Disable Fully Charged Notification? - Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE

Is there currently a way to disable the fully charged battery notification?
At night my phone is plugged in to the charger and sitting on the nightstand right next to where I sleep. When it goes off that it's at 100% charge in the middle of the night it wakes me up thinking I have a text or something.

I too would like to know about this...

Going to get the phone in 2 weeks for my wife, and I know this would be really annoying. Used to have the notification on my Galaxy S2, but ROMs have fixed it. But anyway, one way that worked on the S2 was to have it rooted and rename the charged notification sound to something else. Maybe it'll work for this phone as well? Worth a shot

I have literally never heard this before. Maybe I disabled it somehow?
I see the little pop-up when I turn my screen on and its charged, but that's all.
Sent from my XT897 using Tapatalk 2

Yeah, was originally there on my Epic also but a custom ROM fixed that.
The problem on the Photon is it uses whatever sound you have set as your notification tone (i.e for sms, email, etc), so if you replaced or set that to a dead sound, you'd also kill your notification tone.
Also, in addition to the tone, you also get a visible toast notification on the screen and it also powers the screen on and at least on my phone stays on at that point. Really irritating.
Hope someone finds a way to disable it soon.

Maybe try using lightflow, there is an option for fully charged, and you can set either a quieter tone, or none at all.

I'd be surprised if it worked, but giving it a shot right now.

Didn't work. Still got the standard system notification sound and the screen turned on with the toast notification that the battery was fully charged.

I've never heard this notification tone. When I first got the phone and saw what smart actions were I set it up to go silent at bed time and resume prior to waking up.
Since I only charge the phone overnight I've never noticed this.

I can't remember when I started getting this, maybe the last update? But mine seems to only pop up when I turn my screen on after being fully charged. I get my notification tone and the pop-up fully charged notification.
Throws me off too thinking I got a text or something.

....lightflow is good choice....it is better app for notifications
...and diode on phq has too much of colours

I don't understand... Did this happen after the update?
I've never heard the phone make any sort of noise when fully charged... ever.

Lightflow worked fine for me as far as changing the tone. Sorry it did not work out for you. Did you get the full version or the lite version?

Lite version. Did you simply change it to another tone, or somehow disable it?
Changing it to a different tone doesn't fix the issue, unless you change set it to a silent mp3/wav of some sorts, and then you still have to deal with the full charge toast message which turns the screen on (at least on my phone)

I changed it to a different tone from my texts. The toast comes up when I check the phone, but to my knowledge my screen does not come on of its own accord when fully charged. I also have the paid version of light flow, but that should not make a difference if you can access that particular function (fully charged alert or charge status or whatever it is labeled.)

Solution
I had this problem too, and posted over at the moto forums, until someone asked the question "are you using the cable that came with the phone?"
after all the flame posting died down, I decided to try it. looky, ma, that dope was right! I was using some other charger, and when I used the usb cable that came with it and the a/c block plug thing, amazingly, it doesn't wake up anymore when it gets 100% charged. go figure.

Hmm,... I'm using the Motorola adapter and cable that came with the phone,...but I am using a USB cable extender in between the two..
I'll try it without and see if it makes a difference.

Turn off Fully Charged notification

I hate that notification because I use my phone for my alarm and it lights up in the middle of the night. Has anybody figured out a way to turn that notification off? I have looked and not found anything on the phone or in the forums.
If you can't find a way to suppress the notification, do what I do...turn the phone over. If you don't have the Body Glove case that lifts the screen off the furniture and are concerned about scratches, put it on a paper towel or similar item to protect it. I use a wash cloth.
would also like to know how to turn that stupid notification off - software based and not using a towel though
I don't know much yet but I was digging around in root explorer and if you go to /system/media there are a bunch of .qmg files for battery related stuff, and two of them are named chargingwarning.qmg and Disconnected.qmg. Could one of these be the file for the fully charged notification?

Probably not because the notifications are all text, and QMGs are the 3d files used at boot-up. Most likely those animations are used in the battery meter that is displayed when the phone is off (turn your phone off and plug it in).
This won't help with the light, but the sound can be fixed.

seriously? we are all STILL dealing with this? has anyone found a solution to prevent this notification from popping up?

It is confirmed fix in the 2.2 release - at least the JI6 build we are all playing with. They moved it to the notification bar.
Bumpage!
Been a lurker but just recently got my Captivate. Great forum here! Looking forward to contribute as well.
Well my issue with the "Fully Charged" battery notification is the display will stay on for the entire night. When I wake up in the morning, I see the phone's display on with the notification. Is this normal? I think this was happening just recently but I can't remember. Shouldn't the display turn off after the set amount time of inactivity? Thanks.
Nevermind, I figured it out. Within the development settings, the option to never allow the phone to sleep while plugged into the usb was checked. I wonder why that was checked.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Ok, I THOUGH disabling that option would put the display to sleep when the notification comes on but it doesn't. =(
Is this normal behavior? The screen stays lit after the notification is on? The only reason why i'm concern is if I'm plugging it in night after night and it's on that particular screen for hours at a time, there might be some burn in issues.

Not likely. It's not a rear projection tv or a CRT monitor. Burn-in problems died with those.

Guess you haven't seen some of the demo Captivate at your local AT&T stores. Seeing the burned in images on those beautiful SAMOLED screen just kills a little bit of me.
In any case, so it's normal for the screen to take on after the message notification comes on?

None of the models I saw had burn-in at all. I got my phone on August 30th of this year. The phone had been on the shelves since July. But I would imagine it's normal for the screen to come on.
I got my phone only three weeks ago, so the phone sitting on display has probably been there a long time. And yeah, samoled screen can get burned in. well guess I'll have to charge it during the day time for now until I can figure out a way to disable the pop up.
Oh my worry is that the screen might be in the on state with the same image for hours while I sleep. That's something I can't leave to chance.

As long as you're not using a Samsung Dock or have the Stay Awake option checked off in settings, it won't stay on. I watch my phone every night. It usually finishes charging long before I ever go to sleep (case in point, it's 3:11am, and the phone was done around 1am) and the screen always times out and turns itself off. It doesn't come back on either.

Ok, yeah that's what I figured. Thanks for confirming it for me. I do have that option "not checked". Something might be preventing it to fall back asleep.
Is there any log within the file system which might keep track of system events? I might have to do a little digging around.
Thanks for your input.

Charged notification PROBLEM SOLVED !
PROBLEM SOLVED ! NO COST !
I saw this suggestion in another forum and it WORKS, so I'm passing it on !
Set the global notifications to SILENT.
Set the notification on Gmail to any ringtone, NOT DEFAULT.
Set the notification on messaging to any ringtone, NOT DEFAULT.
You'll still have a tone when you 1st plug the phone in to the charger, but NO tone when it's fully charged.
Where are these settings? I can't find them any where.

captivate vibrate when fully charged

another great feature. especially if that pesky full nights sleep is bothering you. Samsung are you just testing us?
Does anyone have a solution to this?
Mine doesn't, I don't have haptic feedback on. I wonder if that is why?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I didn't notice the vibrate, but...
My Captivate hangs on its charging cord from a low outlet, and I keep it in my bedroom. At about 3AM, I experienced what it would be like to have an AMOLED night-light.
(When it finished charging, it turned its screen on to tell me and the screen was bright enough to light up the entire room and wake me from a relatively deep sleep.)
I've had it charging beside me and knowing the phone is off you aren't expecting anything from it....scared the sh*t outta me twice now, lol.
When the captivate is fully charged does it have a popup that asks you to remove it from the charger along with the alert?

I am working on a way for the vibrant and just wanted to see if the captivate was the same. Once I figure it out more it should be able to be made for both. Here is the link to my alpha tests. You can try it if you like but I make no guarantees as to how it will affect the captivate. Make sure you have a nandroid backup if you do try it, also let me know what happens. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748400
Thanks I'll wait until you get it QA'd.
BTW I figured out a (crappy) compromise, I use CT Scheduler from Market to turn phone off after 11PM. Free app. Not because I'm cheap but I have been spending quite a bit of money on pay apps lately and I like to try things different from the herd so not going with locale.
But anyway, this is a total fail workaround because it would be ideal to have the phone stay on all night, but in vibrate, so if someone does need to reach me in the middle of the night the phone lights up, vibrates, and wakes me up so I can take the call.

I tested your theory.
Phone OFF, Haptic OFF, vibey-vibey = YES
Phone ON, Haptic is OFF vibey-vibey = NO just a big bright room illuminating shock in the night when it turns the screen on to let you know it is charged.
Aha! So then a short term solution is to cover the phone with something, or place it display down? Until someone figures this out, that is.

[Q] Anyway to turn off the Battery Charged Message?

Don't mind the message when the battery is low.
BUT. At nights I use Gentle Alarm and do not want the screen on. Somewhere in the night when the battery gets a full charge a message (in a little blue box similar to the battery low msg) pops up and turns the screen on.
I have disabled the: Keep Screen on while Charging option but would love to just be able to disable that message.
Also the phone seems unusually WARM in the mourning especially if the screen has come on.
BTW I have been feeling more awake during the day since using Gentle Alarm and the Pre Alarm. What a WONDER to wake gradually and not GET THE *&%^* UP type of alarm .. LOL
I would like to know this too haha. I've had the same experiences.
Me too please!!
OK, This is really getting annoying.. My phone is waking me up EVERY night when it's fully charged.. If it's not on silent/vibrate it does that damn chirp when it's finished charging..
If it's on silent/vibrate it vibrates when it's fully charged. WTF?? seriously EVERY night when I finally fall asleep it wakes me up!!!!
Who the hell designs a phone to do this ****? I mean 98% of people probably charge their phone while sleeping so if I put my phone on silent it shouldn't make a damn vibration just to tell me my phone is charged.
Can someone PLEASE stop this, I'm willing to pay!
I think I found it!
I'm working on it now. If this works, you guys owe me a big sloppy one. I'm sick as hell and even took off work today, but I'm still working on things, and trying to make life better for you and your phones.

Not a bad idea, but I'm not really in it for the money. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to be rewarded for a job well done and I appreciate it, but I enjoy what I do on here and I would be doing most of it anyway. I just get more ideas from you guys than by myself. ESKBL, accurate battery mod, and removing the batter popup message were thoughts, but I probably wouldn't have bothered with them that much if other people weren't so interested in them.
is the battery mod available for the showcase? I took that theme off, because the text was a little too small for me, but I did like the battery being correct. I think I like the one with the circle the best with the number inside..
Taken from another forum. Apparently it is not just our phone. It does have to do with Li-Ion Battery's aversion to not so much being %100 charged but Getting HOT when they are. So Sammy thought to help us prevent this.. *how thoughtful* LOL
After reading this I will probably NOT be charging all night in the future.

If you do want to charge at night this is somewhat a workaround.
Set the global notifications to SILENT.
(in settings)
Set the notification on Gmail to any ringtone, NOT DEFAULT.
Set the notification on messaging to any ringtone, NOT DEFAULT.
(not in settings but in the apps)
You'll still have a tone when you 1st plug the phone in to the charger, but NO tone when it's fully charged.
From what I am seeing no one can really figure out which XML is pulling it. I poked around (but being somewhat lost in the filessystem) and found nothing.

I've found it and it's not in the xml code, it's actually in the smali coding in the framework way down in the services.jar. The problem that I have with sammy graciously doing this for us is that when they put that little popup message in, they didn't think about those of us that have check the "stay awake while charging" option. This helps me out while I'm plugged in to a computer and don't want the screen to go out, but at night I want to charge the phone and turn the screen off. Even if you turn off the sound, the popup still comes up, the screen turns on and your phone heats up even more than if you were just charging it all night.
I'm testing the mod right now. If it works, you'll have two options; remove the popup altogether, or bypass the sound with the work around that you found. In the future, hopefully there will be a better option altogether.

There was an article on another Android website (not avoiding giving the name, I just don't remember which one) that explained the battery charging process. They were examining why the battery will show 90% shortly after being removed from the charger. Basically the battery stops once it's at 100% and then allows the battery to drain back down to 90% before it charges back up again.
ok so i set my Notification to silent... I had my phone charging on normal profile. and it still beeped when the battery was fully charged...

I actually stumbled across this thread after I discovered how to disable the fully charged notification on a mesmerize facebook group! Open your phone dialer, and enter *#3844228# , when you hit the last pound sign, it'll bring up a check box to disable the notification. Hope this helps everyone!
Lol, now you can set your other notification options back to normal!
Oh, and btw, I've tested this, it works, it's not gonna screw up your phone.
CORRECTION: it DOES disable the notification box, however your phone will still beep when it is fully charged!

Notification Light not working

It seems my notification light is not working regardless what I do. Has anyone else had this issue after rooting and loading the fission rom?
I'm able to reproduce it as it happened both to my phone and a family members phone. I returned to stock rom by SBF and still my notification light doesn't work anymore.
Anyway idea's on how to fix this? Is it possible that our current rooting process breaks the notification light? I have also already tried booting into safe mode to make sure it wasn't an app.
mine works just fine running fission.
Well unfortunately mine is not working at all in either stock unrooted or rooted forms. This only started after I rooted the phone. Please don't tell me Motorola added a new "feature" that breaks the notification light if the phones been modified.
I would really like to figure out how to fix this .

Oh I know that. Light will not work with the screen off. I've sent my self several emails to test this. I also have events in my calender at 9:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. which should also be triggering the light and never do. And no I'm not sitting there with the screen on waiting for it.
Every time I sent my self and email I waited to hear the sound notification and then waiting 2 minutes after yet still no light blinks. I think finally turn on the screen to clear the notification from the bar.
Even my facebook notifications which should trigger the light don't either. So far for the last week I've had no notification lights at all no matter what I do.
Right now I've SBF my phone back to stock and have left it unrooted and I'm still not getting any notification lights with the screen off.
I'm not stupid and know that the screen must be off.
possibly the LED is broken...these things happen. it may or may not even be related to the rooting either could of just coincedently broken at the same time. since youve returned your phone to stock and it still doesnt work then that seems the logical conclusion. not sure if someones found a service mode yet where you can test the LED, thats the next thing to try.

That is a possibility but I find it quite unlikely that both phones would have broken notification lights at around the same time.
Is there any applications out there that allow you to flip on the notification light without notifications? I've seen some applications that allow you to change the color of the light if your phone supports but.

Vibrate Feedback Failure

I'm curious to see if anyone is having problems with their Thunderbolt vibrating while typing, moving widgets, incoming calls or lowering their volume to vibrate.
While typing, moving widgets, using the soft keys at the bottom of the phone or lowering my volume to vibrate I notice that randomly my vibration will cease to work. And by not work I mean absolutely no vibration, even when I receive a call. Then out of no where it will start to work again, of course randomly as well.
I know it's definitely not a rom issue nor kernel as it has happened to me on multiple roms, even my current unrooted stock setup. Do you guys think its a defect with the phone? I hope not because I'm not to keen on getting a "like new refurb" after only having my Tbolt for just about 30 days...
I'm noticing the same thing. I also experience random ringtone and volume changes. Earlier today could barely hear text notification even with volume all the way up. Working fine now. Mine is stock.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
If it continues to do that after a factory reset, then most likely you have a hardware problem. Assuming you two are both stock.
I spoke to tech support and a rep at the store (>.< I know) and they agreed to replace my phone. Rooted and unrooted I had the problem so odds are pretty good that it is a hardware issue.
@saraheba I'd unroot and return to stock and see if the problem persists. If so then you may be in the same boat of having a defective phone.
Make sure you don't have automatic power management enabled. It will disable vibration when you get a low battery.
