Changing sdcard name - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I would like to install the android revolution hd but I got a weird problem.
In my tf101 the main storage 16gb is somehow (dont know why) called sdcard and when I put real micro SD to the tablet - it is called MicroSD instead of sdcard.
Now, because of that I cant instal new rom cause it always thinks i have not sdcard in. (in rom manager pro - it sees my sdcard a the main storage called sdcard)
In root explorer I can change sdcard into something else but cant change MicroSD into sdcard. Do you have any idea what should I do?

Do not use ROM Manager. And what you're reporting is the normal storage for the TF101. sdcard is the internal storage, microsd and sd are the 2 extension slots.

ok then, why my android cant see any sdcard when im in recovery mode (without using rom manager, and I tried 3 sd cards yet), Oh and btw I got Clockwork recovery mod 6.0.2.1
Hmm, is that possible to change the rom into revolution hd with easyflasher ?

There should be a menu in recovery to attempt to mount the card. Maybe advanced menu I think. Try that.

well, I tried but there is no such thing in advanced also. So what about easy flasher, can I try with that?

Use the mounts and storage menu and you should be able to manually mount your microSD card.

problem solved, i used goomanager to instal other flash which recognized sdcard,
it turned out that reading alot of old stuff actually helps alot xd
thanks for all anyways

[Q] Rom Manager and internal storage....

It seems that Rom Manager wants to use internal storage but recovery wants to use my external SD card. When I back up my phone from Rom Manager it reboots into CWM and backs it up on the SD card. When I go back into Rom Manager to manage backups it doesn't see it because its looking in the internal storage. If I download a rom from Rom Manager it downloads it to internal storage and when it reboots to CWM it can't find the rom because its not on the SD card.
What am I doing wrong? How do I get this to work properly?
I am experiencing the same exact problem. I can not download roms to the external SD. It a freaking hassle to download and flash a rom on this phone. Any help is appreciated.
I am not even sure I can flash a rom with it. The couple times I tried it failed because I chose the rom through the /externalSD directory and thats linked from within the internal storage.
How is everyone else using it?
I copy the files from the internal and put them in the same directory on the SD card. For example the folder internally is /sdcard/clockworkmod.. i just move that directory to /sdcard/_externalsd/clockworkmod
that way when you reboot everything is already work CM is naturally looking for it. Yes.. it's a pain.
Alternatively.. when I had my G2 i got into the habit of just moving the roms to the root of the sdcard so it was easier to flash right from cwm (I rarely flash via rom manager). Nandroid backups HAVE to stay in the backup folder in the clockwork directory tho.
I found out with boat browser mini I set the download dir to /mnt /sdcard/_ExternalSD and my roms actually download to the root of my SD without errors. That's a start its a lot easier than hooking up to a computer and moving stuff around
Sent From from my G2X
It seems that this would be a normal feature to come with such a product. It makes more sense to have access to the ext. sd card than not.
Maybe there is a very good reason for it? I.e. It can't be done?

Same here.
This is a bit of a pain.
Instead of moving backup files across, I restore directly from the recovery screen.
As for ROMs I have to download them directly from my laptop and copy them the external SD card.
Not good.

[Q] SD Card (External) not seen in CWM

I previously had bricked my Xoom and was able to get it back to stock (with help from the forum). I then rooted it and was going to try flash BRD's Kernal, 3.1 update, bootloader, ect. I DL'd the files and saved them to my SD card. Popped the SD card in. Rebooted into Clockword and could not see my external SD to flash from. I went into the advanced setting in CWM and checked to see if the SD card was mounted... It wasn't. I don't even have the mount/unmount SD option anymore.
I went to the forums and kept getting looped back to the Clockwork Mod 3.2.0.0 thread. Is there a way to push this file through ADB? I'm new to ADB so I don't know if it's even possible. If so which file? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Just to add to the post, I can't see the external card anywhere. Not in the file manager or on my PC, via USB. I've formatted the SD card in my Droid 2 and my PC. That's all that I can think of to add to this.
You can push the recovery in fastboot. Make sure your CWM is version 3, not the version 4. Get it from the forums, in fact the link in my sig for all 20 stock images has everything you need.

if you loaded 4.0.0.4 already and if you have rom manager you can scroll to the bottom and choose "All ClockworkMode Recoveries" and choose 3.0.2.5, then go to thread i linked and flash that..
Thats how far my knowledge goes
Hope it helps
I've copied Turkawa's post as an alternative to pushing files through adb. If you go the adb route you need to download all of the necessary files on your computer. Also make sure to only flash the image file (.img) not a zip file through adb.
Good luck!

If you can't see your SD card anywhere that is problem number one. If you have a SD card in your droid2, put it in the xoom while it is powered off and boot into clockwork. If you can read the card you have narrowed your problem to the card itself. Try using Panasonic SD formatter (Google for the free app) to format the card and try again.

MicroSD not working on tf201

I have a couple MIcroSD cards that i can't seem to get to work right with my transformer prime. When i add either of them in the microSD slot or into an adapter then into the keyboard, Astro File Manager will see them and i can go in and see the files (which are zipped ROMs). When I go into ROM Manager and try to flash a ROM from the SD card they do not show up... I am wondering if they need to be formatted differently, or what...
Side question: i was using TWRP up until it asked me for a password which i dont remember setting so I cant really use it, i am wondering why this is happening and if it might have something to do with incorrect partitions / file format on the microSD card.
Thanks
I'm not sure if recovery programs can read the micro sd card yet. I know that clockwork mod for tf201 could not. Your best bet is to place the zip on your internal storage and flash it from there (assuming that you can still boot).
I'm afraid I dont know anything about twrp passwords... but you could try using fastboot to flash a new recovery.

[Q] Backing up to external SD card for SafeStrap V3

I'm having the worst time trying to find out how to friggin' backup my phone to my external sd card. For some reason, I can do it to my internal storage, but have no way of getting it backed up to my external SD card. I can see the option to select it, but I can't actually select it. I think I have to create a folder on my external SD card for the root but I just can't figure it out. Does the whole entire SafeStrap file need to be copied over to my SD cars as well with a repeat process of installing it the same way in which I did for the internal storage too?
Have you tried backing it up then manually copy pasting it to your sd card?
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using xda app-developers app
I have not, as I assumed that while that might be an option, that if I cannot select the external storage option then something is wrong with SafeStrap. If all I have to do is manually copy it over to my external SD card, and with that done Safestrap can still function OK, then that is what I can do. I thought there was something smaller I might have been missing, so I wanted to make sure it was done accurately. Thanks for the input!
EDIT: My real worry with this, is that if I cannot select external SD storage, then how will I select the files I need to install when flashing ROM? I don't have enough space on my internal storage for the files, and would have to put them onto my external SD card, but if I can't select it then I have no clue how I'll be able to flash the ROM.

I thought I had the same issue and mashed the radio button a bunch of times out of frustration and it eventually worked. It's like the touch isn't as responsive in that area of the screen when in SS.
Well, I got the ROM to work. Since my internal storage is only 5 GB, I couldn't leave both the backup file and the ROM zip files on the same storage device, so I moved the backup manually to my external SD and left the ROM.zip on my internal. I flashed them, got the ROM to work but when I opened it up and booted, as I expected, the phone is like new (nothing installed like I originally had it). Well, I can't restore the backup since it is on my external SD card and since I can't still select that option under SafeStrap, I'm kind of in a pickle here. As well, I my computer couldn't recognize my phone either when on the new CM10 ROM. I'm just going ROM this weekend. If any of you have any clue how to get my computer to recognize my phone when booted on the CM10 ROM, or know how to get SafeStrap to allow me to select my external SD card for storage etc I would much appreciate it!!

[Q] lost access to external sd in red cwm

I'm at a loss. I don't know where I went wrong so maybe someone has some suggestions to lead me down the right path, Please and Thanks.
I've restored with odin and heimdall, used entropy and zen's kernel, but for some reason I cannot access the external sd card in red CWM. I've flashed cm9 so the blue CWM direct link to sd card works. In red when you use external is says no files found but exist. The files are there. You can access through root explorer or my files and they work. I've reformatted both internal and external. Every now and then I see something about no app2sd partition.
Im in a a bad reception and wifi area and won't be home for a month. Don't want to seem ungrateful if I don't reply back right away. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for any help.
If you are referring to the CWM menu options and status messages relating to sd-ext that is not your external sd card. See this guide for more info:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1799917
To confirm whether your external sd card is available from red CWM, you can use ADB (if you have it) and check for files in /sdcard/external_sd. If you don't have ADB, you can load the Infuse Toolkit from CWM recovery (see link in my sig), run the Aroma File Manager option and navigate to the same location highlighted above. If you can see files or copy files to that location you are good.
If you have recently returned from JB and previously upgraded to JB without removing your external SD card, this may have caused your issue. See this guide from andros11 for recommended upgrade JB process:

Thanks Zen! I will try the adb route. I might not be explaining it right but the files are visible by any means besides red cwm. I will do so more work and get back. Thanks again for giving me another way to look at it.
Edit: I always keep my zip files on my external card. I was always able to access them with red cwm ( maybe they were still visible on the main menu). I stay on gb rom's. I only tried cm9 for the blue recovery and if i remember there was a menu option for the external or internal sd card ( sorry I forget) but my zip files were there and accessible. I thought in the red cwm i accessed them in the ext-sd option. I use your toolkit too. You the man and thanks for your help.

From the aroma file manager, i can see the files on the external card but they don't show in the red cwm. I can work around since I can still move the files but it is driving me crazy. LOL Thanks again. I'll keep trying. This was a warranty replacement phone and I don't have a spare sd card with me. I've never been on jb with this phone but my card might have.

This appears to be a...ahem... "feature " of the red CWM recovery. I copied a zip file to my external sd and attempted to access it via the install zip from sd menu option. No luck...
So.. Your ext sd card is fine - just make sure to keep all your CWM zips on the internal sd card.

Thanks again! I must have had zips everywhere (on both cards and never noticed). I really appreciate your help.
