Hello! I want to know why it is not possible to uninstall apps from the homescreen! When i press an app and keep holding it and transfer it over the trashcan it deletes it but it automatically reappears on the homescreen! I am able to delete them only from the settings! Is there another way???? Thanks in advance!
It is possible, I do that in Nova launcher.

If you hold and then drag to the info section then you have an option to uninstall from the info screen.
Only on ICS, for some reason it has been removed in the JB roms. Misses it a lot also on my s3.

Hi there, to achieve it, you have to do these;
1. Press Menu
2. Go to Setting
3. Go to Applications
4. Go to Manage Applications
5. Select the launcher you want to clear the default.
6. Press the setting that says "clear default".
7. Press the home key and you will be presented with a pop-up menu to select which launcher you want to use.
8. If you tick set as default while in the pop-up.menu, the next time you press the home key, you will go straight to that launcher.
9. If you didn't tick the set as default, you will be presented pop-up menu everytime you press the home key.
Please try and post feedback.

Legend thanks very much.
Is there any way to alter touchwiz in a similar fashion to ADW or GO?
Like extra columns / rows etc?

TW isnt as customizable as any third party launcher...
what i always do after installing my preferred Launcher is to freeze the TW via Titanium backup and then reboot...
That sounds interesting.
What's "freeze touchwiz" mean?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
you have to install titanium backup from the market, let it initialize then have it with root access, find the TWlauncher file from of isntalled apps, long press then choos
e "freeze"... why? so that it wont create conflict to the system specially when you have other launcher installed. if you want to revert back to stock Touchwiz, you can always unfreeze it...
Thats interesting.
I haven't heard of that before.
Do you think it would improve performance or battery life doing that?
What happens when you install the other launcher and tw is "frozen"?

Uninstalled I mean

another option is to try "AutoStarts" and prevent TWL from launching. i did that and it seems to be working (previously some apps still ask which launcher i want to open, despite setting the default one already)
AutoStarts also helps in stopping unwanted apps from starting at boot, even system ones (i hope this is what it does, and not just kills them, although i notice more ram after booting for a while than previously)
So some of you may be familiar with the CyanogenMod ROMs. Well if you are, you know they have an option to "hold-back-to-kill" meaning holding the back button will terminate the foreground app.
Well have you ever wanted this on another ROM? Well you sorta can have it now.
My app will place an ongoing notification into your status bar. However, you cannot see it unless you drag down the notification bar. Then once you see the notification you can click it and it will kill the foreground app.
The notification will appear after a reboot too.
**************THIS APP REQUIRES ROOT**************
Just install it like any other app through a file manager and then open it to view instructions.
Please click thanks if you like this!
******UPDATE INFO******
UPDATE: 2/24/13
- Fixed issue where it wasnt killing the app for some users.
- Implemented better notification method 4.1 and higher users will not see an icon on the status bar but will still see the item when you expand your notification.
- It will still kill your home app, don't use it when you are on your home app. If its a serious issue I can have it ignore the home app. But i havent had any issues.
***************************************
UPDATE: 3/26/13 Current App Killer v1.3
- Code optimization (Should keep services from being restarted. Every time you view an apps info in the settings after killing it with this, it should NOT have the "force-stop" button enabled)
UPDATE: 4/17/13
- More code optimization
- Added long press on search option
------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: 7 - 15 - 13
- Added an invisible button option that is always on top.
- Code optimization.
------------------------------------------------
PS: Anybody have any good ideas for an icon? I was thinking an android guy with a knife through him.. but that made it look like you were killing android.. which made me cry.. cause.. i.. LOVE android <3
Re: [APP][2.2+][ROOT] Foreground app killer (Hold back to kill)
Sounds interesting. Will test in a bit. Instead of a knife going threw the android how about him holding a knife?

Good work!
Two more suggestions:
- Can you prepare possibility to choice notification icon: present, not present at all, not visible
- can you prepare apk which can be use to select as long press back booton action? (Fx with tasker)

By present are you talking about there being a visible icon in the status bar where its visible when the notification drawer is not pulled down?
not present at all

are you referring to not having a notification present at all? Like pretty much disabling the app?

are you talking about having it like it is now with the above options added?
And about tasker, im not sure. i have never really used tasker before. But i will get it play around with it and see what i can do. But as far as having it assigned to the back button thats impossible without modding your ROM's source code. However, i can have it set to the search button long press action.

By 'present' I mean visible on status bar.
If you can set it to search button long press action it will be useful. With this option it will be nice to have possibility to turn off status bar icon and notification icon - I mean option - not visible at all.

Re: [APP][2.2+][ROOT] Foreground app killer (Hold back to kill)
When I press to kill the app it say's killing the app, but the app remains as a foreground.
Should it go back to the home screen? or do I have to press the back button? if so...
It should probably go to the homescreen.

I tried it on facebook and xda. The only message I get is "killing xda" our "killing facebook" then it shows the "super user message" and nothing after.
I'm running Gb 2.3.5 sense. Classic rom with classic kernel. Hopefully it helps.

OP UPDATED
fixes are listed in OP.
Hi there
So I was wondering if I've just been unable to punch in the right search terms or if its really impossible to make a script to change the network state?
Not being a developer I would imagine it would be possible to control as long as the phone is rooted? Now I've tried juice defender, sadly it doesn't support my rooted stock rom of my xperia v - and I'm not really in the mood to change the rom as of now.
Just to clarify it want to be able to use a script to automatically (by using tasker) change the network state from gsm (2g only) and to lte preferred and vice versa.

It does change settings manually...read the application's tutorial...
One thing else..what is your phone? What is your ROM?
I have cyanogenMod and it has a built in option for what you seek!

I think you've got me wrong - I don't want to change manually, I want to be able to do it automatically (preferably by using tasker) - og i wanted to change it manually I would just go to settings and change it.
My phone (right now) is a Xperia V (i did mention that in my original post) with stock rom (rooted) - as stated in the original post I would like it to be independent of the rom

Sorry i got you wrong...then again i don't understand...so let's be clear.
Do you want to draw your status bar, and click on an icon that changes the network from 2G to 3G and vice versa?
Or do you want it that when it's 4:00 PM (for example), the network changes automatically to 3G?

The latter of the two
In essence I want it to change to 2g when the screen is off and revert back when the screen is on (I know I have to take a few exceptions into account) - I know I could just turn off all data but that's not really what I'm looking for

While I appreciate the fact that you're trying to help please try to read what I'm asking
I don't (as in do not want to) want to turn off all data, what I do want to be able to is to switch between 2g (edge) and 4g (lte) automatically - I'm fairly certain there's no app in the market that does that out of the box. However there's a ****load of apps who claim to toggle between 2g/3g/4g - but they just act as shortcuts to the settings menu...

it is sometimes shows when you added anything on your calendar (google one), but like you said, it usually needs other assus apps to work nicely.
I like WeatherTime because it is neat, clean widget design..
