Zips for the latest official are also posted until another "nightly" gets made. Links to the latest "nightly" zips will be in this post, as well as links to the latest official fastboot images via ROM Manager.

Credits: I take no credit for any of the fantastic work done on the recovery; I'm just making it easier for the community to follow along by sharing builds from builder.clockworkmod.com (or mirrors.reflected.net for 6.0.4.9+) and packaging them as zips with a changelog summarized from the Github contributions. CWM is open source and features ongoing work by koush, cyanogen, PhilZ and many others.

Official + "Nightly" Build Changelogs
Recent Major Features/Changes:
- End-Of-Life for ClockworkMod Recovery, features reduced to become Cyanogen Recovery. (6.0.5.2+)
- Allow selective restore of multiple partitions. (6.0.5.0+)
- Multi-core support "performance mode" during backup/restore. (6.0.4.7+)
- Remove all extra "No" options, create .many_confirm to restore. (6.0.4.5+)
- Reintroduce "Rainbow Mode" Easter Egg. (6.0.4.0+)
- Add gzip format (tgz) to Default Backup Format Menu, reducing backup size significantly. (6.0.3.8+)
- Save last 6 recovery logs in /cache/recovery/. (6.0.3.6+)
- Remove Fix Permissions option. (6.0.3.5+)
- Add Reboot to Bootloader and Power Off options to Advanced Menu. (6.0.3.5+)
- Add rooting of unrooted devices with koush's Superuser. (6.0.3.2+)
- Remove Wipe Battery Stats option. (6.0.2.2+)
- Enable "adb sideload <zip>" command. (6.0.1.5+)
- Add creating an update zip of /data apps to share with others. (6.0.1.1+)
- Add dedupe format (dup) to Default Backup Format Menu, reducing space required for multiple backups on one device. (6.0.0.0+)
Current Issues / Notes:
- Key test does not have a confirmation, so if triggered by mistake a hard reset is required if no USB connection is available to make it exit.
- SELinux in JB4.3+ changes the permissions of su on every boot, so after any boot back to Android you will get a su warning in CWM; it can be ignored.
- factory (/staging) and many other important device partitions may now be accessible in the "mounts and storage" menu, so be careful not to format them.
Changelog History:
- Oct 6, 2013 - Nov 4, 2014 - 6.0.4.3 official to 6.0.5.1+ End-Of-Life "nightly"

Does CWM not like if you rename the nandroids too long? I tried naming one 1-3-13 Paranoid Android 9.5 and gave me a md5 mismatch but now is working since I renamed it 1-3-13?!?!?! thanks

Bump, so this is deemed safe now? Kinda miss cwm.

What do you mean by safe? If you mean can you run CWM 6.0.2.3 on a Nexus 7 then yes.

[RECOVERY] Custom Recoveries for Galaxy R

Hello everybody!
Yesterday, I collected my previous recoveries, updated them and built a new one (TWRP) too. I made CWM-flashable and Odin-flashable packages too.
CWM v4.0.0.2: (Thanks to The-Droidster for the recovery! )
- This is the first ever custom recovery for the Galaxy R.
- It has all the nice CWM features.
- You can restore ICS with this.
- It has no known bugs. Everybody used it as a starting point.
- What I changed:
- Removed the /lib/modules directory. --> 0,1MB size decrease.
- Enabled button backlight.
- Key layout: Scrolling: Volume up+down, Selecting: Home key, Going Back: Power+Back button. (Menu key doesn't do anything.)
CWM: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?71ynk9btw7euocr
ODIN: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?iczq8xed26ohakw
CWM v5.5.0.4:
- Built from the latest CM9 sources.
- It has all the nice CWM features.
- It can restore v4 backups (you can restore ICS with this too).
- Very stable!
- It has no known bugs yet (Lot of users have been using it and no bugs have been reported).
- Toggle feature is disabled! (I find it really annoying and it doesn't make real sense for a recovery to lock the screen.)
- Key layout: Scrolling: Volume up+down, Selecting: Home key, Going Back: Power+Back button. (Menu key doesn't do anything.)
CWM: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?98c1smq7nk4485d
ODIN: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?c7qbjaqwgpnbr9w
CWM v6.0.3.2:
- Built from the latest CM10.1 sources.
- It has all the nice CWM features.
- It can restore v4 backups (you can restore ICS with this too).
- Key layout: Scrolling: Volume up+down, Selecting: Home key, Going Back: Power+Back button. (Menu key doesn't do anything.)
- Known issues: ADB Sideload
CWM: http://www.mediafire.com/download/7xyevjf32fixf3a/CWMv6.0.3.2_CWM.zip
ODIN: http://www.mediafire.com/download/oksv1o2hu63gohi/CWMv6.0.3.2_ODIN.tar
CWM v6.0.1.5 Touch:
- Built using the online builder at http://builder.clockworkmod.com
- It has all the nice CWM features.
- It can restore v4 backups (you can restore ICS with this too).
- Key layout: Scrolling up: Volume up or home button, Scrolling down: Volume down or menu button, Selecting: Power button, Going back: Back button. (This is the default layout and cannot be changed.)
- The touch responsiveness is a little lazy. You have to wait some seconds before it starts working. (The online builder says it needs an ICS kernel for the touch version. We use the CM10 kernel (based on stock ICS one), but it's still lazy.)
CWM: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?jz24eugrrr988f2
ODIN: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?6vju9tlf9byeufe
TWRP v2.5.0.0: (Thanks to 'cooleagle' for the tip! )
- Built from the latest TWRP and CM10.1 sources.
- It has a lot of nice features, more than CWM does.
(For example:
- on-screen keyboard -> custom backup names
- built-in file manager
- built-in terminal)
- It has a fully touch-driven and very intuitive interface.
- The touch responsiveness is a little lazy. You have to wait some seconds before it starts working. (The online builder says it needs an ICS kernel for the touch version. We use the CM10.1 kernel (based on stock ICS one), but it's still lazy.)
Note: Backups of TWRP are said not to be compatible with those of CWM. For everything to work well, I recommend that you create a TWRP backup too before modding.

PhilZ v5.06.6: (Thanks to Tha TechnoCrat for the tip! )
- Built from the latest PhilZ and CM10.1 sources.
- It has a lot of nice features, more than CWM does. Check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860
- Based on CWMv6.0.3.2
- Known issues: ADB Sideload

If you want to install a custom recovery for the first time, you always have to start with an Odin-flashable package first. Flashing a recovery with Odin doesn't increase the download counter!
Tutorial (Flashing with Odin):
Please refer to the following thread (This is very detailed and good in my opinion): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406664
Choose a downloaded TAR file (ODIN-flashable) for PDA option.
Tutorial (Flashing with CWM):
Note: This only works if you have already flashed CWM with Odin.
1: Reboot into recovery mode. Do this with a custom rom or by powering on your phone and pushing Volume UP+Home button simultaneously while the Samsung boot logo appears (you have to be fast).
2: Select 'Install zip from sdcard' menu.
3: Select 'Choose zip from sdcard' menu (or if you want to flash something from your internal sdcard, select 'Choose zip from internal sdcard' menu.) Note: On CWM v4.0.0.2, there isn't any separate menu for internal sdcard. It shows internal sdcard by default. External sdcard is mounted under the external_sd folder on the internal sdcard.
4: Navigate to the file you want and choose it.
5: Choose 'yes'.
6: Wait for it to finish and you're done.

Update the OP!
@Adam...Now that this thread has been stickied it is best that you also add the attached CWM recovery v4.0.0.2 to the OP. This will make it a one stop thread for all recoveries for Galaxy R. Also please include a short tut about flashing these recoveries through recovery and ODIN separately!(With screenies if possible!)
One more thing, the attached v4 CWM recovery is ODIN flashable. See if u can make a CWM flashable version out of it as you did for other recoveries!
Thnx:good:

Thanks for the idea! I'll do it on tuesday (I'll arrive home then.) as well as I'll reupload everything to somewhere else as Dropbox has limits with file downloads. I may also add a flashable stock recovery if somebody wants to revert only the recovery.

Along with the stock recoveries of ICS & GB CWM flashable zips kindly try to add a Unroot CWM zip (ICS / GB separate if needed) so that everyone can just flash that zip & get unrooted if in any circumstances they can't flash the stock ROM via a USB if the port is damaged. This will serve as a way for people who have damaged their USB port to get unrooted, flash stock recovery & claim warranty for the damaged USB port.
pankaj88 has already made one but it doesn't remove the busybox so if possible try to make a zip which removes all the traces of the a rooted stock ROM.
You could start a new thread for it if you think it's needed as it is pretty useful & important.
Cheers !
Adam Now we are having ICS, so is it possible to rectify the touch Recovery bug (little lazy for few seconds) please.....
oops sorry i haven't read the OP fully, Ok now i understood because of kernel size you are not able to do it.....
UPDATE:
I updated the links, added CWM v4.0.0.2 and a short tutorial.
I'll get stock GB and ICS recoveries and add them in the following days (It depends on when I get them.)
If u want I can send u stock recovery images.

You cannot flash through stock recovery right now. Flash a one with Odin first, it'll not increase the binary counter.

Nice...no problems so far.
I want to try this rom but I need a few answers to my questions.
1) Can I flash CM10.1 rom on top of this rom, IF (a big if) I'm not satisfied with it?
2) Can I use faux kernel with this rom? I'm a fan of his kernel.
3) During flashing, is sdcard content wiped? I have use 20 GB now and I can't connect my N7 to PC because of MTP issue. The only way to backup my sdcard is by using USB OTG and it took ages (!) to finish copying all that stuff.
4) Does this rom have expanded desktop feature like PA rom?
5) Does it support USB OTG (without the need for Stickmount or other app)?
6) Do I have to flash another recovery than what I have now, which is CWM Touch recovery 6.0.2.3 for tilapia?
7) What features or functionality is not working or not available? I was told that this rom support WiFi tethering, which is the feature I need most. I was wondering if there's any missing features that stock 4.2.1 have but this rom don't have.
8) How does this rom handles update? Do I check for update in CM OTA app (if there is such feature in CM rom and this rom) or do I wait for new build to be uploaded here and flash in recovery? If the former is true, then it will overwrite the rom files, is it not? I am afraid that jumping back and forth between this rom and CM will make it unstable and other weird things (reboot or whatnot)
If you think of my post as super noob, then please refrain from replying. Just ignore it (as mentioned in OP). If you indeed want to help, feel free to reply.

All OK temasek, 5stars for you !
Can you add the link for the latest gapps?
p.s. Please temasek can you add the tile for data toggle in fast setting panel?
It's important to me in Italy we use ever 3g connection because there isn't much WiFi access points.
Ty

1. Yes
2. Idk yet. I'm using motley kernel Atm. But if faux says it's for cm10.1 then it's ok.
3. No. If you already on cm10.1 then flash without wiping over this kang build. But if you are on stock ROM then u need to wipe data in cwm recovery.
4. Yes. I submitted the overlay to cm gerrit & it was approved & merged.
5. I've not tested otg yet. So Idk Atm.
6. No. Cwm 6.0.2.3 is good.
7. So far I found nothing is missing from stock. CM adds more features to stock ROM. I've submitted the wifi tethering commit to cm gerrit awaiting review but it is in my build.
8. CM updater is for official builds not for my kang build. Follow me in twitter or follow this thread for new kang builds.
U can move from cm official builds to my builds, vice versa....anytime. Will not corrupt anything.
This is a nexus device & being a nexus device means great stability even in cm.
Btw I use Airdroid in Play Store to transfer files between my phone & my pc. It's a great piece of app.

Airdroid is great, but for pure transfer of files I use X-link from the store. At least for my usage.....not to mention it works between devices and computers.

I'm new to N73G. If I wipe data will the complete storage/emulate/0 be wiped or will e.g. my navigation maps and my titanium backup stay safe? Haven't got a firm grasp of the concept - without external sd - yet.

Stock recovery, wipe data = bye bye all internal including your own stuffs in /data/media which is your user space.
Cwm recovery, wipe data = all internal wipe but your /data/media is safe. The....emulated/0 is in /data/media so it is definitely safe.

AFAIK no.
Custom recovery will never wipe user space when choosing wipe /data, if not all will jump up their seats and start a rebellion!

[ROM}{ShoreDroid 4.4 based on CM11, AOSP and OmniROM}(Flashable and Installer Script)

So here is the deal folks,
**FOR SCREENSHOTS CLICK HERE!!**
I have updated my first supported ShoreDroid device using CM, AOSP and OmniROM to Android 4.4! This is a beta build and as such will come with a couple bugs - please report them here and not to CM, AOSP or OmniROM.
This build is the first and will not come with everything at once but right now it's a working build of KitKat. I have included the updated unofficial CWM Recovery you will need to flash this to your device. I have also included a flashable zip for those who just want to update recovery and flash with s-off and an installer script for those who have s-on using a windows machine.
Below are the instructions - please read them and understand I take no liability whatsoever with whatever may happen to your device. You take full responsibility from here.
Basics such as unlocking bootloader, rooting, fastboot and flashing should all be assets prior to beginning!
Flashable Steps
1. Download the current ROM and have it ready on your device -------->DOWNLOAD Updated!!!
2. Download my unofficial CWM Recovery and fastboot flash it to update your recovery ------->http://d-h.st/bSM
3. Boot into recovery and ensure you have a backup made
4. Factory Wipe, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik and Format System prior to flashing or you'll end up unstable
5. Flash ROM
6. Flash Gapps found here ---------->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
7. Reboot and voila!
*You can still do this method with s-on but you will have to first extract the boot.img for the zip and fastboot flash it right after updating your recovery and then flash the zip from step 4 down. Or you can use the installer script!
Update Script
1. Download the Installer Package here ---------> DOWNLOAD
2. Ensure the current ROM zip is on your phone as well!!!
3. Unzip the update script to your desktop
4. Reboot into recovery and flash ROM zip then go to advanced-reboot into bootloader
5. Run UPDATE.bat and follow instructions exactly or you will end up with boot loops!!!
6. Voila!

ViPER4Android FX
Introduction
We have decided to leave BeatsAudio behind and start a new chapter of audio enhancement with KitKat. We are pleased to merge ViPER Audio into the ROM. You'll find the control panel is similar to DSP Manager and that all features are easy to use. I've personally tested the system out with urBeats headphones and it sounds great with the effects that you're able to manipulate. We will add continuously to this post as it will be our official ViPER support post so check back for more information later.

Hello,
I have twrp 2.6.0 and would that cwm recovery override it? thanks
Phoenixita's recovery should be fine, it is CWM after all. I agree about that Recovery Tools app too, it's a really valuable app if you want to switch recoveries easily.

Scozzar said:
Yes it would. You can only have one recovery installed at a time. Lately, I've been using the Recovery Tools app on the Play Store. It allows you to flash recoveries without having to use your computer. It's nice if you're going between 4.3.1 and 4.4 ROMs because you can flash CWM and twrp.
EDIT: Also, can we use Phoenixita's recovery for this as well? I would prefer, just so I don't have 3 different recoveries all named "recovery.img". Can we rename the file, or would that screw things up?

You can freely rename them. Not sure if recovery tools has anything in its scripting to load only recovery.IMG though. If you flash with fastboot, you will just have to alter your command to reflect the respective file name. i.e. fastboot flash recovery whateveryourenamedyourrecovery.img

installed the rom,and google apps..it works like a charm,thank you...but two issues:
1.the vibration is very much and there's no way to make it less
2.the wifi can not connect,i turn it on but it can't connect to my access point
Strong vibration is normal for aosp ROMs.

[falcon][CWM Advanced Edition] PhilZ Touch

Main thread + features + install instructions + dev support
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860
PhilZ Touch is a CWM Advanced Edition that adds all the features you could ever miss in CWM
It is a well proven recovery for many phones
It also adds a full touch interface a completely configurable GUI
Please give your feedback, what works, and any bug you could encounter
Read the features, and check if you are missing something
Also, do not forget to read about the powerful aroma file manager integration and double tap shortcut
I've been added on to this post as a contributor, so now you can direct blame my way. (Oh yeah, I'm @Hachamacha on this board.) All credits to Phil3759 and the guys the made CM11 happen.
Just added the 6.58.7 build (see main thread) and has a number of enhancements and is likely the final build for months: You can download from the usual spot in either .img or .zip format. Keep in mind that on this device I'm just a builder and don't have any of the "moto g" devices myself so all testing is in your hands.

Let me know about any bug
Very nice. Not fully usable for GPE devices though, cannot mount /data partition supposedly because it is fomatted to ext4 not f2fs.
Seemed to backup as expected going todo a restore now ill let you know how it goes.
I did a full cleanup before i was going to restore the rom it seems to have deleted the backup.

GPe Moto G uses ext4 instead of f2fs. Working fine on XT1032 running 4.4.2.
Does anybody know if this also works with 4.4 on XT1033?

One other thing, the date in CWM is wrong; backup today was labeled: 1970-02-14.11.06.59_KLB20.9-1.10-1.9
i get the 'can't mount backup path' error... what do i need to do to get rid?

You can go into the settings and manually change the date.
Will this recovery be able to install OTA updates for stock rooted ROM?

Heres the Latest CM11 Snapshot M12 that CyanogenMod released
This is Android 4.4.4
This ROM includes:
- F2FS-ALL (System,Cache and Data)
- PA Micro GAPPS (Feb 15, 2015)

Theres tons of guides here on how to do this:silly:
- If you have already F2FS-ALL your System,Cache and Data using TWRP 2.8.5 or later
Just do a Factory Wipe in TWRP and manually Wipe System for a Clean install.
Doing so Would Not Format your Internal Storage.
- Install CM11 SNAPSHOT M12 F2FS-ALL-grouper.zip
- Then Flash the latest SuperSU
- Wipe Cache and Davlik
- Reboot
- Enable ART(optional)
- Install Nova Launcher for More Speed(Highly Recommended)

I've got pristine CM11 M8 with clockwork mod 6.0.4.3
There are *lots* of posts... but can anyone direct me to a clear safe path from this to M9 with F2FS system and data?
There are many posts that involve fiddling with custom kernels on each update, and so on, but I want to avoid that and just have rolling CM 11 updates with support for F2FS on system and data.
thanks

Use [ROOT] Rashr - Flash Tool to install the latest TWRP recovery.
Then follow this guide [Guide][WIP] To ALL-F2FS

Darn, that guide didn't work, failed flashing;
set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/usb-otg/CM11 M9 F2FS-ALL Grouper.zip'
On reboot it is stuck at "Google" screen with unlocked padlock
I have TWRP 2.7.1.1 (flashed using RASHR)
[EDIT] I repeat f2fs and try again and this time it works
Ack! now I restore data the restore will first format as ext4;
so to backup the ext4 data ina way I can restore it, I get a command window in /data and do:
tar -c . > /usb-otg/data.tar
then reboot back into recover and make data as f2fs again, and then:
tar -xv < /usb-otg/data.tar
Although data restored I had to so a wipe for the new system to work properly.
Thanks animatrix999 this is much slicker than CM11 M8 standard.
Only fault is also with CM11 standard is that Google play videos won't play, even when downloaded, although music will

Only on Nexus 7 WiFi 2012 model.
I went back to stock 4.4.4 (with hacks to get boot to load), loaded twrp 2.7.1.0 with fastboot, rooted, left bootloader unlocked, and movies play OK.
I found that a twrp backup consists of tar files; e.g. data.ext4.win000 and data.ext4.win001 so I migrated bacl to f2fs and restored data manually by getting a shell in the backuo dir and running:
tar -C / -x < data.ext4.win000
tar -C / -x < data.ext4.win001
and that restored fine but most apps still failed unless I re-installed. google play movies and tv had an update and it didn't crash after the update but still could not play any movies so i think maybe there is a drm library missing or something.
So I am back to 4.4.4 stock image with trim but no f2fs.
I may do a diff on the files to see what might be missing from this all-f2fs image
- intersting the official 2048 force closes in stock but not in this m9 image.
This ROM is missing
/vendor/lib/mediadrm
/vendor/lib/mediadrm/libwvdrmengine.so
which sound related
Also missing: /vendor/lib/libfrsdk.so
but i don't know what that is
also: /lib/libchromeview.so
Later I will try transfer the libwvdrmengine.so to see if google play movies & tv starts working
Not just google play movies & tv, but also bluetooth is not working on M9 as well.
I don't know if it was working on M5 (did not try that).
How long does the first boot take. Think i have s bootloop. It's almost 15 minutes on the cm logo

All ready fixed it. I flashed it after coverting to f2fs and got a bootloop. Then i sideloaded it with the Nexus toolkit and flashed it again and now it works.
Let's see if f2fs really works (first time using it)
---------- Post added at 12:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:56 AM ----------
Next problem i can't cast (bubbleupnp or any other app) to my chromecast anymore.
Edit: also fixed
