Google Currents 2.0 - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi all, I recently got my Transformer Infinity and am thrilled with it
However, I've come across a nagging issue after Google Currents' update to version 2.0. I can't seem to find any way to unsubscribe from a feed, notably the feeds that Currents "suggests". It's really irritating. I've looked everywhere, but the closest I've come was to "customize" a source and deselect all but one feed from that source. That helps with the clutter, but I can't deselect the last feed in any of the sources! Any clues?
Alternatively, are there any other good news and feed aggregators like Currents out there?
Thanks!

I would like to know this too

I dont like the update to Currents or Pulse. Currents is slower than before. and Pulse, there is no update refresh. Am i missing something.

Remove subscription/feed
If anyone's still wondering, I've found out how to remove subscriptions/feeds on 2.0.
You have to go to the screen with the side bar showing the feed categories. At the end of each category there's a "customize" button, tap it and you can unsubscribe from the feeds in that category. Convoluted, but hey, now I can at least regain control of my feeds

whats everyones favorite note app

just curious to see what everyone is using to take and jot down notes. for awhile I was using gdocs, than ak notepad. and now springpad. At first spring pad seemed a little weird, but love the sync and web features. and the app has a catalog for everything possible, along with pictures. and imo one of the cleanest and best UI's for any android app.
www.springpadit.com is the site
I haven't checked out spring pad but recently I've been using a really cool app called sticky (from market). It sync with calendar has like nine different sub pages and custimizable, but the thing I like most is the widget, not too in ur face reminder but works well

I Like Note Everything its great does it all as title says
ak notepad
or
color note
I like springpad. It automatically saves everything you do so when i reflash me phone i just have to sign in and i get it all back. And it has allot of options, such as grocery list and such.
I like 3banana. Like some others, you get to save your notes on the cloud and you also get to tag notes which is pretty cool, too.
I came over from an iphone so I was using simple note. I still have it syncing to my laptop and really like the web interface, so I have been using solid note.

New Facebook app

Is anyone else not seeing the new Facebook app in the market? Or when you to the online market, it says compatible with TF?

The 1.6? For all the previous excitement it's not very amazing.
It comes up as not compatible with Asus Transformer. (Maybe a tablet version planned at some point?)
I'll probably just Dropbox it and install it anyway.
Yup, they've removed tablet support. It's basically a downgrade, and it wasn't a very good app in the first place. It lacked even basic functionality from the website, such as the ability to ignore posts from "friends" [eg. bands, products, etc.] that you've ignored on the website. There's no mention of that being fixed in this release anyway, so no big loss -- the app's nearly unusable in its current state, as my friends' posts are hidden in a huge wall of advertising from all the pages I'm a fan of (but don't really want to read the ads from).
yes....the FB app sucks.
Try the alternative app written by a member on XDA here...its' called "Friend Me" and it's really nice.

I've been using Friendme and FriendCaster and they work just fine. Though you might as well use the browser based version anyway. For me the only real use of the app is to integrate it with your contact list and to get desktop notifications. None of these apps do this. I'd like to see facebook integration to the level of where HTC Sense is. Love the notifications on my phone and the contact integration. I miss that when not using my phone. But hey, nothing is perfect.
My sole concern with these third-party apps is that it'd be very easy to make one that works just fine, but also phones home with your username and password. There's no way to audit code and confirm it doesn't do so (and even if there was, I'm not a programmer and would have to rely on somebody else's opinion).
That said, for those who are happy to trust such things, it's great that somebody's making options -- Facebook's own one totally sucks.
Attached Facebook 1.6 taken from my phone... works just like the old version on our TF (still lame, but it has notifications lol).
same here I can get to the Download page on the Market, but it wont download at all!! you can access it thru a direct link or qr code
app is better but there's no option to view your friends photo
I find how Developers blacklist certain phones being overused to much. Clearly the Facebook app runs on tablets and works, so why they would blacklist it is beyond me. All it does is limit their users. If it runs and works don't blacklist it is incompatible.
Same thing has happened to Words with Friends -- granted, it doesn't scale perfectly to a tablet screen, but it's passable. Not sure if my installed version will even receive updates, so I just update on my Evo and the BT File Transfer the app over to my TF.

Awesome! Thank you for uploading that. Exactly what I wanted until the official version for tablets comes out.

It's being speculated that Facebook blacklisted all honeycomb devices because they will have a tablet version out soon - considering how slow and lame the development has been on the phone version, a tablet version seems very unlikely, but who knows?!

Has anyone noticed that third-party facebook apps, like Friendcaster and FriendMe don't show all the posts that Facebook.com and the official Facebook app do? I was blown away when I visited Facebook.com to see how many posts and pictures were up that never showed on FriendCaster. It's like it blocked 30% of my friends wall messages

Why not just use your browser to get to facebook? The TF is large enough for you to view facebook as if you were using a laptop.

The same reason why we use a gmail app for getting mail, or a twitter app for tweets - apps are more convenient and offer OS integration. Of course, if they only provide some functions of the full site, they are less useful

Tweetdeck has facebook integration. Works really well for me except for pic uploading.

Pictures have leaked of the tablet version running on WebOS, so I would assume that an Android version wouldn't be too far behind.

Flipboard vs Google Currents

Having used the much hyped Flipboard app since a week and the under estimated Google currents app for months, my comparison might approve biased.
The performance of the Flipboard app is far below satisfaction,I agree that further updates will improve that, but come'on man, the app is a major attraction feature of galaxy s3 and so needed to be more polished. It maybe that my 320x480 screen and lame processor might be the reason, but still Google Currents, too, wasn't made specifically for my device and it runs far more smoothly, duh.
The most annoying part is that many of the stories open in full site mode, not in magazine mode, unlike Google currents. The full view takes hours to open on a slow connection, so again Currents is the winner.
What do you think? Don't come yelling at me if you are a Flipboard fanboy and find something wrong in my post.
I'm a Flipboard fanboy and find everything wrong with your post!!1!
Just kidding.
Having used both, I have to say I don't see anything special on Flipboard other than the nice-looking animations it has. The clunkiness was probably your device though. Now, don't take it as if I'm bashing your phone or anything. I'm just saying... do remember it's being pushed first to a major device with impressively powerful specs to then start working with the lower-specced devices, as have others done before with other apps (I'm almost sure of this).
I do prefer Currents, though, for the same reasons you said. Full article is something I'd prefer as an option, like opening on the browser. Magazine style is much better for reading on phones.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I myself bash my phone,it's dumb,it's lame, but it's still not as crap as iPhones because it's an Android
I prefer Currents as a reading app because articles are more accessible, and it's much easier to navigate. In Currents, while you are reading an article from a subscribed source, you can conveniently tap an icon and there pops a list of other articles from the same source with headlines and snippets for you to check at a glance what is of interest to you. As for Flipboard, yes, the pictures are big and nice, but navigating within it is just so inefficient. I actually feel "isolated" in the app. I need to read quickly over lunch, so Flipboard is just not for me. Actually my favorite reading app is nether Currents nor Flipboard, it's Pulse News.
Yeah,I have used pulse too and see of it's features, like disabling image loading when not on wifi and it's interface are better than currents, btw flipboard home screen is the worst, wasting all the screen estate
Sent from my painfully slow connection, so consider pressing thanks to provide some relief
I have used both as well and updated Flip to 1.8.4 just two days ago.
The thing i like about flipboard...FB / Twitter integration...THAT'S IT
refresh is quite slow on flipboard...and what is up with just 4 pages?? Then you have to go and click more and view rest of your topics to choose from.not cool...
I like Currents...i like that it's true magazine style as even the fliping is left to right like reading a magazine rather than flipping from bottom..(flip style)...
Currents also seems to refresh quite quickly..if G DOGS can incorporate FB / Twitter / G+ in currents...that would be AWESOME....
I was so hype when the apk got posted. And to be honest I'm still using flud lol. Its nice but I like fluid more. On a side note that was the only thing my iPhone friend would say he wouldn't get a android. Now its on it he came up with some other bull
Flipboard content seems limited. Maybe I haven't explored it enough. I too like that you can add your FB/Twitter feeds to it. I don't post much, so it works great for keeping up.
I currents, also.
Flipboard is more for tablets rather than phones. I think that Currents is better on a phone but on a tablet, nothing can beat Flipboard. I'm using it on my iPad 3 and it is amazing app. Just my 2¢
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
I have it on my iPad, too. I always thought it was limited. I hate that it just stops updating after a set number of pages.
I think flipboard shows more content, at least that's how I feel. In currents there is only this one banner area and the icons below doesn't show any info about new articles. While flipboard shows lots of pictures. Other than that I've found one big flaw in each of the apps. Please correct me if It's wrong and explain me how
Flipboard lacks offline support
Currents doesn't seem to have a way to favorite items?
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA
Flipboard and Pulse both are about or below 3mb. In comparison why is Google Currents a bloated 7+mb? I guess because it shows bigger pictures ؟ :-/
Pulse seems good - but they should definitely allow users to reorganize pages. Also the 12 feed per page limitation doesn't make sense, especially because you can't club multiple feeds together in one feed or line.
On the other hand, I know it is probably a matter of personal preference, but I feel both Google Currents and Flipboard sorely lack the ability to allow continuous vertical scrolling on articles. On Flipboard it does happen for most articles but not all, and Google Currents seems determined to pagify every article it finds. This is very annoying to me especially as a smartphone user.
So which one do you end up using?
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
I have ruled out Google Current... wish it could show vertical scrolling articles, but paginating every story is unacceptable for me, and is a complete deal breaker.
I am evaluating Flipboard & Pulse now. Both are good, but perhaps I am slightly inclined towards Pulse. It allows me to see all headlines at a glance and also shows vertical scrolling feed for all articles. I am planning to try Yahoo Pipes to combine multiple feeds into one.
Pulse is my current favorite, and as far as pagifying every content is considered, I'm ok with that, because if I want to see full web pages, I'm better off with my opera mini which loads the story 3x faster
Yes but imagine, these readers could do it with zero lag as they are loading the story anyway. Pulse, though, doesn't fall into this category - it doesn't paginate anything (thankfully).
I like Filpboard better because it can suggest content sources for me. For example if I want to read about all things Hockey, it automatically suggests a bunch of articles for me. Currents doesn't do that. I select ONE source for Current and that's all it will ever show me (At least in my exploring of the app).
both are really good but i find myself using currents more. as beautiful as flipboard is, i prefer being able to see multiple headlines at once, and the ability to search through all your news sources which you don't seem able to do from flip.
Taptu
What about Taptu? It has that excellent scrollable news widget and you can combine rss feeds.
Have you guys tried feedly?

Goodbye folks!

I just wanted to say thanks to all who helped on this forum, I realized that there is a lot of smart folks in this forum!
I sold my Infinity and decided to move over to the Asus Vivo RT.
FYI, I do miss some things about Infinity and Google like the notification bar, apps the screen. Those were on my “pros" list to keep the Infinity. Not enough to sway me.
The first thing I noticed about the Vivo is that it is smooth! No “wait" in the browser for it to crash, no hangups after a couple of days of pushing it (that's why it is charging now). I hope someday it will get chrome. IE is slow.
My biggest fear was missing the screen, but folks let me tell you, it is almost no difference! Netflix works!
The “pros“ for Windows, full office experience, the ability to print on my home printer without an app, Remote desktop, sky drive, multiuser support, split screen.
I can go on, but really just wanted to say thanks!

" I hope someday it will get chrome."
You're out of luck, MS will not allow Windows RT to run alternate browsing engines, there can be other browsers but they must use the IE engine. No way Google will release Chrome that does not use webkit.
Thanks, but these threads do nothing for the community. Move on.

[Q] New App lookng for honest reviews and suggestions for new update

Released a new app called slot machine titans on the android marketing place and downloads have been a bit slow recently I'm looking to get suggestions here or from maybe someone who already has released an app on something i can improve on before i launch the paid version.
Just search slot machine titans on the market place and It'll be the first app that pops up
Thanks and keep on building
Send the app to all app review sites (you can use twirkz if you don't want to send out .apk files) and utilize the people on your social networks.
If everything else fails, here's an incomplete list of sites on which you could easily advertise your app:
http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/
http://www.148apps.com/
http://www.appspy.com/
http://portablegamingregion.com/
http://www.gamezebo.com/
http://gamingonbatteries.com/
http://droidgamers.com/
From a purely financial standpoint, paying for an ad on a site that has X popularity is usually more expensive than paying for 5 ads on sites that have X/5 popularity.
Thanks a ton looking at those links now.
My initial review is a 4 star. It has great graphics that are very clean and it plays well with the TF700.
The things that I found that could be addressed are the slow scrolling messages and the sound when you win. The sound turns on then off so quick it's just a blip. Also when you win the scrolling message would better be shown as a blinking message so that it comes up quickly.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk HD
Yeh i did notice sometimes it would be slow scrolling to the front ill try and change that and add it in an update..what do you think about the store..and what would you suggest to make it better like what new in game backgrounds would you like to see buyable
The update seems to have made it a little smoother. I don't have many suggestions for the background yet but I'll try to keep them in mind.
I know that I can turn the sound off through the options, but I'm wondering if you think it would be a good idea to be able to toggle the music or sound fx separately.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk HD
Yeh working on those fixes now so far I just released a new update containing a new background and also added new icons let me know what you think and any more suggestions you have for it
