Started having display problems earlier last month. When i press any of the keys to turn the screen on, sometimes the screen would stay off and the buttons on the bottom of the screen would light up. If i pressed the power button again the button lights would turn off.
I would have to wait several minutes or often times pull the battery for the screen to turn on again.
I deleted ALL apps I was running and it still happened
I then decided maybe it was my ROM/Kern. so I wiped everything and flashed Pac man.
Still had the same problem so I decided I would go back to stock and attempt to lock the bootloader.
This is where my phone started acting like a 7 year old child.
In download mode the screen would stay black, but when i plugged it into the computer it showed up. even in Odin the ports would show up.
So in all my infinite non wisdom I decided to blind flash. All was going well until the end where instead of "PASS" it said reboot and kept ground hog daying on me.
then the reboots stopped. and the awesome "PASS" words showed up with a green background on odin. SUCCESS...
NOT! what a tease!
I cant get into download nor recovery mode since my screen doesnt turn on. When I boot I hear the stock boot sounds etc but the screen wont turn on nor will the buttons light up.
I've read numerous reports on the S3 just black screening on people (makes me wish I kept my galaxy nexus instead)
Now before I call in for warranty (i dont believe the phone is bricked?) will it matter if my bootloader is unlocked?
in all honesty I believe this issue is from the phone and not me flashing roms etc. but most of the members on here are much brighter and more aware of these issues so I'll let you guys decide.
Anyone else hear of this issue or am I the lone ranger here?
Thanks in advance everyone :good::good::good:
UPDATE: Phone screen turns on but stays forever on the 4G LTE rave party light show boot up animation lol Merry xmas to me i guess!

Recently my wifes phone was the victim of our kids knocking over a glass of soda on top of it. I cleaned it up the best i could and did the rice bowl trick and let it sit for about 2 days. Good news is that it seems to be working again(the screen that is lol) but now it is stuck on the green downloading Do not turn off target !!!! screen. I am guessing this is her s/w updater screen for updates. It will not boot into android. She told me she didn't want me to root her phone so it's completely stock. Any ideas on how i can get past this screen to boot up android?
Update:
Looks like i'm gonna try this Method Might be the only way to save her phone and hope it boots into android.
I would ODIN the stock firmware, I am certain it has to be in the Bible (dev section).
Something like this, granted it has root:

Thanks, weird thing is when i try plugging phone into pc from that green downloading screen the screen turns off. Don't think i can use odin without the phone staying on that screen correct. If i just hold the power button i can hear the phone starting up but no display. But the display showed up fine for the downloading screen... i'm stumped.

If the com lights up yellow in Odin, you're good to go. That yellow com box assures you that Odin and your phone has made a connection.

ok thanks for that info, hopefully i can get her phone back up and running if the phone lets me lol
i just left it alone for a little bit longer tried powering on the device and now it's booting android, the display is very washed out but i'm happy enough it's just working decent enough for now. I'm gonna go ahead and root it for her just becuase i can say rooting it helped return it back to life lol
she'll be thankful either way!
Ha, brave man...

the phone is completely stock no mods or addon's to it!
im at the end of my tether.. SOME ONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
Hold volume up + power after reinserting the battery and putting it on charge. Do you enter bootloader mode? And what happens if you click recovery?
done the hold volume up and press power...
still no joy unresponsive!!
when it does work after 50 attempts of taking the battery out and putting it back in and doing volume and power
it turns on.. scroll to recovery.. it turns off google screen pops on...
then a Green android lying on his back appears with its stomach open showing white blocks and a explanation mark above it!
IM PUZZLED!!!!!
it then resets it self going back to being unresponsive!!
HELP!!!!
Give this a shot.
Also, could it be a power button issue? And that android screen is the splash for stock recovery. You have to press vol. up + power again to get past it, beyond this you can do a factory reset and similar magic. However you likely don't want this, and on the screen where you chose to enter recovery, you'll likely want to use fastboot to unlock the phone (which will wipe all personal data) and then flash a stock ROM again. At this point i would advise lots and lots of reading.
If it's less than a year old, i would be calling samsung though. If it is a new phone i would definitely do this first. Do not unlock unless you have no chance of going through warranty. Will need to know the exact status of the phone for best advice here.
Hey I have a sensation 4g. All has been well until today. I was at work and got an email. Went to check it but the screen wouldnt turn on. This has happend several times since using Viper rom, which is why I switched to energy. I pulled the battery and went to turn it back on.
Since than all I get out of it is a brief lighting of the screen followed by a boot vibration. After that the screen stays off and it "boot vibrates" at regular intervals never displaying anything. Attempts to get into the boot loader for recovery are met with the same.
If I plug a charger into it the charge indicater lights for about 15 seconds than turns off. Occasionally I can see a red light in the upper left hand corner.
I have used a htc g2 battery held against the pins as a known good battery so I have eliminated my battery as bad.
It is rooted, was running ICS Energy rom.
adb does not detect the device nor does linux or windows, but thats not too unusual since it technically doesnt turn on.
I am assuming that the thing is totally dead for whatever reason, but on the off chance someone has any ideas Im all ears, I love this phone.

Maybe it was a hardware failure. how many times does it vibrate? there is something called qualcomm diagnostic mode that htc phones sometimes get happens when the hboot gets corrputed/damaged. depending how many vibrations you get some people have had luck attempting to blind boot a pc58img.zip to the bootloader to flash a ruu. but since your phone isnt being recognised by the pc as anything i wouldnt hold out to much hope how many vibes do you get?
You might be in diag mode, as heavy_metal_man said.
Does QHSUSB_DLOAD come up in Device Manager?
neither windows nor linux recognize the device at all.
as far as the vibration. I call it a boot vibration, as it is the same intensity and duration of the normal boot vibrate you get on power up.
Its a single vibration of about one second. After that every about 30 seconds it vibrates again.
I did try to shove a P58IMG.zip onto the sd card but I figured that was a long shot anyway and of course nothing happened.
Just out of curiosity have you tired another battery? I know you did check it but one time I was charging my device with a perfectly good battery, it wasn't low, and my device made a weird noise like a high pitch noise then went black. I had no charging light, no life what so ever. I thought I was completely screwed thinking something fried my device. Out of desperation I put another fully charged battery in. Then my device sprang back to life and I haven't had any trouble since. I never figured out what happened. But I was so Glad it worked. So just for curiosity do try another battery. It can't hurt to try it. In my weird case it worked. Like I said earlier the weird part was my battery was good! Not dead! So it won't hurt to just try. You have nothing to lose. I do hope it helps. Good luck and best wishes!

sadly I have no other battery, I have a g2 battery that I can hold in as a substitute but still the same result. I will try to throw that img back on the sd card and see if I can blind install it.
Appreciate the help guys.
I have a samsung galaxy S from T-mobile, It became unresponsive and it started for no reason.
It is a locked , never rooted no firmware or software updated ever. Just had some Apps from marketplace though no new apps recently.
this is what happened. I left it for charging and the battery was dry. i gotta a call, so disconnected a/c charging and I could not swipe answer button and the phone kinda went to freeze, then screen went black. I took the phone connected for charging and after some time tried to hit power button , it starts the flash logo and t-mobile logo screen and then to the home screen which was black except for some icons in the top toolbar.
so i started again and went on like 4 times and i gotta screen like ( i think downloading screen ) . thats it . THe phone never charged or started again, I tried 3 button combos and all the basic recovery steps for this and not worked. I have been hunting for answer last couple of days before deciding to write my own thread. I am now convinced my phone is fully bricked , what should i do now?
So you think your bricked... Well good thing is your not bricked.
The information you gave us is not very clear.
I would take a guess and I would say its the battery. Replace the battery with a new one.
Got a perculiar problem with the S6. The screen suddenly went black with just the blue LED blinking in the upper left hand corner of the sreen. I am assuming the phone went off completely as I cannot access it via the PC also. I have tried all possible button combinations for reset but no luck so far.
Anyone else experience this? Did you find a fix?
Sent from my SM-G920V using XDA Free mobile app
Well the phone is not off if the blue led light is blinking, I've never had it happen to me where the phone didn't come back though. I was using an app one day (YouTube I think) and the app crashed and bugged the phone out to where the screen went black but the led was blinking. I left the phone alone after several attempts of hitting home and power to get the screen to come back on and finally I think I plugged it into the charger and it kind of just fixed it self and has not happened again. This is the scary parts of not having a removable battery.

I've got the 128GB and yes I have experienced this as well, twice! I hold down both volume buttons the home button and the power button at the same time, this will put you in maintenance mode. It'll take a couple of seconds holding those buttons but just keep them pressed. Be careful because when it does come on it comes on fast and factory reset is the second selection in that mode. The first time I did it I wiped my phone, the second time it happened I lifted my fingers fast enough not to make a selection. Give that a try and see what happens.

Sounds like you have the same problem as stated in OP. You could try doing what was recommended earlier in the thread. By the way, this is an inappropriate location to put your problem. Read the forum rules
Never rooted.
I am having the same issue. I have tried everything. Factory reset. Reboot/wiped cache and even trying to install verizon's Fireware again as it come only up to the Samsung S6 logo then goes blank. This is now my 4th replacement with Verizon and getting sick of it. How do I fix this? Odin stops at Get Pit mapping then when I do that says it can not install NAND. Using Odin 3.10.6 and 3.10.7. Tried mutli cables and restarted computer as well. This is driving me insane these phones keep doing this.
same problem except nothing comes on. no led, no reset, no computer recognition...
Same issue. Boots into and displays recovery fine and download mode. I can also bring up the safe mode menu ... just can't boot into the OS. Blue light on. I get a response in ADB when powered on, just can't enter any commands due to not being able to authorize access via phone screen.
Update:
Well as strange as it sounds, as soon as I plopped it down on the wireless charger for my S7 the screen came to life. It was at 95% battery prior to. Whatever gremlins got into the gizmos within the wireless charging apparatus seems to have caused this strange occurrence.
