Auto Partition Tool

Hello, Ive found it to be a hassle having to type all those commands everytime i want to partition my SD card for A2SD/Swap/fat32, so i decided to make a script for it
I dont know if this has been made before but I couldnt find anything like this. The instructions are from Cyanogen Wiki A2SD tutorial.
This particular script works only for 8GB SD Cards (which is what I have). If you want to make it work for a different size SD card just edit it for your Card or tell me what your total SD Card size is in MB (by typing in parted /dev/block/mmcblk0 print in ADB Shell) and Ill do it for you.

Not to offend..But Amon_RA recovery all ready partitions the sd for you...rendering this script or whatever useless...Most people should be using that recovery, it makes wiping, partition and backing up simpler than your day job or school and that stuff...
Good job. Amon_Ra's newest recovery does this as well. Just a quick heads up.
Edit: Hey Ace. . . JINX!!! lol

how to enable apps to sd in cm7

PRE-INSATLLED :
Backup files on your SD (recommended)
Make sure that you have a 2nd partition on your SD card. If none, partition using CWM or any other method
Format 2nd partition to EXT3/4 using CWM or any other method
Make sure that 2nd partition is mounted at boot. You can check this by typing the command below -
Code:
mount | grep sd-ext
you will get something like this :
Code:
/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 on /sd-ext type ext3 (rw,noatime,nodiratime,barrier=1,nodel
alloc,data=ordered)
How to install:
Download Darktremor Apps2SD 2.7.5.3 Beta 04 and save it on your SD ==> http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...a04-signed.zip
Reboot in recovery
Backup
Mount system and data partitions (Main Menu > mounts and storage)
Install file in Step 1 (Main Menu > install zip from sd > choose zip from sdcard)
Reboot. Done!
NOTE: After the phones boots, it will reboot again. This is normal because a2sd will automatically move apps to the 2nd partition of your SD
CREDITS : PARASMI
Thanks this worked perfectly
just one thing, your link didn't work for me for some reason http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715116 I also installed A2SD GUI successfully and that's working as well

[Q] help with sd-ext partition

I've tried a few different roms on my SK4g, ODIN'd it twice in the process of trying roms.. I decided I'd try the 0bloat rom and saw it supports the sd-ext..
I created a 2048mb sd-ext partition in the RED clockwork recovery partition SD card under advanced.
should it not show up under mounts and storage? I just have:
unmount /cache
mount /data
mount /sdcard
unmount /system
format /cache
format /data
format /sdcard
format /system
mount USB storage
Under the instructions for "Stock 0 bloat KJ2" it says it supports the sd-ext partition. However I don't see it and it doesn't seem to be recognized by the phone.. I took my sdcard out and plugged it into a computer and the sd-ext partition mounts fine and it's listed as ext3.
any suggestions would be appreciated.
G
uh..
so nobody else does this? no suggestions?
it wont show up under mounts and storage, and isnt even mounted on the phone yet. download an app from the market called LINK2SD. when you first start the app, it will ask what type of partition you have (ext2, ext3, ext4, or FAT32). pick whichever one you have. after a moment, it will say something about mount script created and tell you to restart your device to mount the partition. reboot and the partition should be mounted. you can then install apps to that partition.

[Q] ummu i no what it is, just 1 small question

idk why im confused. can someone please verify. want to flash erikmm rom
ummu - unmount system, mount cache, mount emmc, unmount sdcard?
is this what we want to see and leave everything else the same?
if we did have to flash stock rom. do we mess with these again?
Yep to your first question. And if restoring a backup you don't need to worry about them. Otherwise I'm not sure? Sorry.

Hey, I can answer your question
In erikmm's thread, he said:
erikmm said:
Installation Instructions:
1. Must have efs backup on desktop * just in case *
2. Nand Backup
3. Format System
4. Set Mounts to UMMU. *unmount cache, mount data, mount sdcard, unmount system*
5. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
6. Flash Rom
7. Reboot
8. Let the phone sit for 10 minutes then enjoy.
Click to collapse
First, you want to flash this ROM. You should odin back to stock, and odin recovery ( for a full wipe )
Make sure Battery is full charged before odin these things
Second. Go to recovery. Volume up + Down + Power.
1.Backup ( of course )
2. After that, format system, try to format 3 times.
3. Go to Mounts & USB Storage
You'll see a lot of things. Make sure you check in this
unmount cache
mount data
mount emmc
unmount system
is correct.
If you see one of these option is different than erikmm said, you'll try to correct them. Ex: You see in CWM "unmount data", you can correct by press Power button to changed it to " mountd data "
And the same as another options
4. Make sure you correct right things in CWM. After that, do an wipe data/fatory resets ( 3 times, I think ) and flash erikmm's ROM in your SDcard
5. Reboot, wait for 10 minutes, and enjoy
Maybe the confusion is this... inside the "Mounts and Storage Menu" lists as follows...
mount /efs
unmount /data
unmount /cache
unmount /emmc
mount /sdcard
mount sd-ext
format /data
format /system
format /cache
format /emmc
format /sdcard
format /sd-ext
mount USB storage
+++++Go Back+++++
thus the UMMU stated is not in that order and what about the others?
Be safe and have fun.
You no longer need to mess with the mounts when installing erikmm's ROMs.

Change file system of dalvik cache

Hi, I'm new to flashing custom rom. I've accidentally change the file system of my Dalvik Cache to FAT, (the default is ext4). I want to revert it back to ext4 but when I select it, it says invalid partition selection. I haven't flashed a custom rom yet. What should I do next?

AFAIK, dalvik-cache is just a directory present inside /data partition, which is EXT4 formatted (or even F2FS)..
How did you even do that??
There's no separate partition for dalvik-cache.
Maybe you would have changed the file system of /cache partition..
And, to make it clear, /cache partition doesn't hold dalvik-cache.

In TWRP, there's a Wipe option and then I selected Dalvik-cache and mistakenly change the File System to FAT. Now I can't mount it.
