just bought a white nexus s and it is a beauty. it is actually pearl white and has an awesome feel to it. I definitely prefer this to the black one. i bought it for my gf who accidentally tossed her nexus s in the washer
anyway, boxwave had some good reviews so I bought their crystal clear protector on amazon. very disappointed that its not an exact fit, its actually a lot smaller. so i am planning to return it. do you guys have any suggestion for a good protector? I want a perfect fit that is clear or invisible and feels natural to the touch (no rubbery feel).
phantom skinz all the way man. clear as glass on my ns4g.

there are very few screen protectors that would *exactly* fit on the screen, they usually always make it a bit smaller than the screen size for some wiggle room
i bought mine from clarivue, got the ultra clear ones. it doesn't protect the front camera lens and sensor areas at the top, but it gets everything else. i think 2 were for $11-12ish and they do free worldwide shipping, so can't really ask for much.
Had the Zagg and hated the orange peel texture plus it got a small scratch from who knows what...
Have the ghost armor now for a month and love it (so far).

love my skinomi. it doesn't feel rubbery either. just make sure you get a full skin. my skinomi was installed last week, and is finally clearing up all it's bubbles. it looks fantastic!
Has anyone seen or heard of a wet application Screen protector that covers the entirety of the front screen, but also has the matte/anti-glare finish on it?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
You're gonna have a hard time finding that. I'd say go the dry application route, and pair the screen protector with a case. It'll do a good job of covering the edges.
Thanks, that's sort of what I expected to hear. I wonder what's preventing them from being made. I know I sure would love a matte feel all the way to the edge of that curved glass

the only matte wet protector i saw was one that offers a matte back but the front is still clear

The same thing as why we only have 2 types of bumpers available: OEM or Poetic.
Fosmon is crap
I too had been looking for a matte protector, and got one; had one on my iphone 4, but they have been really bad with the proximity sensor. I had to cut out a piece, and it looks like crap. I got the Fosmon one from amazon.
I'm pretty sure bestskinsever offers one

Your best bet is to stick with dry app screen protectors. The top ones I can come up with are SGP or Martin Fields. They aren't cheap at all, but I've been through cheap ebay ones enough and got tired of the texture and the clarity issue.
SGP won't cover the entire screen. It will leave some corners vulnerable but I have a diztronic case with sort of "lips" over the edges to cover most if not all the exposed areas. I think Martin Field's may cover more than the SGP, but not completely.
The older "Military Grade" of Invisible shield would be closer to sort of a matte finish. They still sell it on the website ( zagg.com ) at cheaper than their newer HD version which is their glass-like version of the screen at the same thinness. The older version also has sort of a rubberish feel to the surface, but it doesn't have that glossy/glass glare like the newer HD version.
Im one of those people who don't like spending hundreds of pound for well designed slimline tech then make it unslimline by
adding a bulky case, ill prefer letting it get few scratches and enjoying.
When i brought the phone i bought the ballistic case £30 but its just to big and ugly very protective but no nice to look at or feel
what im using is a dbrand carbon fibre skin to protect the back and it looks awsome feels good too, and black pouch that ill use
when going out

I have a bootleg replica bumper case. Dropped my phone a few times and everything is still good. I do use it repeatedly without any protection. I am looking to purchasing a tempered glass protection but I can't find anything descent that's affordable and mimics the actual screen.

cheap leather bro, plus it doesnt fit it snug could fit a 6 inch phone in them there not made to measure
Mine fits, it is a little snug but it should stretch out after a while, plus the curves fits the N4 perfectly, can't complain for the price
Ringke Slim case, with spigen ultra crystal front/back screen protectors. I have a pouch i carry it in sometimes when i'm out and about.
always naked and lo and behold it's still doing fine after 6 months and several drops. on the front I have 4 minor scratches and 3 of them are not in the screen area. the other is so miniscule it's invisible if you aren't looking for it.

Is there a difference between the two, besides price? Also I'm new to this glass screen protector stuff, the thicker the glass the better the protection? I'm getting a Trident Aegis case and I'm not sure if the .2mm-ish would fit or if I would have to get the .15mm one.
Mine has better customer service and I really like the anti dust film they provide compared to an alcohol swab from spigen.
I have a spigen glas.tr and fell it was worth the $30. Its smooth and slick which does not effect any sensitivity. Cutouts are perfect and I would recommend to get a aluminum button. Mime got it far $2.50 or spigen got it in a 3 pack for $10

Mime has amazing service. You have any problems with the product, they'll send yu a replacement for free, no questions asked.
In the future, your screen gets scratched up or broken, they'll send you a replacement with 40% off coupon.
This coming from personal experience with their customer service.
Spigen has good products, but customer service can be slow at times..again from personal experience.
In terms of the glass protector, they're similar except a few dimension and style difference. They're both great.
Hope it helps!
I had the Spigen Glas.tR on my HTC One and it was awesome. Planning on ordering Spigens new Glas.t Nano Slim for the GS4 and getting it in time for the weekend. The new Glas.t Nano Slim is .15mm compared to MIME's v2.0 at .32mm.
I like mime and their customer service

Glas t slim is really thin and its easy to install. I really like it.
The most difficult part of the install is finding a dust-free room. This is almost true with every type/brand of screen protection.
Alignment is the key because its so thin as soon as you lay on the glass surface, it almost installs itself. Good luck.
anyone fond of invisible shield extreme?

Loving the spigen nano.
Sent from my SGH-I337 using xda premium
Spigen nano is amazing...installation was a breeze...and the touch is simply excellent. Can't even think to get back to plastic screen protectors now.
I will say after looking at MIME's site they do offer a tempered glass screen protector + aluminum button for the GN2 which is something Spigen doesn't do, based on issues they had early on. I hope Spigen returns to offering one for the GN3 and if not MIME does.
I recently installed a Spigen nano on my S4. Amazing. I can't believe I've been using the plastic screen protectors for so long. I love the fact that I can touch my screen and still have it feel like glass. The installation was also much easier than any non-glass screen protector. I just lined it up and dropped it down and the screen protector did the rest. Perfect fit with no bubbles.
For anyone that wants to see it done see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpsBbld0E2A
It's my video of my installation. The angle could have been better, but it gives you the basic idea.
What is the quality of the screen protector included with the Otterbox Commuter Series? I just ordered a brand new one (half off normal price on eBay), and though I already know that I love the case, I'm curious as to the quality of the screen protector that comes with it. Is there any screen clarity that is lost when it is applied correctly?
I've had the ZAGG Invisible Shield on my phone for a couple of months, and the screen quality on it was awful. It was so pixelated. I just took it off. This phone has such a gorgeous screen that if I can't have a screen protector that doesn't sacrifice the gorgeous HD display, I'd rather have none.
So I guess there's two parts here: is the included screen protector good, and if not, what is a good screen protector that works with the Commuter Series and doesn't sacrifice the screen quality?

Haven't got one for the gs4 yet but with precious otterbox I end up taking it off.
Since it only go over the screen and not stuck to the screen, it still allowed dirt and small particles to get under it. I ended up having to take the case apart to much to clean the dirt. So I took the screen protector portion off and applied a regular screen protector.
BTW you have s link to this eBay half off deal?

You want the best screen protector that won't sacrifice quality, you have to start looking at glass screen protectors. They are the best.

Just search for "otterbox commuter series galaxy s4" into the eBay search bar. There's tons of cases for much cheaper than the store or website. I was able go get one for $18, half off the official website and $22 less than Best Buy.
BTW, it sounds like you're talking about the defender series.

Yes sorry it was the Defender series that I've gotten in the past.
Well I'm 99% sure I got suckered into buying a fake Otterbox. I guess we'll see when it gets here.
I have the commuter and the screen protector that comes with it is pretty junky. It has the rainbow effect. Color streaks that you see far too often. I bought an iloome glass protector and its great! The only thing is they have crappy home buttons, they are cheap plastic or used to be. Idk if they changed to aluminum but I got an aluminum home button for a couple bucks and its all good
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
I can second that screen protector is junk. Hard to clean, rainbows really bad. I would recommend the spigen glas.tr nano if you have another 35 to burn. Best screen protector ive ever had.
Are these glass screen protectors easy to install cleanly? Do they leave any bubbles and is the screen still HD crisp? Also, do they fit well with the Commuter Series case? Sorry for all the questions.

They are super easy to install, Judy place on top of a clean screen and press... no bubbles because it is a solid piece of glass. There is a possibility for one large air bubble butt that is an easy fix, just lift up and slowly apply again by setting it back on top and press from the middle out.
It should fit that case but if the glass doesn't go to the edge perfectly or if the glass is too think, then it may not stay on right. Good luck!

I don't understand how the Zagg screen protectors detract from the screen quality... Yeah, if there are fingerprints on it maybe, but on a clean install I can't even tell there's a screen protector on it. To the original question though, the OB screen protector is terrible. I use the Otterbox defender, but the 1st thing I did was pop the crappy plastic screen protector off of it and put the Zagg protector on the phone. It's not like the Otterbox's screen protector is there to do anything more than prevent scratches to the screen.
I'm not sure it is clearly understood that there is a difference between the Commuter and Defender screen protectors. The Defender's is built in, while the Commuter's is a separate protector that is applied. I want to know the quality of that one.
As for the ZAGG, I've concluded that it's because of the Best Buy install. On lighter colors, the screen looked so ridiculously pixelated. It's an insult to the gorgeous screen that the S4 has.
At this point, I'll probably get a glass protector at some point, unless I love the protector I get with the case.
The iloome glass I have fits great with the commuter case. And its easy to put on. Just have to make sure the screen is clean. The glass stays straight so it very easy to align
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
Dont get the defender, the in built screen protector is worse than the separate one that comes with the commuter. It doesn't sit completely flat against the screen and will result in even worse rainbow effects and little pockets of separation that look terrible. Overall as good as the commuter case is i don't think that you would really gain much protection. That said the outside of the defender does feel really nice with the silicon.
As for glass screen protectors mine has been great and was really easy to install. Only thing is once its on, its on for good or at least until you change to a new one.
I think I'm gonna go for the iloome. It's on sale for $25 with free shipping on their website. I've spent a lot of money on protection for this phone, but it's still less than the insurance deductible on a new one.

I was worried about the same thing, but mine turned out to be authentic (I think). Look for:
Quality of silicone lining - Otterbox uses fairly stiff, yet flexible, silicone in their cases. The fakes usually use flimsy stuff that flops around and offers no protection.
Packaging - website listed on back, otterbox hologram sticker, sku sticker, etc. If the cardboard insert is printed to show a dummy screen, it's probably a fake. All of the otterbox inserts I've seen have been plain black.
A lot of people emphasize where it is made. I'm not too sure about that. I'd rather go by quality issues and obvious errors in design or packaging.
Look on youtube under "fake otterbox" and you'll see plenty of samples.
Good luck!
I must have got a good one, the screen protector that came with my otterbox commuter is just fine. No rainbow effect or anything
