Surface RT " Cold Boot Up " Time - its getting slower after every update ????
Hi all !
Why is the Surface RT boot-up-time getting slower the more it is updated ?
Out of the box and after the first major updates in November, a full cold-boot-up to the log-on screen was taking only 22 seconds.
Now, following every update after those November updates, it is getting slower-and-slower to boot up - its now up to around ~40 <-> ~45 seconds.
Definelty, after all the updates - once booted - the Surface is running super smooth and much better - BUT - why has the cold-boot-time nearly doubled ?!?!?!?!?

Why are you cold booting your always on device?

Mine gets to the lock screen in less than 30 seconds.
Quite OK I guess still.
I very seldom do a full reset anyhow and restart from sleep mode is fast!

[Q] Has the HTC 7 Pro shown any problems so far?

Hi, guys, I've been hesitating whether to buy or not the HTC 7 Pro over the last 7-8 months. I've been waiting so far for the device to get mature and any manufacturing defects/flaws to show up (if any).
So, guys, you've been using the device for 7-8 month now (some of you rigorously) and your feedback will be important to me.
How's the device holding up? How's the hinge mechanism holding up? Any signs of wear after 7-8 months of use? How's the sliding mechanism holding up? Are there any indications that the phone will fall apart soon?
Any problems at all? Please post here.
Ive used it for 8 months now, and i love it. No problems at all on the hardware
mine holds very good. i like the battery life of it. and the whole phone is made of good materials, the mechanism is really good, and it looks like it is build for some years to hold, and some rough use also the phone is worth all the money
and i have the latest RTM build of the OS (7720) with it the phone gets even better than on the stock version of the OS.
Been using 7pro since March, no major problems to report. I work in construction so the phone has to cope with less than perfect enviroments. Keep it in a sock, use a screen protector. There appears to be some sort of protective coating on the battery cover that has started to rub off, but other than that I can report that it is an excellent quality phone and I see no reason (at present) why it won't last the 24months of the contract.

i only have a problem with the back cover, it seems that is painted in grey and not the original color of the metal plate. and now after just 2 months of careful use. the letters on the cover are fallen out i a cant find them. and the color splits...
Has somebody the same problem like me???
but still a good phone.
Hey there
Yes, I had to send mine back in under warranty. The unit had an internal memory error and would get stuck in a constant boot loop.
The phone is built well, so it was a shock when it stopped working.
I can only say 2 bad things about this phone.
1) the capactive buttons are really annoying. Its very easy to brush past them and bring up Bing
2) WP7 sucks, its really good and bloody terrible at the same time.

mainly software bugs. The phone has managed to freeze up a couple of times, requiring battery pull; and it does get pretty hot while using gobs of data. Still, its far more refined than my TP2

Same issue with mine. Doesn't look too bad though. Other than that, had mine 5 months and had no issues at all.
Personally, I don't like the capacitive buttons.. and I'm becoming increasingly annoyed with the search button!
Also, I don't know if anyone else has this problem..
If my keyboard is slightly moved/nudged, it wakes the phone up. See video..

Now a couple of months later i see some issues, if i plug my htc 7 pro to the charger, the UI staggers, i dont know to describe it. it feels and looks like 2 frames per second if i slide thru the start screen. i think this is a software bug. because the battery statistics app (homebrew) says that it uses only 171MB of memory, from the 571MB. so it could not be a memory issue.

What's your firmware version?
Do you have a software that measures the CPU usage?
Try resetting the phone.

i have a custom ROM from ansar which is tango 8773, bootloader still 1.22.2250.0, 5.71.09.02a_22.51.50.21U ROM. i tried to restart the phone but still the same. i have this battery meter app where i can see how many RAM is used, but not a CPU meter app and it looks like the CPU is doing something in the background for the whole time of charging, it happens not in the first second i plug in my phone, but in the first 5 minutes and then until i unplug it it doesnt stop. it is really a big bug. the scrolling on the start screen is in WP7 really fast but on charging it is like 2-3 fps. but i dont touch my device now until it is charged...

If I recall correctly, when this happened to me, it turned out to be the battery affecting the phone's performance, whenever it was being charged.. I had loads of batteries from my Touch Pro 2 days; after swapping it out for another one, the phone no longer gets hot during a charging session, and performance remaind smooth as silk.
PS: The faulty battery HATED my TouchPad charger; most of the spares charge quick, and without fail.
i have a lot of problems with my HTC 7 pro. keyboard lights and the 3 butons light verry porr

What do you mean "keyboard lights"? Does it light all the time? Even when the phone is closed? But if it is closed, how can you see whether it lights?
Install this app: WinPhone Info Free. Go to Miscellaneous. See the "Keyboard deployed" section. Is is "Yes" or "No" ?

Different touchscreen bug

Hi,
My OPO is having some strange behaviors when it comes to the touchscreen. Not only I'm having the ghost touches (still no fix out, right?), but I'm also having a strange bug that makes the center portion of the screen unusable all the freaking time.
I made a video (sorry for the bad quality, the glitch about 25 seconds in and the general noobness ) showing the bug in action (sometimes it happens on the lock screen, which is infuriating cause I have to way of unlocking and have to wait until good guy OPO gets his **** together).
Anyway, is there anyone with a similar problem? any fix on the mind of an illuminated soul? or to the warranty (or lack of it) with it?
Thanks.

I have it too...When i wake up my phone sometimes i have to wait a few sec before the screen becomes responsive...It must be something related to touchscreen software or drivers, theyre really bugged as now.
Yea I also have it, I had it yesterday when i had to call cardstop when my wallet was stolen and my screen wasn't working.
Powered off for 5 min then only the bottom of the screen was was working.
hey guys Abhisek Devkota of CM says that is a firmware related issue caused by partnbers that gave drivers to cm..they now are working hard for it and in this month should be two updates..the firts with the workaround on the ota in the next days and the second with kernel patch

I hope so, its happening almost every time I unlock/try to unlock the phone now. its really annoying, specially during calls, yesterday I called a friend and he didn't pick up so the call went to the voicemail, since I didn't want to leave any message I tried to end the call, but because of this bug I had to put the phone to sleep and wake it up to end the call making me pay for a dam voicemail.
Any news on a fix for this ?
I am having this issue as well but it just started today and I have had the phone for about 3 weeks. After a few minutes of use my touch screen except for the navigation buttons and the status bar become unresponsive and I have to power cycle my device to get the screen working again.
It happened to me today as well. I sure it will be fixed but still glad I have my Nexus 5 till then.
I have found a temporary fix (at least for me). After trying out many different kernels I ended up with the XNPH22R Kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2780725). After a reboot the screen frooze but then recoverey without reboot. Now I had no freeze for around 30 hours without reboot. Still running the XNPH25R CM11s Rom.
Phone is rooted and unlocked.
There are also speculations that the freezes could be temperature related or at least partially.

Oneplus one screen touching itself.

I have had my oneplus one for about a month now. And for the first time I dropped it. About 2 feet. And my friend kicked it about a foot to prevent it from hitting the tile and It landed on flat carpet. The phone has a small dent on the lower left corner and screen has 2 small scratches that I only can see in sunlight. So I've been using my phone and every once and awhile it will go insane and the touchscreen will move on its own and press things. I hope this isn't an issue cause of dropping it.. I have a warranty but have alot on this opo already. Is there a possibility it's software?

The Touchscreen failure you have sounds a lot like the problem I had from time to time with mine (without dropping).
There are also other bugs with the screen:
- unresponsive screen (-> reboot fixes temporarily)
- weird behavior like you descrive (ghost touches)
- fast typing not getting recognised
These problems will be fixed with the next 2 OTAs (both in august).
Wait if the fixes do work for you. If not it has definatly something to do with the accident.

OTA Announced today. Change log has a fix for turning on in pocket, but not for the unresponsive screen.
Actually I have had similar behavior and I'm using slimkat 7 now. This morning I couldn't enter even pin code as my phone didn't allow some presses. Numbers 1,2,4&5 weren't registered at all. Same time I couldn't use pull-down menu as it bounced back up after 1cm pull. Also when trying use power menu all options were unable to register. I force shut down phone twice and still same thing. Then I just wiped whole screen with moist cloth. And problem solved.
So there was something invisible holding my screen like finger or something.
I have had similar incident couple times earlier. When writing or so on....

The ghost touches lasted for 30 seconds today.. Anyone else having this to?
Yes it's annoying the crap out of me, seem to have the least amount of issue running slimkat with sensei kernel. Every other kernel seems to either leave the screen completely unresponsive a min after boot, or touch becoming increasingly less as time/process load increases. Really hope this issue is fixed soon.

Best thing is to go back to the XNPH22R Kernel. For me it fixed the frozen screen completly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2780725
It won't work with 30O though. 25R is working with 22R Kernel.
All other kernels are not working very smooth for my device. The OTA fixing this issue is anounced for August. No releasedate has been set though.
Is that kernel compatible with an aosp ROM lime slim or am I going to have to put a cm ROM bck on the phone

CM 11S kernels are only for CM 11S. 22R is a CM 11S kernel.
My phone has been alright today. Except for afew freezes. But I Wana Stay with cyanogenmod 11s. I think it will be updated soon. I really can't wait for Android L. Will android L be with cyanogenmod as well?
Great now the middle of my screen us touch dead........ Ughh

[Q] recently purchased tf300tl, couple of general questions

First of all, it`s ridiculously slow for the first 10 minutes after coming from sleep or on start up. Is it suppose to be liken that? I already done master reset on it, nothing got improved. Second, when on charge, screen keeps blinking, coming on and off, making sounds. Is that normal?
Thank you

Yes, it is 'that' slow on stock firmware. You are talking about budget tablet released 3 years ago.
1. Change power setting to High performance. (Battery will last 4 hours instead of 9)
2. Unlock boot-loader and get a good Kitkat rom on the tablet and it should be bit better.
Charge screen is a bit weird. Mine registers touches at random points even though I haven't touched it.
I have to turn screen off and on to fix it.
Root!

Root it immediately and flash the new lollipop rom. I was getting so frustrated with the lag I was ready to buy a new one and give my tf300 to my young kids to trash. Rooted it with the helpful directions here and flashed the katkiss lollipop rom and now my tablet is blazing fast. It's as fast or faster than my wife's iPad. Just wish I had rooted sooner!

Question Honor 20 pro problem

Hi , first I'm sorry didn't know where to post this
I own an honor 20 pro
Kirin 980, 256+8 , harmony OS 2.0
my problem started a month ago out of a sudden the phone started to have a sluggish performance by sluggish I mean really slow, buggy and annoying
AnTuTu went down from 400k to 120k ish (around 1/4 of the performance)
It overheats and the most annoying thing is that I can't lock it or let the screen time out
Whenever the screen is off regardless if it times out , button lock or even a call it'll reboot but not when it's plugged in
The performance is still slow but it doesn't reboot , I found out that it'll reboot if it reaches around 85% and the screen is off even if it's plugged in
I know it's a rollercoaster,just read it twice you'll get it
My question is did anyone have this problem before? cause none of the shops could pinpoint the problem and I don't have any spare parts in my country for the phone so I have order the parts all the way from china (it's a real pain )
Tried changing the bettary , clearing the cash , Factory reset ,safe mood none of it works
Ps : could it be a charging port assembly? Can a fualty charging port cause all that ?
Please help
