Modern combat 4 - Asus Transformer TF700

I know theres a thread about this game already but I didnt want to add to the thread as its for a leaked version. But the game is now available on the app market but I dont see it there yet. Is it the same for eveyone else? I can see it with my s3 and prime however.

That's because Gameloft is an arse: (Well duh, it's Ubisoft.)
ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T
This item is not compatible with your device.
So you won't see it if you access the playstore through the TF700.

I just side loaded it after I paid and downloaded it on the s3. Works pretty good but not silk smooth like it is on the nexus 10 or s3 though. I say l prime, and tf700 is about the same..slightly lower frame rate.

I bought it and downloaded it on my Note 2 then TB the game and copies over the game data and work just as good and my note 2. I wish Gameloft would just fu**ing support controller s already!

I cant seem to open the game anymore and all I did was unlocked my device. I get a license check error
Edit: copied data over and it works again.

Do you guys think the game will ever be officially supported for the TF700T? I can't believe that it's supported on older devices but not this beast. It runs perfectly fine for me on my Transformer Infinity, when I create a local multiplayer match there is no graphic lag at all. During the campaign I ran into lag once in a while when there were lots of AI and graphic effects but the game always stayed at a playable frame rate. All of the issus I experienced weren't anything that couldn't be fixed with the slightest code optimizations as well. As far as some people had issues with the RAM running out, I had no issue like that whatsoever.

If you're using the dock that might be the issue. Try it without it.

Why? The only reason seems to be that games like this restrict installation on "FHD" devices for whatever reason...

Got the game running - it runs pretty smooth, areas of intense combat lag it up a fair amount, but nothing i cant deal with i guess.
Some of the HUD buttons are missing from the screen e.g. sprint, ADS, fire, crouch etc. Any reasons why?
Also, and this is the big thing, sprint doesn't seem to work properly - as a result i cant sprint over obstacles and barricades, which means i can't progress on the first mission. Anyone have a solution for this?
Thanks in advance

There's a bug when its docked. You can't see some of the huds but still function. Just undock and they'll show up.
I think the sprinting is also due to the dock if I recall.

What you do is you find an .apk of the game and install that. You then get the TB files and put them into your TB folder where all the other backups are kept. Once that's done, you go into TB and 'restore' the app and data (might just be app, might just be data, cant quite remember). That should do the trick.
If it does not, then you probably need to get the SD data for the game and put it in the right place and then TB the game.
Once that's done you should be able to play it. Im pretty sure thats all the things you need.

Appologies for not replying before, but see my previous post.
Both .apk files and SD data files can be found, just make sure when you find those two (and the TB files possibly?) they all correspond to the same version of the .apk
Hope this helps.

I was able to download Modern Combat 4 from the Play store to my Viewsonic Gtab and it downloaded the extra files. Another member suggested I use SugarSync, it allows you to sync files between devices. But I have a problem, I can not find the files. I looked in /data and did not see any MC4 files. What do I look or and where do I find them, please. Thanks

Could you tell how you managed to get it working?
I get the same problem that the game (sideloaded) doesn't download any data.
And also, are you really running Ice cream sandwich?
I downloaded it onto my phone and then moved both the apk and download folder over to TF and as stated the menu is a little off but got past that and into game but its all in back and grey. The cars all do what they should but its so hard to se whats what without the proper colours.
I assume this is a graphics issue as the game plays ok so i may try chanfire to make the game think its playing on my mobile chipset and not the TF Tegra 2 chipset.
I feel we are so close to getting this game working it cant be long before someone cracks it.

I've had Chainfire on my TF for months. Never had any issues. The Chainfire 3D market page says:
!! Android 2.1 and newer. Now available for Honeycomb - but still a big risk there. Install on Honeycomb at your own peril !!
I'm assuming it's a case by case issue, but it has always worked fine for me.
Thanks may well give it ago. Just sort out a backup first to be safe. I have found some chainfire zip files that should allow me to run the htc version on my TF.
I will post back my results.

Ok got chainfire3d installed.
After downloading some plugins and installing them in chainfire and then playing around with some of the settings i managed to get this game running.
The menu text is still wonky but once in the game its spot on with 16 cars and track displaying and running just as it should.
Mind you its a lot of work just for one game.

Sounds nice, could you tell where you found the tegra sd files?
With the data I downloaded half of the tracks are just black which makes it unpayable.
I found the tegra2 sd data on google including the words tegra in any search i made when looking up real racing 2.
The menus still dont work but the game plays fine once you are racing. The biggest problem for me is that its not in english and i dont know how to change this.
I sorted out most navigation from my mobile version of the app, which i used the buy now option to help support the devs even though i want to use it on my TF if possible, but could not find a language option so i assume its something to do with sd data download.
Will have another look later.
Jason.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
The quick way to change the language:-
load file manager
goto /Andriod/Data/com.ea.game.realracing2_row/files/res
del text_de.txt
rename text_en.txt to text_de.txt
Works for me on Motorola Xoom.
The problem with the menu sizes is with the font files :
helveticaneuebold.ttf
myriadp0.ttf
The sizes are controlled by a file called "dataoffsets.txt".
I am trying to alter the info in this file to make it work on my Motorola Xoom, as soon as it is done i will post the update.
Simon
Nice one mate will edit this tomorrow on my TF and see what i get.
Please post back if you have any luck with menu sizes as that would a be massive bouns and would allow me to get stuck into a career.
Thanks.
Jason.
Did the old text file trick and it worked a treat mate and now all my menus are in english.
So thats the graphics and text sorted just the menus resizing to go then.
Jason.

Lack of Application Compatibility

I hope this is the correct forum to ask these questions.
1: Can someone help me understand the lack of compatibility between the Transformer and a decent chunk of apps that seem to work just fine on other Android Tablets.
And
2: Does the Transformer Prime have these exact same issues?
Is Asus just using an unusual hardware setup that no other vendor is using or is the software just that borked?
The Transformer is an OK piece of hardware and I wouldn't mind upgrading to a prime or even a 700 when they release but if they will have (or already do have) the same issues I will be switching to another hardware company for my next Android tablet.
I am running stock Rom and just don't feel like going through the hassle of using one of the modded OS's unless they are just "that much better".
Thanks in advance for any and all feedback.

What applications are you talking about specifically? Only ones I know of are gameloft games, but I figured out how to make them work by editing a few lines within the apk thanks to a guide I found awhile back.
Yes,
A list of the ones you want that are not working would be good..
While I do get the market telling me that there is a few that are not for the transformer..
I usually push them to my phone then transfer them over..and they work fine..
Also..as this is a Q/A.. refer to this post..

You should try getting the apk by other means if the market says its not compatible (like from your phone for ex.) If all else fails, you might have to 'edit' the apk like I did.

I think their problem is they do everything on a whitelist rather than let people just try it out. So even if a device is capable of running it, since Gameloft hasn't thoroughly tested it, they block it off. As the Infinity just hit, it'll be a while before Gameloft adds compatibility to any of their games, if they do at all.
A much better approach would be to show a big disclaimer on "untested" devices that the game may not run properly and the person runs it at their own risk. If a person really feels unsure, the warning gives them time to use their google play refund.

@OP have you tried copying the apk over from your nexus to see if it would work? if it has licensing then it should still work since you are using the same accounts.

I got it! I backed it up in Titanium on my Nexus 7, then uploaded that to Box, then using Titanium on my TF700 I used the Box integration and restored it to my TF700, and, well, Batman is rocking the Infinity too! Did you have to have the infinity rooted? and how about the nexus 7? can this be done with other games as well that are "not compatible" such as black ops zombies or spiderman?
Wow....this is an interesting 'discovery'. I like to play MYSTERY MANOR, but it, too, complains that my device is not compatible. Wonder if I backup the game on the SGS3, and then bring it over to the TF700......will this work?? I have root on both devices - is anything esle needed??
For whats it worth, Play does say it's compatible if you are running the unofficial cm10. I got it for .25. Well it does play, it does not appear to be optimized as it can be choppy.

Poor TF700 app support: Nexus 10 era

From the release of the Infinity, there has been low compatibility with apps and especially games. Some have said it is related to lack of developer support for the high res screen. Others have suggested the Nexus 10 will force developers into support for the new generation of where's-those-pixels tablets.
Both Skype and Rock star announced tablet optimised app releases in the coming fortnight (the latter for Vice City). The TF201 is on both compatibility lists but no Infinity. Is this deliberate? Or did hardly any Infinities sell and hence support for it make no business sense? In addition I don't see many EA or Gameloft releases, both old and new, supporting our machine.
Perhaps I'm being impatient and this is just the early adopter first world problem. Or maybe it's another reason to jump ship to the N10.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
Not just the TF700. The Note 10.1 has the same issue. As does pretty much every other HD tablet.
They work fine. I've got nearly every supposedly 'not-compatible' game running, no issues...
The thing is this. Devs made their games in a low res. They're too lazy to re-release the games with a higher resolution. (adding the infinity to the list won't change the ingame res, it'll still be upscaled.)
All they have to do is update the texture packs, but they simply won't. Of course not,
EA has always been too arrogant for customer support. (Don't believe me? The EA Master Server was dead every day in BF2, and they haven't changed anything, not even a cable, 8 years, 7 Triple-A games and 9 expansions later. The Master server still erases profiles&progress nearly once a day, fails twice a week completely and crapped out on the release night of BF3 and stayed down for almost 3 days...)
Gameloft is Ubisoft's mobile section, so that speaks for itself in terms of a completely non-existent customer support.
To be fair, though, Gameloft has a decent amount. EA is just an arse:

Please clarify. There's a hundred ways in which you 'can't download'. Error? Doesn't start? What?
I side loaded most of my gameloft games that's not available on the market and they work fine. Some games however will have smaller menu screens or smaller on screen buttons. An example is wild blood. Come to think of it's that the only one I recall right now. EA games however, you get a server error when games open. With the exception of NFS Most Wanted. It can open but plays slow. Like playing in slow motion. Theres a mod to make it faster though. Glu games are all available. Most other apps are too.
On nexus 10 almost all the games for gameloft, EA are available from the market and all work without issues. Once exception is wild blood is not available but can be side loaded but buttons are even smaller and menus are blank. So really not playable. Most other apps are available too.
It maybe a matter of not being able to test their apps so they dont make it in the compatibility list? But it does suck that tf700 out of the box is not supported by most. Seems like its the misfit of all the devices due to its unique screen resolution.

Yup. Pretty serious, too xD. Used to be in a clan (before we all parted ways), was clanleader for almost a year, as well as led several division. Even played in the ESL and Clanbase finals for SWBF2, BF2142 and FEAR. (we won swbf2 several times :highfive: )
Been out of it all for a while now, though. Too little free time, and the games are too bloody expensive (And there's no fun in it anymore, all those kids and aim assist.. (we used to call it aimbots, and they got you permbanned..... now it's part of the game )
Aaaand we're off topic again xD Oops...
With the increase of 1080p phones in the next year being announced, I would expect that app developers would start to catch up with high resolutions. It's always been a matter of time.

Please clarify. There's a hundred ways in which you 'can't download'. Error? Doesn't start? What?

When you launch the game it needs to download additional files, when you click to do so you get error 5002, I called EA about it and they never called back, just look at the reviews for the game filter to tf700 and you'll see what I'm talking about.

That's a resolution-not-found error.
Basically, it means the installer can't find the files related to the device's resolution. (Evidently, as they don't exist.) You can call them until hell freezes over, it's not going to be resolved.
There's only one way around that, and that is to download and install the SDdata manually. There's plenty of sites that offer them. I don't think it counts as illegal to manually download the data if you already paid for the .apk in the playstore.

I think I remember this work around a while back. I will transfer the data from my prime to the tf700 and see how it goes. Thanks for bringing this up.

Same issue, same result. Not able to copy data from my S3 for this. Any solution?
My result with NFS most wanted is sideloading the apk from my s3 worked fine and it downloaded the data when I opened the game. Game is in slow motion however.
For NBA jam or Mass Effect when I transfer the apks and open the game I get an error. I copied the SD data also but same error on Mass Effect and on NBA jam the screen just flickers with the NBA jam logo.

I have nba jam on my tf700 and I downloaded it directly from the market when it came out, works fine too.
Edit: Oh F Me, I must've not downloaded the extra files, now I get the server error 5002 crap. I am just about done with this, either google steps up, takes a hit to make customers happy and apply some rules to the market, or people are going to start to leave the android tablet market and seek refuge with apple, at least we know they have rules for supporting their devices. I know, I know- itunes, evil apple and closed system, but I am willing to live with that but I would be able to download and play every game on their market without worries that my device would be incompatible for years to come.
GOOGLE GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER AND FIX THIS, IT'S BEEN AND IS GETTING WORSE, NOT BETTER!
I wouldnt necessarily blame google though. They have set of guidelines that if followed, apps should upscale correctly to fit larger resolution screen. Devs are just lazy and unfortunately some of them don't support tf700.

I do blame google, they allow the apps on the market without trying to hold the devs accountable to following the rules. why have guidelines if they aren't going to be enforced in any fashion. Sure, our devices were the first to hit the 1080p resolution in the Android market, but **** none of the big players are interested in supporting it. Even if they say they support it they really don't. As an example, you can buy need for speed for the infinity, it says it's compatible in the market, you can download the base files, but your f'd trying to download the additional files needed to play. ow whos fault is that? Google for allowing it to happen or EA for even allowing the base file to be downloaded? In this case, it's both parties, but when it comes to overall compatibility it's on googles shoulders for not enforcing some sort penalty.
It really doesn't matter what I think, they got my money and I'll make sure I don't fall in the shame on me catagory.
Oh and the Zen pinball not compatible issue, they turned it back on for the tf700 after I had a nice conversation with them about it not working. I will cut and paste my emails and their responses. BTW it all happened in a 30-45 minute window.
This is how devs should respond to issues with their apps.
This is me emailing them about the problem with Zen Pinball after the latest update.
"Hi,
I am a little more than frustrated with your company right now. I had this game running perfectly fine before the latest update, which broke portrait mode, so I figured I would un-install it then re-install it to see if that would fix the issue. Low and behold my device is NOW INCOMPATIBLE, which is a crock of you know what, it worked great before this last update. My device is a tegra 3 device, this game is marketed as a tegra 3 game with enhanced visuals, my daughters FUHU NABI 2 is compatible, a friggin kids tablet is compatible but my $600 Infinity isn't? Pleae send me the old apk so I can play one of my favorite games again.
Thank You".
Their response,
"Hi Cris,
Thank you for your email. We are aware of the issue with portrait mode, and will be issuing a fix shortly.
I am not sure why your device is now listed as incompatible, but I will look into this right away.
These updates are tricky, there always seems to be issues that we could not test for, or weird settings that we need to look at in the Google Store."
My response back,
"I appreciate your timely response to this problem, I contacted google play and they looked on the blacklist and the infinity is listed on that, just an FYI. Once this issue is resolved can you please email me and let me know because it really was my favorite game on the market.
Thank You."
And their response,
"We are turning the device back on momentarily. Portrait mode will not work yet, but should work soon as well. Apologies for the inconvenience."
Talk about easy, I mean they gave personal responses, not canned, looked into the problem and made available again in less then an hour. This is great customer service and in turn make me want to buy more of their games.
Edit:
More information from Zen Studios
Hi Cris,
The device was turned on about an hour ago, but could take up to an hour longer to reinstate. Please let me know if things continue to not work for you a few hours from now.

Changing the Infinity ID (Build.Prop) to Nexus 7

Sorry can't remember the exact naming of it. Though I know many programs (games) don't seem to be on the market for our lovely tablet. Though there is this thing called a Nexus 7 that gets basically all the ones we don't. Would it be beneficial and not cause any other issues that is, to change the ID so the market place reads this as a Nexus 7?
Curious if anyone else has done this long term.
Dont know how to, someone else probably does, but just a warning:
The Nexus 7 has a 1280x800 resolution, which is almost half that of the Infinity. Meaning, even if you buy a game that *does* support Full-HD, you'll still be given the half-HD resolution, as that's what it thinks your device has.
The resolution is also the reason apps aren't available for the TF700. Lazy developers syndrome, it's called.

I think what is that you can get a lot of the unsupported apps through Amazon... Especially EA titles and they work fine. I think developers are unsure if they support it so they assume they didn't. Not sure it's being lazy as much as uninformed.

Not bothering to test or research counts as lazy Just ask any student.
And that's the thing indeed, most of the 'incompatible' apps and games work perfectly well. I'm running several dozen and haven't had a single issue. :fingers-crossed:

Exactly I got apps that do work...
Wild Blood is example of one of them. Though instead of using a crappy cracked or hacked version to get it to work properly I'd like to use it normally. Hence why I know you can modify the build.prop file (found the proper name finally) but curious if anyone has done it.
Nexus 7 is probably the closest to similar as it gets for tablets. Just curious if someones done it more on a long term basis. I'd just like to switch it once and forget about it basically.
I've tried this and it doesn't work. Google are clever and are working out the device from somewhere else.

Grr bloody hell. Thanks for that info sbdags.
Guess I'll be using my phone for the updated APK's still.
What always perplexed me was that running cm10.1 I get significantly more games showing up in the market. I tried playing with the build.prop but could never figure out what it was. May be worth looking into again. I

Likely the kernel is different. I suspect that has something to do with it.
