I really like the redesign of the ESPN Scorecenter app that was updated yesterday.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.espn.score_center
I want to use their notification system to receive score/news updates on my favorite teams. But, for whatever reason, they do not offer an option to suppress audio and vibrate when notifications occur. I just want notification light and notification bar updates. Most other sports apps offer that as a standard option. I don't want to hear the stupid ESPN jingle at 2am if my team is playing a game on the West coast.
Anyone have any ideas on either how to suppress the audio and vibration for notifications or maybe some way to hack the app to remove those? I don't know where the audio file is saved. That could be a start, but that wouldn't help with vibration.
I have no interest in adjusting my system settings to accomplish this (i.e. turn off system notification volume or system vibrate).
I don't think something like Tasker would do the job because the app isn't open during the time I'm receiving notifications. These are just push notifications.
I've written to their support a few times now and have gotten no where with them. I really would think that this has discouraged many people from using the notification feature of the app.
Any ideas?
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Hello!
I was wondering if there is an app that would allow to play a notification sound until the notification is checked. I get a default, short sound for my calendar notifications which I often miss so I want something that plays a sound or repeats the notification sound until I check the event. It's for the HTC EVO 4G.
I've tried searching around and tried apps like "missed call" but I have not found a solution to works on the calendar.
The closest app I found is called "calendar snooze" but instead of playing the notification sound until I check it, it reminds me for every minute or so with maximum of 5 times (can be customized and more options are available in paid version). So wondering if there is something that just simply plays the sound until the calendar is viewed.
Thanks!
I've been searching around the web and have not found an answer to this problem. Regardless of the phone being on silent, vibrate, or even do not disturb, text notifications still interrupt the music that is playing. It happens with Google Play Music, Pandora, and Spotify.
I downloaded a couple apps to manage media and notification volumes individually, but one didn't work at all, and the other simply muted the notification but the music still lowers for a second, as if the notification is still occuring.
Can anyone help me out? This is quite frustrating.
Please, and thank you for your time.
Update: I noticed this only occurs with a headset plugged in or connected via Bluetooth. When using the phone's speakers for music playback, notifications do not interrupt the music.
Workaround: I managed to find a slightly more bearable solution. Here is basically what I did.
1 - Download third party texting app for play store.
2 - Assign new text app as default.
3 - Go to Settings -> Apps, find stock messaging app, and disable all notification settings.
4 - Modify new text app notifications to vibrate only.
I don't know if some of these steps are excessive/unnecessary, but I'm tired of tinkering around so much, so I'm settling here. I hope this can help someone that finds themselves in the same situation. Again, I do not claim this to be the best solution; just slightly less bad.
I can't seem to get the 'long' vibration setting on Telegram working despite having the notifications set to 'urgent' in the system notification settings as well as vibration being turned on both in the app and the system notification settings.
It also seems that Oreo notifications are buggy in general - notifications that i've already read/dismissed still show up in the status bar from time to time, and the 'urgent' setting sometimes automatically changes in other apps such as Whatsapp. It seems the notification LED is also inconsistent - sometimes indicates that a notification has been received even when the screen is on.
Is anyone else running into similar issues?
I have not seen this particular issue, but I have noticed that I can no longer set individual app sound notification. I have a different Text notification and a different Hangouts notification but ALL notifications use the default system notification sound.
Edit:
Looks like there is 2 notification settings in the messenger app, one is for general notifications, the other is for new notifications. I only set the general notifications, after setting the new notifications sound, all is good. This is a really stupid design.

Couldn't agree more about the design- I also get notification channels for individual people even though I have not pinned them, and those channels do not follow the general notification settings either
Same issue.
Both my alarm clock tone and any changes to the default sounds in apps are ignored. They all keep on using the default sound. Annoying for one particular app I use for health is full on like someone dropping a garbage can and by default full blast. It comes on at night regularly and there's a world of difference between being woken up gently and thinking there's a home intruder. Any advice?
I have 2 apps installed, WhatsApp and Ring Doorbell that are not giving me sound notifications. For me the volume on this device is not very loud. I work in a noisy environment and need loud volume. My last phone (Note 5) I did that sound mod changing the volume xml file and used very loud notification sounds (mp3) and it was perfect. So I took those sound files from the Note and put them into the Mi 10 Ultra in Ringtones folder and set them. Since then I get no sound notifications.
I did some digging and found an app 'Hidden Settings for MIUI' and set it to 'play sounds', but that didn't fix the issue either. I'm completely new to MIUI and am all out of ideas. Its strange, but when I open the phone, the WhatsApp notification sound beeps to let me know I have a message, but I have to open the phone, if its sitting in my pocket I get no notification. Ring Doorbell is not working at all as far as notifications go. Nothing. If someone who knows MIUI could give me some help it would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: shouldn't have wasted my time
That's it for me. SIM out and back to my Note 5. Great phone but the software is atrocious, if I had of known the nightmare this would be I wouldn't have bought this phone. So now it goes back into its box where it will stay, 6 months 1 year I don't care, until there is an alternative to using this absolute mess that MIUI is. A real shame, but something as simple as a couple of apps really is the deal breaker for me. Maybe I'll sell it? Global ROM? Who knows ....but for now its a useless device that can't even run a couple of apps? That is as bad as it gets. Its privacy settings are the worst I have ever seen. Disguised as 'protecting you' but in reality its the other way around. If I wanted to be locked out and locked in and locked down I would have bought an Apple iPhone. Xiaomi makes good phones, but their MIUI software is the worst I have ever seen. I would not recommend anyone buy this device.
I actually was facing this problem and found out a fix. You just have to turn vibration on. For some reason some apps don't make a sound if it doesn't have vibration on for notifications.

I have Ring doorbell and Whatsapp working (sort of) as sometimes they are delayed.
I had to change settings/notifications/ring and set rules for notification as important and also make sure all notification settings are on
Then fo to settings/apps/manage apps/ring and make sure Autostart is on and set permissions to make sure the bottom 4 are set to green ticked. Then make sure restrict data usage set to WLAN and Mobile data and then set Battery Saver to No restrictions.
Hopefully it will work after that. Do similar things to other apps that may not be making notifications correctly.
PS I'm using China ROM
So I had this issue and figured out a sure way to get sound notifications working.
You just have to turn vibration on in the subtype of notification for said specific app. If you don't want vibration on all notifications for that specific app turn it off otherwise.
Here is the thing that helped me with the same notification issue! Just google "xiaomi mi 10 ultra notifications" and in the top 5 links you'll probably find an article from:
theunpopulartraveller. It explains the settings, and they need to be accessed by pressing and holding the app icon ^ app info.
Don't give up, try and you'll get the sounds from needed apps back. And ye, actually now I find the way Xiaomi did it much more convenient: I just turned on notifications for 2 apps, and all the rest are silent, while previously I had to turn off all the rest of the apps (much more than 2, definitely) not to get disturbed by all the bull****.
Just switched to sony Xperia from iOS. Couple things driving me batty but I hope there are fixes.
I have notification sounds on, but when I'm watching YouTube, listening to music or on TikTok, the media fades and the notification sounds loud which is so annoying and I don't care to switch to do not disturb or silent every time I want to use one of those apps. Is there a way to have the notifications automatically silently pop up when consuming media https://nox.tips/ https://xender.vip/ .
The qr scanner in the notification shade only opens black and doesn't use the camera when open - is there a way to fix this
The speakers and the microphone are TERRIBLE, I am getting constant complaints from whom I am on the phone to - is there a way to fix this?
Thank you

First of all, Welcome to XDA!
I don't know much about Sony devices and I also don't "i" anything, however, the Android operating system, in general has some settings and features common to most devices.
The notification thing, yeah, crazy right? Crank up the volume on your favorite tune and PING! We shouldn't have to "fix" it, anyways, you have some options:
In your settings, open the app drawer to all your apps, and tap through Settings/Sound & vibration
You can adjust the volume levels for media, call volume, ring & notifications and the alarm. It can be tedious though, I use the Do Not Disturb feature. You can do more than just turn it on and off:
[Based on my Google Pixel 7 Pro, Stock Firmware]
Beneath the "Turn on now" button, first option is "What can interrupt Do Not Disturb", People | Apps | Alarms & other
You can create schedules, set a duration for when you tap the QS tile, and even keep hidden notification hidden. It's one of the most used features on my phones.
I only allow what I consider "HIGH Priority", family and work, everyone else can leave a message. I use Amazon music, so it and the Google don't get along too well, I *think* with other services you can connect with your device "assistant", or whatever AI it has. I don't know Sony devices, did I mention that?
As far as your hardware (cam and speakers), I don't know what to tell you other than the Google Pixel has the best cam experience and most Android phones have crappy speakers. There are some audio mods around here though, they can do wonders for some devices.
Best of luck and I hope you don't go back to iOS,
Nepo
