Bricked after installing Beats Audio on TF101 - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Today I rooted my TF101 and though, lets install beats audio and check it out. The rooting process with 1 click root was really easy, but 5 minutes later after beats audio installing - the system stopped like that: it just spins all the time and does nothing

My pc (WIN7 64) recognize the usb but only for few moments and then it's unknown so I cant do anything through USB atm (at least that's what I guess)
So i started trying everything what I could (power up+volume down and up) and everything I could do is going to the menu (and saw the system info - which is weird cause I'm living in Poland and my System is US )
So I went farther and If I press vol up - it makes soft boot Linux *which doesnt even rs anything just back to loading screen
But when I wait - I can choose between recovery mode and wipe. If I pick wipe - "living" android loads something, tablet restarts and everything is the same, and if I choose recovery mode - it goes into living android pic for a sec and then to the "dead" android with the sign on him (like on the photo) for a long time and then nothing happenes.
And I can choose between those 2 in this menu:
I honestly dont know what is happening. Please for any help, its the only "pc" I got in my house. (Sorry for bad English, hope U can understand me in general)
P.S I found this on yt, what do you think about this vid?
How to Unbrick, Unroot, or Downgrade the Asus Transformer (on YT, cant post link)

try easyflasher by whitekidney from the development section.

i tried that and I cant get into apx mode, I guess im doing it right but just cant. it's power and vol down wright?

Same situation
Im in exactly the same situation
Im an extreem NOOB and i guess i got a little ahead of myself... actualy i think now i'm in a bigger hole that you are. I did the wipe before the restore and now i lost the ability to pick a Zip file from the SD.
I'm at a loss I've downloaded the factory firmware and loaded that to the SD card I hold the power and Vol down and get the two options to wipe or the little android guy when I select wipe it goes throgh the process then I get the android guy standing in front of the box then it shows the ASUS splash screen then I get the white dots running in the circle forever.
If anyone can offer any suggestions I'll try anything
Thanks Ryan

You will have to reflash using whillie(if on SBK2)
Go into APX mode and reflash the whole image.
Just press and hold the power + UP button. The computer will detect it.

whats whillie Ive searched google and this site and cant find anything
Im trying to use Brk's Transformer root kit but when I try to install the drivers it says "The directory name is invalid" Ive tryed the 64 and 32 bit versions on two computers (i'm not alowed to post in that thread?????)

ok, so how exactly should i get into apx mode?
lets assume my tablet is turned off and connected to wp, what now?
oh and another question:
on the picture you can see my soft is US while im in Poland and had Polish menu etc. so now, when im downloading new soft to install. should i get WW or US one?

PROBLEM SOLVED!
IT turned out that i had to instal other apx drivers and now i did it well with easyflasher.
got a question for you guys, can i instal other than custom roms with that easyflasher?

Is the APX driver the USB drivers??
I think that's what I'm missing. I don't even get the acknowledgment that my tf101 has even been plugged into my computer, no ding, no trying to install software , no nothing.
I've tried googling some usb drivers but couldn't figure out what they were trying to do
I also seemed to have lost access to my SD card when i try to install a ROM or anything from the SD card in clockwork i get the file not found error
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to think I'm fairly computer literate but the whole android thing is very new to me

I think you should use universal naked drivers. it installs most drivers for most of your device. be it APX or USB

[ROM][3.21.2012]NVFlash ICS 9.2.1.17 US/WW/TW Restore[FULLY STOCK!!NOT ROOTED!!]

Hi
Here are the nvflash versions for the .17 update. For those that wanna go back to stock for warrenty or have a dualboot this can come in handy.
I've tested the WW version on my on transformer and it worked (got a B70 with SBK1) created the US and TW version the sameway with the same config files so it should work! LET ME KNOW IF IT WORKS FOR YOU
But remember i'm not responsible for any bricks flashing my causes and you do this on your own riks.
Quick guide:
1. Connect cable to computer and turn device on while holding down Volume Up. Screen will stay off, but USB will come on.
2. Find “APX” device in Device manager and update driver, then point it at usbpcdriver directory from the zip.
3. Run download.bat.
I'm hosting them on my own server:
http://www.xdafileserver.nl/
*Added US version, and TW version
Thanks
.
Worked great on a B60 and a B70.
Thank you.

not for TF101G - B90 ?
Nopes these are only for versions with SBK1 and the B90 series doesnt have that sorry m8, but there are otherways to get back to stock for B90 just look in the dev section.

Thanks would this remove any version of clockwork recovery such as the disasterours 5.x that makes you do a cold boot on each restart?

Yes
NVFLASH'ing removes every partition and restores the orignal one.
Windows won't allow me to install the driver. It says the third-party INF does not contain digital signature information, and it doesn't give me an ignore and proceed anyway option. Any ideas? I'm doing this from device manager.
Edit: if anyone else has this happen, rebooting to boot options (the screen that lets you boot into safe mode and such) there is a setting to disable signed drivers. That worked for me.
This is so useful. Thanks.
Really good job! Thanks man!
nicely done! I was thinking about creating one for this version but I got tied up with work.
No problem
Hope it comes in handy!
and chadster214 work comes first at least they say so haha

Hmmm try to flash it again, i've checked the zip file and it contains all the files including the recovery (blob.sos)
Thanks a lot. Fixed a issue for me. No matter what I flashed I couldn't get the wifi to work again. Just stayed in a state of trying to turn on.
Tried and tested the WW version; no problem at all.

I install the new NVFLASH_ICS_9.2.1.24_WW_NOROOT
My recovery it's the same, how is the recovery stock? you have screens?
I read that is normal in stock (android with admiration sign)
Thanks in advance, sorry for my english
This process works fine. A few things to keep in mind:
1) Unzip the .7z file in a folder in a folder at the root of your hard drive: I typically open my Windows boot drive, create a new folder, name it "nvflash" and dump the archive's contents into it. This avoids getting errors as a result of the Windows folder/file path being too long.
2) Timing is important when connecting the tablet to the computer: on Windows 7, I simply press the power on+volume up buttons for 2-3 seconds (up until the "new hardware found" bubble appears in the tray area), I then let go and make sure the screen remains off (*VERY IMPORTANT*).
3) To install the Windows driver for my TF101, I go to Device Manager, right-click on the APX icon (it should show a yellow exclamation point), update the driver by pointing Windows to the /usbpcdriver folder (e.g. c:\nvflash\usbpcdriver, for example), let Windows finish the install and ONLY then start the flashing process by running download.bat in Administrator mode.

[Q] Stuck in Clockwork Mod Recovery with no access to external SD

On friday i booted down my TF101 B70 and when i booted it back up could not get into Android, tried Cold Boot Linux tried Wipe Data. Did not work.
I do still have my ClockworkMod Recovery v5.5.0.4 which i keep booting into.
The problem is I am able to access the interal memory but my superwipe and Revolution HD files are not on there (if this is fixed, i will never make that mistake again)
I formatted my 2gb micro sd and loaded superwipe and revolutionHD, but cwm recovery does not see it.
I hooked up the TF101 to my pc to see if there was any way I can get access to the internal SD but i cannot connect as it is an unknown device on Win 7 64bit, which i cannot find drivers for. (Tried Asus Sync, Tries Asus' page for usb, even tried the APX drivers)
My question is how can i gain access to the internal SD to place my superwipe and revolution hd to flash and save my beloved TF101? is there a way i can access it with ADB? im pretty sure mine is the SDKv2 which is not accessible (sorry if i wrote that wrong)
any insight will help. Thanks!
use adb push command to send giles from the pc to the main storage or use gnufabio's recover install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346180 to install a cwm version which could access external sd card
do i do adb push from and set the tf101 into apx mode or while in cwm recovery?

You can use ADB in recovery. DO NOT put the Superwipe script back in because once you use it, it will wipe everything again. Just ADB push your ROM file to internal sd and use option inside CWM to wipe your TF.
when i am in APX mode, usind adb shell i get " error: device not found"
when i am in recovery, win7 cannot find the right driver for the device. it just sits in "other devices" in device manager as "Transformer"
btw, thank you guys for your input.

Here is what Win 7 64bit shows when I am in ClockworkMod Recovery v5.5.0.4
I've never really used adb under win. have you installed the dev drivers from asus site? i don't have theexact url at the moment, i'm sorry.
from asus' site i only tried the asus sync and ASUS_Android_USB_drivers_for_Windows. i will see if they have dev drivers on their page.
Nothing that i could find on the Asus site:
http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Eee+Pad+Transformer+TF101&p=20&s=16
I also installed from SDK Manager "Google USB Driver" still nothing
Try the driver out of ViperMod.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427125
When you're in the Device manager right click and chose update driver.
Point it to the driver location.
tried those, still will not accept those tried from within the "Driver" folder and Android MTP and tethering each one by itself.
This driver business is driving me nuts.
What about ASUS sync? That's what work for me
yep same issue. I just tried on a win xp 32bit netbook.
when i connect the TF101 it shows up as an Unknown device but the device name is "Transformer" and no matter what driver i try, it does not install the driver.
maybe is there something weird about Clockwork Mod Rocovery v5.5.0.4
installed Asus sync on win xp 32, did not update the drivers, also went directly into c:\program files\ASUS\ASUS Drivers for Windows\ that also didnt like it.
what is it with this ver of CWM that it wont like the drivers?

But people with that CWM used ADB to fix the same problem you are having though.
Can you find someone in real life who already has transformer and adb drivers working on their computer? You should plug your TF into their computer and see if ADB works. If adb still doesn't work, then it's safe to say you are screwed I think.
Or find a working transformer and plug that into your computer and see what happens with drivers.
there is something weird about it that i have never experianced using cwm on a sgs2 and sgs.
when i go into CWM, and try for instance "install from sd card" then "choose file from sdcard" it takes a good 5 minutes to pull up anything, all you see for a while is the cwm logo in the center, then after about 5 6 minutes all the folders i have on there appear.
another thing i just noticed right now, after i reboot from cwm there a destinct click from the device on the back where the camera is....
this is not looking good
EDIT: nvmd supposedly this is normal

Another uopdate,
I booted with the Up Vol + Power to Coldboot linux, after letting it sit there for about 10 mintes the MTP driver popped up on my win 7 64. the driver installs, but in device manager it says the "device cannot be started"

[Q] Problem connection my blaze with USB

Ive had this phone for a week or so and have since rooted it. But I am now having trouble connecting using USB. I can connect it to my PC and it will show 2 removable drives in my list of drives in explorer but I cannot access them. I also cannot mount my SD card in CWM. It doesnt show any removable drives when I try in explorer.
This all worked fine until I tried installing Samsung Kies which seems to be a POS and somehow screwed my drivers up. Ive removed them, got Kies off my system even went so far as to remove the Samsung drivers off my system and use Revo Uninstaller Pro to get any remnants off only to reinstall and have the same issue.
Any help would be appreciated.
Im using Win 7 64bit. With this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918608
I also tried this to no avail.
First uninstall Kies from your PC and make sure you doesn't leave behind any files.
Uninstallation of the software and the drivers installed by Kies I suggest using Revo uninstaller to do that.
Uninstall it from your PC then make a fresh installation.
Open Kies but do not connect your phone, if it wants to update Kies, go ahead and do it.
Close Kies, connect your phone and open Kies.

1st let me say Im an idiot on forgetting to mount the USB that way but it wasnt asking me I had to look on the notifications and tap from there.
But that still leaves me unable to mount from within CWM. I attempt to mount my SD card and it doesnt show anything, now I also installed ROM Manager and flashed CWM Touch in between my rooting and now, could this somehow have screwed things up?
Something else I just noticed since the 2 removable drives are now accessible, thanks to you helping me realize I was forgetting something important, both of these drives seem to have what may be important stuff on them but also seem like it may be duplicated or being a bit new to this it could just be the way its supposed to be.

[ GUIDE ] How to Boot Ubuntu 14.10 from USB on the Asus T200TA

THIS IS CURRENTLY A WORK IN PROGRESS I WILL UPDATE THIS DAILY SO KEEP TUNED
Download "ubuntu-14.10-desktop-amd64.iso" from http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop
Download "Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.5.9.exe" from http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/
*Important* Follow the directions on Pendrivelinux.comto make a bootable USB stick using the Ubuntu 14.10 ISO you downloaded earlier.
You should now be able to browse trough the files on the USB stick
Now Download this custom "bootia32.efi" from my repo https://github.com/Chadder43/T200TA-TinCan/blob/master/EFI/Boot/bootia32.efi, and place the file on the USB stick in the /EFI/BOOT folder. There should be two files in the folder already, just add the bootia32.efi to them.
Congrats, You now have a bootable USB stick!!!
To Launch Ubuntu
Swipe in from the right, and click on Settings.

Click Change PC Settings.
Click Update and Recovery
Click Recovery
Under Advanced startup select Restart Now
Let the T200TA reboot
When it restarts click Troubleshoot
Click Advanced options
Click UEFI Firmware Settings
Click Restart
This is the "BIOS"
Now go over to the Save & Exit tab, and go down and select your USB device under the Boot Override Option. Mine happens to be "UEFI: MEMOREX TF20 PMAP"
Select Try Ubuntu without installing
It will Probably spit out a bunch of stuff like this
Then go to this screen
And it is still on it. It took quite a while to load. If I was using a USB 3.0 it would have been quicker
Welcome to Ubuntu 14.10
I will continue to update this daily so check back soon to learn how to fully install Ubuntu to a USB and get WIFI working along with other patches.
Thanks for sharing this.
Do you have a 64bit windows on your T200TA? I have the cheaper version, 32bit windows on a 64bit cpu. The usbstick wont start. I tried many ways, disabled secureboot, disabled fastreboot, nothing works... Can you help me?
Edit:
Nvm. I was too dumb to download bootia32.efi correctly.
Thanks for this. It's taking so long to load ubuntu because of all the i/o errors its reporting on the eMMC drive. I'm getting the same errors on mine, too, so I think we can safely assume there are no true i/o errors happening. Probably something to do with ubuntu trying to access Wimboot?
Anyway, looking forward to seeing how to get wifi working.
Thank you for share your work.
But when I going to boot grub in Boot Override, I get error: Secure Boot Violation - Invalid signature detected. Check Secure Boot Policy in Setup.

Thanks for this Chadder43, I had tried various methods to attempt running Linux on my machine, none worked until I used your method. I am sure all the bugs will be ironed out in time, wifi is essential. Will be trying various Linux distributions with your method to see if any work.

No Problem,
Im sorry to everyone for not dedicating the time that I would like to this, but with school full time, and working on the weekends just to survive... well you know?
Has anyone tried to use ndiswrapper for the windows drivers? the wifi card and what seems like everything else is "wired" in I2C somehow, I havnt gotten that far, but soon I hope.
I tested with kubuntu 15.04 beta1 , it worked fine, unless already known faults: wifi, sound, etc. I love KDE 5 plasma.

No Problem,
Im sorry to everyone for not dedicating the time that I would like to this, but with school full time, and working on the weekends just to survive... well you know?
Has anyone tried to use ndiswrapper for the windows drivers? the wifi card and what seems like everything else is "wired" in I2C somehow, I havnt gotten that far, but soon I hope.

Thanks Chadder43, for taking time to write this up. We you are to make any progress with respect to sound?
Great work, Chadder43! I've got it working too, with the already mentioned lack of sound, wifi, etc.
I wonder if it would be possible to make a true dual boot system of the T200, with GRUB or any other bootloader, or does UEFI put an end to that?
Any more update on this thread.
I really like to have a working wifi and sound.
hi, i am looking to install the ubuntu on t200ta, assus transformer, i was able to boot with usb and try the ubuntu , but my apprehension regarding touchpad , touch screen and other drivers issues are not clear. how to update them? has the issues of drivers addressed?

I tried something, and it went bad very fast!

Hi there, I'v tried to update my FT101. So I've found the right website for the job, KatKiss ROM MarshMallow 6.0.1 Release. Got a lot of things going for me so I was really in the mood for it.
I came a long way.... until the moment came to update Android itself. Entered the SD card. No SD card found. Oke let`s try another one, no SD card found. Alright, also found a link on how to install the FT101 with a direct cable from a PC. Plugged in the cable from the FT101 to my win10 pc, no connection what so ever! Oke let`s try my win7 pc, no connection what so ever! Oke let`s try the laptop, no connection what so ever! So now I'm running out of ideas, last and final try. Different SD format's, NTFS, FAT, FAT32 and exFAT (tried it with two different card's).
Made some photo's of my progress, is there anyone that can help me further? Please? :fingers-crossed:

If the OS you were using is still there, try to see if that detects the SD card

Try using a different SD card

I've tried two different cards. Still no luck.
Are you plugging a microsd card into the microSD card slot?

Any other ideas?
I'm still hoping to fix this but i'm gonne need some help with it
So assuming by your pics, you still are able to get into bootloader/APX AND Recovery (TWRP)... So you are not yet completely bricked, this is good.
Your TWRP version is 2.3xx and you wanted KatKiss 6.0 marshmellow.
You needed the latest TWRP 2.8xx, that was in another thread.
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2434422
If you find a way to get the sdcard reading (only formatting linux ext3/4 or FAT32 will work) or the pc to connect to TWRP/APX, install the newest TWRP and reboot the recovery (important), and try again to install KatKiss 6.0mm AFTER the reboot.
Your original USB cable for the asus is in good shape? Not frayed or busted? This is important if you want to recover back to stock:
(I cant post links yet) Download the Original factory firmware and the ASUS drivers from here
Code:
http://www.asus.com/us/support/Download/28/1/0/1/32/
Those should be able to get you back to factory.
Are you using a one-click method to root and do that stuff? Most of them are outdated nowadays, packing in old cwm or old twrps.
If need arises, you should check in Windows Device Manager and see what the TF101 is showing up as when you connect.
To get the right driver for it working:
connect the USB
boot the TF101 into APX/bootloader and leave it there
delete the device in the DeviceManager (and checkbox the Delete drivers as well)
now boot the recovery of the TF101
On DeviceManger delete the new device (and driver checkbox as well) again
disconnect the USB
install the ASUS driverpackage letting it finish installing
then afterwards reconnect the USB
reboot into APX, and driver should install in device manager, when it appears, then reboot into recovery and wait for it to install a driver.
You should see if any of the tools you had used has in its directory adb.exe and the related dll files, open a command prompt in that folder with the files (hold shift when rightclicking the whitespace inthe folder> Open a Command Prompt from here). Then with TWRP open and USB connected, go to Advanced -> Sideload ABD, see if its connecting something in Windows Device Manager. If it is working, then that means you can use in the command prompt
Code:
abd sideload xxxxxxxx.zip
-----------> xxxxxxxx being the filename you want to flash
repeat the command after each one finished with the rest of the zips you want to flash
Hi ich0,
Thank you so much! I'm going to give it a go, I will let you know what happend
