apk's install without user confirmation. - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Out of nowhere today I installed an apk and somehow it didn't ask for permission to install or cancel. at the Notification bar there is a message that says: ES APP MANAGER and the icon is two gears, the apk installs automatically and there is not window asking for permission. All subsequent apk's install this way. very dangerous.
How do I troubleshoot this issue? .. I went to tablet settings applications (ICS 4.0.3) and I don't see any app with that above name.
Help is appreciated, regards.
EDIT. Found the culprit. it's the new version of ES File Explorer 1.6.2.4.a

When you clear data or switch to a new rom. And when you log into your google account, all the apps that you used will be synced by google and gets installed...

Unknown sources or /system/app
To avoid unknown app installs from links etc., Go to Settings -> Security -> uncheck the Unknown Sources.
If you are using a rooted device, you may have pushed an apk into /system/app which can install and delete apps from your device without your permission.

[Q] Installing .apk in CM7 on SGS2

Ok, so I have spent the last week searching for an answer to this problem, and I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out and others who may have similar problems.
With a rooted SGS2 and stable CM7 rom, I wanted to install the stock messaging app as I liked the "bubble" GUI better. Further, I found a copy of a camera app with higher bitrates/other improvements that I wanted to install as well. but every time I install them, I get "application not installed" with a check mark.
My method was:
Checked to install apps from unknown sources
Uninstalling old app (after backup)
Copying new apps to system/app to replace
Using root explorer in r/w to install them (didnt work)
So then tried:
Signing the apps using Signaptik/Zipsigner
Changing permissions to same as stock apps
It seems nothing that I try to install in system/app will install. Actually, any of these apps, no matter their location, will not install. Why is this? I'd really like the better camera app and my old mms.apk back!
Cheers!
------EDIT------
The camera.apk I want to install was built for SGS2, the mms.apk I wanted to install is stock from sgs2
Enable non-market apk installation.
Go to Settings – Applications – tick the “Unknown Sources” checkbox at the very top. Accept the warning which pops up by tapping on OK.
If you downloaded the file on PC, transfer it to phone.(sd card)
Open the file explorer (if you don’t have one, download any file manager from the android market) and browse to the location where you’d transferred the file.
Tap on the file to install it.
They won't install because they have dependency on a framework or application that does not exist in CM7.
Try installing them with ADB
adb install <apkname>
It will give you the full error message.

[Q] How install deleted system app?

Hello,
I know there're many topics with this question, but I tried everything what people said and nothing works.
I use sgs2, android 4.0.3(XXLPW, rooted), use debugging is enabled.
When I push app to /system/app and set right permissions, application after reboot doesn't appear in drawer,
Sorry, I know my English isn't too good.
Can anyone help me? Maybe I am doing something wrong?
See if the app name has any spaces...
Like (for eg only) : if its "touch wiz.apk", rename it to "touchwiz.apk"
And also check if you have mounted /system as r/w...
Typed using a small touchscreen
I know how UNIXs works, app name is ClockPackage.apk, there isn't any white spaces.
Any app after push to /system/app and set right permissions, doesn't appear in drawer.
I think clockpackage is a widget?
Check, whether after the reboot, the package is still present in /system/app...

Or it is just not compatible with your device/rom

it isn't widget, but "clock 1.0"
and it's compatible with my rom, because it's from my rom xd
Try this.Keep it in system/app but also install the apk normally via terminal or file manager because maybe it has to make some data files

topic can be closed, I install new rom.

I'm using the same version of es and I noticed this too.
I still get the dialogue sometimes though depending on the apk.

I went back to version 1.6.2.2 and disabled automatic update in settings for this apk and it's working fine. I will see if another update past v 1.6.2.4 will work again.

Problem with Play Store

I seem to be having a problem with the play store - seems i can't install/update any of my apps - I'm getting an error - "Unknown error code during application installation: "-110" "
I have tried removing the cache etc from the application menu but it doesn't make any difference. I have tried re installing an APK to the system/app folder, but that didn't help either.
I'm at a bit of a loss
I have the same problem too.

try clear app data... is ur play store version up to date? maybe ur playstore is trying to update itself while u try to download an app... try leaving the playstore running ... and connected to internet for abt 30 minutes....
or install the latest apk urself...

sometimes this error is for upgrading an app because of same directory
check android > data > ... name of app package u wanna install. if there s something similar to the app delete it.
@3rdstring
an error that related to unknown source setting will appear before installation process.
in this situation he can go throw the installation process but cannot complete it.
