So I have nokia n8 phone and I want to use it as wifi hotspot but my note 10.1 (n8010) cant't find it. Is there way to enable ad-hoc so my note would find the wifi?
Second question is that I rooted the tab and tested some other things and when I flashed it back to stock firmaware which i found from sammobile the note lost the lock screen and I don't find how to enable it anymore.
Did you try enable hotspot on N8 then use laptop to connect to it ? Maybe its N8's problem, not Note10.1

Yes it works fine with my desktop and laptop. I readed somewhere that symbian can't do anything else than ad-hoc wifi and android does't find it. I know that ad-hoc can be enabled in some android devices but can it be done on note 10.1?

hello friends i have galaxy p6200 with andriod 3.2 i cant fine any ad hoc wi fi i need to enable it i realy need it to use befor i hav nook color with no problem can any one hel
What did you do to enable the Adhoc support ? Are there any specific errors your getting?
Just in case: a quick google search on the 6200 shows packages that enable adhoc Wifi and support your device.
i want to use my iphone wifi in my p6200 and i want to use my nokia net in p6200 with jokiu spot but my galaxy cant fine any of them ? any one help plz
Strange issue just 'cuz if WiFi HotSpot is in a visibile/searchable mode (has no SSID hidden), your Tab has no reason for not working.
Did you try to search your AdHoc HotSpot by any other device? If so, did it work?

I'm trying to connect my Note to an Ad-Hoc connection. I'm sure there is something obvious I am missing for why I can't see the Ad-Hoc connection from my note 10.1 but can't figure it out and didn't see anything here.
I posted my solution in another thread here with same topic. Refer to it. But the FoxFi app is the solution to this. Google the apk because it was removed from marketplace. Install it on phone. Then install foxfi add on, on phone, that's in marketplace. Then you should be good to go. Tablet will now pick up your tethering signal. Root is not needed either(for phone or tablet). App works great on pure stock. Works fine on my pure stock SG3.

I'm not really looking for a tether solution. I can tether to my phone just fine. I specifically want to know if there is a way to get the Note 10.1 to connect to and ad-hoc network for another reason. I do presentations and sometimes. Often I can do them right from the note using the All-Share Cast Dongle, but sometimes (due to issues w/ Dongle working with certain adaptors) I have to have my laptop connected to the projector and want to control it with remote desktop with my tablet. I want to do this without relying on my host having wifi I can use. So I need ad-hoc connectivity to connect to my laptop directly without having to lug around a wireless router.
On another note, out of curiosity I tried FoxFi and it doesn't work on my phone anyway. The built-in (stock) tether app works great and is all I need.
Lopk for a wifi direct type program for your laptop or try bluetooth dun. Type connection. Pdanet could ne a solution just not sure. Some type of device to device metwork is needed .if your laptop has iis there could be a solution in it.

Hi!
I want to ask you: Have you solved this?
I also need to connect to an ad-hoc.
I've read: on some other android devices they root and replace their wpa_suplicant. Does anybody know if it is also possible on Note 10.1 ?
Sry for my english...
Thx
Never did get it to work. I'm on stock without root and just being lazy. Accomplished my task with a $20 wifi router.

Has anyone been successful in getting wifi tethering (mobile hotspots) to work on a CM10 rom? I use wifi tether for root users. And it seems to work when I connect from a laptop or PC with wifi but it just doesn't seem to wanna work when I try to connect another android device such as an sgs3. Is there some kinda setting or something I'm missing? I'm using a P6200

hi,
searched a long time for the solution of the same problem... seems it´s like a strategic plan of t he producers... if it would be easy nobody would pay the 100 euros difference to upgrade to a 3g version...
found a solution (not perfect, only for emergency cases) for me: i installed open garden wifi tethering (from market) onto my htc hd2 - miui (stable version 6 by langthang). hence in its settings: activate "use bluetooth connection (pan)". enable bluetooth on the tab.
start tethering by pushing the large wifi-symbol on handyscreen. give superuser permission; confirm the pairing. just wait some seconds; then you have to enter into the settings of the new paired bluetooth device on the tab (in my case its simply called hd2) and activate the internet-option.
Now it should work (you can see the traffic on the handy-screen)

My tab 2 is on stock 4.1.2 now. Not rooted. The prob is i use my laptop's wifi as a hotspot using adhoc connection. My xperia (u20i) works great and doing it for a long time. But my tab to can't find the connection.. It does find my xperia's wifi tether but not my laptop's adhoc. I'm running windows 7. I read somewhere we need to change some system files to make 4.0+ devices to recognize adhoc. But my xperia is running cm9 and it's working fine... Any solution for my problem anyone????
I bought a straight talk Samsung galaxy j7 sky pro and can't find the hotspot if it even has one. So I installed a hotspot from the Google play store and it says I have to root before it can be used with this phone. Can someone please tell me what that is and how to fo it? I tried looking it up on Google but I couldn't make heads or tails of it.
This works
I have this phone for straight talk and i use PDAnet for android. If you have a laptop with hotspot capabilities, you can use PDAnet on there for a USB tether. The other alternative that might work for you ( did not work for me due to some dumb error) is FoxFi. FoxFi is compatible with PDAnet too. You can use a Bluetooth connection too for some devices.
Hope it works!
What does it matter what "hotspot" capabilities you have on any other device other than a standard wifi connection? And pdanet is used on the pc or other device? What exactly turns wifi hotspot feature on on this phone according to your solution?
So I was able to connect my windows laptop to the network but not my other android phone. I have PdaNet installed on it too. So if anyone has any tips on how to get android to Android to work with this phone pls advise. I'm using the j7 Sky Pro for straight talk

I also have a J7 sky pro and have noticed when trying to connect to a pdanet hot spot (using wifi direct hotspot on another device and connecting to it with the J7) that some devices have communication issues that are hit or miss. My wife has the galaxy note 9. When hers is used as the wifi direct hot spot it will connect to the network using WPS but pdanet bugs out or something. After wps process finishes it says "WPS complete, Waiting for wifi connection. It remains stalled out there. However I did manage to get it to sucessfully connect to it ONCE (1 out of about 400 attempts) I did manage to get it to connect outside of pdanet for internet connection by using the wifi connection settings and connecting to the network there but also hit the advanced options and then set the proxy to manual then used 192.168.49.1 as the proxy address & port 8000. that allowed me to gain internet with the j7. As i said though it so far has just been with the Note 9. A friend with an S9 set his up and I could connect to it just fine. So I don't know if it is pdanet actually nerking out and having issues or if it is the communication between the devices. If you are trying to use your J7 as the hotspot set it up as wifi direct instead of the foxfi hotspot then use connect to pdanet hotspot from the other device to connect to the the J7
