Yes, EDGE is 2G.

Yea it should
2g with full internet pages is pretty slow though, takes forever to load anything, sending email and stuff like that should be fine but u can scratch watching youtube videos without waiting awhile
ok i have a samsung galaxy s at&t phone will the inspire work the same as the galaxy s?
also is the galaxy s at&t pnone on the same band as the htc inspire?
so would it be better if i used a iphone 4 unlocked with simple mobile?
als ocan you assist me in getting my htc inspire unlocked??????
hi,
please help if you can. i was thinking about getting htc inspire 4g from radio shack and would like to use simple mobile as my carrier. i understand that the phone has to be unlocked and GSM. my question is once it's unlocked do i need to change the access name point(apn) on the phone in order to use the internet?
thank you
anyone using Motorola Htc Inspire on Simple Moblile? any problem with internet ? do they "throttle" your usage?
Any AT&T phone on T-Mobile service will run on edge, doesn't matter which phone you use.

Inspire 4G on a 3G Network?

Hello Everyone. I have been searching the forums for an answer to my problem but haven't found any info.
I recently purchased a Inspire 4G online with out realizing that there was no AT&T 4G coverage in my area. I also made a poor assumption that this phone would be backwards compatible to my current 3G service.
My question: Is this phone backwards compatible and I just don't know the proper settings or do I just stick it in a drawer and wait for AT&T to role out 4g in my area sometime in the fall. ( so they are saying )
I would appreciate any help
Thanx
I would assume it's backwards compatible. I just bought the same phone and the 4G in my area is spotty at best. The service icon usually shows 3G, but in some places it goes to H++ or whatever and is super fast. So I'm assuming I am just running regular 'ol 3G on my inspire most of the time.
What settings are you talking about on your phone? I just put my SIM in and it worked... Then I flashed with Cyanogen and it still worked great without changing any settings. If you have modified a bunch of the radio settings, maybe you should do a factory reset.

yes its backward compatible. it has everything from edge (2G) to hsdpa (3.5G)
Fully backwards compatible and you don't need to do anything settings-wise. When HSPA+ rolls out in your area, the phone will grab a signal automatically for you.
All of my internet apps error with a Connection Failure message an I constantly have a H+ over a check mark for my network icon never a 3G.
The check mark indicates that your data connection is not connected.

The phone will not show 3G, Only ones I've seen are H+, E, and G. And G had the same download speeds as H+ when I did a speed test.
Wrong..I have saw 3g on my phone before I rooted.

Thanx everyone for you prompt replies. Stopped by an "autherized AT&T reseller" and was told I needed a 4G SIM card. The rep installed the new card ( at no cost ) and I am back on the net. I had thought that I could simply insert my current SIM from my Capivate and be on my merry way, I was wrong.
Thanx again.
Yeah the owners manual indicates a 3g icon when on 3g too.

That's strange. When I got my Inspire I just swapped my 3g SIM from my Eternity II and was on my merry way.

Could be his SIM card just went bad and the timing was a coincidence. SIM cards aren't terribly reliable.
the H icon DOES mean you are on att 3G, they just screwed around with the icons for their devices. go into settings, about, and find the network status and see which you are connected to. it will likely say HSDPA which is att's 3G. even when HSPA+ does come along you will still see the H most likely...
Lol you're wrong that you were wrong. I use the same sim. It just needs to be provisioned for the right access point. This was confirmed by the ATT rep when I activated my phone.

[Q] 4g on Nexus S through Boost?

Hey I have a question, the guy who flashed my nexus s to boost said he can do the same thing with an evo 4g, but he would be able to get 4g on the evo. I think he said he could get a partition for it? I have no idea what he was talking about so pardon me if i said something wrong, but does anyone know of a way to get 4g on the nexus s through boost? If not, is boost getting 4g anytime soon ever?
I remember reading a thread that said that if the account that the phone was on before the phone was flashed is still active then the WiMax keys should still work to connect to Sprint for 4G. I'm not 100% on this though, I don't believe Boost has their own 4G network.
i see. do you have that thread? yeah boost doesnt have 4g.
This is the post I was referring to

Skyrocket getting tmobile 4g

Hi, I know getting the tmobile 4g has been discussed before but im having a strange issue. I flashed cm10.1 and the umcm1 radio and successfully got excellent 4g in two different cities. Well I jusy moved somewhere new and it no longer gets 4g. A friend on tmobile with a htc sensation 4g gets the 4g no problem while I was getting edge. So I tried flashing numerous radios including the ucmc1, uxuma7, uvmb1, uvmc6. On all of these I either only got edge or flashing between hspa and DC with horrible speed and lag when I tested it.
I even installed a new rom, the fresh n slim one and tried new radios for that but same issue. Ive also tried switching between the fast and epc tmobile apns with no luck. The weird thing is when I installrd freshnslim it shows the 4g icon but its still the same awful speed and lag. Im at a loss for what to try next, please help!

You tried everything you can already...Now you have 2 last chances :either ditch T-Mobile or buy a T-Mobile phone...

[Q] Disconnected HTC EVO

I have an old Sprint HTC Evo , rooted and loaded with custom rom, I had used the wi fi tethering on the Evo while it had sprint service. I have now switched to a different phone . the old Evo still shows it has full 4g signal strength on it but i am unable to tether or browse the android play store. I was wondering if it is at all possible to tether on the old disconnected HTC EVO.
