Help please. No voice or sms but I do have data - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I just flashed the 12/20 version of cm 10.1 without reading the caveat that there was no data. So after realizing my mistake I went back to a nandroid I had of jelly wiz. I thought all was well as my email Facebook etc worked. I checked my idea number and phone number and that was correct, however I am now unable to use anything but the 4G network. ie I have no voice service.
Can some one please help me as it's driving me to distraction trying to find ways to fix it
I just looked and now it's showing me as not having my phone number correct it has a number of zeros and a 4digit number. The imei number still shows as correct though.

If you want cm10.1, flash an unofficial build, settings > mobile settings > CDMA subscription > ruim/sim, toggle airplane mode.

Just got back into cell phone range. Thanks for the info. I flashed an unofficial cm10.1 build. And did what was suggested. Thankfully I now have a fully working phone again. However beware that some of your data maybee lost. I'm not sure why. I think it is due to the way android 4.2 deals with multiple users. Make sure you back up all data off your device. A backup with titanium did not work for some apps, the XDA developer app amongst them btw.

I'm going to go overboard and deep NOOB, and ask if i have restored to stock, and still have this issue, do I need to re-root and then flash CM10.1 to get the radio portion working again?
Once i have it working correctly, how do I flash a different ROM {AOKP} to prevent this from happening again?

Yea I'm pretty much in the same boot as the guy above me. Flashed cm10.1 and had no data and whatnot. And then flashed galaxy mod 11 and now have no voice or text but do have data. So I Odin back to stock root66 like a lot of people suggested. But still have no voice or text. Imei is good ERL is good. So I have no clue what is the next step to take. Any suggestions?

Once you Odin to stock VRALF2 or VRALG1 rom, enter the dialer code (pretty sure this formats internal storage)

Any reason for turning on airplane mode? Or was that to avoid an OTA prompt after Odin flashing ICS root66?

Snoop they got someone in another thread saying they fixed with airplane mode. We got hundreds of these threads. It is a worldwide pandemic. If they don't want to listen leave it. Just send them to 10.1 thread the fix is there.

I have this same problem, but it happened to me after I had lost my IMEI and then manually injected it myself. I've ready tried reprovisioning about 3 times, but to no avail. I didn't do anything with the IMEI except back it up using the terminal emulator and the "reboot nvbackup" command. Not even sure if it did anything or not. How do you reprovision the phone? What does that even [claim to] do? A google search shows a lot of people complaining about this. I hope someone comes along and helps too.

If you reprovision, it will wipe all your data and such. Idk if you wanna try it. I only tried it because someone suggested it, but it was pointless. So, if you were gonna try that, you would want to nandroid backup first. The way to reprovision if you're interested is dial *2767*3855# that'll do the trick for you. I hope someone comes along to help as well. After a while some fix usually comes around. Just gotta be patient sometimes

Interesting. I wonder what the reprovisioning actually does. I didn't flash CWM yet since I'm running the stock bootloader, and it is locked. I heard that unlocking the bootloader can cause trouble if an OTA update changes things on it.

I would suggest that you just download ROM Manager from the app store, open it up, and at the very top it will say flash clockwork mod recovery. Hit that and it should be a done deal. Let me know if you have any problems

About data/signal issue, that's not your IMEI. It more than likely is your sim card. I had to get 2 replacements from Verizon due to a weak signal. Another simple thing to try is to be sure data roaming is ON in the settings menu, and restart. That is known to work. Rooting prob did not cause this to happen, the S3 has signal issues to begin with. Do not start running scripts to attempt to fix without going through the verizon fixes first. Stay on stock rom, hide your root apps and bring in to get sim card. They won't check for root.
Plan B is to call *611 and speak to someone, they can push a signal code through to fix. Don't say your rooted!

Oh but we shall see what happens when I change towers. To compare, and diagnose this issue, how is your phone setup. Mine is as follows:
Purchased at: Small business authorized reseller
Contract: On contract
Purchase date: 9/5/12 (opened a new account, not adding a line)
OS/ROM: Stock 4.0.4
Rooted: Yes
Bootloader: Locked (had it unlocked temporarily to see if I could do it, but I relocked it to diagnose the data issue)
Recovery: CWM
ICS Encryption: Not turned on (I don't think I can use it now that I have CWM installed anyway)
Apps that run at boot: Call Recorder by Skvalex
Root apps installed: SuperUser (duh), Rom Manager, CallRecorder, Terminal Emulator (used it to execute "reboot nvbackup" as a supposed IMEI backup method)

So far all I've done is "reboot nvbackup" to supposedly backup my IMEI, but I have no idea if it did anything. I'll double check data roaming, but I don't want to rack up a roaming bill. Also I don't have to worry about my store finding out if I root. The sales guy helped me root it before I even paid for it.
The guy I dealt with helped with root questions for me too at actually vzw store... Funny! Sim should do the trick. And yes, that script you ran backed your IMEI correctly, so it's not that. Data roaming is to see if it improves issue, if it does, your having network issues that are not phone related. There is no reason to keep that option on unless your lost in the woods and need data!

Do you still have your IMEI? Is your phone number wrong?
If you don't have your IMEI, you'll need to fix it. You'll find some links in Android Development or Original Android Dev here.
If your phone number is wrong, you'll need to reboot a few times.
If your phone number is right, and so is your IMEI, try the phone info app via wifi if possible.
If your phone # and IMEI are right and you can't get phone info, back up anything on your internal SD card and dial *2767*3855# on a stock ROM. It will wipe your phone and should fix the problem.
Found the *27 thingies in another thread

But to be nice do this if you are still on CM10.1....

If you are back on a TW rom then use odin and flash the F2 stock image then type this in a dialer...
Code:
*2767*3855#
That reprovision code will not work on JB or later ICS builds. It was removed due to a exploit, hence why having to flash a early ICS build.
Ya sorry I flashed back to tw. But then read down the forums and found an answer. I just flashed cm without gapps and changed the nv thing to sim or whatever. I didn't have to use odin. Thanks anyway

No signal

I just flashed CleanROM on my S3, and now I have no signal, and when I do I cant make or receive calls or anything.
I flashed it on my brothers phone before doing it to mine a day before, and his works wonderfully. Should I just give the phone a day? If so, and it doesn't work by tomorrow should I simply flash a new radio or reflash CleanROM?
Check under settings> more settings> mobile networks. You should be set to global setting. If it already is set that way, switch to gsm of CDMA and the switch back to global. That should do it. And obviously make sure your not in airplane mode, sync is on, mobile data enabled, ect.

Well first your going to have to Odin back to the 4.0.4 stock G1 http://goo.im/devs/invisiblek/i535/C...w_ship.tar.zip
Then follow this following guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31051731

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29462348
You do have to re provision on the G1 4.0.5 as it this one only has the menu.
After all is good please you back up your imei just in case something goes wrong again a d to your friend to whoever you flashed the cleanrom for, back theirs up as well.

Of course not. Go figure. I backed up the phone I did it on originally, and didn't need to. Decided the process went so smoothly I wouldn't worry about backing this other phone up, and what do you know I should have. Just my luck. Anyway, I'll try to follow the directions IMEI repair tool. Hopefully this will go smoothly.

Way ahead of you. Got it backed up with 4.0.4. Thanks for your help and patience man. You get a thanks from me.
Also, I think it should be noted for everyone else that after flashing back to stock 4.0.4, you can save yourself a lot of drama by using that code. Also, you do get stuck into a boot loop when reverting back(I and many others did that I read), simply boot into recovery(yes stock recovery) and do a full wipe. This is probably mentioned somewhere though.
