Root galaxy gio - General Questions and Answers

i have a samsung galaxy gio with cyanogenmod 9.0 4.0.4 ice cream sandwich and i had root.
but after installing the 4.0.4 ics rom i couldn't find out how to root my gio good again.
i tried the update.zip (not working),also tried with usb: then it worked like better i could now update my su binary but it didn't complete the update couldn't transport to system because he couldn't write (-rw) and the su update fixer doesn't work and su won't prompt neither won't it do anything except trying to update.

N8000DXBLL3 rom from sammobile website is official rom or rooted rom ????

Sent from my GT-N8000 using xda app-developers app
All roms on Sammobile are official roms and none are rooted!!!!
No.
All the XBLL3 firmwares you can find on the Sammobile's Firmware section are leaked original Samsung. No rooted ROM there.

can i root this N8000DXBLL3 rom ?? becuase running out of memory space ??
You can root any rom the easiest way is by using the exynos exploit by download the apk from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050297
it will root your device instantly
Also if you are running out of space please remember it is not easy to use your memory card as default memory

Could Not Root Xperia L (C2104) 4.2.2,help!!

I read all the methods posted here but it dint work out....i tried:
1.)DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v17_perf-event-exploit
2.)Xperia_L_ROOT
3.)motochopper
all the exploits failed.....so i cant even backup my TA,it says your device is not properly rooted....
today i learned all the terms related to flashing and flashed my phone using flashtool with stock rom "C2104_15.3.A.0.26_India.ftf"....its working fine...
can i flash a custom rom without rooting and with locked bootloader in similar manner as i flashed stock rom..??
without rooting i cant flash CWM recovery,right..???
without CWM recovery i cant install custom rom,right..??
custom roms are already rooted(i read in forums) so can i flash a custom rom using flashtool (but my device is neither rooted nor unlocked)....??
Phone:
Xperia L C2104
Android version 4.2.2
Build number 15.3.A.0.26
You will need to root to install a custom Rom. (we currently have just one lol) and for cwm you'll need an unlocked bootloader. Idk about locked bootloaders, I think levered had a thread idk. Oh and as for rooting, check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302700

i dnt knw about flashing the rom yet..but i had the same problem..
no exploit for jb ver. 4.2.2 hasnt come up yet to root the phone wid a locked bootloader..and ta backup isnt possible widout root access
i flashed my phone wid the previous fw...rooted using motochopper(thnx alot)...backed up my ta..unlocked bootloader...phn went into bootloop..again flashed..rooted again and finally...m done!!!

is downgrade possible ..???
acc to u i flash stock 4.1.2 in the same way i did for 4.2.2 using flashtool...then use motochopper to root ..then backup ta...unlock bootloader...but then we remain in stock rom 4.1.2 right..??
or we can then use the custom roms for 4.2.2 directly without flashing the stock 4.2.2...???

Actually..
when the fw update rolled out I installed it..
..later wat I did was download the stock rom(15.a.0.2.17) from the forum itself and flashed it using flashtool..
Then I used motochopper..backed up my ta..n then went down wid full root..
downgrade isnt possible directly..
---------- Post added at 07:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:19 PM ----------
And no I dnt think any exploit works currently directly on 4.2.2
I didnt want to void warranty..so I went with keeping the bootloader intact and backup ta..
incase phn got damaged later on..
U can straight away unlock the bootloader and then use motochopper and root ur phn..but then backing up ta wont make sense!coz u need to backup ta before bl unlocking, only then u ll get a locked bootloader if u restore it!
---------- Post added at 07:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:24 PM ----------
And one more thing(srry for makin it so long)
u can wait for sumtime...if u dnt wanna follow this long process..
the guys dat work on these exploits are some hardworkers...and they ll bring up an exploit for locked bootloader shortly!!!

what else i cud do...????
really its very confusing.....when i read the advantages of rooting it says we can flash a custom rom that has not been officially released for our phones....like we have 4.2.2 n if smone creates a custom rom based on 4.4 for our phone we must be able to flash it right...??
but the clean n tweaked rom says in its instruction flash ur fone wid 4.2.2 stock rom then root then flash custom rom n again root....why its so..??
i rooted 4.1.2 then i must be able to flash that....cuz u already know the problem is 4.2.2 is not getting rooted....
i must keep 4.1.2 till someone tells me how to flash CWM n flash a custom rom on 4.1.2 or someone tells me how to root 4.2.2......

CnT v4.and up have the method to flash the rom for Lock Bootloader but its based on latest firmware (4.2.2)
but its required root 4.2.2 stock or custom for the script to work.

sorry for being late to reply.....
so if i unlock my bootloader using flashtool then i can install CWM........
which rom will i be able to flash then...??? i mean CnT based on 4.2.2 or CnT based on 4.1.2....??
and plzz someone help me to install linux on android.......the method i found reboots my device everytime i open the terminal.....
Yes, but please read carefully about unlocking bootloader, some devices got bootloop after unlocking...
so be prepared with ftf file for flashing via flashtool..than you can have CWM by flashing custom kernel...again make sure you know which kernel support your firmware version..
For CnT version 3(4.1.2) comes with zip file but for latest ver(4.2.2). its comes with script installer that don't required CWM method..

Are you stupid?
You can't see in forums that Vroot is malware and all threads from xda regarding Vroot were deleted and that's why we use another safe method for rooting.

US update file for us rooted users

Did anyone save the update file for those of us who are rooted? Root / TWRP tripped it so I cannot download whatever 115MB update is out there.
I was rooted, no twrp. Update via kies was successful, but unrooted device.
If you can tell me where to look for update file I'll see what I can do.
Did the update via kies keep all data intact like an OTA? I can always put a stock recovery back on it and use kies, never thought about it.

It seems that I could re-root with the CF Auto root file I used last time. Root Checker basic claims I'm un-rooted but I can use titanium backup and root explorer (to rename a system file) without issue.
Can someone rooted, but not updated try root checker basic from joeykim and see if it is simply a kk issue? Just curious.

I'm not familiar with that function but I'll play with it and see what happens.
In addition to loosing root I also lost write access to the external SD card. I had to re-run the SD Fix app to restore that ability as well.
You will lose root when you update, However flash the root in odin again AND reinstall SuperSU and you will have root again. I'm updated and I have root with no problems at all.
