[Q] AllShareCast Dongle S/W Update keeps coming back - General Questions and Answers

I tried to get rid of AllShareCast by uninstalling various Samsung / AllShare applications with Root Uninstaller, but the Dongle update keeps coming back every few hours. Which application is requesting the update, so that I can finally kill this problem?

It's the package called FWUpgrade 1.2.0 requiring this update. still, I do not know if it is safe to remove it. I did a force stop, no disable is possible, nothing happened....č

A video that looked like it was from CES last year was showing the GS3 with the Dongle, that they said came with the phone, it lets you broadcast video etc to a TV using wifi. My phone didn't come with the dongle so why do I need this app taking up space?
It doesn't show up in the list of app until you do the update, I ended up with it when I got the phone and get connected there was a bunch of updates available and I just hit install all of them. Then when I went to disable it the button saif uninstall updated so I did and it disappeared but then it shows in the Play Store all the time so you either have to update/install it or do the other one by one, what a pain.
Guess I will put up with this til I root the phone then I will get rid of it, I hope

I can't update or download apps from Market.

I can't install apps I've paid for. I can purchase new ones but they get stuck on "starting download" with a over ending status bar. Um on fresh .6
Wouldn't you know...
This problem's fixed itself since I posted this question. It didn't work for at least 2 weeks. Today I just queued up a bunch of apps to update, plus a new one to install (TivoRemote) and it did lag at the "Starting Download" progress bar for a looong time then all at once they started coming through as they should one-by-one. Typical.
Awesome.
I've had this randomly happened to me, even before I rooted my phone. I would typically disable my mobile data connection, enable wifi, then disable wifi and re-enable mobile. I have no clue what step along that way actually fixed it but it would start downloading again every time. I haven't seen it in a while though.
The same thing has been happening to me, I would restart my phone and the app would say it was installed but it force closed after uninstalling then reinstalling it worked fine

Try factory resetting your watch, rebooting your phone, and checking again. Make sure that your galaxy app has updated and your phone is updated to the latest software os
I too can't find it in the app store.
Does anyone have a link to the most recent version's apk? It worked great for me with tizenmod 3.0

yup, did all that and then some. Still doesnt show in the samsung app store
I've reverted to this gear manager from July, seems to be working fine with notifications. I'd still like the most recent working apk, I think it was from october. obviously the new update broke something, so they're in the process of fixing it and releasing another update (at this point, gear manager is not in the galaxy app store)

whoa, awesome! I'll probably run with the July build, for now anyway. seems fine. let me know how your device turns out.
I got the update yesterday. Post update gear manager crashes on clicking settings. So much for QA by samsung.
Embarrassing for them.

When the gear manager wants to update, bring up the task list and swipe it away. Launch it again and it won't ask to update.

just a heads up, I uninstalled it again today and it showed in the app store and I reinstalled it and its back to working like normal. There is now an emergency notification system built in to the watch and the settings are in that menu.
I've been having the same problems. Firsrgear manager was crashing when trying to open settings. Then it wouldn't open at all. I uninstalled and reinstalled complete with full wipe and still nothing. I used the other build that someone provided a few posts back and that works for now. But now I'm noticing that the other watch face apps I use (MW and WS) have disappeared from the app store. Had anyone else noticed this?
Side question. I'm new to the gear 2, just purchased last week. If I was to reroot the gear and find an MW apk, is there a way to side load the MW apk without using the phone but still have the phone recognize it?
Newer Version makes it worse.
How do you keep the old version running when the warning box forces you to install the newest crap version that won't allow the connection? Mine is a brand new Black Friday Gear 2 Neo that was working fine at first, then wouldn't hold the connection. Now it won't connect at all. December update? I downloaded an older version and got them to connect, had everything connecting with the old version and then my phone got commandeered and the newest version just installed.

I kept the old version from this post:

I keep cancelling the notification to upgrade and it's fine.

Thanks for the thought. I spent 3 hours a couple of nights ago with a nice Samsung tech who tried everything and then admitted he had had 4 calls that day from people whose Gear 2 would not connect to their phone after the latest (December 1, 2014) update. So in spite of all the updates, Samsung keeps making things worse instead of better.
The idea of swiping it off hasn't worked for me on my Note 3. But I have developed a workaround (not a solution) similar to the Ipse_Tase suggestion just above. I downloaded a really old version of Gear Manager at http://www.mediafire.com/download/yo17ta4qyrx50zj/GearManager1_2.apk , installed it, paired the device to the watch, and a connection was established. If you try to actually open the old Gear Manager after the pairing you will get a threatening warning screen saying they're going to delete everything from your Gear 2. But if you just leave the Gear Manager open and running with the warning screen on (don't click cancel or OK), use the phone normally with Gear Manager running, you can use the pre-installed Samsung programs on the watch. If I click cancel the Gear Manager closes and I have to start over. You can turn off automatic updates in the Galaxy App Store, but you'll still get the threatening message that they're going to hard reset your Gear 2. Just leave the message on the screen, let the program run, and use whatever other programs you want to on the phone.
Advantages: Your Gear is not a brick or just a time piece. You are paired. You're not hard resetting the device or trying to pair and connect all the time. You have access to Schedule, Notifications, Weather, Phone functions, S Voice, anything Samsung-based. You can control any app that can be adjusted from the watch itself.
Disadvantages: You can't change or adjust any app that would have to be done from the phone. Third party apps don't work because you can't use the Galaxy App store to get them or install/run them.
But it's better than nothing until Samsung gets its act together and provides an update that actually improves things rather than bricking your watch.
Has anyone found a way to actually use an older version of Gear Manager to download apps, manage the watch, etc. since all the recent updates seem to cut off the bluetooth connection?
Fluke Recovery
I decided to try to install the newest Samsung update to Gear Manager one more time--just to get a log to send to Samsung. Cleared Bluetooth pairing, uninstalled everything, reinstalled newest version. Failed several times, then finally paired, then finally ran through the bootup process and I am now connected and reinstalling programs, pictures, etc. on the Gear 2 Neo. We'll see how long this lasts. I'll keep you posted. For now, I'm illogically hopeful.

Bad news. Back to square 1. The newest (December 1) update to Gear Manager is no good for Gear 2 Neo with Galaxy Note 3. It will pair and you can get a brief bluetooth connection from the watch to the phone, and sometimes even from the phone to the watch. But it disappears after about 60 seconds. I'm sure it's the Gear Manager update. You can get certain apps to work during the brief periods of connection, but you can't do any settings from the phone, or use the Gear App store through the Gear Manager.
Does anyone know a way to uninstall or bypass the current new version of Gear Manager and install an older version alongside it? If I uninstall it I have learned from bad experience that it will hard reset the watch and I will lose all the time I have spent (3-4x in the last 3-4 days) setting it up. And worst of all, it will delete all Gear Apps that I have paid for from the phone, and I will have to reinstall them whenever I get a connection, and set them all up again.
Workaround
As I was suggesting last night, the best workaround I can come up with is still to install the older version (linked above) by APK, and then leave the warning message running. This way you can get a steady bluetooth connection for as long as you need it, and you can operate all Samsung apps and some 3rd party apps too. You can't, however, use the Gear Manager. You can only make changes/adjustments that can be done from the watch. But it's better than nothing until Samsung gets its act together.

Just FYI, I got the same setup as you and out of curiosity I DID update Gear Manager (now called Samsung Gear) to get a fully functional S Health (also updated)...seems to be working fine so far. Even Watch Styler still works.
Sounds like I should try it

Thanks for this tip. I think you mean that you went ahead and ran the update on the new version (December 1?). Or do you mean you ran an update on the older version I mention above? I'd like to try it to see if they've gotten rid of the bug. Are you saying everything seems to be working fine and your phone updated acceptably?

Also curious about how long you have been running the new update. It worked for me for about 12 hours--then would not connect after that....

Major problems with Google Play

Hey guys. So, I got my BPXL about a week ago, and I instantly loved it. The first thing I did was reinstall all apps from my previous phone. All 180 apps. No issues (except for the -504 problems). Two days ago, I was prompted by the Play Store about some updates. I told my phone to update all apps automatically, but there was a list of about ten items that needed to be updated. "okay, whatever." So I initiated the downloads. About two hours later, I realized that in the notification drawer, the download for the very first app in that list was appearing as paused. Return to the Google Play Store, see what's up, and the download bar is just running running running, but never actually showing any download progress. Paused them all, tried to run them one at a time, same problem. Tried to install a new app, same problem. Tried all of Google's troubleshooting steps, same problem. Here's where it gets real fun: Performed factory reset of phone, same problem. Acquired replacement phone from Amazon, SAME PROBLEM.
Apps can be downloaded and installed from the Amazon Appstore, but Amazon's app market couldn't hold a candle to the Google Play Store. I'm totally at the end of my rope. Google doesn't know what to do, Blu doesn't know what to do, and I have no idea what to do. I have no idea what is causing these issues. Anybody had anything similar happen and know what to do?
New here but I've had my Pure XL since December. I've been having the same issue for about a week or so. The only thing I've found that works is to cancel the updates, turn off Wi-Fi and start downloading them again. Of course that uses a lot of data, so it's not really an ideal solution..
and the download bar is just running running running said:
Dear friend i got the same problem. But i was very confused when I when to other WIFI location and suddenly the downloads start working....I change my originally router and seens to fix that..don't know why... but it never happen again...

I actually just got off the phone with Blu CS, and it seems that this issue is common enough that they're rushing out a patch to try and fix it. There's a lot of other broken stuff I hope they patch over too, but in the meantime, being able to download off of Google Play would be a big step forward.
So there it is. Anybody experiencing the issue, wait. That's what they told me, that's all we can do.
Received an OTA update today that appears to have resolved the play store issue.
Blu Pure XL pause download problem *Easy Bypass*
I recently bought a Blu Pure XL, shortly after I rooted it no problem, then I had the store error that everyone else is talking about and people say there was an update released to fix it. Unfortunately when I try to start the OTA says my system is damaged so I downloaded the app: DataEye to see what processes use the internet while downloading and long story short when the download says paused open Dataeye and Toggle data saving mode on then off! Fixes every download that pauses hope this helps!
I try to to update today through wireless update but i only get the message "network connection failed". So i unroot the phone using the the tutorial forum.xda-developers.com/pure-xl/general/twrp-recovery-root-blu-pure-xl-allview-t3269447 by bemolx
it keep saying "network connection failed" on WIFI or 4G, internet is ok and working.
But i notice something weird: I can't set the camera Storage Location to Internal Memory, only to SD card. (Also whatsapp can't receive any media) . I don't know if i did something wrong at the first time when i root the phone or if this is related to the update that i am not able to install. By the way if somebody manage to download this update as a zip and share with the community. ? maybe others are having the same problem?

S7 freezing and becoming slow - sometimes reboots itself.

Hi,
I've had the s7 for a few weeks and it's been running fine.
For the last 2 days, it's been freezing and becoming unresponsive leading me to reboot it for it to become normal again. Sometimes it auto reboots itself.
I have realised that this mainly happens to my phone while I am using the Daily Mail app.
Any suggestions?
Running stock BTU firmware latest - I've tried a factory reset.
Remove the daily mail app?
Well, I could do that but I use the app daily, it's been working fine for weeks.
It can either be something has become faulty within my S7 or an app update on Daily Mail has made it happen.
I've removed the Daily Mail app, deleted the cache and storage of it and re-installed it to no avail.
Yea, so remove it completely for a week and see if the phone still does it, if not, it's the app
Use the daily mail site for now
Ok, I will remove it right now and test.
Thanks.
Just had a thought, the Oculus Rooms app had a problem update recently causing these exact symptoms
Uninstall "Oculus Rooms" and see if that solves it, it's getting stuck in an update loop that never ends, killing battery life, heating phones up, and killing performance
You rebooting the phone likely temporarily solves it until it tries updating again

It's actually "Oculus Rooms" causing the problem, show System Apps in Applications manager, see if you can see it in there
Otherwise grab a package disabler from the play store and disable with that, don't need root, I use Package Disabler Pro
I can't see Oculus Rooms in System Apps and I just installed disable service from the play store.
I don't see it there either.
I do see Gear VR services and I've attached a picture.
If you don't have GearVR headset or used SideloadVR to enable it, it might not have been installed, not sure as I used SideloadVR to run it on mine
com.oculus.rooms
If you don't use GearVR, I'd freeze all the GearVR / Oculus stuff and see how you get on
Some tips here
https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS7/comments/55280e/overheating_and_draining_battery/
I don't use GearVR headset or SideloadVR and I still can't seem to find com.oculus.rooms
I can't seem to find an app that would freeze GearVR / Oculus stuff without root.
I can see however that Gear VR Service has used 22% battery since last charge which doesn't seem normal.

Yep, that's seems to be the problem then
This is what I use, no root needed
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ospolice.packagedisablerpro&hl=en_GB
Top right 3 dots menu > show system apps > search from top search bar for "Gear" and "Oculus"
Check their boxes to disable, done
I've just seen this:
hxxp://www.sammobile.com/2016/10/02/oculus-updates-app-to-fix-rapid-battery-drain-on-samsung-phones/
Will the update be pushed out automatically so I wouldn't need to disable anything?
Check for updates, see if it fixes it
If you're not using it, might as well disable it anyway, free up resources
I don't know what I'm looking to update?
No updates are available in either Google or Galaxy play store and I can't seem to find the VR App.
Probably because you haven't enabled it with either SideloadVR or the Gear headset, so you can either use a package disabler and kill it that way, or use SideloadVR to enable it and update it that way
I don't have anything enabled on my phone to test different methods, until I get a GearVR, I disable all unnecessary services
Do I just download Sideload VR via the play store and them run it?
Reading the instructions would also be good
All the info you need is in this thread and on the apps description / google, instead of constantly asking questions, either disable it or update it
I've installed Package Disabler Pro and disabled everything with "Gear".
Nothing showed up with "Oculus".
I hope that's fixed it for me now.
Good stuff, fingers crossed, if you still have problems try removing that daily mail app

problem disabling system update notifications on oneplus 8 pro

Hi. Thought I could get a little help with something. I got my 1+8pro and I rooted it with Magisk only. It was a little tedious but my root check app says it is rooted. I had trouble with my bank apps. One was so stingy that I had to redo the root using a different app name instead of Magisk. Finally got that working. Then I started getting notifications for a system update. Well, in order to update I had to wait until that version was posted on 1+ website so I could download it and patch it in. I finally did that and eventually got everything back up and running with the update. It was tedious and the phone is finally working again, just like I want it to.
About another week later it began nagging me again to do yet another update and I did not want to go through all that all over again. I went into the settings for that system app to disable the notifications but the switch was greyed out, locked in the on position. I live by important notifications and having that up in my notification area constantly is distracting. So I contacted support and asked how to disable the system updates or the notification. They told me to do what I already tried and I had to send them a screenshot showing that it was greyed out. Then they were trying to talk me into resetting my phone which is scary considering it took me many weeks to set everything all up.
So I said "uncle" and ended up going through the update baloney all over again and getting it rooted like before. Tedious. I checked after doing so and the notification setting switch was still greyed out. So, now it started nagging me to update again only this time wants me to go to OS11 which I am certainly not even ready to try as it is still in its infancy and not interested in taking a chance that something stops working properly on the phone.
I have a root uninstaller app on the phone that disables apps, but it is so old that it is no longer supported and apparently doesn't work with this newer Android version like it did on my old phone. It just brought the app over when I transferred everything from the old phone to this new one. It has app disabling features that apparently do not work for this version of Android. So I cannot use it to disable the System Update app. Now, I can probably install the Pro version of Titanium Backup which has an app freeze feature but not sure if it will work after paying for it. So before I do such a thing I wanted to see if there are any other options to maybe get this switch un-greyed so I can block these notifications. I know also that I can clear the cache and data for the app and it stops for a few days, but then I have to keep doing that once or twice a week and that is just a pitb to keep doing. Besides, 1+ said that it shouldn't be greyed out.
Anybody got any ideas for me to try without jeopardizing having to lose it all and start over? If I knew what I was getting into with Magisk, I would have installed TWRP first so I could have backup images to roll back to. But that is an afterthought now. I don't think Titanium Backup can create an actual flash image of the phone like TWRP. Maybe I should start over and just do it right with TWRP, then Magisk in the first place. But I want to leave that as a last resort.
Ideas, thoughts?
Thanks if you can.
