[APP][2.1+]Strobily v1.1.2 - a strobe light \ stroboscope [Updated 1-31-13] - Android Apps and Games

I've held out on posting this app here for 6 months so that I could make sure I give you guys the best app possible. Here's the market description, and enjoy.

The first legitimate strobe light / stroboscope app for Android. This app allows you to flash your flashlight or your screen at whatever frequency you choose.
Features include:
- Flashing frequency adjustable from .05Hz to 100Hz in .05Hz increments
- Adjustable duty cycle (ON/OFF proportion)
- Optional RPM units as well as multiplier
- Torch mode
- Continues to flash even if screen is off
- Adjustments specifically for use as as stroboscope
- Burst mode
- Adjustable screen flash colors
I made this app after searching the market for a strobe light that I could fine tune. Most of the other apps either only flash the screen or simply give a slider that changes the flashing frequency in an unknown fashion. This app allows very precise control over the strobe light and is accurate enough to approximate the RPMs of a spinning fan or a turntable just like a stroboscope. You can even slow the strobe low enough to use this as a blinker for your bike at night.
One of the best parts of this app though is that you can change the duty cycle of the flash so that the flash will be turned on for, say, 10% of the cycle rather than 50% of the cycle. While this may seem trivial, at a strobe frequency of 4Hz, 50% is simply a light flashing ON/OFF while 10% is a strobe providing quick bursts of light.
Give it a try! It's a high quality strobe light and is way more fun than using a flash light.
A quick note about different phone hardware:
This app works flawlessly on some phones and pitifully on others. Before you say "this app is crap" send me an email and I'll see if I can get it working on your phone.
Updates:
v1.1.2
- Improved strobe consistency
- Improved strobe timing
- Added burst mode
- Added adjustments for better stroboscope operation
- Added x2 and x½ buttons
- Added lag detection

Best strobe app.
You can control just about everything. It is the most detailed app and it's free. This is how other strobe apps should be.

what tha,my screen was never so brightneon, its useles sorry when post this but rocks.like+5stars:good:

Update v1.1.2:
- Improved strobe consistency
- Improved strobe timing
- Added burst mode
- Added adjustments for better stroboscope operation
- Added x2 and x½ buttons
- Added lag detection
This update actually greatly improves the quality of the strobe light. I did a lot of tweaking with the LED and now my phone can consistently put out 3 ms flashes.

This is a fantastic app, thank you! I notice some luminance variation in the strobe on my Galaxy Note 2 at higher frequencies, I'll see what I can do about graphing them and getting back to you.

A great update
This update fixes a lot of problems there used to be. I can't find anything wrong with this version.

Hi,
i've tried your app and it works fine. Does exactly what it is meant to do. What i'm looking for is to adjust my flash's intensity while i'm capturing photos/videos with the camera. I know that it is very much possible but i've no idea about how to go around that myself. I'm okay even if i could permanantly change the value of the maximum ( Or maximum threshold value) brightness to some other lower value.
Any kind of help or guidance regarding this will be highly appreciated.
P.S. You can make another app out of this and put it on the Play Store.

Hi, I've just purchased this. I need 40 hz. The bar on the right which only goes upto 30 has confused me..!
If I set the number manually to 40 is that what I get?
Thanks,
Cat.

Ok, I've noticed the advanced settings now. Sorted the speed.
Another problem though. The screen will only flash if the led is also selected? (Samsung Galaxy S4).

Hi,
I tried you app, works great!
For me everything works, just wanted to share it.
Keep it up :good:

Thanks for your app, it saved the night. T'was very helpful to know that there was an app that were able to enhance the music vibe.
I know you want some news of "what kind your app is able to save a night", and it saved our might, so thank you
It was very helpful.

good if it was ad-free

(Wow what a headache. Just want to add that with adaway it works fine)

I am using the strobe section for adjusting my turntable speed. What do you suggest for settings to optimize for 33.33 RPM?

[2.3+]NightLamp: Sleep better at night!

NightLamp turns your phone into an intelligent night light and clock, allowing you to sleep with ease.
If you need a little bit of light before going to bed, this app is perfect for you! It will automatically fade to black after at a preset time. Woke up during the night? Simply tap the screen or activate one of the sensors to turn the light back on again.
If you need a brighter light to move around the house, just flip the phone over and the flashlight will turn on! Woohoo!
You can control the light using various sensors on the phone:
-Flip the phone over to activate the camera flashlight
-Shake the phone to toggle the screen
-The phone responds to the ambient light, turning on and off as needed
-Voice recognition to turn the light on/off using hotwords
Note: Voice recognition is very beta right now.

***Alpha software, may blow up.***
The Android API that involves camera and sensors is a pain to support on all devices, because there is no unified way to do something like turning on the flashlight. So it would have to be supported for each phone model, which takes some time, so be patient as I work the kinks out.
Please do not give negative reviews due to crashes, because this app still needs testing to support a lot of devices...
If you do use the app, please do shoot me an email about your experience with it if possible
Tested to work on Galaxy Nexus so far.

Since it puts the screen at full brightness for a while, I highly recommend hooking the phone to a power source. If you have an AMOLED screen, the power drain from the app while the screen is dim would be small, but it would still drain the battery faster than if the phone is sleeping.
as I tap on Start, it shows a grey clock on white background but I hear a continuous BEEP once every second almost. Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 latest stock firmware ITV
that's the sound the voice recognition beeps to tell you it's listening.
disabling the voice recognition, the sound goes away as well.
You should also enable the android power saving so to reduce cpu and network usage like it almost does in standby.
Nice little app.

Google borked the speech recognizer code in recent versions (since Android 4.1) with a forced beep sound, I tried to mute it but it doesn't seem to work uniformly across devices, so I will have to change the speech recognition engine in the future.
I will look into power saving, thanks for letting me know!
You're welcome!
very nice UI =)

Added a new version where you can swipe the screen to adjust brightness of the front light. Additionally, speech recognition is no longer enabled by default due to bugs.
Cool app. I ended up using it for reading so I don't have to turn a light on but if I fall asleep then it'll fade down and all is well.
Works well on an Asus TF101 running 4.2.2 (katkiss v224 based on eos4). I can confirm the continuous beep bug too with the volume to silent fix.
One thing that would be awesome down the road would be to have a continuous fade of the display brightness over the course of the time you set. For example say you set the fade for 10 minutes, three minutes in it'll have reduced to 70%. Don't know if it's doable but it's just an idea.

Hey,
I am proud to present my second app to a wider Audience! Since about two monts my App is now in the Play Store, but with my newest Version I dare to publish it here It would be absolutely amazing if you could test my App and tell me whats wrong and what else to implement. Even more amazing would be if you could post your created Light Paintings here! As it turned out I am a better Programmer than Photograph...
Cheers

Hello Everyone,
I am happy to announce Version 0.5.0! Have Fun with it!
You can find it in the Play Store in a few hours, or you can sideload it now!
Cheers
KobiP
Hi!
I uploaded the BugFix Version 0.5.1. The APK I was installing with Eclipse worked fine, the APK that I exported and send to Play Store / Google Drive not. This should be solved now.
Cheers
Hello,
I am moving quickly towards the first Version that could be called "stable". This time I removed two Bugs: the first made the RGB color gradient to be executed as HSV. The second Bug was introduced in v0.5, it caused all color gradients to run for 5s, no matter what you applied.
I also Improved the UI: You can find now the Refresh Rate and Number of Lines on the Main Screen, not hidden in the Settings. Just press the new More Options Button. In the Settings you can find now a new Option that lets your Phone Vibrate when the color gradient is finished.
Cheers,
KobiP
Hello,
wow, more than two years later I have a new Version of the Light Painting Helper! This time it is a mayor rewrite of the App to get Material Design, Fractions, new Icon, ...
Much more of a maintenance release than new Features.
Tell me what you think!
Cheers
Hello,
another week, another update. This time just a small bugfix, when closing displaying a single color the app crashed.
Cheers
I've been using Light Painting Helper lately. Of all of the apps on the Play store, it's the only one that seems to work, so I thought I'd offer encouragement.
The use of the orientation sensor to 'pause' the pattern is really amazingly handy. My E-M5 Mk II has a "Live Time" mode so I can see the exposure take form on the iPad, while I use my Moto X to run your app. So, first I start your app, point the phone face-down, then I trigger the shutter, then I get in position to paint.
The 'lines' pattern tends to make for the most interesting texture.
I'd post a URL but I can't because anti-spam.
Hi. Just installed and know how to use it. Very helpfull app, I am wondering if you can add option for enter tekst that could be displayed as floating letters, like you observe it behind aperture. And moving phone will create hanging tekst when you capture it with camera with light painting option.

Sorry, what? You get it in Play Store and in the second post you find the APK to Sideload.
Well, ok, i can fully understand you, what about position of tekst at screen? Is too low and bottom half is cut.
And also - it`s too slow - i dont see option to speed it up.
And - great work! Keep it going. If this app cost about $1 i would buy it - if it works perfectly. Sometimes it crashes when i choose second option.

Adds a configurable Energy Ring around the camera lens indicating current Battery level. Dive into the various configuration options, not only you can quickly glance and get the battery info but, Energy Ring adds an accent to your phone's camera lens.
Got a full charge? The Ring will be a 360 degree wrap around the front camera lens.
Battery depleting? So will the arc of Energy Ring.
Out of the box features:-
✓ Energy Ring can be configured from a width of 1 pixel to a donut thick ring
✓ Energy Ring puts almost 0% load on CPU, as it wakes up only to reflect any change in battery level
✓ Energy Ring's direction can be configured as clockwise/bidirectional/anti-clockwise
✓ Energy Ring can hide on fullscreen content (apps, videos, images, games etc)
✓ Energy Ring can be configured to change colors automatically depending on the live battery level
✓ Energy Ring could have a mono color/multiple color segments/gradient (pro)
✓ You can literally assign any color in the world for your favorite configuration
✓ Energy Ring has a number of cool animations whenever a power source is plugged into your device
All that is cool! But what about Energy Ring consuming Battery?!
This is one of the most exciting question for me to answer. Energy Ring more than anything understands that you need to utilize your battery efficiently (after all, that's why you installed the App, right? .) Energy Ring sits on the screen silently putting almost 0% load on CPU, if battery level changes, Android wakes up Energy Ring. Once awake, Energy Ring quickly updates itself and goes back to sleep. And to be that extra efficient, the Ring goes on deep sleep when you turn off the screen, meaning it doesn't even read changes in battery level when the screen is off.
Notification Access requirement:
Energy Ring does not read any Notification whatsoever, it merely relies on it to be alive. Be assured that the App does NOT access anything.
Download now from Google Play Store! And if you like, please leave a rating.
UPDATE!
ER_BETA_3:
You can now adjust the angle at which Energy Ring starts.
Would work for View 20 too - Mirror it pls
If it´s possible you can mirror the ring to the other side - so Huawei honor view 20 Users can use the app too.
Would be great - maybe as an option in your app.
Best Jens
Can't wait for the update to bring S10 Plus support! Ready to donate if it works as expected! ?
Holy wow this awesome! Can't wait for S10+ support!
A promo code would be appreciated
Hi just checked out the app, it's very clever and I'm sure you'll do well with it. I was going to request a grey scale gradient as most S10 owners like dark wallpapers for OLED screens but I've found this is a paid for feature. I attempted and failed to be able to send email feedback via the app so I've found the post here instead. Can i request that you add support for different styles of the ring such as dots or different amount of dots so i can pattern match my wallpaper.
I'd like to be able to blend it into the stars more subtlety. When used in combination with the Samsung App Good Lock to disable the battery icon you would be able to achieve a great affect.
Just donated and got the grey scale look I wanted. Would love that ability to make the line different amounts of dots... however I noticed this continuous message is there a way to suppress this?
Honor View20 support
Looks great, I'd like to echo the request for Honor View20 support - where the hole punch is on the opposite side.
@jagan2 I hope you will do a LED ring notification app too!

A simple mirror would not work, need to tailor the App to the specific device to have consistent experience across all 4 possible screen rotation. I consider making a View 20 version in future!

I do consider to make a separate App for that, but lack of ability to disable on LockScreen and AOD, not sure it's worth creating just to reply and explain to every user that why it can't appear on Lockscreen AOD.
ER_BETA_5 update!
* Added option to make Energy Ring's background transparent.
* Fixed issue 'Merged Segments' color configuration (First segment used to be hidden.)
* Attempts to fix issues with permission dialog compatibility with Chrome and other Sensitive Apps.
* Made minor adjustments to Ring alignment for S10+.
Screen burn-in:
The original variant of the App, Energy Bar has been used over several years by users on their AMOLED devices, there has been no complains. But there is no claim that it may not happen.
Samsung automatically moves few pixels every now and then to avoid screen burn-in which includes Energy Ring moving away from its original position. This change in position will however be visible only when you have set its thickness to minimum.
Please leave a rating on Google Play Store if you use the App, that helps, thanks!
Very cool app, but fitment on Galaxy S10e is little off. Can and will it be fixed?
ER_BETA_5.1 update!
* Optimized Energy Ring for S10+ landscape mode.
* Attempts to resolve animation issues.
Please leave a rating on Google Play Store if you use the App, that helps, thanks!
No charging animation?
If you see no charging animation, it's probably because you have turned on this system setting which prevents Energy Ring from animating!

[App][9.0+] System MonCon (System Monitoring and Control)

Hello all. Back with a new app called System MonCon after a long time. It's the beginning of the app and will grow further with your support and suggestions.
It's not that I have created a great thing. Only trying to bring small, simple and often quick info required kind of things at one place.
A combination of noticeable 3 things:

Are you using your smartphone or tablet in the late evening?
Blue Light Filter may be an ideal solution for you!
What is Blue Light Filter?
An app that effectively reduces the amount of blue light emitted from electronic devices by overlaying a translucent filter.
Great for those who use their devices all day long and are feeling fatigued.
It keeps the eyes healthy and helps users achieve comfortable sleep.
Besides the blue light filter, the screen dim feature will reduce the screen brightness to a minimum level as night mode.
Why you should use Blue Light Filter?
Research shows that exposure to blue light imposes serious threats to retinal neurons, causes eye strain, dry eyes, and inhibits the secretion of melatonin, a hormone that influences circadian rhythms. With our filter function, your vision health will be greatly improved.
It is recommended to turn on this app when you are reading or playing games, especially in a dark room.
Features:
- Adjustable color temperature
- Automatic filter intensity (based on readings from the light sensor)
- Schedule (start and stop time)
- Brightness setup (manual and adaptive)
- Caffeine mode
Why Blue Light Filter uses AccessibilityServices API
Enabling this type of service expands the range of capabilities so screen filter can cover system views such as:
- Status bar
- Navigation bar
- Lock screen
And remove overlay limitations:
- Not allowing app installation
* Since Android 12, accessibility service is needed in order to enable screen filter.
Enabling this won't allow Blue Light Filter to access your screen content
