Hello,, I recently got a Galaxy note 2 GT-N7100 and I decide to root it using the following method (http://galaxynote2root.com/galaxy-note-2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-2-easiest-method/) and it really works. For example, I saw the installed Supersu app and I am able to use Titanium Backup to restore and backup stuff. However, the supersu app disappears after a while and I the Root Checker app also says that my device is not yet rooted (so I download Superuser instead) but I am still able to use to Titanium Backup app but it doesn't show the "Titanium Backup has been gained Superuser permission" message..How come? Thanks.

Phew! I was getting really worried

Actually there's nothing worry about since I may just used the wrong superuser app since as long as TB works fine; it is rooted.

rooted my phone last week. tried installing a screenshot app that requires root. told me my phone wasn't rooted. so i rebooted it and tried loading up titanium backup because i know that works as i uninstalled a the stock att apps. it's FC on me when it 'asks for rights' or whatever.
any idea?
stock rom, unleashthebeast installed, lag fix ext 2 installed as well.
Maybe you have to open the super user application first. You should get a pop up from the super user application when an app is requesting root access.

I just installed titanium backup to backup apps and settings.
So far, all it has done is ask me for root access. About 400 times. It's asking for root permissions for the same package, UID, everything, and it's rendered the app useless.
Anyone know whats going on?
Obvious question but do you have root access?
Also, click on the problems button at the bottom to install busybox.
I have root access and installing that doesn't help. Not what i expected from an app everyone says is brilliant. Are there any alternatives to TB?

Are you rooted with busy box? Have you clicked on the problems tab

Yeah, installed the version of busybox it came with. Still no good, it's making me have to reboot my phone every time i even open the app. I've reinstalled busybox, TB and superuser, still no good.
I am rooted and on pa 2.13 ROM but titanium back up days no. I do have the supetuser app but not the su app. Do I need that? Thought they were the same. Not sure how to get it working. Wanted to back up apps
Thanks

When you open TB it should ask iff superuser should allow this program
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Try rebooting. Worked for me
You may have to go into Superuser and clear your history of allowed apps. If you accidentally hit deny (or hit back when the Superuser request box came up), TB won't be able to get root access and won't work.
make sure busybox is installed.

This happened to me when the Rom I was installing failed to set the correct permissions on superuser. Download the flashible zip for superuser and flash it in cwm...if that fixed it, you are made in the shade!

you may also want to update binaries, and just clear cache for TB and SU
In addition to all the above helpful comments....Make sure you also go into Developer Options and select "USB Debugging" and also under Security...select "Unknown Sources". That usually causes issues when trying to run TB also.
There's an app called Root Checker which will check your root status. It's free. The paid version, Root Check Pro, also checks for busybox.
Both on Play Store.

All suggestions are correct above plus:Wipe data for titanium in the applications area under settings, this happens to me every so often when changing rom's. Sometimes uninstalling and reinstalling will fix it too. Make sure su is fully updated as well.

I just got a replacement from ATT. It comes with stocked ICS. I used Jim's root method found here. Ran the root.bat and got the success message. I got the access to the system folder. I can copy, paste and delete files in the system folder. However, when I tried to freeze or recover apps with Rom Toolbox, it failed. Tried other freeze apps like App Quarantine, Android root toolkit, all failed. Any help would be appreciated.
i use titanium backup..no freezing problems for me

Thanks for your input! I just tried the titanium backup, and it solved the problem. I started the TB and got the message "your rom is rooted but the "su" binary has non-optimal access rights, which may cause problems. Titanium backup pro can fix this problem automatically in many cases, do you want to proceed?" I selected yes. And problem solved.
This is yet another example of why ROM Toolbox is crap, and doesn't play nicely with this device. I tell people all the time to stay away from it: don't install it, don't use it to change anything, just leave it right there in Google Play Store. I've seen people soft brick using ROM Toolbox, it's just not worth the hassle guys...

I've got it installed and did an initial backup. Then I set up regular backups. It seemed to be working okay, until I moved my backup files to my SD card and specified that TB back up to that location from now on. Now I keep getting messages saying TB couldn't get root access, so it never runs the periodic backups. Typically, I'm asleep when this happens, so I can't even grant root access when it wants it.
Also, I'm just unsure about whether I'm performing a backup of everything I'd need if I ever need to completely restore my system. Any information about what, exactly, I should be backing up, would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Sure... I am rooted. I started with stock US ICS, flashed the German JB OS, and then did a factory reset when the US JB was released. Now I'm on that. I imagine I would be restoring to that, if anything horrible should happen.

OK you might have root but lets check first..
1a...Go to the super user app and see if Tb has grant access..If No clear it from superuser and return back to Tb and it should ask for root..
1b...If you go into super user app and it says you don't have Root than you gotta need to root yourself again..
Also the best backup is a Cwm backup after you setup a good ROM...

SuperSU shows a green number sign next to Titanium Backup. I'm assuming that means it has root access? (As an aside, there's an red number sign next to something called dumpstate. I remember that asking for root access, and I denied it, twice.)
When I opened Super SU, nothing said I didn't have root access.
What is CWM?

It sounds like to me you lose root... How did you get root before? And CWM is clockworkmod..

Sounds to me like Titanium Backup has auto updated, and Super SU is now checking again. There is a setting in Super SU to allow previously granted programs to use root without prompting even after update.

What, of what I told you, tells you I lost root? I can get root access to my file system with my file explorer. I can access the apks in my data/data folder.
I know what CMD stands for. I just don't know what it is. I see it here on the forum all the time, but like a lot of terms here, people refer to them and don't really say what they are.

Found the setting and unchecked it. I'll see if this works. Thanks!
Can I delete factory apps from my rooted sg3 the T-Mobile one's?

Hi everybody
I have a problem with titanium backup - i can't create a label for my frozen apps.
1) First i select frozen apps in filters so that only frozen apps are displayed
2) Then i hit Create Label and Add Elements. Here is the problem - after i hit Add Elements i get a list of all apps on my device, not just frozen ones.
However if i wanted to create a label for defrosted apps, it would do it just fine.
So am i doing something wrong or is it a bug?
