Softbrick is when the device is bootlooping due to system problems.
Hardbrick is when the device can't go to recovery and download mode.

because you need to wipe(factory reset) when flashing different roms. when you upgrade the same rom, you dont have to wipe.
i have and its still not working do i need to wipe cahce to

wiping data(factory reset) should take care of that. wipe, flash rom, flash gapps(if needed), and reboot. thats all.
done all that still gets stuck at the loading screen
ok got one to flash i did a cache wipe to and it seem to work ty

I'm not sure why, but sometimes when I flash a recovery and reboot into recovery from ROM Manager, I get the same thing. But if I flash, then power off and boot into recovery using volume+powerUp, it works fine.

but my stock rom sayin MD5 mismatch no?? so how can i flash it??
flash something custom, or wait couple of mins, I'll find you how "md5 mismatch" error can be fixed
EDIT: Here you go man http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1835914
Edit2: And don't panic, if you can enter the recovery, everything is easyly fixable (that's for the next time)

Enter in Recovery
Mount all(system,data,cache,sdcard,sdext)
Then do a clean wipe(wipe/factory reset, wipe system, wipe dalvik cache)
Install the custom rom, you wish as per instructions of the rom developer.

Did you check MD5 before flashing? Could be a bad download.
Usually boot loop issues are due to left overs from your previous rom so,
If you're on CWM recovery , use this ORDER :
1.Reset user data/factory reset
2.Format System
3.Format Data
4.Format Cache
5.Format SD card (back up your important files first)..
Then flash the rom ... Don't wipe dalvik it's already in /data
This applies not just to CM10 , use this procedure to any rom flash or any nandroid restore ...

DONT clear system partition..

Is there any way to go back to stock rom without formatting?

If you flash a new (base) rom on your device it may not automatically wipe your dalvik -cache, This means your old dalvik -cache will be used for the new system files which would result in a bootloop, after restoring a system only backup it is actually the same as the above one, since only /system is restored (when reverting back to stock) there is an incorrect
dalvik -cache present which will cause the bootloop. Note that some roms/ firmwares use /data and some use /cache for the
dalvik -cache.
So basically you won't be able to do that without formatting, sorry
Don't just say thanks, press the ? button.
