[Q] Text Message App - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My text message app almost constantly shows I have received a text. Show a number 1 by it.even though I have already read all of them or deleted all of them completely. It doesn't show anything in the circles just the text app. Any ideas how I can correct this?

All questions should be in the Q&A forum or risk deletion. Just FYI. Try Settings > Apps > All > Text Messaging > Clear Data.

Sorry about that. I thought I had posted it there.

Did that resolve your issue? I've had that happen once or twice and it just eventually went away on its own after a reboot or two.

No it still shows up randomly on and off thru out the day. Hmm must be Gremlins lol. I've thought about copying over the message. all and .odex file to another folder then delete them in my system app folder. Then repaste them back.

go to settings>apps>running force stop quickview. Try clearing data for quickview too.

Sweet. That seemed to have corrected the problem. The only time it reared its ugly head was for a few seconds after I rebooted. Then went away. Thanks. So Much

I got same issue.
Any solutions like - go to apps and clear data/cache does not work. You need good SMS app just for awhile.
I had use Smart SMS Free app.
It shows one new and unread message, I opened thread and it was empty MMS message. I just deleted it and now stock SMS/MMS counter shows no news messages!

[Q] Unable to load stock SMS app.

I received a text and I went to view it and my phone froze, I locked and unlocked the screen and it unfroze, but when I tried to view the message, the thread just says loading and will not load any messages. This is the same for any thread of messages I try, but when looking at the messages at a glance I can see the preview of the most recent message, yet it wont load. I tried restarting the phone a few times, but the problem is still there. I can see the preview of the most recent message, but still cant view the thread. However, I can send messages and view the entire thread by downloading a third party app (Whatsapp in this case). Anybody able to shed any light on why this might be/possible solution?
I really hope to get out of this without restoring the phone...
Thanks!

go into settings/applications then find the messaging app and try clearing data and cache.

Forgot to mention that I also tried this, did nothing.
But thanks for the input!
I've been searching and have only found one other thread about this problem. No answer on there either. I also have the problem where it doesn't notify me of new texts and the camera app crashing and not working till I restart the phone.
having same issue
I really wish there was more feedback on this issue because I just started having this problem today and this is the only thread I've found that addresses this topic. It started doing it out of nowhere. There was nothing that I could think of that I had done before this occurred that could have caused it. I'm tryin to avoid a factory reset. I have TiBu backups of everything but the fact is that this shouldn't be happening IMO. What should I do?

If you've tried clearing the app cache and data, I don't think there is much else you can do. Just bite the bullet and factory reset.

First off, thanks for your quick response. I did clear the app cache but the clear data was grayed out. I figured I would have to do a factory reset but I wanted to see if anybody had a resolution to this issue first before I did. Thanks again. Guess I'm bitin the bullet

stock messaging app problem - my threads stopped updating

Has anyone had this happen? I have a stock HTC One X that I have rooted. Everything was fine, but now, starting today, when I create a text message, I click send, and it reloads the thread, but my text does not show up - it's just the same last text showing from before the problem started. When people send me texts, I do not see them, but I do get the notification. I rebooted the phone, and cleared the app cache to no avail.
I tried Handcent, and it works just fine. However, handcent has that funky menu bar at the bottom that I hate, and I get a notification from both Handcent and from the stock messaging app, which is annoying.
Any ideas on how to fix this are much appreciated.
Once I hit about 6000 messages I wasn't able to even load threads. I'm just using GO SMS Pro until there's a stable CM10 release for this phone.
Try going into setting and clearing the apps cache then reboot.
Thank you for the replies - I already cleared the cache. I ended up "fixing it", or rather, the problem went away, when I deleted the threads from my best friend and wife. The only thing I can think of is that maybe there is a thread cap, and I message them a lot? Iunno, but it's working now.

PayPal Mobile App notification issues

Anyone else having issues with the PayPal mobile app on their S6? I'm not getting notifications and if you go to settings, notifications and check the tabs, they will be unchecked the next time you open that tab, i,e,, your preferences will not stay saved/checked. Also, sometimes the app shows a spinning icon at the top that will not go away unless you close the app. I've cleared data/cache and reinstalled the app with no luck. I've emailed the developer, but no response yet. Have I overlooked something simple before I permanently delete this malfunctioning app? My phone is new and completely stock. I did search this forum prior to posting w/o result.

[Q] Error Notification - "Messages not Sent" ,MotoG 5.0.2

Hi ,
I sent a MMS from my phone through the messaging app by mistake. One to a registered marketing number and other to a contact on my contact list.
The notification "2 messages couldn't be sent" shows since 5 days and it doesn't disappear even I clear all notifications and restart my phone.
Please help how can I resolve this issue.
Thanks
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. Try clearing the cache in the messaging app. Go-to settings, apps.

I have now done Clear Cache, Clear Data and Clear Defaults still the problem persists. This only clears the error notification for once, When I open the messaging app the notification pops up again.
It seems like the MMS is stuck in between somewhere, it's been nearly a week . I can't get rid of this

Question App settings not being saved (Solved)

Just like it says. I am having a issues with some apps not saving after I set them. It happens when I shut the app down or reboot and I find that the phone is not doing what I set for the app. I open the app to check the settings and it has all been erased like new. If I keep the app open it runs all the settings correctly and saves them but as soon as I close the app or reboot it some of those apps default like it is a brand new app. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Man I hope someone can help us out with a lil insight. Thanks for the reply. I thought I might have screwed up a few things while setting up this new phone. I am on the latest build stable.
is it the permissions being cleared because its being "Paused". under the app's app info page there is a toggle Unused app settings--> Pause app activity if unused. make sure this is off.

No that doesn't appear to be that either. I checked all the apps that seem to be having this problem. Unfortunately that isn't it either. Thank you for the suggestion! IDK if a reflash without wiping would help?
I have never seen this or experienced it. Have you done "something" different? Tried to root, or install a ROM, or...???? If it keeps happening EVEN to native/default/system apps then I would recommend a factory reset with a low level cache wipe...if it can be done on this phone.

I would go for the reflash, and in the end, go for a clean flash.
I didn't experience this problem, but I did have an issue where every time I set a conversation as a priority, the second I left that screen, it reset back to default. I don't have the issue now, but I've also reflashed since then.
I have fixed it by wiping the affected apps data and then uninstalling them and readding the settings. Thanks guys!
