I have a TON of these 37mb files on my SD card. They are all *.bins. What are they?
Anyone.....
sounds like a crash dump from a debug version of a radio app.

There are literally like 100 of them. The dates and and times are Xmas and every five minutes.
this also happened to me, but yesterday. do you have the app tunein radio? i think that may be the problem.
Nope....

Same here. I had approximately 30 of them. My guess is from failed ota attempts due to rooting.

Just checked my phone today and I have the same thing, dated Jan. 10.
I'm running CM7 Alpha 2-2.
I have 4 of these I wonder what it is.
I had about 20 of them today. My phone seems to reboot randomly when using a Bluetooth headset. Anyone know if there is a radio update anywhere?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
nobody knows? this practically filled up all my space and i had to delete them
Paul O'Brien thinks it's a crash dump of the ril.
He's tweaked his MCR custom ROM to not write it.
I haven't seen it yet on my phone...stock. Weird how some get it and some don't.
I have like 6 of these files on my stock gingerbread NS too.
Is it safe to delete them?

Yes. Delete away.
I've got this problem once in a while too (twice today, last time before was 5 days ago)
I think it's the same problem as here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=906435
Since some have it and some don't, might it be related to an app? The only app i think i have launched today and not on previous days is "Antennas" (great app, but seems to stay in background when you think you closed it)
Stock Nexus S i9023 Rooted.
i've got 33 of them
not sure if i can delete them or not, but looks like you guys have without problems.
i.imgur.com/4j3YS.png
nexus s, CM7
had 4 of them on my stock 2.3.4
removed them now.and will monitor when there will be a new one.
so far only radio using apps i have are the stock apps.
I am also having this issue with nexus S with baseband i9023XXKD1, randomly it asks for pin code and a radio_dumpxxxx.bin file is created in the 'sd card'.
Using simyo (kpn) in Spain which uses Orange network.
Has anyone found what the problem is?
Radio dump bin files seem to get created when the phone loses its 3G connection - they're safe to delete and should be deleted to save space, since 37 MB each adds up. Also, not every baseband version works on every carrier. Some ROMs do include baseband, so you may end up with a new one without realizing. My Nexus S originally came with baseband B1 which worked find on my carrier. Now I've got D1 which also seems to work fine. Maybe your D1 isn't compatible with Orange - try B3 or B1 instead.

We'll most likely get it once the sources are updated to 4.0.4. It looks like a lot of things have changed in this build too. Maybe performance will increase on our phones?

I just like the fact that multitouch was updated in it for the keyboard issues I was having... Typing drunk on CM9 was messing with everything I needed lol.
Anyone know when the OTA will be out
Been trying different ROMs but then my phone started random rebooting even when I put it back to completely stock and re-locked it. So, I sent it in for replacement. Now my replacement phone at the top of the screen used to say "T-mobile" but now just reads "LG" on the glass. I guess the later phones were no longer branded T-mobile.
One thing I noticed though is when I put in a ROM that worked flawlessly on my old phone it would cause the replacement to have random reboots, force close, and just plain lock up where I would be required to remove/replace the battery to get it to work again. Any ideas or suggestions??? I have only been able to run the stock GB rom successfully.
Any ideas on what the phones issue may be?? Or maybe when the OTA for a stock ICS will be available?
Thanks,
NotinStock

1. why are you posting in this thread?
2. some roms/kernels are undervolted, if your phone cant handle it youll get random reboots.
3. nobody knows when ICS will get here, NOBODY. if anyone says they know when it will get here, they are lying. there are no exceptions, EVER!
Loving all the improvements that come with this update. I just installed AOKP build 31 and have had zero issues thus far. Just one thing missing...can't hangout in G+ and we know whose fault that is. Nvidia
Hi i traded my phone, and he installed the wrong thing and broke it. I thought i could fix it which i did. Now though when i load it up it has no mobile network. I can connect to wifi. I called atnt and they said my imei was fine. I registered this phone with them when i first bought it, so i dont see how the imei could bad. I think he tried to change the carrier to something else and messed it up. Is there any way i can get my mobile network back? ITs a atnt i727. What should i be looking for to change the carrier to what its suppose to be. The imei is the right one from the back of the battery.

Isnt that for the data? I reset it to default but it didnt help. I cant make phone calls or anything. Is there a setting to tell the phone to connect to at&t or something like that? Or is there any way he broke the hardware? Under the settings about the phone it shows my phone number.
Thanks for trying guys. I have a update I got like one bar last night and it received like 4text and then got none. My girl friends phone is getting service, so does that mean something in the phone is broken
More details on what he did to break it and what you have done to fix my guess is that you need to flash a better working radio

Well when I got it back it was is a mode I haven't seen, kinda like the download mode but it said Odin kies mode. Im not sure what ics he tried to put in it. But I put back in the flash to stock Odin from the site and it loaded back up. Then I saw it didn't have service so I installed Cw recovery and installed sky coke. Which I have now, also tried some kernals but that didn't help ethier.now I have sky coke no service to atnt for calls or text but wifi works. I don't get service even in emergency mode.
Try finding a gingerbread radio FOR THIS PHONE and flash it my guess is that is your issue I don't have links but they exist somewhere in this noob ridden skyrocket forum

Thanks very much, i tried that and it still doesnt work. Weird enough every once and awhile it works, it should like it must of dropped it in water or something, and bricked it on me so i wouldn't realize what was going on. Or am i wrong? Is the thing that receives and transmits cell calls and text able to brake hardware wise?
What I would do is try a new sim card. All the network info is on there. If you did something wrong with roms or whatever, you could fry the sim. I would also make sure to have complete stock and I mean bone stock att rom( no root) placed on it. This will make everything back to factory and a better way to eliminate the problem. Sounds to me you have multiple and nothing meshing together. Search forums to return to stock which most likely would be gb 2.3.6. Good luck.
Oh and make sure you read closely and carefully. Returning to stock can be dangerous if you don't follow the directions step by step and have patience. You have nothing to lose if the phone is already borked. Its worth a try.

I'm having the same exact problem. And unfortunately, it looks like it has something to do with the CM 10.1 itself. As CM 10 works perfectly fine and gets me a signal, CM 10.1 won't be able to get me services.
I don't think there's a fix on this yet.

Hi,
New to the S3 and this rom. Root, flash went well, and so far, I'm loving this rom. One problem that is stumping me is this:
Using ADW launcher, have a direct dial short cut to voice mail. The voice mail contact is set up to dial *86 ,,xxxx, so with one tap, I can call vm and access messages.
However, the keyboard then becomes non responsive. I can't delete or save messages, and if I have multiple messages, can't get to the next one.
Any suggestions on how to work around this appreciated.
I'm running the 3.2 beta version of LS, and really only have this, and one other minor issue.
Thank you.
Still haven't solved this, but here's more clarification:
Phone is running LiquidSmooth 4.2.1m v2.1m beta 3.2
1. Using a 'direct dial shortcut. the rom dialer has a contact set up named voicemail, that is programmed: *86;,,XXXX. When I hit the direct dial shortcut, voicemail is dialed, xxxx is sent, and I can hear my first voicemail. The problem is the dialpad is non responsive. So, I can't save or delete the first voicemail, nor can I proceed to listen to the next one.
If I dial *86, and enter the password manually, then the dial pad works.
Even if I dial any contact withGoDialer, then, open keyboard to dial and extension, I get the stock dialer.
I drive a lot, and need as few distractions as possible. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I tried pretty much everything on the internet before posting here.
My stock/no root phone started bootlooping. So I used Odin and root66.tar to get it back. Everything seemed to be good. After I got 3 updates:1) 30mb, 2) 60mb and 3) JB updated OTA. After 60Mb update my phone said Samsung and shows unlocked lock. After JB update my phone bootloops again.
I though it it was a bad update and reflashed stock no root 4.0.4 and OTA did the same thing.
I tried the gs3 tool to flash the recovery and it always fails.
I would appreciate any help.... I have been dealing with this non sense for the past 24h.

Alright, I'll try here. So, I'm on cleanrom 5.6. As far as I can tell everything is working, and there aren't any actual problems, but the phone doesn't know what the network is in settings and and when I drag down the notification bar it doesn't say it at the bottom. Anyone have an idea?

carrier
Since you carrier wont load I believe following this tutorial with help fix your problem but check the conditions. Im not allowed to post links apparently so I attached it. I'll also flash cleanrom 5.6 and find out if its a software thing and get back to you. But it seems to me like its a MEID issue. So check the conditions in the link and if they are true I'd go that way. If not re-flash, clean install would be my suggestion. Yeah I run Cynagenmod 10.1 and it even knows I'm on Verizon. And Scott's roms always have the carrier.

I can't recall when I last had it working but my NFC completely stopped working. I have tried reverting back to absolute stock rooted nandroid. That didn't work so I Odin booted back to the original unrooted firmware. Still same problem. If I try to uncheck NFC from the more options it moves over and is immediately flipped back. I have gone into a Verizon wireless store to seek help but the guy made a sarcastic remark that his iPhone wouldn't have that problem...but I also as a few other notes I have tried hells ROM and also flashing the NFC file with the ROM which also didn't work and have tried the few NFC Google wallet fixes I have seen, also sadly no luck. replacement?
I think you may have a faulty chip. Also is your battery NFC capable? But to be honest Verizon will replace it for free if your under the 1 year warranty and don't have water damage or anything like that. Because if it doesn't work on the stock rom it's most likely a hardware problem in this case. So I would contact your carrier about that.

I have the stock battery and when I did call Verizon the first time they wanted me to contact Samsung first then get back to them so I figured i'd bring it here. Actually I just thought of something else to try. Have you gone in and force quit nfc and cleared the app data? That may resolve the problem. Nfc will be under all apps and it is named nfc service.

Hey all,
Ugh, didn't mean to post yet!
I just updated from CM9 to 10.2 in the hopes it might fix this bug, but it didn't. I suspect then that it's not ANYTHING to do with a ROM per se but I'm perplexed as to what it is.
The behaviour is:
- I get a voice mail
- After listening to the voice mail, deleting it, and hanging up, the notification doesn't disappear
- Some time later, I get a repeat notification of the voice mail
- During this time, I can't receive any texts
- About a DAY later, the phone will realize that voice mail actually has been deleted
I've tried searching xda, and I've tried general googling, but I haven't pinned anything down. I've seen some references to what might be a similar bug, but not with these ROMs, and... honestly a couple of YEARS ago.

Well, I did do a factory reset.
Is resetting to the stock ROM actually guaranteed to, well, basically format /system?
(Oh, and I flashed this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451317 )
P.S. see here for someone's... probably unorthodox solution to the problem. Basically seems to be forcing # of voice mail notifications to 0. Which isnt really what I want, anyway.

Unfortunately, I have the 959W rather than the 959V so I can't use it.
And I remember upgrading from gingerbread to CM9 was a lot tougher than I expected (I think getting the drivers to work right) and I had to get a LOT of help from a member here on the forum. IIRC there were a lot more reboots required of the phone / my PC to get things to work.
All in all I probably shouldn't mess around with ROMs. Hardware problems make me angry and frustrated.

O..didn't know you had the T959w..
Well I have seen something similar
On the Samsung GS4G Blaze..
They had a call fowarding bug that was carrying over on Roms..
It was something in CM11 that they
Figured was being written on the
Sim Card..and it was even carrying over to any Rom you flashed..
Once you got it... it didn't matter
what Rom you installed
full wipe or not it stuck..
They have Offical CM11 and the
CM team fixed it..but I remember it took a couple weeks..
Have you tried getting another
Sim Card..couldn't hurt..
Have you tried Force closing the
Phone Apk.and clearing data..
Also found this..
Here's what just worked for me on my Tmobile Galaxy S III
1) Pull the battery
2) Wait a few minutes with the battery out (I waited 5 minutes)
3) Pull the SIM card
4) Replace battery and power up phone. Wait until phone is fully booted
5) Power down phone
6) Replace SIM card and power up
Annoying VoiceMail icon is now gone.
BTW.. I hate the voice mail notification...
I wish people would
Never leave me a voice mail..LOL..

Oh huh, I missed your reply till now.
I think force closing the phone app and clearing caches works but ONLY temporarily and then the problem reoccurs (when the phone decides to check for more voice messages?)
Man if this was something being written on the sim card and not a ROM thing that'd be really annoying. But couldn't I "just" wipe the whole sim card? That's gotta be possible, right?
I'm trying the pull-battery-and-sim-card just to see what happens.
On the plus side I found some old posts of mine on the forum and realized that I only ever used this new computer for flashing stuff. So I just have to figure out which USB port worked last time... the usb drivers should still be installed and everything.

Try using modem LB6 for 959w/v patched to work for mtd roms, hope this will fix the issue.

I believe I am using the LB6 - certainly, I'm not using the stock. (The only confusion is that I've got zip files on my PC for the LB6 and a KG4 modem.)
Whatever modem I have on my phone was working fine prior to some upgrade of CM9 (IIRC).
God!!!
So I got Heimdall working again, flashed to stock, reformatted my SD card, re-updated to CM10... and I'm getting the same problem again!
So either it's the CM 10 ROM or something with my phone company! GRRRR...
Maybe the next step is to go back to stock and then just try CM 9. Or even CM 7 or something... put a modem on the stock ROM and see if THAT still ****s up.
