I have a 7 inch tablet from a unknown brand thit i got on ebay for 65$.... with android 4.0.4, I did it Root with super one click
Then the Titanium backup wrote that busy Box is not installed so I used the application "busy box installer" and installed the BusyBox with smart install.
Then when I turned the device back on, it suddenly lit up like a new device without any application and settings are reset when I tried to install applications, he wrote that the available memory is low (the device is Quite empty) when I look at settings \ Internal Storage, total space includes 0.00b.
If somone could please be abel to explain to me what happened, and / or how to fix it?
If it was $65... it's possible you used all the internal storage and that it's not empty, but totally full. It might report a larger storage size, but simply be re-writing over information or just ran out while installing.
i did a factory data reset
1.i did a factory data reset end it didn't help nothing
2.its not thit the memory is full it simply writes that all of my memory is 0.00b

Hi, I'm not sure if this is specifically a Nexus question or a general Android question but I have both a Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 and have observed the same behaviour on both
Basically what's happening is when I delete stuff from the SDcard the free space seems to be allocated to the system partition WTF?!
Take a look at the screenshots I'm going to try a couple of things - one of the suggested things was clearing the data in the Google Services Framework data >> Settings - Apps - All - Google Services Framework - Clear Data - which freed up some of it but not all, the next thing from here for me would be to flash the factory images again and see what I start out with
Both devices are on CM10.1 if that helps, is anyone else is having the same issue??

Ok so this is my partition sizes now after flashing the factory images back onto my nexus 7. No where near 5GB anyone have any idea what's causing this?
Updated the main post with evidence that this isn't my imagination - something is moving the memory allocation to the system partition rather than the sdcard =/
All my pictures, Titanium Backups, etc are on this card, but I cannot find them. I flashed Liquid's ROM and did a factory reset, but for some reason it only backed up some old files in the 0 folder in my internal storage. That folder was actually one level down from the root-below the card's default storage spot, so not sure how it happened. When the OS loaded up and I saw everything was gone, I had a tiny heart attack. Couldn't find it with Solid Explorer, but saw that there was only 3GB of space left on the internal card, and this was a clean flash with literally no apps installed or data on the internal storage card. I knew my data must be somewhere on it! I remembered the app called Disk Usage that shows what's taking up space in your memory cards. I installed it and sure enough, there was a huge amount of data in a System folder. You can open the folders directly from the app, but I don't have the option with this folder (as seen in the screenshot, the SHOW option is greyed out). Can anyone help me? I know the stuff is there, just not sure how to get to it.

Found the answer in case anyone ever runs into this issue.

The used space is about 8.08GB and free space is about 4.48GB. But then in this screenshot the size of whole SDCARD folder is just 6.36GB.
So, what's using the extra 1.4 GB and where is it residing?
Extra notes:
1. Recently I had to factory reset my phone and lost everything on it, and after I added back my files from laptop the space reported was correct. No ghost usage.
2. The thumbnails files in DCIM folder got huge and I deleted them to recover nearly 1.5GB, but I'm not sure if that change actually shows up.
Please help with any insight. Also, does your SDCARD folder and storage usage show such differences?
Internal storage isn't just /sdcard. Its shared with /data so /data/app, /data/data is included.

That is interesting to know. Thank you for the quick reply and link to relevant information - I'll go through it.
Good day to you
It is running CM 10.2.0-skyrocket and I just wanted to make some room on the phone for my senior mom by moving pictures to SD card and to my surprise half the pictures, if not more, is just a pixelized mess or just gray box.
Is there a way to recover the original pictures on-board storage?
from my past experiences w/pics short answer is no, once they've corrupted ur sol, best practices is to "copy" first then see if that went ok b4 deleting. i guess u "moved" the files first
Thanks for the reply, I installed several different recovery software which I think should have no problem recovering the pictures (I used them for SD cards before) but this darn phone does have Mass Storage Mode.
So I installed a couple of mass storage enabler apps from Play store, but when I enable Mass Storage Mode, I end up getting these:

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
When I disable mass storage mode, I get access to internal drive but it shows up as media device of course and that doesn't get assigned a drive letter.
Yes, I should have copied first, big mistake, lesson learned, with one sad mom looking at gray boxes now..
Hi guys so basically I've been having this problem of not knowing what's taking up all my storage space on my samsung tab. It's not that bad of an issue but since I use this tablet to take notes during lectures, the space is very much needed.

When I click into the "Used Space" tab it tells me that apps are the biggest cause of the space deficit (about 5.55GB - the other categories in here take up very small space). However when I click on "Applications" within "Used Space", it shows me the image below. It doesn't really make sense as my biggest app is Evernote at 785mb. I have other apps also but surely they all don't add up to 5.55GB (there's only a few over 100mb the rest are fairly small).
I then thought the problem is with the "Miscellaneous Files" as it says that is taking up 4.81GB. Howeverthe image below shows this isn't the case.
So then I finally proceeded to use ES File Explorer to verify if there was 4.81GB being taken up. See the image below.
Fair enough the ES File Explorer seems to match up with Miscellaneous. But still, how can a 16GB file space be taken up when there isn't even 5.55GB worth of apps?
Can someone please help me with this as I really need this space to make my lecture notes. THANK YOU!
