[Q] What does unmount/system do in cwm recovery? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I think I accidentally click it and I have no idea what it did, reboot and everything is fine.

It unmounts the system partition so you can troubleshoot use adb etc, it if necessary on recovery. once you reboot it will automatically mount itself.

I would get rid of ROM Manager IMO. Don't flash CWM with ROM Manager if you haven't done so.
Use this to get into recovery

Thanks for that, just asking is anybudy else having the problem that rom manager wont boot into recovery or a fix.....

Didnt work for me either. That was before i read to avoid it all costs. Its worthless to us at this point.

I just installed it to see and it work for me.
Booted into recovery, I remember a few weeks back there was an update to RM
which made boot into recovery work.
Like Kadin stated, it's not much use for the TF right now IMO.

Stuck on Bootlogo

I don't have any roms or restores on my tablet
I tried doing a wipe data/factory reset but it doesn't work
What do I do???

Question regarding recent guide posted in general for upgrading and rooting

I should have posted this in qa sorry.
OK I couldn't figure out after reading so I'll ask...
I'm on jb, locked bootloader, all stock. My goal is to simply get root back, no custom ROM.
Treat my question as if I just took it out of the box running jb.
If I simply unlock the bootloader and follow step 3, will that do the job, or am I missing something?
URL to the guide I speak of... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30516010

Can't follow link from my phone, but if yourw talking about Krabappel's guide then yes, just follow the directions after JB is installed and you are solid. Unlock bootloader, Flash recovery, flash root. Just did it and I was locked and stock with the OTA JB update

OK I've taken the plunge but having a slight problem...
Unlock good
Flash cwm recovery good..
Booted into recovery good..
Installing superuser zip bad... it seems cwm can't mount /sdcard. I'm using internal storage to try and do this. I have no external card. I saw an option to try and mount /sdcard but it simply said error mounting when I tried it. What should I do about this?

New to this device.

Is the toolkit on here still working? Also any fully stable fast jb rom ? At least 4.1? Thanks in advance.

No idea about the toolkits, since I've never needed it. If you dont want to risk bricking your device via bad toolkits, you can check out how to get nvflash (sorta like fastboot, but not) working on your device directly and use that to flash alternate recovery:
http://androidroot.mobi/2012/05/27/introducing-wheelie-nvflash-for-asus-transformer-tf101-b70/
As for ROM...
I recommend my CM10.1 builds. Stable. Has nightly builds if you want a constant stream of updates. About as fast as this device gets. Certainly much better than anything stock has to offer.
I would also recommend Timduru's Team EOS ROM. He does a fantastic job maintaining it and has rapid updates as well. It's not CM. It's Team EOS. It's different.
Both are 4.2-based. Try both and see which one you like

I know that PERI still works to install CWM, and also EasyFlasher works to root in APX mode.
The last time I flashed back to stock I used Wolf's Method 3 to root so I could jump straight to TWRP 2.3.2.3.
PERI installs a version of CWM. If you are going to run any 4.2 ROMs, you should use TWRP 2.3.2.3 or RaymanFX's 6.X.X.X recoveries to handle the new multi-user file structure.
EasyFlasher flashes 2.2.X.X TWRP. You can just replace the TWRP blob in the file structure with the 2.3.2.3 if you want and flash straight to 2.3.2.3.
I have gotten more into using adb and terminal commands with working on some boot animations, so I used Wolf's method to jump straight to TWRP.
Thank you guys

Sure.
I would still use TWRP myself, but you can just load the files you want to flash on the /sdcard/ directory.
I know that TWRP will not wipe the /sdcard/ directory unless you wipe the data partition. A factory reset in recovery only wipes the /data/ partition and skips the /data/media/ partition (/sdcard/).
Keep in mind, if you do not have a microSD and you get to a point where you cannot boot other than to recovery, you will need to use adb to push a zip file to the /sdcard/ to flash it.
IMO, it is worth the $10-$15 to get a small (4-16 GB) microSD to do nandroid backups and make it easier to flash ROMs.
Also, many of the CWM recoveries can only see the /sdcard/. I know that the RaymanFX Hybrid CWM 6.X.X.X has a few versions, Internal only, External Only and Hybrid (can see both internal and external) storage.
Thx.. yea ive been using nexus devices forever so ive lost all my micro sd lol

You need to hold those keys until the splash screen comes.
When it tells you to press vol up to boot recovery you release per +boom down and just press vol up.
It should then tell you it is boring recovery before the twrp spak screen appears.

Yea..that dont happen for me. Just boots back to os nooption to press up.. i guess i should have not been cheap andjust bought a nexus like im used to.

[Q] Scott's TF700T Recovery Tool Data Transfer Error

Hello all,
I'm new to rooting, and I'm running into a bit of trouble flashing TWRP onto my transformer. I've already unlocked the bootloader and used Scott's Tool to reboot into the bootloader. The tablet indicates that Fastboot USB protocol is running. But when I try to install the recovery.blob, I get the following error:
sending 'recovery' (7910 KB)...
FAILED (data transfer failure (Unknown error))
finished. total time: 0.028s
The tablet is running stock 4.2.1 (build 10.6.1.14.4) and I've already tried multiple USB cables and ports. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
Try rebooting your computer. Do you have usb debugging checked in developer options?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda premium
Yes, PC has been rebooted multiple times and USB debugging is enabled.
Adb installed on your computer? If youre still having problems, use moto chopper for root, then download goo manager from playstore, go into setting of that app, select install open recovery script = profit for you. It will install the latest version of twrp for you.

How did things go?

For some reason the adb binary that came with Motochopper would freeze after initializing. I replaced it with the one from Scott's Tools and then it was smooth sailing following your instructions. Thanks a million.
No problem...enjoy!
