[Q] bloatwares in DXKT7 stock rom?? - Samsung Galaxy Fit GT 5670

hello guys,
I am in the learning process making custom ROM from DXKT7 stock rom with dsixda kitchen, with my little knowledge about linux stuff (really little), it's still a long way for me becoming great dev like tj_style or squadzone, but still I wanna learn little by little.. I believe everyone start from n00b, but not all ended up a pro
so allow me asking a few silly n00b question,
1. I've seen many custom rom that have smaller size compare than stock rom, and thus make the performance increases.. so which app/file are safe to remove (bloatware) ? I have search the forum but didn't find the thread explaining about this..
I hope there are devs who humbly answer this question, even provide the list, I really appreciate that
2. does any app in /system/app folder has any dependency/correspondency with another file from another folder (e.g. /system/app/SamsungApp.apk with /system/framework/com.samsung.android.sec_platform_library.jar) ? does it mean if we gonna remove/replace the apk in app folder then we must also remove the file in that other folder?
3. if we gonna replace some apps (apk), does it just drag and drop or there is other thing needed to do?
pardon my silly n00b question guys, and my bad english too..I really hope there are devs who can answer my question, thanks in advance

thank u for the answer raj
1. did u mean deodexing the rom? yes I have deodexed the rom using dsixda kitchen, so the odex files no longer exist. but I want to remove other app/file that are safe to remove, so I can increase the performance of the rom and make a free space/ smaller rom size. or so to say, I want to slim down the rom. can u tell me what app u have been removed from the stock raj?
2. that's what I think, thank u for confirming raj
so now I'm gonna have to take a look at each folder
3. ok, thank u raj. +1 for u.

Making slimmer rom means deleting extra large stuffs and unwanted junk..see u can make slim stock by deleting some apps in system/app lyk i said before youtube, email, samsung app & new twlauncher by replacing stock..then delete unwanted ringtones etc.. u r done mine rom is jsr 110mb..dats slim at initial basis..i will improve it..

Ok let me get into this straight deleting a couple of apps and slimming it down won't increase the performance..if you still want some Samsung apps and Google apps... And for performance its all about a good kernel.... Ya some apps have dependencies.. Like gtalk needs few location and network based libs and jar files to work any doubts.?? I post a reply I will be happy to help you out...

so it means to improve the performance of stock-rom based, we gotta improve the kernel, not deleting the file (and here I thought it will increase available memory/ram because some services is not there anymore :silly: ). but it nice to have cyanmobile maintainer answered this n00b question, thank u, +1 for u
I'm learning how to compile the kernel and add some features, but still it's a looong way for me to go. not kernel yet. I think I shall try with wilfred007. just replace the boot.img right? or should I extract it with dsixda's kitchen and just take the zimage?
edit : I tried replacing boot.img and flashed it.. bootlooooppp.. is it update script? but when I repacked it with dsixda it says no error found.. am I missing something here?

no need to repack unpack... just change the boot.img... as far as the kernel goes.. the less is the size of zimage the more is its performance...
in order to get a good kernel strip unncessary stuff from it.... i could provide a nice way to go about learning kernels..start with a bit of c..then read the zcop thread atleast twice(no copy pasting) understand what each code does...then look through github commits of higher devs...
and dont call yourself a noob a newbie would be better...

[CUSTOM ROM] "THE BLUE" by ABHI uploaded.....finally

hey everyone.
see the screenshots...
due to demand of my rom and people liking it, i had to upload its files here..
though was not able to make the rom.
hope you like my work..
changes:
1. well everything from a to z in looks changes......
2. REBOOT OPTION IN POWER MENU
finally its done i have added reboot to power menu and its working great..
just trying also to add recovery and download options.. cheers
here is the rom: DOWNLOAD:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5K29G62U
the blue rom is uploaded.....
please follow instructions...
1. these are deodexed apps so use them in deodexed rom only, [though some apps can be used in non deodexed rom also , but try at your own risk..
well the max that can happen is that the phone wont go past samsung logo, but still be flashable]
2.the folder system app contains the files that needs to be transferred to system>app folder using root explorer.
3. the folder system framework contains files that needs to be transferred to system>framework folder using root explorer.
4. data local has the bootanimation of nexus one so transfer it to data>local folder by root explorer.
BUGS:
has one bug as far as i know
1.during making call to someone the phone app shows that it stopped working and prompts you to force close. just dont force close carry on with your call , you wont have any prob..
if it bothers you dont replace the original phone app..(i.e. dont use mine if it bothers you)
rest all is fine.
* i havent really tested the android policy.jar file in system framework folder.
for reboot option . after i just made a change as said by lestat....
so try it.. if it doesnt work, then remove the file and place the android policy.jar original file..
*i am not responsible if you brick your phone
it worked for me very well
the notification bar looks are not like the one in screenshot..
i dont hav ethe phone so cant take screenshot now...

very nice rom/theme it is based on...? JPA? how did you cooked it?
Looks nice but I think that DIAL PAD has poor visibility - try with darker colour.

tried like 10 times to add reboot, recovery and download options to the power menu....
but i dont get it where the hell i am mistaking.....
anybody help please????
finaly someone is doing some modding on i5800! cheers!
well i have reached much ahead of this.............
i have added many codes to the system files in order to add reboot, recovery, download options......
RESULT:
1. no reboot/rec./download options
2. but the phone shutdown and startup time was reduced considerably....(accidental finding i suppose )
Any other advantages or is your rom just about the look?
Deodexed? Pre-Rooted? Changes in Filesystem?
On what FW is it based? What kernel is in use?
What's the source?
Changelist?
Its looks cool
what are the advantages pal and is this ROM only for LOOKS?
Can you please include the advantages
Good Job pal we all appretiate your work.
A suggestion:
Blue icons for the notification bar?
hmm you added reboot option in power menu!!! thats great!
i hope that one day programmers like The Dark Lestat, Gsam101, abhi0n0nakul, motafoca, apollo5801 and others (sorry if i didn't mention someone) unite, combine their knowledge and create something perfect for our i5800...

[APP][MOD] (not so) Faster (and buggy) TouchWiz Launcher [XXLE4]

I saw a lot of comments about how slow the new TouchWiz launcher is, so, because I had already downloaded the ROM, I want to try something.
I'm not using this ROM, so I don't know if it works, let me know.
This is the new launcher, don't be fooled by its name, that's how Samsung named it.
It should be uglier than the unmodded one, but it should be as ugly as the one from Gingerbread, unless Samsung used more transparencies and fancy shades this time (transparent widget should be affected by this change too). Here the explanation.
_______________
Downloads in the next post.
Note:
If you are not familiar with adb, I suggest you to install an alternative launcher first, then copy /system/app/TouchWiz30Launcher.apk somewhere safe, for example in your SD card. In this way, if something goes wrong, you can always start the second launcher and restore TouchWiz30Launcher.apk with a file manager.
At least until someone tries the two zips to restore the unmodded launcher.
No launcher, no way to launch apps

Downloads [apk + flashable files]
There are 4 flashable zips, two of them restore the original TouchWiz launcher.
Read the name of the file, fasterTouchwiz-odexed.zip obviously is for odexed, fasterTouchwiz-deodexed.zip for deodexed.

(the only one I'm sure it will work is fasterTouchwiz-odexed-restore.zip)
(and BTW this is the launcher from XXLE4)

Well I just flashed the deodexed file, and apply with CW and working EXCELENT!!! Good job my friend!!!.
I have the Clean Rom by Luiseteyo V3.1.... So now I have 2 lanchers!!!!.....
Thks very much!!!!
Edit: Its no smooth as the holo launcher but work very very fast....
I tried on xxkpq. But force closes.
I really don't know how this new TouchWiz launcher is, anyway, I explain what I did in this mod.
(I wanted to know first if this really changes something)
Basically this new TouchWiz launcher uses 32bit transparency, or at least that's what I can see decompiling it:
Code:
<bool name="config_force32BitWindowAlways">true</bool>
What I did was to put that boolean value to false.
32bit transparency makes everything better too look, but it also slow down the UI. Without it, you should see some bands in trasparent backgrounds, it's the little price to pay to have a smoother interface. (In Gingerbread the default setting is 16bit, so you should see these bands)
@vishal
I think there are too many differences. Samsung apps use their own framework (twframework-res.apk) and probably this launcher needs the new framework. I don't think you can simply replace it with the new one. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know anything of this ROM.
Anyway, if you want to see how much this little change can do, you can enable 32bit transparency in GO launcher (it's somewhere in the settings, I can't remember exactly where, maybe it's called "high quality drawing". It's not the same thing, because they are two different launchers).
@machotecba
Thanks for trying this. I'm glad to hear that it works.
TouchWiz30Launcher? Wasn't it TouchWiz4? Will test right now. Thanks for ur work
I tried this in and there seems to be a lot of performance increase.... As always, your mods are simply incredible...

I don't think I'll do it now, maybe in the future. I did this one simply because it was fast and easy to apply.
If you want to try again, here I posted the links of some tutorials.
Anyway I think that sooner or later these mods will be ported to this ROM and if I'm not wrong, someone had already ported something, I can't remember where are the links, maybe in XXLE4 thread.
Hey losnosc!! I am using the tested 'n' worked version, but i have a little issue: when press home, the screen goes black during a 500 msecs and then goes desktop. It's normal??

Tested, but not by me
I think that the problem is that there's a transition application->desktop that does a large use of transparencies and because of the 16bit what should be semi-transparent is solid.
It's just a guess, I flashed this ROM for 5 minutes just to fix the WIFI, I didn't even try this mod.
If that's the problem, I could change this behaviour.
So let's try something (this one too is a guess, I don't know if it works or if I changed the correct thing): fasterTouchwiz-experiment-deodexed.zip
(flash the old zip in case of problems)
___
EDIT: Samsung could have at least changed this
Code:
const-string v0, "GT-I9000"
with Cm9 there in no reason to use samsung roms!

META-INF for TWRP

Hey guys! As you may know... The latest OMNI ROM 4.4.2 by Team Canjica runs on TWRP.. and many CWM Mods and zips is not able to be flash due to some error ( idk) Hence I extract META-INF from a TWRP Zip by Tesla.. his task manager zip... which works beautifully by replacing the META-INF of the zip you want with the META-INF extracted in the download section below
Please hit the Thanks Button ! It's FREE DD
P.S. Extract the META-INF from the zip below
I think that this thread has nosense. That META-INF from Omni task manager is the same as other task managers, no changes inside except line that says for what ROM is.

I really appreciate the fact that you took notice of my humble post The root of this post was because of a mod I used.. hopefully you know about Pure Audio 2.0 Golden Edition! It uses a different META-INF which does not allow me to install it.. Although the recovery state that it is installed... the files in the /system/lib and /system/bin were not there.... and I really enjoy the fantastic sound. So I installed you task manager and it worked fine... so curiously I extracted the META_INF in hopes that it is some META-INF error and paste into the pure-audio mod! It works! :fingers-crossed:
So I spreaded this news around... I know this may be a Junior Member speaking but I really hope you would not say that this is nonsense as it really insulted me a little... If it really were nonsense I would have gladly not post it up... As you can see from my post history.. I don't post nonsensical stuff.... I don't know much about developing or building from source and you were my IDOL! But I really hope you could give me a little respect for me I do not mean any insult but hope you can continue supporting the device

Maybe it is the googlemeta from META-INF/COM/android/metadata I do not know exactly what is it but you can try flashing the Pure audio mod with the unedited meta-inf and the one extracted from the task manager zip.... The purpose was also for some senior to teach me what is the cause of it. I know I am inexperienced hence I really would hope someone could prove me wrong and let me learn

My thinking is that someone who made flashable zip forgot to write code to mount some partition that was needed and in CWM it was mounted by default and in TWRP was not. I am not 100% sure that is the case, but I am 99%.

[MOD]SuperuserMod for LP

Hi guys,
I spent many hours in searching for this mod with no success (not a fan of Xposed) so I decided, after I made work on Lollipop, to share it with you!
Please note:
this mod doesn't support opengl fix nor script to remove dex file but it is intended to use it with odexed rom anyway. I have no plans to continue developing it so use with caution. If you mess something you can flash the original services whis is found in post #7.
Instructions:
1. just in case, create a backup of your current services.jar (located in system>framework )
2. flash using recovery
3. done!
Apart from the lack of opengl fix I haven't found any other bugs yet, it seems to be working just fine. If you discover a bug or error that has something to do with this mod, I'd be glad to help you out
Odex or Deodex?

Thanks for your guide! I really didn't know about the OpenGL bug so i'll take that into account. Honestly I spent quite a time into searching and wouldn't post this mod if I had found one already.
@geabeack, it is for deodexed, that's why it doesn't have an odex-removing script. I also have no plans to further develop this mod, just wanted to post so there's one, but it seems there are a few already.

Here you go, you just need to flash it.
If he want to get back to stock he needs also the services.odex inside the framework/arm folder.

Quick Odex vs Deodex Question

I've recently gotten into Android Development and I am thinking of getting into (or attempting to) ROM development. For starters, my main question here is:
What is the difference between the two in the modding sense? I understand Odex is harder to theme, but does this also cause problems in mods like the 5-reboot options mod or the surround sound mod?
If so, is this limited to all mods of any kind and why do these errors occur?
I am not asking for flamers or sarcastic responses. I need a serious answer as I am seriously hoping to start spending my free time with development wherever possible.
Thanks for your time!
I'm just a user and not a developer, but as far as the surround sound mod, I don't think those files are odexed even in the OEM stock ROM, so I don't think it matters. I believe odexed files are only in /system/app and /system/framework, so perhaps any mods to files in other places don't care if you're odexed or deodexed..

Thanks for the response! I'm pretty sure you're right about that.

Also, it seems like sometimes you can use a deodexed file even if the rest are odexed...... as long as you remove all the pieces of the odex file and replace it with the deodexed one. I've done it in the past anyway, pre-lollipop.
Well for you and everyone else the roms are de odexed this way u can use tools to decompile the dex files. Anything java related is inside the dex files the rest for the most part is xml configuration and image . For themes you might get away with xml modifications but some tweaks even some colors are in Java.
