Dadgumit people! Read!!!
Try flashing the 10/17 build or invisiblek's or aeroevan's latest... Then go to settings > mobile > CDMA subscription and change it to ruim/sim and toggle airplane mode.
If that doesn't work, there's plenty of people here who would be glad to teach you how to Odin. OR just read one of the 7 other threads like this one and you'll find the Odin instructions.

Ajrty,
I am in the same boat as the above people.
I flashed back to stock rooted ICS (root66) backup that I have via TWRP. Z NOT via Odin.
Once I was on ICS I did the 2767.. trick and it rebooted my phone, I then flashed back to Clean ROM and still have the issues..
Do I need to UN root and lock via Odin and then try this thing?
What the heck is going on here!
Thanks

Flash the stock ics image, repair your eri and imei, and do a factory format to get it back

You most likely lost you imei/min or something, you can check in settings>about phone>status. Easy way to correct it is to flash a older stock ICS image and use the reprovision code. Flash this in odin then type this in the dialer *2767*3855# and that should fix ya back up. Flashing anything carries a risk of dropping your imei but it happens much more on AOSP roms.

What exactly are we supposed to read. Clearly all these guys know how to odin. Your instructions while potentially helpful aren't on the op for the cm 10.1 rom so what have we failed to read? The 13 million other posts?
The issue is the 10.1 build being hugely flawed with no warning and how to remedy it. It happened to every other guy posting on this thread. Clearly it's not an isolated incident. So thank you for your suggestion and calm down a smidge please.

There's no point in having 20 threads asking the same question.
No my instructions aren't on the first post for the cm10.1 thread, but "don't flash an official build" is.
The "remedy" has been posted over and over. Flash unofficial > settings > mobile > fix settings and toggle airplane mode. Tell all your friends.

I had the same issue with 10.1
I used how to for soft brick to get back to stock, then used how to repair iemi/roaming issue
Follow thoes 2 guides and youll be good, it worked for me
Just make sure that you unlock your bootloader again and reflash cwm from rom manager
Also be prepared to reflash the cm10 nighty from get.cm (make sure it is 10 not 10.1) because verison will push a software update without even going into setting/about phone/software update
Last of all you will need to update your baseband/modem

I flashed CM10.1, first time losing my data.. got it back by ODIN to stock, then typing his magic code in above.
Love you

I found a quick fix
Ok here is how to fix it I just sorta stumbled upon this.. Re flash cm10.1 when it is first activating either pull your sim or go into airplane mode by pulling down with two fingers from the top and accesing quick settings. then finish the setup over wifi- turn the phone off pop your sim out and put it back in and reboot. now when you take off airplane mode it should be fixed but it wont activate so just use Odin and re-flash root66

I heard the airplane fix is in the CM thread where it belongs. It is not a Q&A thread if it is a known issue with a particular rom. It belongs in that rom thread.

i had the same problem, flash back to the stock rom and dial *2767*3855# it will re-provision your phone and you wont be roaming any longer

How to Fix maybe
First, I installed back to stock settings and radio. I followed the instructions in this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1762709
I did the stuff in section 5. Including Flashing a Stock Radio. So I went back to the VRALG1 4.0.4 ROM.
And I did the I535VRLHE radio.
But it still didn't work. BUT, once in stock settings, I did the reprovisioning.
*2767*3855#
And then that finally worked, it went through, and my phone activated.
Credit to nertskull
This worked for me and i was in the same situation as you

Please help me!!!!!!
I have the same issue with the roaming and am not able to make calls, txt, or data. I have dont all of these steps. Back to stock and put the magic number in an still the same. Thank you in advance

P.S I was going to flash the stock Rom with Odin I have that setup but no Rom. Ideas?
Your ERI might be wrong and say you're roaming when you're not. I thought that tool had an ERI fixer also. If it doesn't, try this:
Back up everything you want that is on your internal storage, put it on an external SD or your computer. Then dial *2767*3855# on stock touchwiz. It will wipe your phone and reprovision it. Should fix the roaming issue.

Try running the ERI repair tool in the linked thread. You need to be running the LF2 modem. If you arent, you can download it from the second link. You can flash .zip modems in recovery, or .md5 modems in Odin.

You just take a breath. OK? I was there with old miui. I had the roaming triangle. I've been doing this for a few years or so and never had this happen. I got new sim ...boom problem solved. Yes I did EVERYTHING..lol
Edit. First Odin back to stock. But that didn't work for me either but worth a shot. You tried a factory data reset from stock backup too? If that doesn't work. Its your sim card is fried. When you call out do you get the credit card option to make call? If so just get new sim. Then stick it in and it will re sign
No worries bro

First off wrong forum this is for development not data issues.
If you read the CM 10.1 thread things that worked was flashing an unofficial CM10.1 build which you can find on rootzwiki or try using odin to revert back to stock touchwiz.
Also try going through the setup wizard on stock touchwiz rom after you go through it the first time.

First, check if your imei is intact. If so just odin back to ics stock, and to reprovision code, notw that it will delete your internal sdcard and I think extcard also. The code is *2767*3855#

[Q] Roaming issue on VZW SGS3

Hey guys, I am at the end of my rope here, so maybe you can help me out.
I have been dealing with the Media service bug that drains battery super fast for the last few days on my wifes rooted SGS3, and I have been jumping between roms, deleting SD files, searching for corrupt apps/media all to no avail. Tonight, in an effort to fix this issue, I flashed the most recent CM10 nightly as I heard it had a fix for this issue. I have no idea if that is true, because when I got to the setup screen after flashing, I kept getting an error that said that setup crashed and could not run. I had to boot back in to recovery, flash again, only to find the same error.
I then attempted to flash clean rom, except now I see that her phone is always roaming where my Note2 right next to it is on 4G. I flashed an older CM10 nightly for her, and the same issue popped up where it is only roaming.
Did the failed CM10 flash screw something up? How can I get her off roaming and back on 3/4G? Thanks!

OK, so I was able to get signal back (shows 4/3G), however she is unable to actually text or call from her number. She can use google voice though, so I am guessing it is something specifically with her number. Maybe the IMEI thing you mentioned. Assuming she has her signal back, would dialing that set of numbers reactivate her, or would I still have to do the ODIN steps?
It there is data then that dialer code should fix the calling, but you need to be in ics to do it

Yeah, I am pretty sure she has data. She is not at home, and when she left a bit ago we thought all was well (since she had the 4G indicator whereas before it said roaming) but she just used GVoice to text me to say that she cannot call or text using her VZW credentials. When you say that she needs to be in ICS, would any ICS rom do? She is in the newest version of Cleanrom right now, so I will have to flash something else I think. As for using ODIN, that is kinda out of the question because we are on vacation and the internet here sucks. It would take 2 weeks to download the stock VZW image, but if that is the only option then I guess that is how i goes. Thank you in advance for all your help!

Im actually downloading a torrent of the stock image for regular desktop ODIN and it is moving fairly quickly. That being said, using a custom rom would be easier (wouldnt I not have to use ODIN at all, just flash it like a normal rom?). If that is the case, can I download your route 66 rom, boot into recovery, wipe, flash then use the dialer code?
EDIT: Whoops, I misunderstood your previous post. I think we are talking about the same thing. I am torrenting the route 66.tar file right now. You are suggesting that I use VZW 4G on her phone to dl the tar file then flash with mobile ODIN? I have never used mobile ODIN to my knowledge so I am not sure how to go about that.
EDIT 2: I just checked out mobile ODIN on the market, and that seems easy enough. So I just finish this .tar dl, put it on her SD, load the app and follow its directions to flash it. Once that is flashed, reboot and dial that code. Then Flash whatever rom I want (say, back to cleanrom). Is that about right?

That's pretty much it, with mobile Odin you'll just click open file. It will put the different parts (kernel, recovery, etc) in the correct section. Then you click flash, support easy and faster then normal Odin. Also if you make a backup before doing this you can just restore your backup after fixing the network problem.

You are awesome! I am sure you factored this in to your suggestion, but if I backup her current rom, then ODIN, then restore, it will not undo what I did with ODIN, correct? Again, I am pretty sure it wont, but I was also pretty sure I knew what I was doing when I flashed CM last night and look how that turned out. Thanks again!

Haha, this is why CM warns us not to flash the nightlies unless we know what we are doing, which you and I did not I guess.
Basically, to get your cell signal back you need to flash back to a different firmware version. You do this through a program called ODIN which is a desktop program for Windows or a paid app in Android. I am going the paid app route mostly because it is a bit easier, but the desktop version is free.
I have not tested the solution yet, but I have read on other posts that it works. If you do the app route, you select the firmware file with the app, run the process (it should be self-explanatory in the app), then once the new firmware is on, you dial a special verizon code to get your signal stuff fixed. Below are the files you need.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762204 (this is the firmware file that you will flash using ODIN)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.mobileodin.pro&hl=en (this is the mobile ODIN app)
Dial *2767*3855# once you have the firmware on to in theory fix the signal issue
After that, you can reflash your rom, but do not flash the CM nightly again!

OK, so a bit of a hiccup. I ran ODIN with the .tar file you suggested, and after going through the expected flashing and what not, the screen went black with my LED notification light blinking blue. I pulled the battery after about 10 minutes of this, booted into recovery then rebooted and it did the same thing. Ideas?

Any idea what I should be doing or what I did wrong?

That's stock recovery. Not sure why it's not booting correctly. I would say just use desktop Odin and re flash
If I helped you in some way.... pass on the favor and help the next person!
Did you get this fixed?

Make sure you have the drivers installed and have rebooted computer. Also did you verify the md5 of your download

I did not reboot after the driver install, so I will do that. As for the MD5, what is that and how do I verify? You are talking about the firmware download, right?

Phone Number/MIN changing along with CDMA subscription

New issue, maybe I narrowed it down,
My phone number only seems to switch when I'm under "NV" for my CDMA subscription. It appears to be randomly switching back to NV periodically. If I put it in airplane and switch it back, it will correct my phone number and allow some messages to be sent. Any info on what settings should be there how to keep that from switching or any other info regarding this?
My phone number is currently showing up as 000-000-3720
My MIN is currently showing up as 0000003720
I do have a IMEI and MEID

Which rom are you using that causes this issue? Have you done any of these steps to resolve it?

It is with any and every rom. Is the link you provided typical of only Cyanogen roms? I have done the first step but it only temporarily fixes it and then it automatically reverts back. I have done the second step with the sim removed. Hopefully that works. Ill keep you updated.

That's not Cyanogen specific it's AOSP rom specific. If it keeps happening to you a lot then the only thing I could tell you is to stick with TW roms.

I used touchwiz roms and they were rebooting me after sending these texts.
I tried the root66 file and I accidentally flashed it through "phone" instead of "PDA". Stupid stupid mistake. It just stayed on the boot screen forever. What do i do in this situation? Please help

Hmm, that may be a problem. What does it do after you pull the battery? Can you pull the battery then try booting back into download mode? Cuz there's not much I can suggest unless you can boot back into download mode.
I can get into download mode. I guess im going to try and follow one of these Unbrick tutorials with odin..
You need to Odin again . use the invisiblek file wipe. Put in DL mode and Odin again. Upon boot factory reset call Verizon as and they will provision. It will appear to fail. But then flash aosp and then reset ruim sim from nv then set to automatic then reboot. That is how I fixed the issue many times.

Good, Odin flash (in PDA!) either VRALG1 or VRBLK3 tar using Droidstyle's guide in the dev section. Root/unlock afterwards. You shouldn't need the soft brick method.

Just recovered neighbors s3 using this method. Usually you won't need provisioning but if you do either use th method in threads located in xda or if unable call big red and they will eventually do it . Which in this case I had her call. I was in her home. Lol What it does is reprovision SIM. And usually will fail on their end but flashing back to aosp and toggling the above setting you should be ok . I'm not sure but honestly I've done this many times for people and myself. There are other ways and in some cases provisioning isn't needed...anyway good luck ..let us know ..I just couldn't believe as I was responding to your post she had knocked 30 minutes later...lmao. . Peace

Start at the beginning. When you rooted your phone what ROM/build were you on? Stock? What Recovery are you running? Did you make a backup? In my experience, you usually get a system 7 error when the download is bad, (did you check the MD5?) or if you're trying to flash a ROM that doesn't match your current system (IE: trying to flash a JB ROM when you're currently on ICS.)
The more info we have, the better we can help you.

Uh status 7 is assert protection so its a mismatch usually in device info typically model numbers, and has nothing to do with bad downloads.

Thanks for helping
I had a stock rom on it and found a youtube video referencing the how to guide in this forum, walked everything through step by step but didn't do the twrp thing, only odin . Tried it, didn't work. Didn't checkthe MD5 as it wasnt referenced in the video (have since seen it in the thread).
I'm gonna try and flash a stock rom with odin if I can and start over and ignore the youtube video.
At the moment Odin is the only program on my computer that talks to my phone so I'm hoping that works, just gotta find how to do it...

thanks, on it now. Just need to get it back to stock with Odin then I'll try again when I understand what I'm doing more.
Anyone feeling charitable and want to tell me how to flash the stock rom with Odin? I'd appreciate it.

Best of luck mate, reply here if you have any issues. And for pete's sake, next time, instead of watching a YouTube video, read read read and re-read the forums. Once that's done, read them again. Only then, start flashing.

That's an alternate form of DL mode. Odin a stock ROM from that screen. Read the Noobs Guide. Odin is finicky so pay attention to the guide. Then read it again. Once you've read and comprehend it all spin in a circle saying "I deserve this" three times and Odin will grant your wish. lol

Got it working, used TWRP to flash the latest RC CM 10.1
Got it all going now after a minor heart attack and a few more grey hairs. Just gotta figure out why the wifi isn't working at all now. Can't get it to turn on.
Your original 'system error 7' problem was most likely caused by trying to flash a newer ROM with an older version of CWM or TWRP. Glad you got the phone up, can't help you with the wifi problem, sorry. Although, what modem did you flash, if any? System Settings -> About phone -> Baseband version?

I flashed the UXUMA7 radio, didnt really do much, it worked before.
Still can't figure out the Wifi though :-/ just straight up won't turn on.
If you are on a newer CM 10.1 , the only supported radio is UCMC1, UXUMA7 is really old. That may be why wifi is not working.
UXUMA7 and UCMC1 are very similar. First one is the Rogers and second is att's release which is usually late by a month or so after rogers. Bottom line both will work.
Have your radiofile.zip, cm10.1.zip, and gapps from 20130301 all on your SD card.
Do you have a back up, nandroid? If not do it now.
Go to recovery and Clean up well:
Go to mounts and format data, system, cach twice or three times. Go to advanced and clean dalvik cache. Don't reboot
Now installing in this order:
- radio
-cm10.1
-gapps
Now reboot your phone.
Wait until it is finished and leave it untouched for 10 minutes to settle down and do its thing.
Then turn it off back on and enjoy.
Your noob status will start to fade if you do a clean install
