Hi Friends,
Want to install an ICS ROM on my P500.
Rooted my device and installed ROM Manager on it.
Flashed it by selecting LG Optimus P 500.
After selecting recovery option, my device restarted and all the data was wiped out from my phone. (akin to factory reset).
Does not get into recovery mode at all.
I tried it 3 times and the same thing happened.
Seems flashing the device through ROM Manager does not work.
Any other way to do it!
Thanks!

Looks like you did the factory reset button combo. For recovery it is volume down + home + power.
And I recommend using amonra recovery

Actually,if there is no custom recovery installed, the same combo does a factory reset.
And the best way to flash recovery is this.
My recovery got corrupt due to which i had softbrick.
After all the searching.. THIS worked for me and is safe & easy!!
success
I was finally able to install CWM recovery 5.0.2.0 and flash my phone with JB ROM. :victory: :victory:
Now i have android version 4.1.1.

red or blue recovery have you tried just wiping and installing the rom again
Are you using rom manager to boot into recovery or are you trying the 3-button method? ROM Manager doesn't work with aosp roms. At least for me it didn't. But I would agree with previous posts that suggest trying heimdall!

Here is h8rift's Odin UCKD5 Return to Stock with ROOT + 3e Recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092021
Use the first package.
Your phone needs to be a download mode.
After flashing, factory reset your phone in recovery.
Reinstall your rom afterwards.
So I used Rom Manager to install CWM recovery on my One S and now it boots into CWM recovery every time. A few times I've pulled out my phone and it's been stuck at the CWM recovery menu from what probably was a hard crash.
It's rooted and on the official stock ROM.
Any way to remedy this?
Install recovery using the fastboot method.

Hi,
I am trying to flash my LG P500 to Cyanogen Mod 9 and the manual I found stated, that I should partition my SD card using Clockwork mod.
So I found ROM Recovery app in Google Play and installed it. Afterwords I downloaded Clockwork Flash using ROM Mangager app and everything seems OK.
But when I try to boot to clockwork mod, my phone is always being flashed into factory default.
I power off the phone, press vol down, home and power on buttons - the phone starts up, an animation of white box and android logo beside shows (with a progressbar at the bottom) - I think this is because of installed clockwork - then I release those 3 buttons I was holding, but the phone simply resets itself into factory default.
I also tried to hold those buttons all the way, until some "DOS-like" screen shows up, but the phone keeps rebooting itself.
The next thing I tried was to boot into recovery using ROM manager app, but it also did not work - I don't know, if it should boot into recovery by itself or I should press those 3buttons (vol down, home, power on/off)
Could you help me, what am I doing wrong?
thanks
It sounds like your phone is not rooted. Follow the sticky topics in this section for how to root your phone. Start with this one:

Once you have root, install clockworkmod again. Then, you'll have success.

no, my phone is already rooted
That's the stock recovery, that means ClockworkMod Recovery did not flash properly. See if you granted SuperUser rights to ROM manager, and check the SuperUser app if you had mistakenly checked 'Remember Choice'.

Dont use Rom Manager.
You dont have recovery installed.
Find some other way to flash recovery.. there are many in this forum.
I suggest you use Rom Manager to download CWM and then boot into cwm .
I suggest http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827723
This is safe for installing custom recovery.
Thanks to Shinobisoft.
Use AmonRA recovery. Works flawlessly for all roms in this forum.

To do so, go to recover mode (POWER OFF+VOLUME UP+POWER BUTTON). Now, from here you can do the same.

heheh! ok ok! ill explain more! in recovery, i will do factory reset! ok. then here is no option to turn off the device. it only has reboot option. after rebooting, the apps load itself, and a new cache, data is made. My problem still exists! :crying:
Download rom manager free from the play store and flash custom recovery from there and now try to boot in recovery mode. You should have cwm recovery. Now from here do the things u wanna do and then it should work. If u flash cwm recovery from rom manager, it will still raise ur flash counter so to reset it root and download triangle away. I have a tutorial for it. See my threads.

Firstly if u have cm recovery installed.. Go to recovery, wipe data, cache n delvk cache, format Sd card n format system as well.. Then reboot the device.. If tab fails to boot, relax, go to download mode by pressing volume down key + power key, then volume up key to go into download mode n simply flash stock rom through odin.... Secondly.. Jus flash stock rom through odin.. If tab stuck at boot animation.. Go to recovery on the spot by pressing volume up key + power key.. N simply wipe data/factory reset.. Dats it..

No reason to wipe before flashing stock via Odin because it resets EVERYTHING in the process.

I installed ICM on my Infuse but the Recovery Menu is not working.
All that is displayed is ...
GALAXY S
cyanogen (mod)
... and nothing else happens.
I had to remove the battery to get the phone to work again.
I tried to enter Recovery by selecting Reboot Recovery from the power button menu and also tried
holding down both Volume Up/Down and the Power buttons but they only
resulted in the GALAXY S screen.
Any advice?
Thanks
Carl
Not even using ROM MANAGER will get me to the Recovery Menu.
ROM MANAGER reports that my CWM is v2.5.1
Is there a security setting that prevents one from going to the Recovery Menu??
Did the key press sequence change from pressing both VOLUME UP/DOWN and then POWER?
Baffled.
Carl
that happens because you have to flash twice the ics rom, before opening new threads you should read the instructions.

I thought I had flashed the ICS rom twice.
I followed these instructions:
Coming from Gingerbread (double flash):
1) download rom
2) reboot to recovery
3) wipe data/factory rest, wipe cache, wipe dalvic cache
4) flash rom
5) reboot
6) will get stuck at samsung logo or something
7) simutaniously hold power button, volume down, volume up until your phone reboots and you see the samsung logo - as soon as you see the samsung logo let go of buttons (but not your phone lol)
8) mount system
9) re-flash rom with no wipes
10) reboot and enjoy
Was a little confused about "8) mount system" -- should it have been mounted or unmounted?
Anyway to get CWM installed now?

I thought I followed the video and instrutions just like shown.
Anyway, to reflash I don't have a Recovery Menu. So, do I set the phone
to Download Mode and use Odin?
If so, in Odin do I use the PDA button to select the ICS Rom?
Thanks

Took your advice and started all over.
Was able to get "BeanStalk" Jelly Bean OS installed on my Samsung Infuse.
I went back to installing Gingerbread using PIT, PDA, and PHONE files using ODIN3.
Then installed Gingerbread with CWM using ODIN3.
Followed Video carefully and got ICS installed with a working CWM recovery menu.
Found the "BeanStalk" version of JellyBean and got it installed.
Had some trouble with the Launchers (Holo, Nova, and Trebuchet). They continually
crashed with "Unfortunately, xxx Launcher has stopped".
Every action caused this Launcher to crash.
Somehow I got it to go away.
Thanks much for you assistance.
Been a real learning experience delving into this technology and its arcane terminology.
Still, a rewarding effort.
Thanks again,
Carl
