First, I'm a total nubie to Android devices. I'm using Sony Xperia tipo dual (ST21i2, ICS 4.0.4, 11.0.A.1.8). Here's the chronology to my problem.
I tried to root my phone using the steps from the following page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Everything ran smooth, the root was successful (I checked it with "Root Checker Pro 1.2.8" and it said I get root access).
So one day I installed "Font Changer 2.1.0" (it needs root access), and it said the BusyBox installed was not compatible. I downloaded "BusyBox Pro 9.6.3" and installed it. Font Changer could run then, though it failed to change the phone's font.
I uninstalled Font Changer and "BusyBox Pro 9.6.3" I just installed. When uninstalling "BusyBox Pro 9.6.3", it asked whether to use "Smart uninstall" or "Normal uninstall". Because I'm no smart in things like this, I chose "Smart uninstall". Uninstall was successful but it said my system is unusable anymore.
I tried using "Backup and reset" feature and selected "Factory data reset". Everything seemed to be reset, my phone is running normal.
Then I tried rooting my phone again using the same file and the same procedure. The command-prompt window said the rooting was successful. I checked it with "Root Checker Pro 1.2.8" and it said I have root access. But there was no SuperSU icon on the app interface like the first-time root. Another problem is that when I installed some apps that need root access, they said that the phone has not been rooted, and when I was installing "BusyBox Pro 9.6.3" it said the 'su binary' is not found (I did "Factory data reset" two more times but obtained the same result).
So, I was thinking of flashing my phone using an "ST21i2_11.0.A.1.8_SI 1264-2819.2 AR_EN_FA_FR.ftf" file and "Flashboot 0.9.9.0" I downloaded from the following page:
http://androxyde.github.com/index.html?1355451208000
I installed "Flashboot 0.9.9.0", but there seems to be a problem with the language GUI. Please see the screenshot below:

(I checked the file "config.properties" in the "C:\Flashtool" directory, and the language option is "en", which means English. The language file "en.properties" also exists in the "C:\Flashtool\x10flasher_lib\langs" directory.)
So I used my experience with user interface and tried doing the flashing. But here is the flashing log:

14/021/2012 07:21:13 - ERROR - You can find them in the drivers folder of Flashtool.
I have installed the "flashtool-drivers.exe" in the "C:\Flashtool\drivers" directory. So here I concluded that Xperia tipo dual might not be supported yet (is it true?).
But there is another problem I need to ask. When I connected the phone into flashmode (phone turned off, pressing "VolumeDown" key as the phone is connected to PC, the LED becomes green), there was a new-device-connected notification on the taskbar and a notification bubble that said "SEMC Flash Device". But at that very moment my PC was not responding and I had to perform forced shut-down.
I also tried unlocking my phone's bootloader using the instructions on this page:
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
but the same thing occured (non-responding PC) when I connected the powered-off phone while pressing "VolumedDown" key to enter flashmode. (I use an old PC running Windows XP SP3, Pentium IV 2.13 GHz, 1GB RAM. Does it affect?)
The main question is: how can I flash my Sony Xperia tipo dual?
Any comments, feedbacks, and solutions are greatly appreciated. I'm a nubie here, so please correct me if I said anything wrong. Thanks.
(Forgive my English, I'm a non-native speaker)

You need to sort that out then, connect your Phone normally and uninstall it in Device Manager on the PC. When you've cleaned your PC Reconnect your Phone in flashmode and let the drivers install before moving on to the next step.
Problem solved. Tried flashing my phone using Windows 7 and everything ran well (as long as I followed the instructions provided). The problem was with my Windows XP, I don't know why (my Windows XP OS is a (highly) customized one and I can't figure out why it wouldn't work for flashing my Xperia Tipo Dual). The Flashboot's language interface also displayed well when I installed it on Windows 7. Thanks a lot anyway for the response. :good:

I did everything and it didn't work
I'm on windows 8.1
Yap - in win 8.1 RTM - this trick didn't work - still "enumeration failed".
Anyone found a solution for Win 8.1 RTM ?
me to waiting for 8.1 otherwise have to go back to previous version
I need this for Win 8.1
i have revert back to 8. but just now saw a post in xda below. can someone try and post feedback here?
" I think I found a solution, at least for my case with a Rockusb device and windows 8.1:
It seems that there is a usb root hub driver for every usb connected device. after I connect mine and disable driver signature it says device not recognized, so I uninstall the corresponding "USB-Root-Hub" under "USB-Controller" in device manager. my corresponding "USB-Root-Hub" was, for some reason that I don't know, the 3rd one from the bottom. as soon as i deleted it, it recognized the device normally and I can use fastboot again with windows 8.1."
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44288852&postcount=24
ok good new guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i did install 8.1 and tried the method i have posted above. and it did work not the 3rd USB-Root-Hub worked for me but i did uninstall several and even mouse stared not working but then it did work. so i repeat what i did..
first thing after flash 8.1 was i went to disable driver signature . then went into device manage and turn off my phone and connect it. as usual message came "device not recognized," so i did uninstall the Usb controll. u can see triangular mark there. then uninstall USB-Root-Hub. i didn removed several then i install flashtools and then installed drivers inside flashtools. yeahhhhhhhhhh and all works now
try your self guys
I tried the above method.
Phone is connected in flashmode but not in fastboot.
Am I doing something wrong ? Is there any way to flash kernel in flashmode ?

Yes , I installed flashmode and fastboot drivers , from drivers folder of flashtool directory. But , my phone is only recognized in flashmode , even if I connect it while pressing up volume button ( that is fastboot for xperia ray).

Well i know this is some confusing. anyway my phone is RAY too. after doing above mentioned method mine is working fine. by the way i did it in a fresh install of Win 8.1. and the first thing after install i did it to check if it work or not. so i dont know if u can do the same.
suggest you to try again. if u can post a screen pic of you device manager
When I connect my RAY , is always recognized as flashmode (SEMC flash device at device manager).
But in win 8 , there is a Sony Ericsson seehcri Control Device at device manager when in fastboot. So , I think that is the river i'm missing.
guyss help... i have successfully flashed the mobile.... but when i try to switch it on.. the red led blinks but the mobile doesnt start up... when i put it in charge, green light is on.. i tried powering on while charging still no luck...
So here I am.
My girlfriend was having random RAMDumps
so I figured out a rom would fix it somehow.
I installed gimlo, working etc.
Now after restarting it was stuck on the splash screen.
Can't access Recovery, but I can access Flash Mode and Fastboot.
Although fastboot is locked...
I can't get into the rom nor booting.
Only the splash screen.
No I was trying to flash the stock firmware through flashtool.
I tried flashing these:

(Fastboot devices shows nothing, and waiting for device takes aged)
I tried keeping out the battery for a night, no help.
Specs:
Flashtool version : 0.9.11.0 built on 2013-06-04 22:50:00
Xperia Miro : ST23I Europe (Netherlands)
Recovery : TWRP
ROM : GIMLO
Fastboot and FlashMode both aren't recognized by my computer, but flashtool recognizes them differently though.
But it's just stuck at the splash..
any help?
Update:
Tried ST23i_4_0_4_xperia.ftf too.
ended up the same..
Maybe you should try using thr latest version of flashtool on a different system.
Alternatively, you can use sony pc companion or update service.

haven't tried another pc, and isn't it the latest version? I compiled it from source lawl
besides, Pc companion or update service don't recognize it o.o
keeps on this:
And green led is on (flash mode right?)
you compiled flashtool????
It looks like drivers problem.
Maybe this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044804 will help.
EDIT
I remember that I had problem with fastboot - I've installed some sony fastboot drivers, and it work until now..
Hello all Pros,
I have a Sony Xperia L C2105 with bulid number 15.3.A.144 and trying to flash this C2105_15.3.A.1.17_1272-2171_R2B_Generic_DE downloaded from here:

dw page link: http://androidkade.com/64917/دانلود-رام-رسمی-4-3-برای-اکسپریا-ال-xperia-l-c2105-بیل.html
because of problem with Front Facing Camera (second camera, When switching to front camera it says unknown error, also in services test the error occurs) and my problem is that Flashtool stucks at flashing loader for hours and nothing happens.
I just want to know where am I wrong? I have flashed a lot of sony xperia with flashtool and in this one I don't know what is the problem!!! or even is this a problem?!!
That was a Problem by version of Flashtools thanks to @darQ96
The Camera Problem was not solved with this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54874809&postcount=197
I think maybe its a H/W issue.

If you flashed an stock FTF successfully, and your camera is still not working then it must be a hardware issue.
So I decided to flash a fresh ftf 4.4.4 (I flashed using flashtool at least 20 times on this device by now). I prepared the file and shut down the phone. While holding vol. down I plugged in the cable, the led blinks orange then green for a moment and goes off.
This is what flashtool says:
Code:
14/021/2015 11:21:55 - INFO - Connected device : Sony Xperia M2

USB Debuging is ON and even the PC is authorized.
The strangest thing is that even PC companion can't update the software. As soon as it completes the download it shuts down the phone, but hangs with instructions how to enter flash mode (but the phone is already in flash mode)

Even the OTA update fails. It downloads the new firmware and restarts to update it (the green android with the loading bar below), but stops and reboots shortly after. As soon as it boots up it says failed to apply update, try again.
I tried 2 different PC's (both Win 7), but same result. The phone is on stock 4.3 at the moment and all the flash and adb drivers are installed (I flashed the 4.3 ftf few days ago on the same computer). Any toughs?
Hello anyone try it? Is android 7?

Anyway to flash this without a PC? My laptop is broken and I can't use it.
Does anyone have an ftf they could share? Much appreciated, my flashtool cannot seem to be able to bundle the download for some reason. Edit: nevermind, the latest update fixed it.

My update using official built in software-update app fails. It downloads, reboots, showing the android (robot) installing sign and boots.
When I then return to the software-update app, it says 'installing' and after a while it notifies me it fails.
Anyone else with the same problem?
Edit: Circumvented by using Xperia Companion
