This may sound a bit strange, but i want to (re)lock my HTX 8X and i was wondering if anyone has some knowledge about this? I don't want to hack or unlock or break anything, just want to get my phone working again and help some people out here having the same problem. I already posted this in the general "Shipped ROM Collection" thread, but i want to isolate the issue and keep that thread clean.

Maybe we can get help with HTC? I really think a lot of 'Not for Resale' HTC 8X'es which are security unlocked have been seeded to users.
Question to OP: Is your 8X a loaner or really yours?

The next question would be, how and where did you get that. If you bought that, then there's a good chance you or we can convince HTC to release a tool or something that will update the bootloader(?) so we can receive updates in the future.

Id say that where ever people are getting the phone now, the reps there will install the updates before they give it to you.

My source is me. My friend got his from Best Buy this morning, he asked me to root it for him. Then I discovered v1.47.651.1 on it.
My EVO is currently smashed, I am awaiting a replacement. I pray my replacement doesn't come with that version on it but I'm probably SOL on that.
There are still NEW Evos that are coming with stock ROM. I bought another Evo last Thursday from the Sprint website and got it yesterday. It has the 1.32.651.1 firmware and 003 Novatec panel.

I have no doubt that is true. But it's simple logic to figure that eventually those older versioned phones will run out and get replaced by the new v1.47.651.1.
I thought about offering $ as well. Which I may be willing to contribute. But I have the fear that it will cause the free flow of ideas between the devs to stop if they think another dev will crack it first.
They deserve the $, no doubt. But I'm hoping they would be willing to work together and split it up. If that's the case, lets see how high the pool can get.

Sure, it's possible. But he said the guy handed it to him in the box, and the plastic protector was still on the phone screen.
Can you not just downgrade to a previous version then root? (like what you had to do at the beginning if you already got a phone with the first OTA?)
And since you didnt specify that it needed to be full root or NAND unlock.. you could just use this:

You can count me in for $20, mine had the first OTA already installed.. but I didnt read up good enough and thought root wouldnt be possible so I just said the heck with it and installed 1.47.651.1.. Loving this phone but I know ill love it more rooted with a custom rom..
So right now were trying to make sure that the future of HTC's phones dont get knocked out because of the encrypted bootloader they are trying to force upon us so im just writing this to you all to make sure that the XDA members know whats going on and I was wondering if you all can help us out, these are the details:

would read up on what is going on and show that everyone is wanting this to be unlocked.

thanks for reassuring them its not bogus at all me and a couple of xda members are trying to influence the facebook people right now we have been working hard but we need the help of our fellow xda members
No surprise with future HTC phones getting locked and/or encrypted BLs. Pressure from carriers are finally getting to HTC.
Someone from XDA will crack 'em.

Seems like sprint isn't pushing this on them though, based on what i've seen with this info it seems its HTC's part here that they want to protect their Sense UI most likely. but you can help and try to change the future because that's not something i want and i'm sure no one in xda wants this either

It appears that you cut the links from another post wherein the tag get's abbreviated (the ellipsis in the middle) but the actual href is valid. You should always right click the link and "copy address" (or however it appears in your browser) instead of selecting the text directly.

A few threads have been removed the past few hours. These are regarding a leaked radio which is known to brick devices and has been taken from a compromised server.

I think the important thing is to protect sources. Not sure if it is bricking or not. Though I don't want to be the one to find out.

bamf team is coming out with a new sense 3.0 rom(there is a preview zip available in the bamf 2 beta thread) so im guessing there is something coming soon, he seemed to stop once the brick issue came about, so why else would they and others update and create new roms for GB radios.
It wont brink you, its just to protect sources and legal issues probably. Im using it and its much better than the first leak, only got one reboot in the few hours my phone was on

The fact that we have an MR2 Radio means GB could be right around the corner. I have had one reboot with it, (although that might have been a fluke, as the phone had 3% battery left), and so far it is very stable, and I wouldn't be surprised to see an official build out soon.

Two possibilities - DHD update cancelled for the Telus carrier, or the update cancelled for ALL DHD models. None of these should affect the Desire S or Incredible S. We already have ROM leaks. There is no way in hell HTC would release the updates in China and not the rest of the world. We'll get the update, I'm 100% sure. (and seeing that you're from O2 Germany, you may be among the first to get it )
Thats about Desire HD not Desire S....lets keep it Desire S talk in here guys...least in terms of worrying if X is going to happen in the future...

There was an article on WPCentral titled: Verizon HTC 8X to get Windows Phone 8.1 in late October.
In a few words,the article referred to a screenshot from HTC's official Twitter account,that read as follows:
You can expect the Windows 8.1 update to roll out to Verizon's HTC 8X in late October
That's pretty much all that we have,but I'm guessing that as soon as one provider gives out the update,others will follow!
Let's all pray that HTC will keep their word.
