I tried sending a video from my Nexus 4 through whatsapp and noticed that my video was too large of a file. I know how to convert it on a PC, but it's a hassle to startup my PC just to convert the video to 480p or 360p. Is there a way to do that directly on my Android phone?
Thank you.

Coming from a Galaxy S3, the only thing I miss about my old phone compared to Nexus 5 is the camera app / functions.
One feature in particular is the ability to pause the video recording and resume recording the same file. On Nexus5 I have to record numerous short videos and then stitch them to a final video. I gave Camera Awesome a try and it looks great for taking photos, but it doesn't have the pause video recording functionality.
Anybody tried a decent camera app that has this specific function ?
Anybody ?
This cannot be a Samsung only feature, I'm sure I have seen it on other phones
Google is working on a fix for the camera, I would just wait for that. It should be soon.

Guys, I have a Christmas video from last night that I would like to get some still pictures from. Is that possible? I thought it was but I can't find a way.
Thanks!

Not sure since I have never tried it myself, but if it is important enough and you don't want to waste too much time, VLC on your computer.

You could try pausing the video and doing a screen shot (power+Vol Down and hold for a second). Other then that direct from the phone im not sure.
On the computer definitely. vlc, ffmpeg, etc have the ability to grab stills from the video.

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah, I knew I could do it from the desktop, but was looking for a future way to do it on my phone when I wasn't home. Thanks for the app linked, but I am looking for a free solution. Plus, the reviews on that app were kind of crappy.
I like the screenshot idea. Gonna have to try it and see how the quality is.
Screen shots should be at full resolution based on testing.
I want to do something probably simple but don't know how... Let's say I have a video file on my windows computer. Is it possible to watch it the same time on my phone while it plays on the pc? If yes is there a guide of how to do so? Of course both are connected to the same wifi network.

You want to mirror the screen? You could use an app like TeamViewer or Logmein. Those will allow you to view your PC screen from your phone.
No no no... I want the pc to play a video file on any player and at the same time stream that video file to my Android tablet.

just open it on your computer, and open it in your phone/tablet, and press play on both.

Use Splashtop. If your network is good enough you can even stream and play games.
Like Teamviewer, this has the added benefit of being able to completely control your PC from your phone.

I will be going to a concert in May. Since I have been to 1 concert already while owning this phone I noticed that recording video is a nightmare on the Audio part. It sounds really bad. My question, is there any 3rd party app that will do a better job? Or is this just how the phone is? I came from the HTC EVO 4G and while the audio wasn't perfect it was a a lot better than what the Nexus 5 can do.
I am stock and not rooted.

video software question!
With extended compatibility that covers many websites and file formats, All Video Downloader is the download option of choice for videos. Because it's done in dribs and drabs, however, the number of simultaneous downloads allowed is very limited. It's also worth noting that the software is at times unable to download some videos. During our test, an error message appeared several times when trying to download a video.
Guide to get 1440p working (root needed):
1. Wipe YouTube app
2. Uninstall YouTube app
3. Open file explorer that has root permission (i.e. es file explorer)
4. Navigate to /system/ (Make sure it's mounted as r/w)
5. Open build.prop
6. Change the line at ro.build.version.release=4.4.4 to ro.build.version.release=5.0 and save
7. Reboot device
8. Download and install this YouTube version https://www.dropbox.com/s/vm9ncnzyy7g94pf/com.google.android.youtube-5.10.1.5.apk?dl=0
9. Go to the play store and disable automatic updating of the YouTube app
10. Open YouTube app and select a video that supports 1440p
11. Pause the video and change the quality to 1440p
12. Close the video (just the video, not the app)
13. Select the video again
14. Enjoy
I've made this guide as thorough and fool proof as possible. The last few steps are optional and not always necessary, occasionally the setting for 1440p doesn't like to stick. A quick way to check if it took is if the load bar resets, if it does you don't need to close the video and reopen it.
Thanks. This worked for me

Worked. Thank you. Really nice.
I don't think this works, I can see other options but it is always at 720

I did but even if I select 1440P the video looks like is lower quality like 720, I downloaded a 1440P video from the app Tube mate and then tried to watch the same video on YouTube selecting 1440P and is not even close to the quality of the video from Tube mate.

On two different threads you're the only person that's experiencing this issue. I can tell you from my own phone that once 1440 sticks it looks noticeably sharper. Can you please double check that 1440 is sticking for you?
Well, this opened up 1080p to me, but 4k is still not available. My highest quality option had been 720 prior to this, so this is certainly an upgrade.

I don't know why you can't install it. The app is unmodified and has installed just fine for plenty of other people. What is the fine size showing when you download it?

Yep, same here. Had to change it back to 4.4.4 to get it working again
