[Q] mock GPS on GPSless tablet - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

hello,
my company got us several cheap Genesis GT-8230 tablets ( Andoid 4.0.3
kernel 3.0.8+ build A802HW.A10AAAAAAZAXXXA.RB1.V106.20120804 ) tablets for use on testing and quality control. Those came without a GPS receiver. now they want us
to test a GPS enabled app. We tried to install Mock GPS on those
tablets, but it does not work. Afer downloading the APK we get a " X Applicatin
not installed error". Any hints on that?
thanks,
F

By the way,
we have the allow off market option on.

[Q] whould this 2.0 Bluetooth Keyboard work cause wiimote doesn't

hi guys i found a bluetooth keyboard and was wondering would it work for our device? it says it work on android above 1.6 and we got 2.1 so we can do it that way but like the wii mote dont work so i was wondering would this work
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Small-Mini-Bl...104903&cguid=3cf23ed812a0a0a9e8e22d02fff31fb6
and its cheaper here http://www.need4it.co.uk/63-mini-blu...-keyboard.html
Can't tell from that, but probably not - it probably only supports the HID bluetooth protocol (most only use this protocol) and our Galaxy S doesn't. If it supports SPP protocol then it could work, the Freedom BT keyboard does HID and SPP and probably would work.
there was another topic a while ago about using BT keyboards
no one had any success so far, seems like current 2.1 android is missing the HID profile to support mouse/keyboards
I've bought this one some time ago, unfortunately it does not work with SGS. Additionally this is a very high price. I've paid for mine around 25€, but ordered directly from Hong Kong based seller.
Does anyone know whether Froyo will support HID profile?
perhaps, it'll be supported eventually, just hang on to your keyboard for now
I don't think Froyo will bring HID support.
When the cyanogenmod ROM comes that shoudl enable it and allow us the use of our WiiMotes
If it's any consolation, I have the black version of this keyboard, a Datel Wii Classic controller, a Zeemote and I've tried setting up my xperia X1i as a BT keyboard - only the Zeemote works so far, and that's with the GamePro application.
Cyanogen is what we're waiting for AFAIK.
Sadly you will need to buy Blueinput for 10 Euro if you want to use it without tweaking and rooting your device http://teksoftco.com/index.php?section=blueinputandroid&tab=download
and WII controller might work with SGS but keep eye out , I Have not tested it out on SGS as I don't have WII Controller
http://www.tgdaily.com/mobility-brief/49727-control-your-android-phone-with-a-wii-remote
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=672884
Heres a fix for ppl wanting to play with BT Keyboard and have root , Quoted by someone that got it to work
"you have to mount /system read and write and copy three files to /system/xbin (hidd, hcitool and hciconfig) from code.google.com/p/androidobex/downloads/list change permission to 777. Enable bluetooht on Android and pair with the device (Paired but not connected) - to do this you have to enter the pin number on the phone (0000) and then enter the same number on the keyboard and then press enter. After this you have to open the terminal and issue the commands:
hcitool scan
(to find the address of the keyboard)
Scanning ...
DC:2C:26:B3:C6:46 Bluetooth Mini Keyboard
hidd --connect DC:2C:26:B3:C6:46
the bluetooh keyboard will stop blinking....tadaaaa!!"
This is the keyboard here: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.37863
Actually Blueinput doesn't even work because blueinput uses the HID stacks already in the android system which the SGS doesn't have, I downloaded the trial today and it is completely non functioning on an SGS. No HID devices will work on this phone (this includes all game controllers). However SPP ones should work with the keypro driver (not even needed with some keyboards).
i got a cheap bluetooth keyboard also from dealextreme and under android 2.1 no go.
but i flashed my SGS with the new JPC firmware (android 2.2) and it's working!!!!!

[Q] VPN with Android 2.3.3 (CM7) and Fritz!Box

Hey all,
i own a Fritz!Box 7390 - and now since Android 2.3.3 (CM7) as VPN build-in i want to connect my Android (Wildfire) with my Fritz!Box via VPN.
Anyone got this allready Working without extra apps or mod for CM7 and can post an How-To here?
Thanks
Andre
Hi,
I just tried many times few weeks ago, but unfortunally my Fritzbox! 7390 do NOT SUPPORT SPEEX codec.
As far as i went, Google is doing the right thing priorizing the use of OPENSOURCE voIP codec, but FRITZBOX -> NOT.
Im so angry !! CANT BELIEVE IT !
If you call with NATIVE GOOGLE ANDROID 2.3 SIP, voice quality is not good as CSipSimple market app, where you can change the SIP CODEC Priority stack.
Shame on Fritzbox.
Am I wrong ? Blame me !
Dear all,
I'm facing the same problem. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S with Android 2.3.3. I experimented with VPNC, get-a-robot VPNC and the built-in IPSec connector to connect to my fritzbox 7130 - but no success!
I've rooted the phone and installed the current busybox. As I wrote, a tun.ko isn't necessary cause it is included in the 2.6.35.7 kernel. Right?
Can anybody give me a hind, what I can do? Thanks!
If this is still an issue: I didn't try, but it should work using VPNC (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gmail.mjm4456.vpncwidget) as far as I read...

Hi I have the same brand but the 2013 model TD818ASD version. It runs on 2.3.5 just wondering if you had any further developments with upgrading ? By the way what Root did you use. Don't want to install the wrong version.

Sorry for my late answer
Yes my tablet is rooted, used superoneclick, no problem
:good:
Thanks for that. I take it you haven't had any success in upgrading to ICS

No, I have searched in all the forums, Telechips.com has a new kernel 3.0.8 and source for ICE out on open source, but I'm not a programmer, so I do not know how to compile it. Have also tried all the other Chinese brands (Erisin and so on), which is the same type as ours, but no luck!

Just to ask, does your tablet randomly reboots?Even when its fully off

Hello
No, I have no problems, my tablet and main unit works perfectly. Have a little trouble getting a 4G dongle to work, possibly because I do not have a USB-OTG cable (Have ordered it!) so hopefully it will works too

I got the 3G dongle working, when I searched around most 4G ones don't say they are compatible with Android systems. Didn't want to risk it. I'm guessing my reboot problems are to do with O.S 2.3.5 since yours is the older stable one. By the way try update your IGO to the latest one. The one with the Stereo has old maps so needs updating.
If developers interested in cooking a Rom for this unit please let me know. Wouldn't mind paying to upgrade to ICS or Jellybean.

I`am in if you can proviede a update to ICE or jelly Bean, and I will ofcourse pay for it!!!

Hi
Which 3G modem are you using??, I do not assume that I get my 4G modem to work, I have tried with PPP Widget, and it finds the modem, but can complete setup
I have another problem my setting for mobile network can not be activated, it is not available as Wifi? what I mean is that I can not get in and ajust the APN settings, have you had any problems with that?

Mine is the Huawei WCDMA E1750 3G pretty much worked straight away no problems with APN settings, all you have to do is google your network provider APN Android settings you just enter it in, but if you can't even access the APN settings means your dongle isn't supported. You have to remember this is Gingerbread OS so might not be updated with 4G dongles.
Hi
Thanks for your help, my 4G modem is a Huawei E3276, this is the modem, that my provider use as standard equipment. I think I would go for the same modem as you use!!!
Basmand
Hello
Have you been upgraded to ICE?, I have searched but can`t find any updates. has solved my 3G dongle problem, it was my USB OTG cable.
Hi,
I have the Xtrons Td605a edition. I am checking the web if there is any costom rom for updating also.
Btw, my GPS program cannot see the GPS input even it is connected to the seattlelites. Did you guys encounter any problems like this?
Hi
I have a XTRONS TD718A, and use TOMTOM as GPS program. I have no problem connecting to the satellites!!! nor problems when I use Google Maps online.
As you can read in this thread and other threads, it`s difficult to find a new ROM to our system, XTRONS will not do anything to help, for them it is a clean business, where a update of android is a potential drop in sales.
I have no problems with the GPS locking on and working with Tomtom, IGO and Google maps. As basmand says updates is pretty much what you have. Unless someone can figure how to cook roms for our devices we pretty much have to use this. Any of you gone on xtrons forums you can see they won't support updates, even though there is a option in the menu to update through SD card or internal memory.
Hi
Has been on Xtrons forums and sent PM to Xtrons.com, just get the answer, that they do not support updates, as written by Kidd78 "Xtrons" is not an option!!!!!!!!!
Hey basmand is your 4G dongle showing 3G on the tablet or H or H+ ?? Can't seem to get H at all
Hi
SORRY my fault, I am not using my HUAWEI 3276 4G dongle for the present, have had trouble getting it to work, using an old 3G modem HUAWEI 1752, It only shows 3G, and my max download speed is approx. 7.5 MBPS. (tested when i am driving), but I'm working on getting my 4G dongle up and running, unfortunately I live in the countryside, where there not is a constant 4G coverage.
My device sees the GPS in Google Maps but it does not received the longitude and latitude in a special Navigation program for Cyprus ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cyprusgiscenter.cyprusonroad&hl=en )
I go into the menu of the program and I go to its signal settings. In the radar thing, it shows all of the seattelites and connections, but the data never reaches the app. It is really frustrating...
GPS works in Google Maps and other programs but the navigation that comes with it does not have Cyprus on it, IGO I tried to download but it is not compatible, and google navigation is not in my country yet...
Xtrons must at least give us root access...

[Q] Have you used any Bluetooth 4.0 (aka Bluetooth Smart) supported devices?

Specifically for the HTC One S, i'm curious how our phones work with it. If you have, please let me know if you are using stock, CM, or any other ROMs. I'm looking to get maybe the pebble (not out yet) or fitbit. Thanks!
I'd like to know this too. Are there any ROMs out yet that enable Bluetooth 4.0 one the HTC One S?
It works from 4.0.3 version with open broadcom ble api which was here recently http_s://code.google.com/p/broadcom-ble but now it's deleted.
It needs a little patch to the library (does not work without). I have done some little tests last year but then put it out.
New rewritten api is here http_s://code.google.com/r/naranjomanuel-opensource-broadcom-ble/ but not tested.
Now I'm making an app to test things. I can connect to TI Keyfob with Keyfob demo firmware and read battery level and tx level and even get notifications when level changes. Have to add some quirks to make it work
And there is a proprietary HTC BLE SDK which you get after NDA. Not sure if it support this phone, but it's based on broadcom api.
As of 4.1.1 version phone can "see" discoverable ble devices in bluetooth settings, but can't do anything from there.
I'm actually looking for other phones with ble supported, chinese maybe. But I guess we should wait for 4.3 to spread around.
MaximusHD. But i dunno really if this works, since i can barely see any difference at all when i was on sense 4+/4.1.1 when it comes to speed on sharing files via bluetooth..
i am on Magio ROM 1.0.4. i want to pair my Heart Rate Monitor. I can see the device, but when i want to pair it, the message is, that the PIN is wrong. Shame...
Does Bluetooth 4.0 depend on the Android version (4.3 or higher) or on the kernel version? From Linux I know that drivers can be included in ther kernel or as separate modules.
Is there any custom ROM with 4.3+ AND Sense?
Edit: My co-worker has CM 11 installed and his Runtastic BT 4.0 HRM belt works fine.
anyone know that fitbit work and sync with one s (maximus hd rom)?

Polarodi PMID705GTVGO GPS not working

Hello everyone, I have a polaroid PMID705GTVGO 7" tablet (Jet 705), it says it has GPS but I cant seem to get fix.
I have two identical tablets bought on Mexico and in both tablets I can't get gps fix. The oficial web page doesn't list GPS as a feature, but the official manual does and I see the options on it's OS (stock Android 4.2.2 non-rooted)
Any ideas on what's going on would be appreciated
