-instructions
make sure your on the oct update i have it on my server along with a copy of the original recovery
1. make sure the rom is on a external sd card.
2. flash it with vampirefo's recovery (i made a recovery script pack with bat files for an easy install and adb drivers)
3. in recovery format everything except your sdcard. (this is under mounts and storage)
4. install rom
5. enjoy!
6. -optional- you need to reinstall recovery after you install this rom
files are here
http://omniimpact.com/android/roms/myfishbear/?dir=/D2pad D2_711 with 512 memory
-tips-
do not oc over 1.1 ghz it will mess your d2pad up (fried one @1.2ghz and returned it lol)
try no-frills cpu and set it to min clock 204mhz max clock 1.008ghz interactive gov with noop scheduler for longer battery life
don't update Netflix
use screen filter in play store to make the screen darker so you can save more power
-How to use recovery script-
Thanks, will give it a try.
My device only shows 1GB of free space. Is this normal?
Why not update netflix? like ever?
Edit 1: Also am i missing something? On win 7 64 it doesn't install 1 driver automatically so i can't run the recovery scripts. Where do i get the proper drivers for this device?
Edit 2: Used adb drivers from another zip I had found and ran through everything. Seemed to work fine. Flashed 2.1 for 711 201212 then flashed the 160 line zip and selected reboot system. It said looks like root is missing, install? and i selected yes then got into a boot loop. Any ideas?
Edit 3: Yup i'm one of those annoying people. Got back into recovery and wipe/factory reset and then re-flashed just 2.1 and NOT the 160 line and now i'm seeing the custom boot and in now. My apologies. Trying out play!
Edit 4: Just fyi lost the higher resolution after first boot. Tried the 160 fix again and it had the bootloop. Went back and had to install your rom again and magically I was back to a better resolution. Reboot again and back to the horrible one. Any ideas how to make the resolution stick? I tried a build prop editor and saved the 160 line but that didn't seem to take.
I finally made it work!
I think I was using an incorrect recovery.img while I was messing with the procedure...
The think is that all went very well except that when I rebooted the D2, the screen DPI reverted to default so everything is huge again like Primus76 said on his post above.
Is there anything else we need to do to make it stick? *** found a solution by installing LCD Density Modder from the Store ***
Other than that it feels pretty snappy and stable. I'll put it through it's paces and see.
Cheers and thanks OP!
Sorry for double posting...
Can somebody explain where did the rest of the memory went? (see photo)
Internal I can understand, but SD Card is supposed to be 4 GB and it only has just a bit over 1 GB free!!!
Quite honestly I didn't checked that before I flashed this ROM, but I'm sure something's not right... :silly:
Thanks!!!

I'll have to check my daughters to see. I don't have it in front of me but see if you can get an app called diskusage on the play store. All one word. It should show you where everything is being used. I'll try it out later and see.
For LCD density it looks like 160 is default so I manually pushed it to 130 by editing the system file. Much better at that size but did you notice the launcher layout and app drawer are only allowing a few columns of icons? Would love to hack the launcher more. I put on nova which is great but also have kids place on there for my daughter and the 3 launchers conflict so I took it off.
How did you get the drivers to install and what is are you using? Did you have to get another zip?

Thanks for your DiskUsage app recommendation (I've been using it for the longest time) however this is not a case of lost storage due to data taking up space somewhere, but a problem with the storage size of the medium to begin with. In other words, total storage should be at least close to 4 GB not just 1 GB which makes me think that the storage partition (Internal "SD Card") is damaged or something. Where are the other three or so GB???
Yes I noticed about the layout not stretching, more noticeable on the app drawer.
The drivers installed without problems on my Windows 7 PRO PC. Are you running the files as administrator? (right click and "run as administrator")?
Cheers!

I think it is 4gb total. Looks like the system is using 2.8 GB leaving us 1.2 for storage.
Hmm didn't run as admin but what exe it file did you use? Either way I managed to get them going using the other file and selected the troubleshoot option on the device to search for the new driver files.
On a new problem the orientation is messed up leading to the layout I think. When playing temple run it plays in portrait but to tilt the device to make him move you need to hold it in landscape so its broken. Camera doesn't work either. Need original poster to help if possible.

Hmmm, that's possible... Anyone can confirm if their D2 Tablets show the same amount of storage as mine?
On the orientation problem you mentioned, I noticed that too while my daughter was playing Temple Run. Then while tinkering with the settings I stumbled onto a setting that I don't remember, but it has something to do with the type of orientation sensing you want to use, I changed it to the other available setting and that worked!
Sorry I can't be more specific, but I don't have the D2 with me.
Will look it up when I get home.
Cheers!

Yeah it was in display and accelerometer coordinates or something of that nature. Now to just get the app drawer and launcher screen with the proper number of icons and the camera to work.

Go in to settings/app manager/all apps/ find the camera app, then clear data. You might have to clear gallery data also. This works on cell phones so it should work on this too

I did a factory reset when I was doing the initial install... could that have caused this? It is habit from CM.
Seems that this is a problem for others too. I decided to try and dload the rom again and check it out. Saw comments on the folder for http://omniimpact.com/android/roms/myfishbear/?dir=/D2pad d2_711 D201212xxxxxxx with 512 memory:

Some outstanding questions
After following the steps, the boot animation is in landscape, it boots into a nice 120 density screen with a launcher that is wide on landscape and an app drawer that is wide as well. Temple run when downloaded and installed on first boot works as expected in portrait mode without having to change Display->Accelerometer coordinate system.
After reboot, the boot logo goes portrait, the density goes back to 160 and when pushed to 120 manually the launcher on landscape is compressed and so is the app drawer. Almost seems like it was rotated 90 counter clockwise. Temple run now reacts wrong where tilting left and right will only work properly on landscape but the game is portrait. To fix, need to adjust the coordinate system.
Camera doesn't work on the D2 or D2.1 Roms after first boot nor after reboot.
1. I think if we stopped it from rotating 90 degrees counter clockwise after first boot, we'd solve the launcher and app drawer display issue along with the accelerometer issue in portrait games. (co-worker confirmed it happens on other games too).
2. Why does the camera not work at all? Tried replacing the apk from the backup of factory image but that didn't work. Assuming the .so files or drivers? Not sure what to take from the backup to try and replace the ones in the rom image to see if they work.
3. Why does the lcd density in the build.prop (I know it is 120 in the rom zip) vanish and default back to 160 on first reboot?
Any assistance from Myfishbear would be greatly appreciated. Just trying to help you out man as its a great rom for a cheap device and want to help you make it perfect .
Thanks!
Answered something myself:
1+3: looks like your build.prop from the rom didn't stick and it overwrote on first boot. The system removed the lcd density and added hwrotation=270. Copying your build.prop from the rom back into system and rebooting fixed the logo, launcher, app drawer, games with accelerometer and lcd density. And it sticks after another reboot.
Now to just get the camera to work.

Did you format system like in the instructions? Did you do a wipe/factory reset? Wondering if the drivers, etc may have stayed on your tablet and didn't accept the ones from the rom. I agree it's weird. What build date is on yours? Is it d201212... or a different one? I would assume these are the same hardware with different back skin BUT they may be different hardware from month to month. My pink one and my co-workers is 201212, my other co-worker has the black one and it was 201209. I flashed the exact same way but he hasn't confirmed if the camera is working yet. If I could figure out what files the camera uses, i could probably copy from the backup the adb steps made and push them into the phone.
Just weird.

Yes I followed the instructions to the letter. I did a wipe/factory reset plus my accustomed manual System, Data formats plus cache wipes.
My D2 is a D201209XXXX 512 RAM White
As a matter of fact, I just made some Google Talk video calls just to test it out again and it worked flawlessly.
Cheers!

So it could be a difference between 1209 and the 1212 ones. By the way if you copy in the build.prop from the rom itself into your system folder and reboot you should be good with the 120 lines and the proper hw rotation and not have to select the accelerometer setting either.

After reading a thread on here before about this is (which i cannot find again) I decided to get to work to make this work, and after a little bit of poking about i managed to get it to work!
The app is now on the market! either search for "xperia play camera" or you use this link https://market.android.com/details?id=seb.camera.mod&feature=search_result.
The instructions are now obsolete but im keeping them there for completeness.
Installation Insturctions
1. Backup the original camera application with a root application manager e.g. titanium backup
2. Then delete the original camera app
3. Reboot your phone
4. Install the .apk from below
If you have a previous version installed you do not need to delete the old one or reboot just install as you would any other app
Version history
v5 - fixed remaining issues this is the final version as of time of writing please report any issues.
v4 - fixed video mode and added non root version
v3 - pictures now taken on release of R1 and menu position fixed
v2 - Decreased menu size by about 40% and fixed minor graphical glitches with menus
v1 - Original release, has VERY large menus
Hope you guys like it!

Currently the shutter button on the screen remains highlighted until you tap the screen, not a big issue but its one I didn't have time to resolve, maybe later.
To install the app (.apk attached) you need to remove the one that came with the phone and then install this one, I would recommend backing up the original first too.

Works like a charm ! thanks
Now going to update the original post with v2 that fixes the graphical glitches with the on screen hud. The pop-up menus have been decreased in size but still remain larger than the insanely small ones the original menu had. This version can be installed over the top of v1 like a normal app with no fuss.
good job !!
but how can i move libs to system files?
Great app! Works like a charm. Thanks for the great work.
My suggestion: I don't know what everyone thinks about this, but would it be possible to make it so that the app only focuses pressing down but doesn't take the actual photo until you release your finger (it would kind of mirror the shutter button on the screen).
Some advantages that would come from this would be being able to focus and then reframe, as well as timing shots better.
Thx bud works so much better now...I really disliked touching the screen to take pic.

Good job but a few issues...
1. Is it me or so images taken this way seem to be blurrier than when taken with the stock camera app?
2. Why is there a gap between the menu bar, and the portion with the shutter button and the camera mode selector?
3. It seems to me that the menu, when clicked on it, seems as if the options are very blurry?
Nhialor
Also, remove the on screen shutter button.
You see, you help people, do a good job & they expect you to perform miracles!
Hey everyone, I want to preface this with apologies if this indeed happens to be an issue previously resolved, i just cannot for the life of me seem to find any info on the subject. This is a big problem for me. For a frame of reference I am running CM7 with Fauxs kernel with the newer looking market update. Dont know when i got this update, just kinda happened, but then you know, i hate it. First of all i cant figure out how to browse all the apps like i used to. In the old market i could browse everything and see if i wanted to mess around with stuff. Now they only show the tops in certain categories or you have to search for it yourself. Hate that. Also, i am having an issue with downloading apps. The little blue download button is just not there on most apps and I am failing to figure out a reason why. some apps have it some dont. some will have it one day and not have it the next. I am really confused and need help. If you know whats wrong with me Id appreciate a hand!
Thanks,
Depressed Android User
Hmmm still having a difficult time seeing what the problem is. The only solution i can think of is to re-flash the latest CM7 Rom along with the latest gapps and make sure to wipe factory data, cache, dalvik, format/system, and fix permissions.
Hope this helps. But when i mess around with my phone too much and do something stupid, this method always works for me. Good luck sir.

Edit 2: by the way, hahhaha i went back to 240 just to see what its like, i can barely function! everything is soooo big! at 200 i have fat screen real estate and the icons and such are much more comfortable on my eyes. its nicer to have more line items on the screen too, like in my music apps, more artists and less scrolling. win

Anyone had any luck changing the LCD density on the ICS leak? I tried it using LCD Modder Pro and it resulted in a soft brick.

I'm trying LCD Resolution, it says it needs busybox installed.
I go to the market and try to get an installer for busybox, and apparently market is broken for me - I can't download anything from it. Updates work fine, but can't get anything new.
I've been unsuccessful in getting the LCD resolution to change. I tried LCD Resolution with no change (no soft brick though). Also tried modifying the build.prop directly, that resulted in a soft brick.
I resolved my market broken issue (just reinstalled ICS through odin).
Going to try it after my nandroid backup is done. Fingers crossed!
EDIT:
On further thought and some googling, a lot of the LCD density changing apps on the market have disclaimers about it not working on certain devices, or ICS. So I would actually be surprised if the ways of doing it on 2.3.5 will work on 4.0+
EDIT:
Alright, gave it a shot. It won't work. In fact, some of the icons appear larger. Didn't break my phone at all though, just a quick reboot and it was back to normal. I'm going to keep trying different ways.

I haven't been able to get it yet..
I'm hoping that once the custom ROMs start rolling out I'll be able to figure it out. I'm good at getting into those and changing things, but I'm bad at manipulating just my phone.
---------- Post added at 11:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:54 PM ----------
Yeah editing the build file just gave me a soft brick as well.. bummer.
EDIT:
I tried adding a new line to the build.prop - My phone appeared to soft brick, and when I was trying to boot it into CWM it somehow booted up. But nothing had changed. Weird..
Also the apps on the market that claim to work with ICS don't for me.
Also, I heard that the Galaxy S II folks had this weird issue of there being TWO LINES that you needed to change... but from what I could tell (I looked over the file very carefully) there is only that one line.
i got the lcd density to change, use rom toolbox pro and changed it to 200 in the build tweaks section

WORKED. Going to check it with 160 (what I used). Excellent find man, thanks!!
EDIT: Ah my phone is so beautiful now. Works perfectly, now if I can only figure out how the app is getting the job done.. haha
That worked perfectly. I was trying to change it for hours. Thanks! I am using 160 too. Looks great, better than with Gingerbread!
What exactly does changing this do?
This changes the resolution of your screen.
ROM Toolbox did the trick, thanks.

Ahh, thank you. Saved me! I did not want to revert back to GB, but do not enjoy a senior friendly UI either!
Ok, I tried this and not sure what is going on.
When I do, the icons get smaller, but instead of using all the screen realestate, I have a large section of unused space that I can't do anything with.
What am I missing or what am I doing wrong?
After you've changed the density, you'll want to change the number of columns/rows of your launcher to make use of the extra space.
Awesome! Rooted up my skyrocket on ICS! First root for me on my first android! And just got my skyrocket yesterday!
I changed mine to 200, it's way better this way. I did it through the rom toolbox as suggested.
There is a small lag though going back to the home screen, are you guys experience this as well?
Any suggestions on fixing the dial pad? I've done some searching and it seems most of the fixes aren't for us.. yet.

You change it in your launcher settings. I'd highly recommend Nova launcher. It acts like the AOSP ICS launcher (with the widgets section integrated into the app drawer). By default the desktop space is 4 rows by 4 columns, but you can change this. I'm experimenting with what works for me with a 160 density.

Thanks, that helped, now how do I create folders in Nova launcher? Can't figure this out for the life of me.
EDIT:
Nevermind, figured it out, it's like the iOS way of creating folders. Just drag and drop 1 app onto another.
Hmm, noticed that the disagree didn't resize either. Can anyone recommend a good dialer?
Exdialer is great.

I have successfully ported IOAP to the Kindle Fire HD 7". In order for this to work your KFHD must already be rooted and have 2nd Bootloader & TWRP recovery installed. I used the Google Nexus (flo) version from Sourceforge to port and I couldn't have done it without the help of Prallday168.
I have not included any other mods or tweaks. Simply ported from one device to another.
Thanks to Hashcode for everything he has done with the KFHD, Prallday168 & South956 for their assistance and tips, MikeChops for motivating me, Jamison904, mrimp, all the Infamous Developers involved and everyone here.
Update 02/06/2014: I have made a 2nd PORT with Double Tap to Wake feature added. Everything else is the same. (CREDITS to jb2kred)
Update 02/12/2014: I have fixed the Bluetooth and changed the Boot Animation to "CMRingOfFire" by PartimusPrime, Also included the Double Tap 2 Wake, and the Xposed Framework Installer. Enjoy!

Thank you, I will look into fixing that.
Update: I flashed IOAP to my Samsung Galaxy S4 to see what the differences may be and if my issues were related to the ROM or my port and I found, the Galaxy S4 version is newer than this and it looks like they removed that option, all together. Som other things are taken out. I will have to wait for an update to (flo) before I can look into this more, I think but, maybe they removed it because they couldn't get it to function. Also, the Black UI is working on my phone so, I have to look into that more.
This rom is pretty fantastic so far despite the silly clown mask boot screen. Snappier and more responsive than Im used to from the latest cyanogen. I also recomend the Gapps with the custom font.

It's a great ROM and runs very smoothly on the KFHD 7. The masks are like the Infamous Developers logo. Like Cyanogen's "Andy". They make great ROMs. Plain and simple. Try it or don't, your choice.

Couple of quick issues. Any dpi other then 240 the side navigation bar disappears, and installing pretty downloaded apks, the install button is unclickable. Other then that great rom, lots of features, quick and snappy response times, and the Guy Fawkes masks sold it for me lol. Clean install coming from BsHarmony (great as well). Is anyone else having these issues?

In the build.prop, dpi is set to 213 which is standard for our tablets. I have not tried it at any other setting. As far as installing .apk's, I have had no issues. Have you gone into Settings -> Security and enabled "Unnown Sources" ?

PartimusPrime makes some great Bootanimations that you can easily use as a replacement to the mask, if you prefer. I like the "CMRingOfFire" especially for the KindleFire. The 800x800 download looks great. His second post on that thread tells you how to use it as a replacement.
Went back to 213 from 240 and navigation bar disappeared, unknown sources selected and verify apps test on setting and turned off. Selecting the apk, strolling till the word changes from next to install and it's not allowing me to click. Cancel button works but nothing else. I use ES Explorer, auto install to over come the issue and 240 isn't an issue much. (full screen quick settings sucks but oh well )

Change your LCD to either 240 or 320 dpi. I had the navigation bar disappears before when in landscape mode and this solves it.

And, the issue you were having with the installer was what I was referring to when I said to do a clean install. I am unsure about the navigation bar thing.

How do you change the dpi?
One of my many goals since I got my first Fire/Kindle, was to get Androids stock, live wallpapers working on the Amazon tablets...but without root. Thus far, I've been unsuccessful. However, since root was gained on the HD 10, and I bought one, I am able to provide to everyone a very sweet surprise.
I have an obsession with going through every file I can on every device I own, rooted or not, to find tricks and hacks to improve our devices, or to make them look better. Over time, I often times save cool things from these various devices in hopes they work on other ones. I own a Motorola Droid Razr M with KitKat 4.4.2, which unfortunately now, needs a new USB port. I saved a few things from it before it died. One of those things were the stock Android live wallpapers. I present to you all of those live wallpapers, in working order. You need a custom launcher that supports live wallpapers as you cannot set them via the settings menu. I use Nova Launcher.
How did I do that? Well if I just handed over the APKs and said here you go, they wouldn't work. One APK allows them to work only on KitKat devices. But I managed to track down a compatible, stock APK that allows all of them to run on Lollipop devices. Android created these to run on almost any device and beautifully. They adapt to your screen so they work on just about any Android version. I can even get them working on Marshmallow! Without further delay, I am posting screen shots of some of the best examples below the guide. WARNING: These screen shots do no justice. To really appreciate the awesome effect, you need to install them
1. Download all of the APKs attached at the bottom of this post.
2. Download and install a root file explorer. I use Root Explorer.
3. Copy each APK, one by one, to /system/priv-app. DO NOT INSTALL THEM!

So I've been trying and trying for a couple weeks to get these to work again. I have all the APKs on my PC so I would transfer them from there to the internal storage of my tablet and install Android Live Wallpapers and the LiveWallpaperPicker into /system/priv-app. They wouldn't work. None of them would. So tonight I looked up this thread I made right here and instead of using my PC, I downloaded them using the tablet, through chrome. And guess what, they work. All of them. I'm not sure why though. They are all the same APKs as the ones listed in my OP. So if anyone has had this issue installing them, you'll need to download them using the tablet.

Ahh. I've never used hijack with Nova while rooted. That's probably the issue. I don't think hijack supports live wallpapers, and if not, I don't think it can.
Well, got rid of launcher hijack and nova still works just fine. But still it keeps reverting back to whatever wallpaper I had before setting the live wallpaper every time I turn the screen off and on again.
I've tried everything I can think of and still can't get the live wallpaper to stay after turn the screen off and on again, it always switches back to whatever static wallpaper I had set before selecting the live wallpaper. Any suggestions?

I don't know if the settings apk will or will not work on 5.6.2.0. You can always try. Just backup your current one to storage before trying. If it doesn't work, you can just restore the old one. This won't cause anything to not boot. Worst case: settings force close.
Add new (old) live wallpaper
Small surprise. I've had this wallpaper laying around for a while, but it never worked. I managed to find out why: it was missing a needed library, which had to be installed into system. Though there was a problem. The file hasn't been around since jellybean. I happened to come across that file today. Reintroducing the Microbes LWP.
Little colorful Microbes float around in your background. More appear as you touch the screen so it's mildly interactive. Root is required for this paper:
1. Download the zip and extract the contents to internal storage of your tablet.
2. Using a root explorer, copy the file you just extracted, libmicrobes_jni.so, to /system/lib and set permissions to 644 (rw-r--r--). Reboot.
3. Download Microbes.apk (both will be posted here and in the OP). Create a folder in /system/priv-app named Microbes and set permissions to 755 (rwxr-xr-x).
4. Then copy Microbes.apk from internal storage to /system/priv-app/Microbes and set permissions to 644. Reboot.
5. Set the wallpaper. Enjoy.
.
I have tried this procedure several times on my rooted hd10 with 5.6.4.0 deodexed and when I reboot all the files disappear. Has anyone else had this problem?
