Bluetooth not working properly - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I just recently flashed Cleanrom 5.5.1 on my stock GS3. I factory reset the phone then flashed the ROM. Everything works great but today in my car I noticed that the Bluetooth is not functioning properly. I cannot understand a word the other person is saying, it is seriously garbled. However A2DP streaming works just fine.
Any ideas why Bluetooth is not working correctly?
Thanks

I have had the same problem since I switched from ICS based ROMs to JB based ROMs, I believe Cleanrom 5.5.1 is JB 4.1.2, right?
I never had problems with my bluetooth when I was using ICS or Cyanogenmod10 based on JB.
For me, the problem has been car specific. I have used the bluetooth with other cars devices without problem. The voices get garbled only when I use it with my car (Infiniti/Nissan). I have not been able to figure out a fix yet.

That is interesting...because my car is an Infiniti as well. Why would the issue be car specific? It has never given me problem on ICS roms.
What should I to do begin troubleshooting?

It would be specific due to manufacturer of the bluetooth module supplying Chip X. I think i'm running into this with an aftermarket HU. But I'll see after the weekend.

Ok so I flashed back to the stock factory image of JB and still have the same issue. Since that is the same as the OTA update, would calling VZ customer care perhaps help me?

[Q] Bluetooth Headset Crackling / Popping noises

I have recently rooted my Infuse and installed the most recent CM7 Gingerbread ROM. It was smooth sailing and I have been successfully using for about 1 week. I am now encountering popping and crackling noises only on my Bluetooth headset during phone calls making it unusable. This post had some similar comments - (since I cannot post links Google "Static/popping/clicking sound. - Page 2" I have searched this forum and others without finding a solution. I have tried both a Motorola and Plantronics (Voyager Pro +) with the identical problem. I do not beleive it is the BT headset. Has anyone else experience this. Any suggestions for how to troubleshoot? I tried to revert back to the original Froyo Nandroid backup but I get a "Error while flashing boot image!" error so I cannot test to see if the problem exists with Froyo as well and is just an issue with the phone itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This phone rocks!!
iirc cm7 on the infuse has issues with BT, can't help you further though..
maybe you can try the normal return to stock methods?

And there is your problem.
thank you both for the response. I have returned to stock and will try when I get home tonight to see of the issue is resolved. LinuxBozo, am I to extrapolate from your comment that the version is too bleeding edge for a production phone I should try a different version and or ROM? If I so which would you suggest? I would prefer to be using gingerbread over froyo and I really like the feature in CM7. Matter of fact if was awesome aside from the Bluetooth crackling and issue with not being able to remember previously paired BT devices upon reboot.
Thank you
If you want 100%, everything working as advertised on the box, CM7 is not for you. BT is flaky, and very basic right now, with audio (headsets, a2dp) being the most broken. As for something stable, and Gingerbread, you really cant' go wrong with the latest UCKJ4 leak, as it's basically an early look at what stock gingerbread will be. Otherwise, if you want something not so stock, I would say, look at Serendipity7, Sensation or Dlev.
Great feedback. Thank you!!!
Stock rom doesnt have any issues so it was a CM7 issue.

Rezound Bluetooth.

I am having a problem with my HTC Rezound connecting to Bluetooth. I know a lot about the android operating system, but the phone I bought off ebay is rooted and I know nothing about that. The Bluetooth pairs and connects, but the phones plays through the speaker and not the Bluetooth device. Anyone have an idea to help?

Is it on ics? I never use bluetooth so maybe its on an older ics build that doesnt have working bluetooth

It reads;
CyanogenMod version
Redefined ICS Senseless (beta)
There are older versions where Bluetooth doesn't work? Is there a newer one where it does work and if so how do I go about installing it?

Bluetooth issues
Not sure about your current ROM but lots of those ROM's have bluetooth issues. Especially if they are in alpha or beta stages. Your best bet is to flash a rooted stock deodexed ROM and see if that cures your issue. It mostly likely will. Then chose a custom ROM closer to stock that does not have bluetooth issues.

[Q] CM10 and my bluetooth device still no go?

Hi all,
I am tying to figure why my particular bluetooth device just refuses to work with CM10. (BluAnt S4)
I have tried all different versions of CM10 here, as well as the vincom's audio bluetooth fix, to no avail.
Since I have to use it in my car, because of the laws around here, I would like to know anyone else has a working fix for this.
My same device works very well with my girlfriends nexus s CM10 setup.
I get it to ring when I call, but cannot talk/listen to the other party, and they cant hear me. It does show that it is connected, and paired.
I keep reverting back to my backup of CM9 for my daily driver.
Thanks

Had the same issue, moved on to AOKP though that's not a resolve to CM10 but it's a fix for me since car BT is practically essential.
Thanks for that, which aokp based ROM do you use?

Does any other BT device work?
Did you try the 9/18 cm10 unofficial nightly? The 9/18 nightly works flawlessly.
When you flash are you formatting system? I always format system on nightly as things seem to work better\
here is the link to the 9/18 build http://builds.redpepperracing.com/u...tory=rpr&PHPSESSID=4d6a6fgjqn8d05c0nt03qmjpg0

I had official CM9 stable and yes confirm BT does work.
As for my current AOKP I was using the one post by R4INS, I found out last night there was an update see http://goo.im/devs/R4INS (the latest Sep-14-2), I haven't tried the BT on that update yet though I can confirm Sep 9 version worked link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831858. On Sep 9 you will still need to flash policy conf. fix posted by vincom to fix the music output in car, but the BT phone talk always worked without any issues.
***edit*** officially confirmed sep 14 update BT didn't work, in reverting to sep 9
I do not have access to any other BT device at this time. I did a completely fresh install of cm10 nightly 9/18 and later. BT never worked. I have just installed AOKP (ortheus) and my BT is now working.

CM has been having this problem since CM7. And it has been reported over and over in their issue tracker. But nobody at the CM team can take it and just fix it.
Vincom uploaded a fix for his Support lite Rom. Here ya go & for all others that need it.

Be sure to thank him!

Not sure if I have just been picking the right ones but I've never had a Bluetooth/Wifi issue with any ROM I've used...
Right now I'm running Superlite JB without gapps which I would think would have the least support and most issues but it's running really well.
Works flawlessly with my car's BT.

[Q] Jellybam 3.2.0 bluetooth problem

Hi. I haven't got the post count to ask this in the Jellybam thread, so though I'd give my problem a go in here.
Is there a known issue with the Bluetooth in the Jellybam roms? I've tried 3.0.0, 3.1.0 and 3.2.0 and with each one I can pair the phone with my car but the phone book wont load up and it phone keeps disconnecting. Also despite it being set to use the cars audio, it does not.
Previously to this I was using Stickman89's Jellybean JBMIUI rom with no issues.
A full wipe was done when switching from the JBMIUI rom.
Any ideas guys?
Cheers.
Can't help but can confirm the same issue, all day in the car it kept connecting and disconnecting to my Bluetooth car kit.
Have you noticed it keeps going into silent mode? I am sure its related.
Yes I am using jelly am 3.2.0.

Yes I had noticed that, but put it down to the constant connecting/disconnecting of the Bluetooth. I'm hoping a fix can be found as otherwise this is a great rom. If not I'll have to revert back to JBMIUI rom.
Jellybam is not the issue I believe. Android 4.2 changes now android uses Bluetooth and as such has broken a lot of things for people like we now cannot connect Wii remotes via Bluetooth as we'll get an error stating that the apps cannot find the path to it

Unless I'm missing something Jellybam is 4.1.2. So I'm pretty sure it's not the 4.2 Bluetooth problems I've been reading about.
Update.
I gave up on JellyBam (which is a shame as I liked every other aspect, but not JellyBams fault) and tried a couple of other Jelly Bean roms. Both of which had the same Bluetooth connection issues.
So it would seem the only Jelly Bean rom where the bluetooth works is Stickman89's JBMIUI rom (other JBMIUI roms may work also). Though due to me being bored of the MIUI rom now, I've gone to an ICS rom Elegancia sense 4.1 v3.2.0
I shall keep an eye on Jelly Bean as hopefully this Buetooth issue will be solved and I can go back to JellyBam at a later date.

[Q] Bluetooth Call/Voice Issues on TW 4.1.2 (I sound garbled/robotic)

I've ran a variety of TW ROMs including CleanROM, Hyperdrive and am currently running BoneStock - all are based on 4.1.2.
However, Bluetooth Calling/Voice quality sucks when I am paired with my car (2010 Nissan Maxima). I can hear callers fine, but they say I sound garbled and robotic. At first, I thought the problem was my car until I paired an iPhone and call quality was fine.
FYI, streaming music via Bluetooth works perfectly.
I've done research on XDA and other forums, and the problem seems to be with 4.1.2. Does anyone know if switching over to an AOSP 4.3 ROM will alleviate Bluetooth issues?
I like everything else about Touchwiz (e.g. the stability, battery life, etc.) and I know Google was messing around with the Bluetooth stack. However, I work in Sales and need Bluetooth in the car. Thoughts?

Sorry for not seeing your post sooner. If I get a chance, I am going to flash 4.3 ROM's myself (4.4 is still a bit unstable for my tastes) this weekend and see if the BT stack is improved.
Otherwise, I think I might jump on the Moto X deal happening on Monday (if the MotoMaker site decides to work. :silly
