Matte finish case - Nexus 4 Accessories

Has anyone used this one ? any reviews ?
ebay item=261142980675
Sorry cant post links yet!

Haven't used it, no.
I'm not sure I like the look of that brushed finish.
It's also worth noting that silicon will be harder than TPU and (in my opinion) less nice to the touch.

Thanks! they seem to have a soft gel version too but that might attract lot of dust!

TPU cases might attract some dust - but I don't think noticeably more than a silicon case.
Although both types will undoubtedly gather dust between the screen and case edges.
You should try something like the Diztronic TPU case. It has great reviews, a matte finish and is relatively inexpensive.

Adding More Grip

Hey all,
Has anyone tried roughing the back of their phone a little bit? I'm trying to think of something to give it a bit more texture and grip. I do have a case for my phone but I really like the feeling and look of the phone naked.
Any thoughts?
Rubberized back cover?

Try one of the Rock Quicksand cases. It is very slim, only covers the back and sides, adds minimal bulk, and much more grip. I've been very happy with mine.

Agreed 100%, I LOVE my black Quicksand case (blue phone)
The grip that case gives you is awesome.

I bet that would work if you really don't want a case
Cruzer Lite's cases aren't too bad either. They don't add much to the thickness of the device and they are reasonably good to look at. However, if I could use my phone without a case and be confident of not scratching/dropping it, I'd go that route.
Another vote for Rock Quicksand...love mine. :good: The phone actually feels too small when I take it off now. And way too slick.
Using the Rearth Ringke Slim case and has a really nice feel to it, and it's super thin.

That case is almost identical to the Rock Quicksand, but the Rock gives you a much better grip than the Rearth.

Can you post a couple of pictures? I have ever the sgp ultra thin and I live it but it is still a Little slippery. But I don't want anything much thicker than the sgp

I just got the official Samsung Cool Vent case, and I love it. It's a rubber-y plastic that gives the phone great grip, and you can stick a coin (or two credit cards) in the back for an impromptu kickstand. It covers the back and front/bottom, rather than the sides, so it doesn't cover the volume/power buttons and doesn't make the phone any wider. The only con is that the bump on the back prevents the phone from laying totally flat on a table, which bothers some people, i think it's fine. The bump also gives you something to grip with your fingers.

Picked it up from MobileFun.com, seems there aren't many places yet selling it in the US.
Rock Quicksand case is absolutely amazing!
For $10 I wasn't expecting much; but immediately when I opened up the packaging I was impressed. The case feels rock solid, and barely adds any weight to the phone.
However, if you are looking for full protection this case is definitely not for you.
I don't want to make myself sound old (I am only 22), but I'm at the stage in my life that I can be fairly confident that I will not drop the phone and will not be entering any situations (ie., jumping off my bike into the woods) that I will not be able prepare for and take extra precautions with the phone.

The Rearth & the Rock Quicksand are almost identical except the texture of the Quicksand gives it the best grip of any case available.

+1. Just enough grip yet it slides easily into and out of my pocket.
I bought a sheet of this eGrips stuff and cut it custom for every device that i don't want to use a full case on. One side is adhesive and the other side is the grippy side that you hold. egrips

that was my idea too! if one would prefer to run a naked phone you could get one of those clear body skins....the ones that are like the screen protector material but they cover the back cover and sides too, and then see if skateboard grip tape will stick to that stuff, giving you extremely minimal protection with maximum grip and would be thinner than any case like the Rock or other slim cases and less noticeable too, that way if you dont like it you simply peel the skin off since the grip tape is stuck to it, not your phone
Soda blasting or glass beading it would give it a uniform rough finish with soda being smoother and glass being rougher.

slimmest case

Whats the slimmest case you guys have came across...all I basically want is scratch protection.
I dont like cases, but always try to find the slimmest one possible...for instance, totalle makes a case for the iphone called the scarf thats paper thin.
any comments will be appreciated.
thanks
I bought the adopted one and awaiting the spigen case for the 6P. I think if you want thin, the Google case/Adopted case will probably work best for you. It is really thin and makes the case more grippy although I have heard that some cases may block the laser autofocus on the camera. Ringke also offers a very thin case but I've only had it for my Xperia. If you are patient, wait a month and there should be some more detailed reviews on the cases. If not, out of the available cases, the Google ones seem to be the most popular thin cases. Wish you the best in your search.
Get a skin. Slickwraps has them for $10 and you can use "xda" for a discount code.

I too bought the Adopted case from google but it is not a slim case. it adds bulk so i'm looking for a new slim case. Thinking of getting one of these
http://www.amazon.com/Google-Huawei...&qid=1447104935&sr=1-1&keywords=nexus+6p+slim
http://www.amazon.com/DGtle-Anti-Sc...&qid=1447104935&sr=1-2&keywords=nexus+6p+slim
Try J&D tpu case from Amazon. I got it and its much thinner than I expected.
Can anybody comment on the J&D case vs Diztronic, Tudia, DGtle? If J&D truly is thinner than those, then I'll grab one as well.
Another slim one is the Tudia case on Amazon.
Im also looking for a super slim case. Something like an Orzly FlexiSlim (I hope they make it for the 6p, they did one for the 2014 Nexus 6) or a Caufabe Veil XT. Something .0.3mm or 0.5mm thin with a soft semitransparent finish. Has anyone found anything?
If you're going with the skin option, definitely go with dbrand, way better quality.

Agreed there on skins. If I go skin, I *always* go dbrand.
If you want something more than traditional TPU then the Verus case is a good option. It's the thinnest non-TPU case I've ever had for a phone (well, aside from the super thin hard plastic that always cracks after 3 weeks).
I went with this slim case from Kugi: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014ZJ0538
Thin enough for my liking (doesnt really add too much more to the phone), there are cutaways for the buttons (no actual rubber material on the buttons like the adopted case), and the top and bottom of the case are left open so you dont have to worry about a charger or headphone adapter being too big. And it's cheap.

I ordered and received one of these in gold. It does have a soft touch finish, but at the same time seems to show fingerprint smudges. It is pretty thin, although not as thin as the 0.01 inch or 0.35 mm type cases that are available for other phones. The overall finish/quality of is also somewhat cheap with the cutout for the camera assembly showing leftover plastic. It'll do for now.
You could go with a dBrand skin, or a Spigen Thin Fit or the IMAK case. Those look like the thinnest cases for the 6P so far.

Ah yeah, looks like you may have got a little unlucky with that cutout. I just double checked my cutouts and edges and can say mine look pretty clean cut. I do agree with the fingerprint smudges too, but oil on a matte finish (I went with matte black) is a bit expected so I cant complain too much about that.

Yes. Look at drop video. It should be pretty resilient to scuffs
cases ruin phone's beauty, use only tempered glass.
Reviews out today mentioned the materials are a little slippery. Android Authority reviewer said he dropped it a few times because of the slippery feel and The Verge said it's borderline slippery.
I was going to go no case on this but if it's not very grippy, I want at least a bumper to help with grip. I wouldn't mind even some kind of adhesive skin for the sides to help with grip.

dbrand has skins on pre-order. Just saw a little while ago. I think I'll go this route, but I'd rather see for myself how this feels in the hand first.
I like dbrand but A) very slow shipping and B) not as much variety as SW. SW innovates on the materials a lot more.

Would be a constructive comment if SW had any skins for the essential phone dbrand is our only option atm.
I'd love an olephobic coated tempered glass piece to go on the back. Much like a screen protector, but for the back to give extra grip over the ceramic, help resist fingerprints even though it's glass, but have cutouts for the accessories and such. The glass should be thin enough not to interfere with putting accessories on
I have a Mi Mix witch is very similar build being that is ceramic and and I actually think opposite of reviews that said the Mix is slippery. I find the material sticks to my hands. Maybe I'm just really sweaty or something lol. I'm not worried about slippery in the slightest
I really want some sort of back skin. I don't like the bright or flashy stuff. I think dbrand black titanium would look great on it but I think it's kind of slippery because the texture is vertical only. I tried black dragon on another phone and found it no grippier than any other skin. I just really want grip and to avoid smudges. No one has a clear film skin yet either. But maybe a matte one of those would help. Anyone find anything?

I sent an email to Spigen to ask about tempered glass screen protector and the possibility of a case and maybe a tempered glass back. They havent responded, but I doubt they will since I am pretty sure they will be boycotting making anything for this phone due to thier trying to get a cease and desist against the entire Essential company, phone included.

What are the best cases for the red OP6?

Hi all, I bought the red OP6 a couple of weeks ago and have been using the clear case that was included. I have some mixed feelings about it, the positives for me are the raised corners to protect the screen (I just wish they would have done something similar for the camera), all buttons work perfectly and is clear to show off the amazing red color. I just have one negative issue which for me is very annoying, just at the middle in the back it sticks to the phone like if it is wet, which looks very bad, and creates the rainbow effect to the sides. So with this in mind, I am looking for a new case which hopefully doesn't have this issue.
Which would be the most recommended? And if any of you are using them please post some pics, I can´t seem to find any of the red OP6 in a case.
Thanks guys!

There are little nubs on each corner of the Ringke to prevent it from hitting the desk or table when you put it down which eliminates a lot of the scratching. I used mine for a week and don't see any scratches in it. In the second to last photo the Orzly is on the left and Ringke is on the right. The last photos is the Ringke on the phone.
I have the Ringke clear also *I'm kind of a horder with cases lol* and because of the back being such a hard plastic it has grazes all over it. Dunno if its from being in the pocket with something else or whatever really. Also the cut out for the volume notch is totally off placement. I just can't find one that I'm like wow awesome atm. Although the Spigen case is pretty dam good but I have a dbrand skin on and it isn't a clear case unfortunately as you also would like. Would you consider a bumper case like Rhinoshields? I am awaiting mine to try out.

The Rhinoshield looks similar to the Orzly. I'm also a case hoarder and have 7 cases for the OP6. Every time a new one comes out that looks good I buy it. So far the Orzly is my favorite.
i dont think you should use a case on a red oneplus but no doubt the official red case is nice but my most used case if the nylon case which is so damn perfect... looks nice but also adds lots of grip and protection

Would not recommend it. I bought it, and the back doesn't sit close enough to the phone. At the camera cut-out there is about 1-2mm of space between the back of the case and the phone. If u don't have any skin on it you will scratch the back of your phone from all the dust and partials that can get through it.
Recommend these for the RED OP6. I own the first one.
# Good Quality. Fits well.
# Rubberised in and out.
# No room on the inside to cause scratches.
# Transparent Back.
# Decent lip on the front. Not the best raise, but certainly helps when flipping the phone over without having the screen touch the surface. Might be a problem for phone with a tempered glass. Check comments on Amazon for more info.

Thanks for the feedback, I too heard that the scratches in the Ringke came from evryday use and just having it in your pocket, whic is what worries me.
I do want to try the Rhinoshields bumper, I had one in my iPhone and an S7 and really liked them, but I am not sure how it would look since there is only black or white, and I think it takes away from the red phone aesthetics.
The Supcase might be the one, it looks pretty cool, except maybe for the black bumper. If ti were red or clear it would be a total winner.

What leather or fabric cases are you using?

Already have a sandstone feel case from Krusell, which I love. Although they also have a leather case also, it seems too bulky. This being the most expenaive phone I ever bought I want the cases to feel nice in the hand, not rubbery or plasticky. Tried a dbrand skin, but I still felt anxious every time I layed the phone down and would place it ever so gently.
So, anyone got some leather or fabric cases they had nice experience with?
fitbag, amazon, best ones, comes in leather and fabic and I have used both, awesome.
Agree, look at fitbag...
dont spend $25 on fitbag, use an oakley sunglasses sleeve for like $6 and it is the exact same thing

But what about the difference in THICKNESS? The sleeve for my Oakley's are quite thin and don't offer much protection. The fitbag's, on the other hand, don't seem to be in stock so I can't even test the differences yet.
I have a canvas case, it feels very good.
In absence of the official alcantara case I spent hours looking for a leather case, found krusell and ordered leather and sandstone, now waiting for them to arrive... Looks like screen is not protected though in both.. Was hoping the leather krusell was a good replacement so shame to read it is bulky.
Fitbag look nice but rather not have a sleeve case as tend to use my phone a lot and don't want to remove it every time with 2 hands.
Why Samsung don't make premium leather cases like the iPhone cases with a nice small lip at the front I will never understand

Fitbag look nice but rather not have a sleeve case as tend to use my phone a lot and don't want to remove it every time with 2 hands.
Why Samsung don't make premium leather cases like the iPhone cases with a nice small lip at the front I will never understand

After I bought the sandstone from krusell, I also bought their leather one. Don't know if mine was defective or not, but the band that's glued on the margines of the case came off on one side. It's a real shame, cause it really felt great in the hand. I'm still considering if I should give it another shot and buy one more.

I saw someone else on amazon Germany had that issue too, if its a design fault it should be covered under their lifetime warranty

Why did you stop using the sandstone case? I see it has no screen lip whatsoever which is one downside..

I didn't stop. I use(d) both. The sandstone is really thin and has a nice grip. The lack of a lip is not an issue for me, since I never put the phone screen down.
Thanks.. Look forward to receiving mine, I don't want to install a screen protector as they all seem to have issues so a small lip would be great
If the leather case has the same issue you have I'll be claiming on warranty

Just to update you. I bought another leather case from Krusell. And this one feel just as great as the first one but it feels alot more solid. I see no deterioration as the first one had.

Thanks. I received mine too, although have stuck with the sandstone case as prefer the slimline fit and how grippy it is. Leather case from krussel I find quite slippy in the hand.
