[Q] ICS aospx - GoPhone SIM 3g/4g work? - HTC Inspire 4G

Has anybody tried to put a AT&T GoPhone SIM card on a HTC Inspire 4g with a ICS asopx MOD?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1460820
I've never got a successful internet connection, except for wifi, and I'm wondering if you see anything that indicates a reliable connection 2g/3g/4g or otherwise with the ICS mod?
I've been looking at APN settings, but non of them seem to work:

I'm just wondering if anybody got a good 3g connection with the ICS asopX on HTC Inspire....and what is your APN Setting?

Try using settings from third link but instead of leaving apn type blank use "default, supl, mms"

I finally got it to work, but I had to do a clean install, that is factory wipe under recovery mode and reinstall MRI aospX MOD. Apparently I was just installing previous aospX mods without total wiping..........I didn't want to reinstall my apps over and over again. The APN's in the aospX MOD work with GoPhone account at HSPA+ speeds, so kinda 4G, but on a GoPhone SIM Card.
And AT&T will tell you that GoPhone does not support HTC Inspire 4g phones, so ignorance is bliss, Better off getting information off the web.

Inspire 4G on a 3G Network?

Hello Everyone. I have been searching the forums for an answer to my problem but haven't found any info.
I recently purchased a Inspire 4G online with out realizing that there was no AT&T 4G coverage in my area. I also made a poor assumption that this phone would be backwards compatible to my current 3G service.
My question: Is this phone backwards compatible and I just don't know the proper settings or do I just stick it in a drawer and wait for AT&T to role out 4g in my area sometime in the fall. ( so they are saying )
I would appreciate any help
Thanx
I would assume it's backwards compatible. I just bought the same phone and the 4G in my area is spotty at best. The service icon usually shows 3G, but in some places it goes to H++ or whatever and is super fast. So I'm assuming I am just running regular 'ol 3G on my inspire most of the time.
What settings are you talking about on your phone? I just put my SIM in and it worked... Then I flashed with Cyanogen and it still worked great without changing any settings. If you have modified a bunch of the radio settings, maybe you should do a factory reset.
-Tracy
yes its backward compatible. it has everything from edge (2G) to hsdpa (3.5G)
Fully backwards compatible and you don't need to do anything settings-wise. When HSPA+ rolls out in your area, the phone will grab a signal automatically for you.
All of my internet apps error with a Connection Failure message an I constantly have a H+ over a check mark for my network icon never a 3G.
The check mark indicates that your data connection is not connected.

The phone will not show 3G, Only ones I've seen are H+, E, and G. And G had the same download speeds as H+ when I did a speed test.
Wrong..I have saw 3g on my phone before I rooted.

Thanx everyone for you prompt replies. Stopped by an "autherized AT&T reseller" and was told I needed a 4G SIM card. The rep installed the new card ( at no cost ) and I am back on the net. I had thought that I could simply insert my current SIM from my Capivate and be on my merry way, I was wrong.
Thanx again.
Yeah the owners manual indicates a 3g icon when on 3g too.

That's strange. When I got my Inspire I just swapped my 3g SIM from my Eternity II and was on my merry way.

Could be his SIM card just went bad and the timing was a coincidence. SIM cards aren't terribly reliable.
the H icon DOES mean you are on att 3G, they just screwed around with the icons for their devices. go into settings, about, and find the network status and see which you are connected to. it will likely say HSDPA which is att's 3G. even when HSPA+ does come along you will still see the H most likely...
Lol you're wrong that you were wrong. I use the same sim. It just needs to be provisioned for the right access point. This was confirmed by the ATT rep when I activated my phone.

[Q] HTC Sensation 4G No data

Hi guys I'm Aruman and I'm new on this forum, yesterday I recieved my HTC Sensation 4G, I order it from Amazon the normal HTC Sensation but they send me the T-Mobile HTC Sensation 4G, I've swapped the SIM card from my HTC Desire S to the Sensation 4G, The problem, I have no Data, but I can make calls just fine, I'm from the Caribbean I have no T-Mobile in my area, I've done the tinkering *#*#4636#*#* and then press “Phone Information” > Toggle Ciphering to OFF > Turn off Radio > Turn on Radio > Toggle Ciphoring to ON but still does not work, I've call my Subscriber and they told me the SIM I have is a 2G SIM, So this mean I have to buy a 3G SIM, do you guys think this is the porblem?
Anyways thanks a lot and let me know,
Aruman.
I had thirty problem in US when. got my phone too. i had to call T-Mobile and they have to change your plan to 4G in the system before I got my data working. once they did That it was working in 20 minutes. So in other words you have to have a 4g data plan for it to. work. hope this helps.
I think you should root your phone and flash one of the custom roms that has like the european base, and maybe it may work? like Android Revolution HD...
Check APN settings?

Possible fix to data connection issues

As with many skyrocket users, there seems to be trouble connecting to the AT&T data network for an extended time. the 4g icon indicates its connected but won't send or receive data unless packet data is disconnected and re enabled. After some hours of research and calls to customer service, I've found what could be a potential fix.
By dialing the ussd code ( *#*#4636#*#*) a menu comes up and gives you the options of
phone information
battery information
Usage statistics
And wifi information.
Under the phone information menu, an option for data network preferences appears at the bottom of the screen. By changing third setting, the connection issues should be solved...
however...
I can't seem to get any of the selections to stay. meaning, are I select my preference and exit, when I return to the screen its at its original setting. I believe it may change and stay if I rout which I haven't due to my phone being an AT&T company phone so if any rooted skyrockets would like to volunteer and test out my theory, we would all be greatly appreciated.

You are basically disabling the LTE radio (network) but it is temporary (for testing purposes). I think using a non-LTE APN will do the same thing and you can change it back when you are ready. Someone that knows more can correct me if I am wrong.
I used that method originally however I ran into the same issues. I was using the CINGULAR.WAP apn.
If anyone knows of another apn that I can test I would appreciate it

OK so this is what worked for me
For apn name i put AT&T and for apn type I put just : Phone and left everything else blank and even input the mms setting found online for at&t and that's got me hspa data so far

yes you have to add the other APNs for this to work. If you only have the PTA APN, it will only lock onto LTE if in a LTE area.
Now if you are rooted and running a ROM where you can change the network within the normal options area, you have to set the APN first then change to H+. It may fail the first time but try it again and eventually it will downshift to H+.

i m have unlocked skyrocket, currently in india using a 3g/4g sim card. i went through the *#*#INFO#*#* menu and selected "WCDMA Preferred" then i turned radio OFF and ON back again. since then it is set to "WCDMA Preferred" only and i m unable to change it.. Is it because i have only 3g available in india..?? also will I be able to change to "GSM/WCDMA/LTE AUTO" when i come back to United States???
AT&T Samsung Galaxy SII SGT-I727 data issues fixed ...
I broke my old HTC Inspire. I purchased a Samsung Galaxy SII SGH-I727 off of the eBay as a replacement.
When I moved the SIM card over everything was fine, except I had no data, even though I have a valid data plan. I still had wireless at home, but my data plan did not work when out on the street.
I called AT&T, told them the issue, and that I suspected that it had something to do with "LTE". They made some internal changes, which sounded like they activated LTE service for me. Data plan now working perfectly.

No 4G LTE

I'm running the latest stock JB Leak (K1), I've flashed the K1 and HE radios in CWM but all I ever get is a 3g signal in areas I'd usually get 4 bars of LTE.
I've already tried:
Flashing K1 and HE Radios in CWM
Restarting
Changing Network mode to CDMA/LTE from Global
Picking LTE - Verizon Internet in Access Point Names
After flashing a radio hitting Clear Cache and Dalvik Cache
Restarting without SIM in and then Restarting with the SIM
Thanks in advance.
What did you use to go from cdma to lte?

You've already tried what I would suggest:
Go to Settings, Wireless/More Settings, Mobile Networks, Network Mode, LTE/CDMA. Then Access Point Names, LTE.
The only time (with HE or K1) I can't pick up 4G well is in my house. I go outside and it picks it up, but inside will drop to 3G.
If it's an issue for you, then you may want to revert back to whatever Ice Cream Sandwich ROM you were using before, such as HE, G7, or F2.
If you did a backup in Clock Work Recovery, then you can just restore it.

Global (Whenever I switch to LTE/CDMA it eventually asks if I want to switch to global, no difference seen between them)
LTE/CDMA
GSM/UMTS
Hmm you might just have to wipe the phone and flash clean

I had to exchange my phone with Verizon
I just nandroided back to ICS, it's acting very funny.
I can get a LTE signal now but ONLY by going to an app (Phone Info) and switching from LTE/CDA/EvDo to LTE only. Also after switching to LTE it still only shows a signal of -120dBM (while still showing an LTE icon), after I switch the screen off and then back on it shows bars and the dBM starts to register normally.
I can still not get LTE to work regularly with CDMA/EvDo and haven't seen it switch to LTE once without me changing it.
I've tried the K1, JB and HE stock radios.
Would clearing all data before doing the nandroid do anything?
bumping
Fixed the problem, I got everything cleaned up and back to stock (using the guide that's pinned in the Q/A forum and went into Verizon, they gave me a new SIM Card and I can now get 4g LTE again, still on stock, will be nandroiding when I get out of class.
If there are any probems after the nandroid I'll post them here, if not everything went according after the nandroid.
So if anyone in the future is having this problem it could be the SIM card.

I was just going to recommend trying the Re-provision code (only works on early ICS builds), and if that didn't work getting a new SIM card.
Glad to hear the SIM card fixed your issues!
I had the same issue. But a new sim didnt fix the issue. Replacement on the way.

Only 2g networks, no lte

Recently got a i727 with stock jb. First time with lte and was impressed on the speed. Flashed Philz cwm and cm 10.2. Everything works great execpt i can only have 2g on mobile data. If i deselect the 2g networks (saves battery) i lose all data connections altogether, regardless of the network i try to put it on (like lte/gsm/wcdma). I can still make voice calls and recieve sms but no data. From there, the only way to get data back on is to click 2g networks and start wifi. When i turn wifi back off the 2g starts up again. I understand att being RATT-locked, but wouldnt that mean i cant select my network, not limit my lte? Could this be a radio issue or something in the kernel? It runs the i727UCNJ1 radio, wich is the latest. LTE worked on stock JB, but wanted CM10 so i could use it as needed without killing battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Philz touch 6.48.4 (cwm v6.0.5.0)
CM 10.2.0 (4.3.1)

I don't think you mentioned what network you're on. If you're on anything other than AT&T, you'll probably have to flash a different radio. There are a few listed in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785999
If you have service with AT&T, I'd suggest that you go into Settings/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names and check the APNs. If you already have some APNs listed, make sure that the "phone" APN is selected and not "pta." Or you might need to manually put in a new APN.
Sorry, I am on att. And yes, after researching I did try to flash to two different radios. The ucmc then the rogers. I even found how to put in new apn's but still nothing. Strange thing is in the mean time I have flashed slimbean and reflashed cm and both still had 2g only.
So last night I flashed the stock jb with cwm from the sticky and now 4g is back on stock like it was before I put cm 10 on the first time.
I like the ui on cm10 but whats the point of an lte phone if I cant use lte? Now the trick is finding why it would only use edge. If anyone has insight im more than open.
Edited to give a big thanks to mohan_kr for the info ive been reading.
